It's a good graphic, but graphic impact is only in the beginning. Exploring maps and finding path are too boring. I gave up this game.

This game has great voice acting, good visuals, and a pretty good story. Unfortunately, several design decisions really drag it down.

The first of these is really the biggest shame frankly. A dark side path wouldn't just give you this second gameplay option. It also forces your companions to have to address how you are changing as a character. So it's an opportunity to explore the personality of these companions more. By stripping this out of a game like this they completely missed a huge opportunity as far as I'm concerned.

Plus it just removes so much replayability.

Also the force powers are underwhelming as well.

Gameplay: The Game is Easy, for someone like me that have completed easily Sekiro, and has a similar gameplay with some differences in power ups, and parry windows, but overall i found the gameplay funny and good for my standards.

Graphic & Performance: Nothing fantastic here, it is quite standard for 2019, problem is the really bad performance drops due to maps loading and physics which is, well, funny, it remembered me of Skyrim, anyway in all the story i found myself trapped inside of textures two times, and was able to excape without exiting fro the game.

Story: It's an original one, with some characters taken from the film's Trilogy, and it's "good", it's enjoyable but nothing special, that', together with performance and graphic led me to the "7" i gave.

To sum up: Easy and funny game, with an enjoyable story, nothing special but surely better than the last SW films. Hope for a sequel, 7/10.

PS: completed game and don't like to visit same places again and again. Also don't like harder difficulty - it's not challenging, mostly annoyng. BTW i can recommend it to complete story on medium difficult, for me it was optimal and good.

Very entertaining, good level of difficulty, beautiful scenarios and a pleasure to explore - even if it gets just a tiny bit repetitive.

Jedi: Fallen Order is a mess. But, at the same time, it surprised me with tons of fun like few other titles in the recent years did.

I wasn't convinced at first. The combat system is messy, not all of the gameplay concepts fit well together (the jumping between Soulstroidvania and narrative driven action-adventure can be jarring at times), and the scenario is a fascinating study of how to write some scenes well, some cringe-worthy, and weave an overarching story in such a way that it's hard to say wether it makes any sense or not due to tons of inconsistencies and an unsteady flow.

And yet, at the same time, when the story beats hit, they hit hard. Especially the finale, which made me squeak like a kid watching "Star Wars" in the cinema for the first time. The atmosphere of the movies is captured really well here, and coupled with excellent level design, made me want to return to the game day after day.

Even the combat itself, once you level up your character (which makes the flaws less noticeable), is pure bliss. I give the game a golden medal for some of the best lightsaber duels ever put in games, Souls-like combat fits here perfectly, and creates a wonderful sense of progression from a weak, pushover padawan into a full-blown Jedi knight who is a force to be reckoned with. It's a shame those beautiful, meandering levels don't hide bonus Inquisitor duels. It's also a shame virtually all of the loot is visual only and the character progression is strictly linear, but hey, let's leave something for the sequels to improve upon, eh? Even without those things I 100% cleared some locations, which is a rarity.

Overall, let's say the game's a 7,5 but I'll gladly add half a point just for introducing Mongolian metal into Star Wars canon alone. Yes, that really happened and it is badass. Also, the story is surprisingly ambitious, even if flawed a lot of the time. Fallen Order is in the category of titles that have serious issues, but the amount of heart, passion and ambition poured into them makes a lasting impression, one much bigger than many better but less distinct games out there. It is also one sequel away from greatness, and I can't wait for it. Especially considering that I really did grow to like the game's cast. Yes, even Ms. Wolfenjedistein with a gaze such terrifying she can disintegrate you with it alone and who totally feels like a character from a different franchise.

By the way, it doesn't stop to amuse me how awkward Respawn can be at handling inter-human relationships, but how well do they tackle human-robot ones. BD-1 easily steals the spotlight and deserves a top 3 droids spot in Star Wars canon, right next to R2D2 and C-3PO. And I won't let anyone convince me otherwise!

