Good soundtrack it gets quite repetitive at times but it's okay. The game is quite easy but that does not mean you can't die. And now the bad ones well the only bad thing is the outdated graphics Unreal Engine 4 and this is the best they can do? it's disappointing also the facial animations are mediocre and some characters are boring to talk.To sum up overall a great game better than i expected.

I expected way worse from the developers, after the abomination that was Rambo. But this doesn't take away from the fact that Terminator: Resistance is actually a great game for fans of the Terminator franchise. Despite its average graphics, clunky skills and character progression, and boring semi-open world maps, this game gets the terminator atmosphere right. Despite its average graphics, clunky skills and character progression, and boring semi-open world maps, this game gets the terminator atmosphere right. The cool soundtrack, interesting story, especially with Annihilation and Infiltrator DLCs, delivers. It is VERY respectful of the source material and universe of the Terminator. The enemies while dumb, feel tanky and quite scary at times. The Infiltrator DLC is such a treat, to play as a Terminator and the Annihilation Line DLC actually puts you in team with Kyle Reese, which tells a good portion of the side stories that happened to pave the way for Terminator 1 and 2. Overall, Teyon, through this game, created the Terminator sequels that we really deserved. It's very ironic when a game developer produces a far better movie than all of Hollywood has in the last 20 years. Great work Teyon! This game is one I'd happily recommend. Expand

The game is good....trust me, I'm from the future. Full seriousness, this gameplay and story took me by surprise. The game has a decent amount of content and while its not as polished as triple A titles, it's still a game worthy of Terminator fans.

Because after the good first 30 minutes or so the game takes a total nosedive.
Forced dialogue and annoying babbling kids are bad enough, but what the hell did the design-team think, when they decided to play a big portion of the game during DAYLIGHT?!

The daylight-sections look just plain ugly. Really really ugly. The strength of the game, are nearly all sections that play at night.

I mean: People wrote in their Reviews how the game is like they've always imagined an original terminator-game would look, after comparing it to the first two movies.
But didn't the flashbacks show us battles during THE NIGHT?!

Weapons and hit-detection feels kinda off (it gets a little better though, when you get your hand on some futuristic weapons. - Unfortunately you'll get them very late in the game!).

The stealth-mechanics feel very clunky, maybe thats the fault of lacking real alternative routes. There are airducts and small reroutes at some scarse points, but so many ways are just artificially blocked or funnel you right through enemy-positions.

The gameplay and the story are very good and what keeps things interesting. There are many different scenarios and situation that keep you in your toes from T800 to sneaking around and also keeping your ammo in check meaning: you can’t go shoot around everything unless you want to run out of ammo fast. Its an apocalyptic environment so supplies are scarce.

The graphics and character animations are in line with games like HALF-LIFE 2 (old school type), nothing mayor but good enough to do the job.

I would definitely recommend this game for Terminator fans and anyone who wants to know more of what happened after T2 Judgment Day.

This game is an excellent example why we should not read professional reviews. The has very average reviews and yet it is a very good terminator game. Sure, the graphics are dated but the game is still tons of fun. The polish studio knew how to take Terminator license and use it to the fullest. Every terminator move fan should try this game. I do not think that you will be disappointed.

The fps is well made for a budget game and crafting and gathering materials is rewarding. The graphics are not the best in 2D but looks impressive in the legacy 3D vision. I loved playing this game and I didn't feel ripped off at all for the 18 euros I paid on a special sale. I wish I had paid full price to support the devs, perhaps buying a friend a copy will suffice. This is my game of the year in 2021 as I finished this year only. The Teyon Studios is promising and I hope they don't lose touch with their passion in producing games like Terminator: Resistance. The skill trees not too deep but still has some depth at least early on.

Crafting is the same way not too deep but avaliable and direct.

The story starts a bit slow but I enjoyed it. its another time jump terminator style story. So if you can follow the movies then you understand whats going on.

4. If still unsure wait until a game is on sale.

More often than not you will see a massive disparity between what users say overall and what pro reviewers score.

