    Best Star Wars game I've played so far (Cough cough thanks EA games). About 9 hours of gameplay, but has replay value due to storyline and combat being hand-in hand

    Easily one of the best games I have played. For a game 17 years old, it still holds up fantastically, and as an added bonus, its age makes the price low and very easy to run on max graphics. There haven't really been many star wars games that are so serious, and this game is a great change from the norm. Don't get me started on the music. It is so good and really makes you feel like aEasily one of the best games I have played.     It is a shooter game where you direct your team. I think it is of good quality for its type. I think you should play.

    The game needs a sequel, a tv adaptation, anything. The game ended, but for us, the fans, it is still very much in our minds.

    Throughout the game, I was always left with some type of emotion -- fear, joy, or even sadness. That might be because of my young age at the time (I was probably around 10 years old when I first got to play it) but nevertheless, those feelings stay with you,    The game needs a sequel, a tv adaptation, anything. The game ended, but for us, the fans, it is still very much in our minds.

    One of the better Star Wars games from a time when Star Wars games were at their best. Republic commando has a fun campaign with a great set of characters and an interesting story. Definitely a must play for any Star Wars fan!

    This game is gorgeous for it's time. I love the variety of enemies and the gameplay. The story is very interested and my squadmates have very cool personalities NOW STOP LOOKING AROUND AND GET SOME BACTA SOLDIER

    Great team management, story, visuals and music, which is straight from movies.
    Still playable to this date.

    Shows the true grittiness of the Clone War. The game has a great story, and gameplay features that really make it memorable, hell I even play it again and again sometimes.

    Republic Commando it's fantastic, even thinking that it's a 2005 game. It covers a period between the 2nd and 3rd Star Wars movies and you play as an elite Clone trooper. Its a 1st person    I was feeling nostalgic I start to browse my old games collection and that was when I think: "Star Wars", I have several old Star Wars games that I could retry and give a small updated review.

    Republic Commando it's fantastic, even thinking that it's a 2005 game. It covers a period between the 2nd and 3rd Star Wars movies and you play as an elite Clone trooper.

    Its a 1st person shooter with squad based control mechanics. It does not have nice graphics, by 2017 standards, and not even reach 1920x1080. Unfortunately for me I get issues to replay it on 2017, much likely due to some compatibility problem with Windows 10. But it was a game that I played when it was released and that I really do not forget the squad control mechanics that I mentioned before.

    It’s a “must have” classic for any gamer or Star Wars fan. Enjoy it, and “may the force be with you”!    … Expand

    The multiplayer is great, with great maps, balanced gameplay and you actually need strategy to win.
    But now, the focus of the game, single-player: The campaign is AMAZING, you play the leader in a squad of 4 stormtroopers that are superior to normal ones, and your assignment is to get behind enemy lines and destroy the enemy from within making the job of the    Best underrated FPS ever!!
    The multiplayer is great, with great maps, balanced gameplay and you actually need strategy to win.
    But now, the focus of the game, single-player:
    The campaign is AMAZING, you play the leader in a squad of 4 stormtroopers that are superior to normal ones, and your assignment is to get behind enemy lines and destroy the enemy from within making the job of the army easier.
    The gunplay is AMAZING, with an average diversity but every weapon created is really awesome. There are a lot of different grenades that will be used in different scenarios. Enemies are diverse and situations get progressively harder. The AI of them is good enough to not break immersion.
    As the leader, you get full control of your squad mates, in defense positions, sniper positions, demolitions, hacking, grenadier, hold ground, go offensive, follow your position, focus a single taget. And that makes this FPS a more strategy and shoot type of FPS instead of run and gun.
    The rest of the squad is SENSATIONAL!!! Their AI is masterfull, they are there to help and indeed they do. They have different personalities, different tastes and listening to the squad talk feels real!
    Unfornately, even though they have different specialties, every squad member can do everything with the same effectiveness, but that is a very little crack in a almost perfect game.    … Expand

    This is definitely the best Star Wars FPS game there is. I can't imagine any game doing any better as Republic Commando invented the self-cleaning visors for helmets. How can you do better than that?