    +-Rather linear
+-Perhaps too little story overall, and too much of it towards the last third of the game (although it's really a matter of taste).

    -Relies on backtracking
    -Lackluster collectibles
-Combat can have a very frustrating moments due to camera angles and cornering, not an actual challenge
-Using the map can be a serious headache

    Longer review:
Although not without faults, this is a great game. I'd note that I'm a complete newcomer to Star Wars - I have played no other video game, and watched none of the films (I did get interested and watched New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, so far, thanks to this game :) ).
So, does one need background in SW to enjoy this game? Not really, I'm sure old fans would enjoy more context - but this game still stands quite alright on its own.

So, from gameplay aspect - what we get here is relatively classic 3rd person action-adventure, with some Uncharted vibes. You progress through the world with the story pretty much moving you forward. You may hunt for collectibles, if you wish. The game presents some rather vast maps (for a LINEAR game that it is). You'll also fight enemies on the way, of course. I would start with the few complaints I have:
Story - as a person who likes story-driven, I felt there was not enough of it here for the most part. The game turns very cinematic towards the last third, but before it's mostly very thin. As many others indicate, the main character is not as interesting as the supporting cast, which is slightly disappointing.
Collectibles - exploring for them is much more satisfying than the content itself. What you may collect is mostly "notes" which I didn't feel gave much, and cosmetic changes to your character and starship. It's alright, but rather shallow, and I felt I've collected everything mostly for the satisfaction of 100% it and not for the content.
Backtracking - the game relies on it heavily, and while I think it's not as bad as other reviews suggest, this is still a little lackluster. When it's enforced on you because of the story, it is still kept somewhat interesting as the same way will be experienced differently, with some more paths accessible, etc, but backtracking for the sake of completing all collectibles is painful in a non-fun way.
Combat - is actually very fun, but can be very punishing in a very unfair way, on certain situations where the space is just too tight and you'll find yourself cornered with no ability to see anything again and again.

Putting those aside, this is still a very worthwhile experience. Traversing the wonderfully created worlds of Fallen Order is a real pleasure to the eye. The maps are very versatile and interesting and the cinematic phases are absolutely gorgeous.
The combat, besides the faults I've raised above, is very fun and fluid, and while at first it feels a bit limited it gets increasingly more satisfying as you improve your skills and gain new attacks. For a souls-like game, this game is rather accessible for newcomers new to the genre. It's fairly tough but also has an easier difficulty you can switch to whenever you wish, and is mostly very forgiving in the sense of checkpoints locations and getting back your progress once you die. It does take a bit getting used to, mind you, but after a couple of hours I felt the difficulty was quite alright - with just enough challenge. It's also worth mentioning there's a respectable amount of enemy types, so it surely doesn't get boring.

The story (once you get to it) is nothing revolutionary but is good and relatable. Thinking Star-Wars-wise, after watching two of the original trilogy movies I have also got the impression that the game is very loyal to the general lore and vibe of the franchise, including the enemies design and the wonderful soundtrack which wonderfully taps the cues from the films' soundtracks.

The shoved the clunkyness of Gears of War into Bloodborne, and the result is frustrating. It seems impossible to find any rhythm in combat, you'll hear that alot. Bloodborne is my 2nd best game of all time, behind only The Ocarina of Time. There is some fantastic presentation here and some fun exploring, but even turning down the difficulty to story mode, it felt like a chore.

    * - there's a point in the game where you have to climb an AT-AT Imperial Walker and that is a pretty neat mission. They did a really nice job rendering the Walker itself as well as just the whole scene. It was a neat way to change up the pace of the game while capturing the accuracy of the Star Wars assets like the AT-AT Walker.
    * Can upgrade to a dual bladed light saber like Darth Maul uses in Episode 1. Very cool combat animations with it.
    * The final boss fight is very well done. I won't spoil any of it with details, just will say it's very well done and true to the lore, the devs did a nice job with it.