Terminator Resistance is one such game and I ask why are "pro reviews" averaging 6.0 and Users 8.1? Maybe they are annoyed that some big developer didn't throw loads of money at making a true AAA Terminator game. But ultimately I don't know and I don't care but what is important is that Terminator Resistance is actually a gem of a game. It won't win awards for graphics and doesn't push any boundaries or do anything new. But what it does it does well.

It is a Semi open post-apocalyptic world that captures the atmosphere of the Terminator series well.

Graphics and animations are fine for a 2019 cross platform game and while they could be better I can't complain because I have seen worse in some so called AAA games.

Decent RPG aspects that are not convoluted or overly complicated. It is nice to have skills logically presented, like increase health, increase weapon damage and that is perfectly fine and all that is required. I don't need fancy graphics or animations when I'm selecting a skill to increase.

Decent storyline with some decisions that affect the final outcome and you do end up caring about some of these people.

Combat is fine as long as you accept it is an action RPG arcade style shooter. No it doesn't have weapon recoil or ballistics and thin bits of wood stop bullets etc.

Audio is great and again captures the sounds of the movies perfectly.

Coming against your first Terminators with ineffective weapons is a genuinely cool and tense moment. The developers stuck very well to the lore of the first 2 monies and the story does make sense when taken into the context of these movies. So if you are a Terminator movie fan you will enjoy finding the little Easter eggs like the Tech Noir nightclub etc. You can forgive the dated but more than decent graphics for a 2019 game and just enjoy the experience of playing the best Terminator game that has been released to date.

I don't care about graphics, not everyone has the budget for it, I just want a good game. It didn't know if it wanted to be a shooter or a stealth game and did very poor at both so neither was fun. You couldn't just run out there and start shooting because you need to conserve ammo and if multiple enemies detected you it would be difficult to survive. If you tried to be stealthy it was very difficult to sneak around since it's very linear. You move very slowly unless you sprint and the enemies move around fast so sneaking around objects felt frustrating. You could only use thermal vision if you didn't run...and made walking even slower and you couldn't see your objective markers while using it so it was very annoying constantly clicking it on and off. If they focused on making it either a real shooter or a real stealth game it could have been good but trying to make it both and doing it poorly just felt like I was in a straight jacket and couldn't do anything. The mechanics might have worked if it was open world like Fallout because at least then there'd be plenty of space to sneak around.

It seems most people are comparing this game to other Terminator games...in that case, it's probably kinda good.

Setting the score a tick higher (probably a 7.5 or 8) than I feel about it, to offset at least one review that issued a "0" but then spoke positively about it, and hopefully, also the critics' reviews.
Oftentimes, critics forget what it's like to allow themselves to enjoy a game whilst condemning its flaws without much leniency... even when acknowledging WHY there should be leniency. TR is budget-priced, and as such, there's some issues- voice acting is hit or miss, sound FX are missing some serious "oomph!" And load times can be a slog.
BUT, despite these issues & a lack of big budget visuals, they deliver a game that should have been made years ago, and it occasionally feels like it's from last generation.
TR just... delivers. Its early gameplay is arguably when it's at its best, as you feel helpless with ammo in short supply- but, once you begin gathering more to your arsenal, it gives you that feeling of going from a survivor of Judgment Day to an actual Resistance fighter. You can hold your own, you can win, but if you're short of staying alert, you WILL die.
This game very much IS the T-800 endoskeleton. You hope it's the beginning of something better, the beneficiary of good sales (thankfully, it seeks like gamers themselves are enjoying it more than the critics,) and sales are reinvested into making this a first game in a series, with muscle comparavle to Arnold's added to beef it up, adding more options, perhaps an open world ratger than open "contained" maps that branch from the hub, better skills, and even more to a story that has ended up being arguably the best in a franchise that's been treading water after T2 hit theaters.
There's "lite" crafting, leveling, skills, NPC reaction to decisions, and so many other options that have taken their cue from bigger FPS/RPG franchises, and while all these simply cannot compete against AAA big budget studios, it's appreciated that it's there at all and hopefully a sign of what the devs would like to grow upon should they find enough success to make a sequel.
And that's part of the issue with small studios attempting to tackle an empire of Hollywood franchises- smaller studios are limited. Appreciating what they've managed to accomplish AS a small studio, rather than critics lambasting them for whats been limited by budget, only threatens to ensure a great effort put into TR won't get expanded upon because critics simply no longer have the ability to think critically or cut some slack where budgets ran dry.

