    This game is absolutely an insult to human intelligence. Sponsored as if it were the game of life, we then discover after hours and hours of gameplay that this game is literally the cosmic void. Non-existent artificial intelligence, embarrassing shooting system, repetitive and boring side missions, continuous loading and almost useless RPG system. The final blow that makes this game a realThis game is absolutely an insult to human intelligence.     Did not enjoy it at all. Did feel like a game from 2010. No joy of taking off the ship or landing it. Alot of fast travels, more like the whole game is a big fast travel..

    Starfield isn’t a perfect game. No game is. That said, for a game to have this much ambition and actually pull off almost everything it set out to accomplish is a remarkable achievement. I haven’t even talked about some of the game’s most interesting elements, such as how it approaches New Game+, which I can’t wait for more players to see. Starfield is a triumph that I’m confident playersStarfield isn’t a perfect game. No game is.     I can't believe this is the best that Bethesda could do. I'm highly disappointed on every possible level. Loading screen after loading screen, boring exploration, horrible storyline the FPS combat is horrible you can't even lean in the game.     Played it for about 40 minutes, then returned it. First off, the pronoun thing absolutely took me out of the game. I don’t play games to be reminded of our current reality. Secondly, it’s boring. People say it gets better 10+ hours in, but I wasn’t convinced. I’ll pick it up when it goes on sale, but not worth $70.

    25 years to make with the mechanics of a mobile game. This game is clearly unfinished, and the single most unstable port I've ever witnessed. Outside of its unfinished state, there may be plenty of content, but it is all mindless and vapid. The single worst main story I've ever experienced in a video game. It is an excuse to justify NG+ and contradicts itself constantly. Without the25 years to make with the mechanics of a mobile game. Without the PC port issues there would be some fun to have, especially for a free game, but when the developer claims they made planets boring on purpose because space is boring, you can glean the reality that they even realize it is a mediocre offering at best. Beat the game in 10 hours with the mining laser as my only weapon. Played 30 more to see if it ever gets good. Too bad I can't get a refund on my time, because it remains utterly dull. I've never reviewed anything before, but micro-thesda needs to be held accountable for this fraudulent release. I can only imagine how those who spent 300$ feel.… Expand

    A space exploration RPG unlike any other, because it fails at every conceivable aspect of the game that could be interesting or fun. Never in my life have I been more disappointed by a game, and more bewildered by the amount of great reviews by critics.     Garbage game that doesn't live up to previous Bethesda titles and forced "preferred pronouns" that are forced on people. They say it's not a big deal, but then they ban mods that remove the "preferred pronoun" bs.

    Have fun with all the refunds people will be getting.

    One of the best games ive ever played. Folks are big mad over loading screens. They clearly dont remember the days of having to swap out the cd multiple times to play a game. Dont heed the haters.

    I was looking forward to this but sadly one of the blandest most uninspired games I've played in a while.

    The space side is odd, most of the action is FPS based ground / outpost based, almost nothing in actual space. You don't really have free-form flight, there is no sense of travel, you just fast travel everywhere. I love exploring, when playing games like Skyrim I rarely if ever    I was looking forward to this but sadly one of the blandest most uninspired games I've played in a while.

    The space side is odd, most of the action is FPS based ground / outpost based, almost nothing in actual space. You don't really have free-form flight, there is no sense of travel, you just fast travel everywhere.

    I love exploring, when playing games like Skyrim I rarely if ever use fast travel, I love just walking through the world exploring, feeling like I'm part of it. With Starfield you have to fast travel everywhere, exploring planets feels boring, you just pick a random spot to fast travel to and then walk around empty areas to the nearest procedurally generated waypoint to explore the same basic cut and pasted generated content. Nothing feels particularly epic or even interesting.

    The RPG aspects seem pretty much boiled down to an on-rails story and a bland skill tree. There are no really choices or ramifications for anything you say or do. Bar the main story side missions have no real affect on anything, dialogue choices affect almost nothing and the NPCs are wooden and uninteresting.

    Graphically the game looks very dated, the ships flying around in orbit look like they've just been pasted in and are being pulled around on string like cardboard cutouts, New Atlantis looks particularly bad. Neon looks better but not by much.