    Cons:

    * Combat is very difficult and unforgiving. I had to play most boss fights on easy, and I'm generally pretty good at combat in these types of games.
    * Further building on the combat - I've seen some references on the Steam store page compare some of the combat to "Dark Souls" which IMO is not a favorable comparison - games where you have to die a bunch of times to figure out what you're supposed to do is not something I'd ever enjoy or recommend as it kills immersion. Teach me how to use the combat system and then let me become a master at it - this game does go over-the-top in some areas where you will face an opponent who you have to die a time or two to learn their moves which is an absolute immersion killer.
    * Seems to be no way to really descend if you want to climb down somewhere - just have to jump and pray you don't die.
    * A lot of instances during the story flow where Cal will just fall to his death - many of these instances are sort of like QTEs where you have to jump in or at a specific spot with exact precision while moving at high speed in order to not die which is a bit of an immersion killer as you cannot always see where you're going and it's a lot of guesswork. This is another situation that I'd say crushes immersion because you have to constantly die and try again in order to know where to go.
    * Like other similar games with similar mechanics, a lot of collectibles will be located in locations early in the game where you can't get to them, forcing you to have to backtrack - I always find this mechanic to be a bit tedious.
    * EA's Origin Client as a requirement even on Steam - this is the key reason I won't buy a personal copy of this game yet. If they remove the Origin Client requirement I'll buy it immediately on Steam.
    * Character development is kinda "meh". Cal is an ok character, but a lot of the people he meets along the way aren't really developed all that well individually or in regard to their relationships with Cal - not saying it's awful, but it could have been done a LOT better as a lot is left up to assumption - for example he'll have only a handful of actual conversations with certain people, if that, but later in the game certain conversations will imply he's really close buddies with those people - overall in this regard it just makes the game's relationships with each other and the protagonist not feel all that thoroughly developed when compared with a game like say The Witcher.
    * Jumping system as far as navigation is pretty bad. Lots of deaths from simply my character not jumping very far on the first try, etc. in areas where you're having to jump through the trees and land exactly right when it's tough to land at all if your character doesn't jump far enough - it's just like an aforementioned bullet point where the movement system is just too unforgiving.
    * Too much "exploring" and just navigating the maps like Tomb Raider...I didn't mind that in Tomb Raider because that's the point, but this game needs a LOT more combat and less just wandering around - because of these types of mechanics, stretches of the game can be very boring.

Other Commentary: I'd like to get another one of these games, and hopefully some of the cons will be addressed. Would love a smoother combat system with bette responses and parrying precision while not making it so difficult that you have to die at least once every boss fight in order to learn the enemy's moves. I'd also like to see, if they do a future game with Cal Kestis, him doing his thing in full Jedi robes as he never gets them in this game as they are on the run for most of the game to deal with their mission and the Jedi are on the run anyway. It would just be cool to be wearing a Jedi robe like Obi Wan & Anakin while fighting with a light saber.

    Overall Rating: 5/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is... okay. A really high quality game with immediately forgettable characters you can’t sympathize and a mundane story. I enjoyed some of the mechanics and certain planets/levels, but overall this was quite a disappointment considering the initial hype. Many say that you need to love the Star Wars universe in order to fully enjoy the game, but I believe that a good story is a good story regardless of how familiar you are with the franchise. Fallen Order just doesn’t have it.

    - Level design is great up until you get to the monkey planet the second time, where it becomes slightly ridiculous.
    - You can’t upgrade your sword, and there are no ranged weapons (you can throw a sword late in the game, but it’s quite useless), meaning that you have only one way to play. There are only a few useful skills since at the end of the day it’s about parrying and dodging.
    - You would expect a jedi to be a little bit more powerful - basically, you can only perform a few special attacks at the beginning of the game. - All enemies are pretty much the same, and, as you probably know, you can’t slide’n’dice human enemies. Seriously?!
    - The lore... Well, it’s really shallow. You find some short notes and clues, but they all feel AI-generated, something along the lines of “there was a lot of suffering here”. It doesn’t enrich the story or provide any further explanation to your pointless quest.
    - Bosses are neither interesting or hard. That guy on the red planet? He doesn’t even play any significant part in the story, they could easily replace him with a giant spider (for example).
    - Finally, the ending... Seriously?!