Absolutely give TR a go! Prior to buying it myself, I took to user reviews to aid in my decision. As one person said, "there's Terminator, T2, and then Terminator Resistance as my official "head canon, THAT'S IT". It's not going to win any prestigious awards, but it's clear the devs have love for the film franchise and made tye best Terminator game they could, and it turned out to he one heck of a fun time, blemishes and all.

    1. Yes, it is linear and it does not take a genius to figure out the plot twists, they are quite simple. At first I tought the twist would be like in Terminator Salvation (the stranger that helps the protagonist could have been also a cyborg), but they played safer. Levels can be explored easily. Although the game would have became more difficult recurring enemies would have raised the anxiety level and tension in the game. This way you can just sweep the levels clean and be sure that you won't encounter anymore Skynet units.
    2. The mini games (lock picking and hacking) are real fun, and I also liked the upgrade function of the guns with chips.
    3. The characters do not look nice, they are mostly brick faced people. Skynet units though look good.
    4. The AI is pretty dumb. At the first levels you can simply hide in houses because the Terminators patrol the streets, they do not come in. This AI flaw is compensated on some levels with brutal power. At the last levels you (on hard difficulty) it takes a second to be terminated. There are some levels that are real fun because you can outsmart (with stealth kills etc.) the Skynet units, but there are also battlefield levels on which you can only rely on your guns (less fun to me).
    5. You can sleep with Baron and Jessica, but the sex is really cringy :D
    6. The saving system is crap. You have to reach saving points to activate an autosave option. Otherwise on some levels there are computers in the rooms where you can save your progress. This is really demotivating, I think it is a really bad way to add more difficulty to a game.
    7. Overall it is enjoyable, it looks old, the plot is quite simple but logical.

Hmmm. This game gives a great answer to a question "What makes a game good".

Certainly it's not the colors. Because, well, duh, if you depict a bleak future, it's just that - BLEAK.
Certainly it's not microtransactions or skins or anything like that. Because there's none of that here.
Certainly it's not "procedurally generated survival roguelike horror with crafting" or somesuch nonsense. Because while there's crafting in the game, it's not strictly necessary. I think you can finish the game without resorting to crafting, if you want to. And every level is meticulously crafted by hand.

What's left? Gameplay, story and emotion.
The core gameplay mechanics are engaging as hell. You start off being weak and afraid and scavenging for hours on end trying not to cross paths with machines, and every time you stumble into an encounter, it's a challenge. But not so much a challenge that you become Sir Die-a-lot. Then you grow, learn, become cocky and start dying more... And by the end you are a seasoned veteran who learned all the ropes, chose a playstyle that suits you best and drop terminators by the dozen (and even bigger things . You can rush or take it slow. You can stealth it or go in guns blazing ("MY FACE IS MY SHIELD!" intensifies). You can just blow everything up. Your choice. All options are valid.

Story-wise, the game does great by doing what recent movies fail to do. IT STAYS TRUE AND RESPECTFUL OF THE CORE STORY, building on it and expanding but never contradicting or compromising. Given how much timey-wimey stuff is included in the core story, this is hard to pull off, and the game does it just fine.
Yes, it could do better at making some of the NPCs more than cardboard cutouts... but at the very least you can resonate with the story of your non-silent protagonist, and grasp the motivations of main driving personalities behind the plot, and apply your own knowledge of the universe to serendipitously influence the decisions your character made... and then you even are justified in-game for doing that. Won't spoil further, but this is actually good.

Thank you for making this game, Teyon.

Critics giving it a total of 60, there's something very wrong with you.

Yeah, this game doesn't have excellent graphics, doesn't have large levels, but this game has an excellent story, excellent immersion into a story, immersion into a character, when you play, you believe that you are Rivers.

This is "Terminator story" I've waited so long.
Movies are trash-terminators since "Terminator 3", but this game made it!
For "Terminator 1 & 2" fans, I would say game worth it, at least because of story (take Easy mode if needed).

