Submerged: Hidden Depths is a melancholic and gorgeous exploration adventure that represents an interesting option for those looking for a relaxed and enjoyable fable, despite its monotonous progress and lack of real challenge.

If you are well aware of the nature of the game and what it offers, it is possible to have a good time in the heart of Submerged: Hidden Depths. Thanks to its absolutely delightful universe, its peaceful rhythm and its neat soundtrack, the title of Uppercut Games does not claim to be anything other than what it is: a simple experience of exploration and of contemplation. Despite everything, drowned under a ton of dispensable collectibles and served by an optimization not always perfected, Submerged Hidden Depths certainly does better than its predecessor, but does not completely manage to embark us in its universe.

Looking for a challenge? Then Submerged: hidden depths is not the right game for you. After all, this game is meant to be a quiet adventure, and it is. Maybe even a little too quiet.

Submerged: Hidden Depths is the definition of wasted potential. The setting is a rare treat that deserve to be experienced, but the world is too empty of significant content and the gameplay is too straightforward without any challenging aspects. This ocean might be quite beautiful, but it’s far too shallow.

Submerged: Hidden Depths is full of beautiful post-apocalyptic landscapes, but the gameplay will still put you to sleep.

Although Submerged: Hidden Depths can work excellently in concept, it is advisable to play the game in short sessions. Otherwise, you will get desperately bored.

It is setup in a dystopian future with a strong ecological message (silent but strong). The game is quite simple tho. Even the platforming elements are automatically done. No fighting, this is an exploration game with a very relax approach. The music is pretty good, the graphics aren't always perfect. You have some clipping and tears at places. But I must say that the water rendering is fabulous. The sailing is fun and very easy on the movements. I give the game 82%. Because of the tone and atmosphere. The game isn't very challenging, and the bother/sister interactions could have been deeper, but it was a nice and relax game to play. Full Review »