Good history, great landscape, satisfying combat, epic moments specially in the last two chapters of the game. I played it on the hard difficulty - Master Jedi, and it took me around 15 hours to finish the game. It has inspirations from multiple games, I'd rank the inspirations as following: 1. God of War - the sound, tombs, puzzles, remembers this game a lot. I give a game 8.5 out of 10 because it has too many inspirations, similarities, but not so many characteristics that makes this game unique or original. Its a great game to explore the SW world, have a good exploration and combat, but only three bosses fight were memorable so was the landscape - only two planets I visited were very memorable. I still think that this franchise in Respawn's hands will have multiple games and I believe they'll be even better, since the game invested too many chapters will simple combat, and in the end when you really feel like a Jedi the game is about to end. I want a second game where we begin with a more intense history and combat such as the end of this game. Expand

This game is underrated. Probably the best star wars game to date. It does a great job in making you feel like a jedi. Story is good. Gameplay is great. The only problem is a bit of performance issues, it commonly freezes to load new zones of the map. Not game breaking, it can be easily overlooked, but still shouldn't have this kind of issues.

    - some of the combat controls were a little clunky at times. Making my first point even more frustrating when Cal doesn't do the thing you tell him to do.
    - the jumping and sliding mechanics were a total pain. I lost count the amount of times I jumped to grab something and he wouldn't grab onto it, or when I was sliding down a hill and he starts sliding in a direction that's completely unpredictable
    - it's not very well optimised visually. Running on a 2070S and a 9700k, I saw frame drops as low as 25fps in some areas with not much graphical options to tweak.

    I loved:

+ the level design was incredible. The level of detail is simply stunning.
+ the voice acting was top notch! Not sure how they did it so well, but the facial expressions and the way they convey what they're saying is very believable, and you can't help but get sucked into the conversations during cut scenes.
+ the graphics are really nice.
+ I liked to combat and I liked learning the bosses. They were a little tough, but manageable. I just didn't like how the game punished you if you died. The re-spawn points were a bit of a let-down

Fun game. Great location and level design (except getting back to your ship on Zeffo.) but mediocre characters and story plus being so railroaded made for a decent, but but not great game. Better than most Star Wars games though, which is a plus. Made me miss Force Unleashed.

A very fun experience even if it is a little too familiar. Respawn copies a lot of great games and makes all the different elements fit together well even if they didn't expand on any of the mechanics that they copied. Still this game gets points just for being very fun and not having any annoying things in it.

On easy it's not a problem but on other levels it's too punishing. Some of the platforming elements are a mix bag of good and bad, but at least you aren't penalized for cheap deaths. Performance wise, I have a mid system, and I had to tweak a lot of the Nvidia panel settings. Sadly the game lack many options in the graphic area. The music is fun and sound are superb. The levels are pretty intricate, maybe too much at times, but they are beautifully designed. I think the map is maybe more confusing then helping at times. I give it 85%. I really like that game. it's polished and with a good degree of quality. Not perfect, but a nice startup point. Hopefully they can build on it. Expand

Respawn developed Fallen Order to be an interactive Star Wars movie. The story is top-notch and you really feel the heart and soul that was put into providing a cinematic experience. The environments are visually stunning and constantly tempt you into taking in the sights. Taking inspiration from Metroid Prime, the map was built to promote exploration with strategically placed secrets. Every little bit of the world was custom-made to offer a unique experience, so you get rewarded for venturing off the beaten path. The combat is also Souls-like and balanced just right to offer a familiarly satisfying challenge while not being too punishing.

