I'm a fan of TES 4, 5, and Fallout 3, 4, and this is the first time I got stuck in the middle of a main quest with the glitch and was completely unplayable.

I cannot believe they are releasing the game like this. I want to write a lot of complaints about this, but I'm too sad right now, so I'll just leave this comment. I give up playing Starfield. bye Bethesda Softworks, from your

I've tried everything to enjoy this game, based on lots of YouTube videos from content creators telling me, this game is great. It's not a great game and its not even a good game. Its average at best.

The game mechanics, the AI, the story and everything in the game is outdated.

    - Space in the game hardly exists, because you have to use only fast travel anyway. You can't even land yourself.
    - and so on

For 20 years of development time of a company worth billions, which have as a goal to dominate the market, this is just an extremely bad joke. I can also in no way understand the 100 point ratings of some magazines. Since the game is already extremely bad. If Bethesda had rather put the money into the game than 90% into the PR, it could have been something.

I was so excited about this game. I have played a combined 1000 hours of Skyrim and Fallout 4. But wow. How does this game look older than Fallout 4? Why is the writing so painfully bad?

It’s the biggest, opennest, emptiest game yet… from Bethesda, at least. For better ships and graphics, play No Man’s Sky. For better plot and setting, play Fallout 4. For creepy rubber faces with awful

The best part of this game is it launched on Game Pass where you can sign up, try Starfield, and still have time to get the full Game Pass refund.

All those negative reviews come from the users upset this is an Xbox exclusive, so just ignore them.
I personally bought Xbox SX for Starfield alone and am very-very happy I did.
This the best game so far I've played this year and having said that I've barely even scratched the surface.
It's about time though that Xbox makes an analogy for a platinum trophy like PlayStation has

Far too many major performance issues on the pc. I have a problem with lag/stutter when un-scoping a weapon. It also lags /stutters when switching to the scanner. It didnt start till approx 20hrs of play.

    I wish i hadn't spent the money.

This game is such a disappointment that I've registered to Metacritic to give it a 3. I managed to play up to 2 hours and it became unbearable. It's like playing a game that was developed 20 years ago, that old Freelancer game had almost better graphics if not x10 more fun to play even today.

Sloppy details, space games where you can't travel in space, and freedom that you don't have. You can see completely degraded producers from previous works such as Skyrim and Fallout 4.

Very disappointed with the game. Shallow, boring, uninspiring. Very lazy work from the company I used to respect a lot. Bethesda, you can't just slap a new wallpaper on Fallout 4 and claim you worked on that for 7 years.

Bethesda being Bethesda, making the most disappointing game of the year. Full of jank and chores, no soul and no depth. Better avoid this one (look into No mans Sky for space exploration done right, or Baldurs Gate for an RPG done right).

Your companions are so dumb they are shooting the walls while shooting at the enemy. Then the graphics. The textures are good on characters imho but the lack of shading of shadows especially in the first planet it's just non existent it's really looking bad for a game that runs like a potato on an I7-13700k, Rtx3080, Ddr4 32gb 3200mhz. When you had your first meeting and go outside you see the grey concrete and the green vegentation it just looks like someone puked on the screen to be honest. The "ai" walking on the streets in the districts doesn't response on you shooting near them or aiming at them. It feels lifeless. Expand

That you encounter all of this within the first hour is the icing on the cake, it speaks to a lack of caring on the Bethesda side, they have to had seen these problems themselves yet they think it's good enough.

I really hope I can come back to revise the score after a patch or two...

Low framerate with such graphics and bad UI makes we wonder what the devs thought when releasing the game in such a state.

Feels like they tried doing a lot but there is no meat behind any of it, the only good thing is the ship builder honestly.
At least Diablo 4 had a good graphics and story.
Might up dropping starfield since Gamepass version apparently cant have SFSE to run most mods so not even mods can save the game for me.

It's so disjointed with all the loading screens. There's a lack of a map when exploring somewhere so you have no idea where anything else or if you've cleared a "dungeon". It's leaned too heavily into things Bethesda ISN'T known for (base building/resource gathering) and forgotten the roots that Bethesda IS loved for. Exploration and a sense of an expansive world to get side tracked in while on another mission. The gunplay and weapon variety is a nice step forward, but even then nothing that other games don't do much better.

The optimisation is awful for a game that looks mid tier, or a few years dated graphically.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. An awful blend of Mass Effect, NMS/Elite, Destiny 2 and every Bethesda game you've already played. Swirled together in a toilet to water down every element that made those games special. They did add some game-breaking new {{features}} err, bugs along with pages on pages of unfilterable menus to wade through compressed in a UI that looks like an Alpha build mock up. Anything another game can do in 2 clicks, this one will make you page through to do nearly everything - travel, manage inventory, assign crew, etc. This is not a game that can be redeemed with mods - there are fundamental flaws in game design, balance, performance and QA testing that make this a burden to play.

They also managed to make a far worse ending than Mass Effect 3, taking away all player choice and agency. A boring, anti-climatic denouement that feels meaningless and devoid of meaning or substance.

The worst Bethesda game since Redguard.

I fell in love with Starfield. It's my cup of sci-fi and I can't wait to spend the next thirty, fifty, maybe seventy hours here. I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