An engaging and surprisingly polished 15 hours. The game does not particularly excel at any of its combined gameplay elements, but it's solid nonetheless. It's also frequently on sale, and definitely worth the asking price if you are a fan of the Terminator franchise. I think the developers did the best they could with what they had, and I appreciate their effort.

If you watched the opening of the first Terminator film, man against machine in the urban apocalyptic hellscape, and thought, "This looks amazing. I want more of this," well, this is the game for you.

The game builds upon and ties into the first two Terminator films (you know, the GOOD ones), though it's mostly fixated on its own story. You play as Jacob Rivers, a Resistance soldier who has to sneak and shoot his way through the ruins of California to protect the last survivors and turn the tide against Skynet before its military wipes humanity from the face of Earth. Along the way, you'll build relationships and make a few tough choices that determine how your story ends. My first playthrough looks to have been about 15-16 hours, and as soon as I'm done with this review I'm starting my second playthrough.

At its core, this is a first person stealth shooter. Over the game, Jacob will have access to a wide arsenal of weapons and tools, from handguns and rifles of the late 20th century to plasma rifles, missile launchers, improvised grenades, tripmines, and even specialized knives designed to bring down Terminators in one stab (if you're brave enough to get close enough to use it). There's a modest weapon customization system as well to build your plasma weapons to suit your needs, as well as a simple crafting system to turn the junk of the Californian wasteland into the gear you need to survive.

But Jacob is only human, and the best way past a kill squad of Terminators is rarely straight through it. You'll have to take advantage of the world around you to set traps and ambushes, sneak past tougher threats, or run away if you get in over your head. The environments are well designed to suit multiple playstyles, which fits well with the game's RPG leveling system that broaden Jacob's capabilities to handle dangers. Still, this a game about playstyle rather than numbers, so you don't need to worry too much about not being able to sneak if you don't put any points into Stealth. Enemy variety is pretty good, and each enemy requires its own approach. Level design alternates between linear set-piece missions and non-linear exploration, with frequent returns to hideouts to talk to other survivors and gear up for the next outing.

The game is well optimized, only giving me a few rare stutters on the highest settings on my four-year-old laptop. It's not the most graphically-advanced game, but it does a great job presenting the aesthetics of the films (much like Alien: Isolation did with the film Alien). The voice acting rides the line between okay and pretty good, while the sound effects and music are simply spectacular.

I have very few complaints about this game. The story and characters could have benefitted from a bit more effort, and it would have been neat to get some unique encounters with especially dangerous Terminators. But I was grinning ear-to-ear the entire time I played this game. I'd give it a 9.5/10, which I'm more than happy to round up to 10/10. Teyon deserves a lot of praise for making this terrific game, and I very strongly recommend it.

Your actions have consequences so if you do the side quests which are supplied by characters, you can grow a relationship and change the outcome. These side quests are fetch quests, but they are in the open world mission so you can complete them whilst completing the main mission so it okay.

Also there are romance scenes, you don't see anything. I don't really think they are needed, but who cares.

You can complete a couple times and it takes around 10 hours for one play through, it took me a bit longer first time.

    - Extremely dull enemy AI. Enemies will either 1) stand still and shoot at you, or 2) walk directly towards you and shoot at you, In either case having very little to no interest in avoiding damage.
    - Enemies are hard to kill, which makes in-universe sense but doesn't work well together with the dull AI.
    - Overly long reload cycles and general unresponsiveness in throwing grenades and similar.
    - Lazy old-school player deaths resetting all progress including loot you've recently picked up, items you've recently crafted and voice lines you've already heard causing a distinct feeling of wasted time.
    - Hilarious sex scene.

As I sat there as a kid, watching the short future war sequence, I always wanted there to be...more. Sadly, it took more than 20 years to deliver.

As I sat there as a kid, watching the short future war sequence, I always wanted there to be...more.

Sadly, it took more than 20 years to deliver. But as I started the game, and heard the still awesome soundtrack, it finally arrived. It's hard to describe how I felt inside, once I had to hide from the first T800, with that pumping machine drone sound in the background and with a completely useless weapon in my hand.