Aside from the occasionally poor load times, strange AI quirks, and chests not being particularly meaningful, there aren't many major complaints to make about the game. The immersive atmosphere easily makes you forgive any shortfalls it has. Play and experience it for yourself. Considering how most video games these days are mediocre cash grabs, Fallen Order has truly been a breath of fresh air. Score-wise, I knocked one point off for the game's imperfections and slightly lacking late-game, but that is me strictly nitpicking. I imagine many wouldn't hesitate to give it a 10/10.

I couldn't give the game a 10/10 because there are some puzzles where it is completely impossible to figure out if you're on the right track and often it becomes a matter of luck and not logic that the puzzle is solved.

The controls are fairly comprehensive, but the parrying system is weak and lackluster. There is no sense of weight to the attacks. The best game in recent memory that has a sense of weight and satisfaction to an attack is Batman: Arkham Asylum. For those who've played B:AA, you know exactly what I'm talking about. The attacks in SW:JFO are just too light and feathery and do not match the excellent animation.

Fallen Order is all about the narrative. Discovery and character interaction is king in this game. So if you're looking for non-stop, breakneck action at every turn, this is not the game for you. But if you're looking for a standalone story in the Star Wars universe that tells a tale of a lone Jedi trying to keep the faith, this game and story is for you.

The developer of this game, Respawn, has officially put to rest any doubt from the likes of EA that single player games are dead. Respawn has loudly and proudly affirmed that single player is alive and well by thumping their chests and saying 'Let us show you how it's done!'

Star Wars is back on the menu, boys!

The puzzles were mostly decent and sometimes annoying, the meat of the game for me personally is the fights, they offer a decent amount and a pretty large variety of enemies and the game play itself is pretty challenging (even on normal mode) which makes the boss battles hard as heck. The story is alright , the characters were fine for the most part and the voice acting was great. One of the best things about this game is the beautiful environments and animations that they show. Here you can meet some primitive clichés, such as not finishing off the enemy, but all this does not stick out in corners as in many other stories. So overall I really liked the story.
The graphics, even at almost the maximum level, often look crooked, the landscapes are soapy, especially for the year of release, and for the company that made the game ... but I won’t call it frankly bad either. Landscapes are often were very pleasing.
    ...
    1) 95% of boxes are wild cosmetic junk. 5% - improvement of healing. Almost all hidden places are not worth the effort, except for those that increase health or strength. As a result, looting - failed.
    2) I almost immediately understood why platforming in this game caused anger in so many people.
    3) The combat system seems to be good, but... there have often been situations where you either get hit in the face from the void (the enemy ignores the dodge)... or the enemy performs unblockable hits 100500 times, especially great when there is someone else nearby... or the animals behaved as if they got drunk barrel of energy drinks with a ton of adrenaline pills (including bugs with getting stuck in wall, or flying into the air). Until the very end, the combat system kept me in an unpleasant feeling that something was going to go wrong ... this was not even in Sekiro and Nioh, so it's not the difficulty of the battle, but the flaw in the system itself.
    4) As a separate point, I want to express my anger to those who did not work out the bugs due to which I went through all the enemies in the arena, and on the last one I won’t be able to apply the “scripted finishing move”, because the monster’s body has disappeared! and I had to reboot the whole arena again!

Best Star Wars campaign in a while!! The souls-like elements are really cool and they are toned down, in comparison to dark souls, which is good. It brings more casual players into the fold. The story is excellent and I loved all the new characters. I can't wait for a follow up or more singleplayer Star Wars games.

    - often times you have no idea where to go. the map is just a **** like a 3d scan of an ant hill. You will get lost a lot !

    - too much idiotic puzzles relying on trial & error with absolutely 0 hints what to do. Its like a puzzle & maze game.

    - Theres a path where you can get stuck easily. You have to slide the ice down then jump and walk on the 2 walls and catch the rope that is so far away that I managed only to do it a single time after maybe 30 attempts to catch that stupid rope.