    You get to experience the clone war as a clone but your not a normal clone, no, you're a leader. You can't go around shooting everybody, you need a team, now thats kind off annoying that Im weak, but its a great teamwork game. It also offers alot of replayability. Graphics are great, even greater considering the fact that this game if rom 2005, and it still has great graphics!     I remember playing this game a long time ago, I noticed that it was on steam for 10 bucks. Welp, I made a impulse buy. It's a pretty solid Star Wars game that focuses more on the military side rather than the Jedi. I like that its a tactical squad based FPS. The game has very enjoyable characters and the voice acting is pretty good. It runs on Epic Game's Unreal engine 2.     Republic Commando's sustained by its sense of coordination and teamwork. You grow to rely on your team, and genuinely feel exposed and weakened when not backed by your AI partners. Voice work is great    Some excellent atmosphere, attention-to-detail and voice acting ties this game together.     That said, there are some weaknesses. Shooting's not dreadful, but does lack punch. AI can interact with targets and the environment, but there's no way to arrange door breaches or tactical movement outside of the (thankfully common) interaction points. Last but not least, I encountered a handful of bugs that forced me to reload to earlier checkpoints more than once.

    Still a great game, still definitely worth your time.    … Expand

    As a Star Wars fan, you'll find the settings and levels incredibly immersing this game takes probably the darkest turn to the franchise of any game I've played. The characters and writing is slightly cliche but still grows on you by the end of the game. The only problems with the game is that it is fairly limited in terms of weapon variety and it is also very linear.     Awesome game, first time a squad based game that your squad is better than you. Guns, strategy, commands, music, graphics, all perfectly done. Too bad no sequel is coming.

    I owned and played this years ago. I can't remember the story, or much of anything about Republic Commando. What I do remember is liking it a lot. It's a little short, so if you buy it cheaply you have no complaint. I just added it to my Steam wishlist and will buy it for replay again, next time it's on sale.

It is FAR TOO SHORT in terms of what I want to see from a game. There are three main levels which wouldn't be terrible if the first one didn't feel like an extra long tutorial. I was disappointed that it ended with one character "left out in the cold" and no resolution of the story. Was there a sequel planned and unfinished? Was this resolved in a book that I haven't read?     Huge fan of Star Wars. Too bad the Clone Wars has been winded down. I cannot say anything bad of this game. Even is in the 2000' era of gaming, this FPS is much better than FPS from actual year. I'm still playing it. Too bad the sequel has been cancelled.

    This game was awesome on all levels, graphics were cool looking, the gameplay was solid, voice acting was great, and the music was absolutely fantastic. This game so much fun mostly because of it's engaging atmosphere and fun story line. The missions were fun and simple and the game really made you fell like you were in charge of a squad.     Star Wars Republic Commando was one of the first games I got on pc when I was younger introducing me to FPS games, 7 years later I haven't lost a single portion of love for this game.
    There are many factors that make this game so fantastic from creative environmental, weapon and character designs to the innovative gameplay mechanics that this game introduces.

    I love the protagonist and his three squad mates each one adding more flavour to the overall gameplay experience, each of the squad mates usually had an opinion on how to attack an area strategically in a certain fashion, they also had skills unique to each soldier, for instance one was a demolitions expert another an expert with a sniper rifle and the last a master with hacking computer consoles, these three factors are always useful in combat situations.

    I am disappointed that they did not end up marketing a sequel, I hope that a republic commando sequel may show up in the not so distant future.    … Expand

    A fantastic story driven FPS, my only gripe with RC is it's length. With a mere 8.4 hours for me to complete the campaign, I feel that if really needs either some DLC or a full blown sequel. The difficulty felt just right; Hard enough for me to die a fair amount and feel challenged, but easy enough for me to complete it without a major ragequit. Star Wars Republic Commando: ShortA fantastic story driven FPS, my only gripe with RC is it's length.     Presentation is really what carries Republic Commando farther than it could have gone on its own. It comes with a grand score, good voice work, lovely animation, and great artistic style and polish.

    The game’s artificial intelligence is impressive, and utilising the commands and setting team command points through the levels really makes it feel like you’re working through the game with real people who actually know what they are doing.