Later in the game, you reach a resistance hideout and it looked so...right. I instantly started to look for a burning tv set...and I found it...I was finally there....*tears up*

Still, if you want to be really honest, this is a just-above-mediocre oldschool shooter. The KI isn't good, and the animations of the non-terminator npcs look quite clunky, but I don't care. This is what I always wanted, since Kyle Reese told me about the dogs.

    7/10 for pure gameplay
11/10 for any oldschool terminator fan.

Terminator: Resistance has all the makings of a cult classic, and I think that will be its role in games. But what it nails is expanding the terminator narrative in a way that nothing has done since Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The facial animations may come off as primitive, and the voice acting isn't great, but the story is good enough and the atmosphere is immersive enough, that I just don't care.

The gunplay is proficient, but not excellent. The enemies are tough, but not bullet sponges. The weapons are diverse and interesting. By the time you get bored with your allotment, more are on the way. The skill tree is sufficient for the game, with little of it going to waste. The game has no open world bloat from collectables or meaningless upgrades. There are no micro transactions of any kind.

The only true tragedy of this game is there isn't enough of it. It cries out for an expansion pack, a sequel or something. Because I was filled with horror when I hit max level in the game. I knew the game was ending soon. And I was not ready to be done with it. But the last mission was so good, and cemented my love for the game even more. Because it seamlessly linked into the beginning of Terminator and Terminator 2. It was the perfect way to end the game.

Let's hope that we see more from Teyon like this in the future. It's an amazing game that you should not miss.

This game is surprisingly not bad. 7.5/10. Giving it an 8 so that it's green.

It's a good effort to make a AA game. Shooting is fine. Exploring the maps is fun. Fighting is fun. Looting and scavenging is fun. Story is okay. Sound is okay too. Music is varied and good. All in all, this isn't nearly as bad as review sites are saying it is. We need more decent terminator games like this.

My only problem with the game is, although it's fun, it's too easy. After 2 hours you'll become an unstoppable killing/sneaking machine, mowing down terminator after terminator. Hopefully in future patches they can increase the difficulty of the game because right now it really needs a bit more challenge.

Also, considering these are the guys that made the horrible Rambo game, they've come a long way. Good on them.

Some characters have some sad backstories, and I really thought about the choices I had to make to ensure that they survive.

Graphics are nice, however I cannot look away from the facial animations. I've seen PS2 and XBOX 360 games with better facial animations. It occurs to me that the facial animations are better(not by a lot but slightly over the "uncanny valley") during the sex scenes, which remind me of watching soft core movies on HBO 20 years ago.

Music isn't varied, but you do get the classic songs from Terminator 2. I really got into it when the Hospital music from T2 started up the first time I had to figure out how to escape a building crawling with T-800. Gets the job done....

Game is way too short, there is also an XP cap which kind of sucks, and the game doesn't reward you for exploring, chests just have supplies and materials, you can get through the game without having to craft much, I found myself only crafting like maybe 7 times total the entire time I played the game. Right when I felt like I got the combat down and I had the ability to take our HK Aerial the final quest was upon me.

If you love Terminator 2 and want to have a game to complete over the weekend without having to invest much time into grinding, then this is definitely worth the purchase.

I gave it a 9 only due to some small issues however overall it is an absolutely brilliant game for a non-AAA title. While graphically it could look better, the story is good - with your choices affecting the ending - and I'll say it, no microtransactions! Sound is great for the weapons, weapons sound as you would expect and know from previous films, ambience is brilliant. Voice acting is up and down, in both volume and delivery but doesn't really detract from the overall story. The only problem I really have (which I've read is being fixed) is there seems to be minimal difference between difficulty levels.

The side missions are a nice little touch and a reason to explore the map more, or kill more tin cans, whichever you feel like. I have done two playthroughs so far and considering I already know most of what happens, it's still fun. It's enjoyable to be in the future war, to be a soldier fighting Skynet.

"Review Websites" may not enjoy the game because it's not a AAA title that's entirely polished, or may be missing "current gen features" - it has Aim Down Sights, ability to use medkits, and an unlockable health regen system. I think the player rating says it all, in this case. Great game, some flaws, nothing game breaking. I would gladly play this repeatedly and gladly buy a sequel or DLC should they ever materialize.