    - level design is subpar as often time you would think that some places & paths are reachable or accessible only for you to fall into the abyss.

    - You'll be spending most of your time just trying to figure out where to go, and what are you supposed to be doing.

    - whats the point of lightsaber customization apart from color if you can't even see it while playing.

    - You will die a lot especially in boss battles and those most deaths feel cheap unlike in Dark Souls

    - No beheading or dismemberment of stormtroopers.

    - Jedi abilities feel limited. Theres only so much times you will use until you get tired of it.

    - artificial blockers you can't get past until later in the game because you don't have double jump or whatever the ****

The difficulty curve (if you can call it that way) is good, and progressing while discovering your ancient powers is definitely rewarding. Opponents benefits from many detailed patterns and skins as the characters design appear to be one of the most gorgeous point about this game (not especially for Cere though). Special thanks for the Bounty Hunters here and there! 'Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order' is beautiful and you will never realize, except for this game, that five planets are too few to explore. The lore and the universe are fully respected. It is a pleasure to evolve in such a colourful, complex and varied worlds. The main opponents (the Empire) are amazingly represented and evoke huge powers. The music and soundesign are gorgeous. The game offers diverse difficulty levels. It feels like being a game held by strong ambitions and all things considered, well executed.

On the other hand, there are many buggy incomprehensions as when Cal's lightsaber goes through the environment without any damage (referring to the workbench as well as other structures or objects). This goes with many collision and texture bugs and walls you can go through as you get closer to the borders of the maps. Things are made to look good when they are far away, don't try to interact with what you see in the distance. There are way too many collectibles for such a short game (the main story lasts for something like 15 hours) and you are not even rewarded for gathering all the useless objects around the whole galaxy (these are just skins and dreadful paintings). Don't fall into the trap of the deuxe version as I did because wow, this is a void of content. The cutscenes are numerous and sadly unskippable. If they do bring some depth to the story they also are full of conveniences and pathetic dialogues. If, as I've said, planets are fun to explore, they're much less fun to navigate using the mini-map, which is a real nightmare. I can't see how they could have done it better though but it still remains very hard to use properly. And why not using fast travels? Aren't the camps made to do that? The game takes years to launch, as well as going from a planet to another: don't expect to play for less than 20 minutes on this one. But in the end it is not worse than this last inconvenient: you have to use the EA launcher AND be connected to the internet in order to play, even if you have the game (as me) only on Steam! I didn't count the number of times I had to restart my PC just because the EA launcher didn't let me play... Such a mess.

Pain in the ass startup time. Even on an SSD the startup times and checkpoint loading times are frustratingly long. There are also long elevator rides where you're just standing there for 30 seconds...

Do not like the checkpoint/save method. It's tedious. The boxes take annoying long to open. His repetitive speech to his robot companion is annoying.

In most fights you can't attack, block, and dodge quick enough. Your character is extremely slow to respond. Trying to make up for those deficits by using the force isn't viable or enjoyable. You're supposed to be a Jedi, yet your character is slower than a normal person. You can hit all the right buttons but it seems like a majority of the time they don't result in your character taking the corresponding action, and you just have to sit there and roll your eyes while he dies and you have to do it all over again. Because of this, I highly recommend using a trainer with this game - even just for unlimited force.

Even then I came across an enemy that is designed to be defeated by the force, and which I previously defeated many times, yet this time for some reason is totally immune.

Also, you can't interrupt most enemy attacks by hitting them, but they can interrupt yours by hitting you.

Very glad they have a variety of difficulty levels to choose from, which includes making blocking timings less important. But even on the lower difficulties they still have annoying bosses that take forever to kill, where you pretty much get one attack and then have to dodge 3-4 attacks/times, attack once, dodge 3-4 times, repeat 10+ times till the boss is dead. That's so annoying.

