A drowned city, crumbling tips of skyscrapers stubbornly standing above the waves. Deserted villages, now inhabited by enigmatic creatures. And beneath the surging ocean waits an anguished, angry presence.

Submerged: Hidden Depths is a non-combat third-person “relaxploration” adventure, set in the sunken ruins of a beautiful world. Take on the role of Miku and Taku – one cursed with a mysterious power that she wants to use for good, the other determined not to let it tear them apart.

Boat across tranquil waters and storm-driven white-caps, explore and climb what remains of a once-towering city, and scour the buildings for the seeds of its salvation.

Submerged: Hidden Depths succeeds in being a relaxing exploration game. With a gorgeous world, good puzzles, and an ample amount of collectables to uncover, it wouldn’t be surprising if it started appearing on those ‘top ten cosy games’ compilations on TikTok.

This game does an impressive job of making you not give a **** about it. On PS4, the graphics look PS2 era, with awful clipping. There’s little story telling since the brother and sister only talk in their native lingo which none of us understand, and with limited subtitles… so in-game banter is useless, which means hardly any character development. I’ve explored about 50% of the world map and it all looks the same, with the same tasks over and over again. I blame my wasted dollars on Indie Gamers’ review, which dubbed this a “masterpiece”, that guy was utterly full of crap. Wait for this to go on sale at $10 if you must try it, otherwise skip. 3/10 only because the score is pretty decent, I’ll give it that. Expand