Edit: This is a pre large patch as I understand it, will update after patch. Would also add the characters you tend to actually care about, rather than having them as just throwaways, especially if you learn their stories.

It's basically Fallout in the Terminator universe.

I'm shocked this turned out to be good, but it did.

These guys did a better game than any of Bethesda's offerings from 1/100 of Bethesda's budget.

I really hope this sells well and we'll get a AAA+ budget game from Teyon later.

Unfortunately one of the first things wrong you may notice with this game is the stiff animation of the human NPCs (thankfully the terminators are animated beautifully). The hit and miss voice acting can be distracting but this can all be overlooked because you can see, hear and feel the love for the source material and lore the developers had.

All that is well and good but no game is perfect and this game definitely has it's flaws, for starters it's to damn easy, for some reason the devs thought the players were idiots and needed all sorts of annoying HUD elements such as detection meter and min map along with floating icons above enemies that see you its just frustrating to see such an immersive world but get pulled out because of red bars and floating triangles, and for some reason the super smart AI that took over the world can't see you from more than 50 ft away combine that with slow reactions and weak searching for the player then stealthing is a joke even on the hardest difficulty (the only difficulty worth playing in my opinion) and i'm not even going to talk about wall hack vision. i think it's important i also talk about the very generic skill tree and basic loot system both of which i feel like were there just to artificially fill in the game with more content, loot isn't needed because there's a trader and a trader isn't needed because there's loot (if that makes sense) on my first run (hard mode) i was on the last mission with 50 first aid kits and about 20 medkit II and 2000+ rounds of ammo and at least 50k supplies because i would just pick up terminators guns and sell them repeatedly (I never needed to buy from the trader once in the entire game) and if lockpicking or hacking didn't have varying difficulties you would be able to play the game without spending any skill points (if you don't care about those 2 things then you probably could get through the game with no skill points spent).

    Pros:
    +Amazing Soundtack
    +Amazing Sounds in general
    +immersive atmosphere
    +faithful to source material
    +Plays fairly well
    +good story

    Cons:
-Voice acting is hit and miss
    -stiff animations (sometimes)
    -seemingly useless mechanics
    -Game is too easy

I haven't talked about everything but i hope this gives you an idea about what you're getting into. All-in-all i'd say its worth a play and a must buy if you're a terminator fan. "He's a man, not a god, come on comrades."

On the downside the graphics are a bit too dark and muddy at times and the stingy approach to ammo allocation could have been eased off somewhat. I'm also not convinced employing lock picking really adds much to this game either as it tends to slow things down.

That said this is still one of the better titles in a year of pretty crummy games.

But most important to me.....the atmosphere in this game IS terminator cannon to 100% which makes the good story even more fun to play through.

Looking forward to see if they make a sequel or even a dlc for this one.

I took the forum advice and played on Extreme, I would recommend the same. You will die easily from a few direct hits but at the same time the AI is not quite ruthless enough to take advantage. All in all a decent balance considering you are going up against all of SkyNet. I would rate the game as a Terminator 1 and 2 fan

I would rate the game as a Terminator 1 and 2 fan (the other movies don't count as far as I'm concerned) as probably an 8/10. If you a re not a Terminator fan, YOU get a 0/10 because these movies rocked and you don't.

The graphics are decent but we all know there are better graphical games out there so I won't belabor that point. If you're skulking around in the dark with no plasma weapons and T-800's are patrolling you don't have time to check the license plate on a destroyed car to make sure it has California tags.

The crafting is weak, basically you pick up junk and make way more equipment than you need. The weapon mods are ok but I was more entertained with the different weapons than the actual mods. It's bad ass when you finally get plasma weaponry and can start attacking the Terminators.

The throwing system for pipe bombs and canister grenades is terrible, you better aim straight or it's coming back in your face.

The characters are weak, I mostly skipped through their BS talking.

Some of the music is awesome such as the old school Terminator theme and the T-1000 chase music from the 2nd movie, and some sucks. Very repetitive. But it fits with the game.