    NPCs are just pathing around, they look like copy / paste clones, there are no schedules or life to them.

    Loading screens abound, almost everything has a loading screen, entering a building..loading, taking off..loading, landing..loading, using an elevator..loading, you get the idea.

    The UI is truly awful, each screen seems to have it's own shortcuts using the same keys for different actions, there is no consistency. On one screen it might be Q and T to scroll through tabs, on another it might be Z and C. One screen might using Tab to exit, another uses Esc.

    The controls in the ship builder and output builder are especially bad, placing components on your ship should be quite easy, but trying to drag a component from one level of the ship to another horrible. The output builder is even worse, the overhead camera view has some of the weirdest controls I've come across with mouse-X rotating and mouse-Y zooming, mouse-wheel changing item, left and right buttons rotating the item. And rotate isn't snapped at all, it's almost impossible to align anything with each other or the outpost walls. Games like Satisfactory, Space Engineers and pretty much anything do a much better job.

    The game might improve, I've only played for 20 hours, but I don't feel like sinking any more time into it. I've more than enough other games to play, RPGs with great RPG mechanics, space games with actual space flight and story driven games with far more compelling stories.

    TLDR;

    Space game without real space travel
    RPG without any ability to actually play a role and have any impact
    Ship and outpost builder with awful UI
    Living world with lifeless NPCs

I’ve enjoyed Doom, Wolfenstein, Elderscrolls, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, anything that Bethesda has spent money on Publishing or Producing I’ve considered the greatest games of all time. HOWEVER, something happened in 2016 that turned Bethesda onto the path of producing trash games. Fallout 4 was trash and it shouldn’tI’ve been a fan of Bethesda for 20 years as my first game was Quake 2. Redfall is a monstrosity that never should have existed. Fallout 76 should have never existed. Now Starfield, a game that should not exist. Ever since they’ve sold out to Microsoft, it’s like they’ve been making games with these loony tunes looking graphics as it seems their new target audience is anyone under the age of 12. Rest in Peace Bethesda, I’m not looking forward to ES6 or anything you produce ever again. It’s a sad year in gaming history, we’ve lost some of the best.… Expand

There is no momentum.(You're in space I promise you there is momentum.)

    Flying your space ship in 1st person is nauseating. 3rd person is required and even then is not a 'fun' experience. Looting requires you to fly to each ship to press e on them where as mining on land it auto loots. Changing power allocation on your ship mid flight for combat is not engaging. If they could allow for power allocation presets it would be more enjoyable.

    Game tries to get you to use their cover system, but it feels like you're fighting with the games programming to even trigger the cover action. Bullets shoot from the tip, but they do not shoot straight out the barrel they go diagonal from the barrel to the cursor.

    The faces are jarringly bad. Not uncanny valley bad. If anything it looks like a mannequin. Eyelids don't line up and clip through the eyeballs. The mouths look like they just came from the dentist and are fighting off being numbed up. I spent an hour in character creation to make something that I could at least at the end of the day like, but gave up because the creator was just awful to use and everything looked well.. bad.

    I've read many posts say the game gets good after 12-15hr. If the average person has time to play games for 1-3hr a day that is a week of playing the game before it pays off.

    I would not recommend this to anyone. I would not recommend it to people who like Bethesda games. I would not recommend it to people who like space exploration. I would not recommend it to anyone who likes resource gathering and base building.

    Jeu qui crash toutes les deux secondes sur un pc avec un bon i5 (4670 k => 4 X 3.4 Gh/z ) et une bonne carte graphique (rx550 Pule edition 4GB)
    Tous mes autres jeux passent même les watch dogs qui sont codés avec le c*l !
    Starfield est codé avec les culs de tous les animaux de la rue tellement il rame / plante / crash / etc .

    I can't find any of the awesomeness I felt when I played Elder Scrolls 5 and Fallout 4 back in the day. The poor optimization makes it even more of a disappointment.

    I fell in love with Starfield. It's my cup of sci-fi and I can't wait to spend the next thirty, fifty, maybe seventy hours here. I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

    In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