The sounds are great and totally nail the Terminator movies. Plasma weaponry = PERFECT sound and totally captures the feel of the game. Overhead HK's can be heard through the fog so you have time to get to cover before they are on top of you.

And of course, SkyNet. There are some basic enemies that I'm not sure needed to be in the game and they aren't anything to write home about. The first time you see a T-800 however, it is freaky as hell and at the same time you can't help but smile. They capture the the slow, deliberate movements pretty damn well and it's fun to watch them during fire fights. The Infiltrators are bad ass and tough to beat without advanced weaponry. There are some huge enemies I won't mention that were not in the first two movies that are tough to get around and you really don't want to fight them either. HK Aerials are bad ass when attacking you and fun to hide from, makes you feel as if you are in the movie. HK Tanks and gatling plasma = BAD ASS, nothing more needs to be said.

The only thing we need now is to expound upon this series and have a multiplayer style, Terminator vs Resistance game. I'm sure everyone that plays this wishes they could be the Infiltrator laying waste to a hideout, or the HK Tank gunning down a platoon of weak-stick humans only to get blown up by a canister grenade under their treads.

All in all, I was happy I bought the game. The few minutes of each T1 and T2 movie that showed the future war was what we all wanted to play and see and this game delivers. HK Aerials overhead with spotlights, T-800's advancing on the resistance fighters with their slow, methodical killing pace, sneaking around buildings to do objectives.. it's all here.

I will have to admit that Terminator: Resistance is probably the best Terminator game every made but people also said that Terminator : Dark Fate was the best movie since Terminator 2. And the bar was not really that high to begin with.

Don't get me wrong. Terminator 1 and 2 is one of the best action movies ever made and I really like the lore and apocalyptic theme. But I think this is a missed opportunity here. I would really liked to have seen a Alien : Isolation type of game. More hiding, sneaking and really feel that the Terminators are dangerous and scary for real.

My advice is to wait for a price drop before buying. 20-25$ seems resonable.

    # Pros #
    * The atmosphere is there.
    * Music and sound effect are quite ok.
    * Story is also quite ok that.
    * Som RPG elements as crafting, skill trees, ability points and more.

    # Neutral #
    * With all the upgraded weapons the terminators don't really feels that powerful or frightening anymore. You yourself is more dangerous then a army of T-800s.
    * Graphics from 2010.
    * Feels like a 25$ game. One good thing it's only 40$ / 40 €

    * Took me about 9 hours to complete the game.

Tooo easy, even on extreme I barely died, terminators cant be hurt with bullets and pibe bombs, but with the first plasma rifle it became a cakewalk.
Need much more resilient Terminators, the fight against the infiltrator was the best part of the game, he just kept coming on, and soaked a ton of fire! -I even died once there, but only once. Id rather have the Terminators being more rare, but really tough so you need to kite, lure into ambushes ex.

Overall though- VERY enjoyable game, and as a "old boy" who was hot on T2 as a kid Id say this is by far THE BEST terminator game to date! - its well worth my money! I hope they will do a nr 2 or lots of DLC or modding community picks up on this and make more content.

So heres the deal, the game isn't a looker, and AI in the game is... not bad, but dumb so play the game on the hardest difficulty. Overall the game doesn't reinvent the wheel but nor does it really do much wrong either gameplay is pretty fun with some tense moments, the story and characters are good and for the most part I didn't mind the voice acting either though some delivery and performances even I found cringe-worthy. Theres a lot of fan service in the game, and most importantly it sounds and feels like a Terminator film (the good ones, that is).

On a scale of 1-10 if you are a general gamer with no appreciation of the Terminator films then this game is likely a 6, not bad, not good, has some nice moments, but ultimately not much beyond that. For Terminator fans however it is a solid 7 (8 is generous, and I feel what some people are giving it to offset the unfairly harsh critic scores) for all of the aforementioned reasons. The few areas the game does really fall down is graphically, some more polish here really would have paid off, smarter AI, and levels that had more life to them, respawning enemies for instance. On PC I also have high hopes that modders will give this game some improvements which if you are a Terminator fan would then likely bump it up to an 8, if you can find this game for £25 or so and you are a Terminator fan it is certainly worth a play and you'll have fun but theres not enough here to be paying more than that.

On the beginning I did not have expectations for this game, especially with they previous abomination Rambo : The Video Game, but... surprisingly this game is good/decent :) atmosphere of future war is here, T-800 looks great, story and other stuff is ok. For all whining kids about graphics/old models/boring story, etc. - it's not an AAA game title, with 500 mil budget, with Red Dead Redemption 2 graphics and phisics that will have some huge impact in game industry.
If you want to play a decent FPS with RPG element, with ok graphics, good atmosfere, with some different story than current generation its game for you - especially if you are the Terminator fan (we waited a looong time to see another T-based game).
I hope they will add some DLC to this game or maybe made another game in this universe !! :)

it feels close to t1 future scenes movie. its better than fallout 3 4 terminator mods better than old skynet game but bcouse of not openworld or battlefield like game fees like call of duty terminator. game respect cameron vision like you cant shoot normal guns with real terminators you need plasma rifle. have skill tree and good dialog system and crafting hacking etc. the openningit feels close to t1 future scenes movie. its better than fallout 3 4 terminator mods better than old skynet game but bcouse of not openworld or battlefield like game fees like call of duty terminator. game respect cameron vision like you cant shoot normal guns with real terminators you need plasma rifle. have skill tree and good dialog system and crafting hacking etc. the openning missions little generic you dont encounter real terminators but after a while action start to get close future terminator scenes. best terminator game yet stil not that mature about characters but this game not a movie. music is good feels more like t1 music. game tone more like quality between t1 and t2 future scenes but at least do the job about skins weapns vehicles bluce sky red purple lasers tone is right here first time in any terminator game. graphics really good even you can compare night vision for call of duty mw level. ı think best movie game after alien isolation game. for me better in some ways bcouse that was 1 alien at least here many termşnators looking for you and some parts feels grand war like t1 future scene but sadly still not feels like t2 future scenes. ı wish it have multiplayer or lan like alien colinial mariens with bots etc bcouse some maps big enough and gunplay good. if this game come call of duty 4 times 2007 it can be hit easly good thing not like alien islolation graphics 9 sure. It is an old engine yes, AI is predictible yesbut that's why It is lovely, it is supposed to have feeling of 90s The movie comes from 90s, the story is put in 1997 but in not far future after apocalypse. The atmosphere is there. Finally something went out of the comfort zone. I love this old shcool playing and developers clearly wanted to be it like this. I love the little diskette loading and saving icon. Yes I'm from 90's, the music keeps it intense while walking through a post-apocaliptic wasteland. I have set the difficulty to hard so fights are more dangerous and I love there's no quick save but you have to find computer. The game makes me nervous and excited even when there's no action happening. Lot of people are complaining because the graphic is not much and faces and details are low quality. I don't think it's that bad. Go and try demo or watch a gameplay to see. for me it is great game. Terminator is back and I hope there will be other projects coming up in future. Expand

Good game about terminators. The atmosphere, an interesting setting, a variety of mechanics, scenes as if from a movie. If the game’s budget were larger, the game would easily become a hit.

Great game for people that watched the first two movies in the early 90s. I just couldn't stop till the ending. This game is better than most of AAA-crap big publishers release nowadays. It made me feel a kid again.

Very atmospheric game with nice background music. Visuals are ok, in line with terminator movie. Absolutely recommend to try it out even if you are not fan of fps style games.

Terminator: Resistance shows a bunch of potential, even if it doesn't always meet it. I was happily surprised with deeper than expected progression, and great dialogue and relationship building. But playing the game I feel stuck in the past, with visuals from yesteryear meeting good but standard gunplay. The worst part is watching the newest piece, the Annihilation Line DLC, take a step back. The Wolfenstein series does better in this sub-genre, but Terminator: Resistance is still a lot of fun to play, which says something about where it could go if Teyon gets another shot.

As a shooter, Resistance is rather mediocre. But as a Terminator game, it's great. [Issue#244, p.52]

Boasts about all of its additional mechanics but it doesn’t quite pull off being a regular shooter while looking like from a decade ago. [01/2020, p.56]