There are some areas where only a really specific and precise movement combination will get you past the point. But it can be so ambiguous and exact that it can leave you confused about what you're even supposed to do, and thus have to look up a playthrough to watch what you're supposed to do.

I like the general movement idea. It's similar to Titanfall 2, and some other games. Just worse implementation.

They did a pretty good job with the map. Though it can get overwhelming once you explore enough of it. Also, it's the type of game where there are places and things you can't access till later on, and you have to remember where they are because they're not marked on your map. That's terrible IMO. You also can't open your map when underwater, so you have to constantly get to the surface/land then back down again. Or just not explore underwater.

You have to run back through the same areas multiple times, and even though some shortcuts are opened afterwards they're not short enough. Also, there are nonobvious triggers, such as stepping onto an elevator, that unlock shortcuts. And if you don't know about that particular unlock then you have to travel back a super long way when you revisit the area. Due to this issue, and others that I've listed, I find it necessary to use a video walkthrough for this game, which I really don't like, since it breaks immersion.

There are many times where something seems like it's not doable or not meant to be done yet, but there actually is a very esoteric method of doing it that you would have to watch a playthrough to learn how.

It seems to be designed around console/controller use. Even though it's playable with KB&M there are still a few annoying and unpolished things, including the mouse movement and menu.

There are times where you have to grab things and accurately throw them long distances, yet it give you no way to aim them. So you have to do it over and over every time. Sometimes it's part of a puzzle, which makes it even worse, since you have to try something a dozen times just to see if it's what you're supposed to do or not. Then it might turn out in the end that it was only to unlock some useless skin.

There are so many instances where the mechanics of the game simply don't work. IE: you're supposed to pull a rope toward you to swing on, but it just doesn't work, and you fall to your death. Your character is supposed to grab onto a ledge, but doesn't, and you fall down a level and have to run all the way back. You press a "use the force" button and it does nothing. You slow an enemy, get behind them, then attack them and they still hit you. You're pressing a key to do whatever, but it doesn't register.

Graphics to FPS cost ratio isn't great. There's something similar to a fog that degrades the visuals.

Bizarrely, and seemingly incredibly lazily, they only have people voice the first few sentences of things, and then make you read the rest. And even then, you can't simply listen to the first part and read the 2nd part because the option to open the text is timed, so by the time the voice is done the option will be gone.

    - the saving system is sh!t - you spend half the time tracking back because you forgot to meditate at the 4000th save portal. like why are there so many save portals everywhere :S meditating anywhere (hello witcher 3) would've been more realistic and more game-friendly.
    - like WHY ON EARTH do enemies have to miraculously respawn and most of the time right behind you :S - what a lazy, pathetic, immersion breaking feature.

While it is understandable that a single player game without microtransactions is an achievment in itself for EA Games, overall the game is terribly overrated. It is obvious that EA doesn't understand that graphics and motion capture with actors don't make a good game.
Graphics: While as i said, the game has some beautiful graphics, the world feels empty and boring. The impression i got while exploring the world was very similar to that from ME: Andromeda and DA: Inquisition. Not to mention, the game has some terrible optimization, which makes it run terribly on pc (admittedly, mine is not a high end one anymore, but has no problems running games like Witcher 3 or Sekiro on max), and that leads to my next point:
Gameplay: As it has been pointed out seemingly everywhere, the game borrows heavily from Sekiro in terms of combat mechanics. However it is obvious, that either devs don't understand what makes it great, or don't care. Where Sekiro combat is fast-paced, aggresive and always highly entertaining experience, with longer battles turning into a breathtaking dance of deflects, dodges, jumps and cinematic deathblows, Fallen Order is slow and clunky mess. Enemies are mostly passive, all of them having a couple of simplistic moves. On harder difficulties they tried to counter it with **** parry timings and the classic "more damage = difficulty", with enemies dealing some ridiculous damage. "But wait", you say, "Dark Souls series and Sekiro also had enemies with lots of damage, who are hard to parry." True, but they slso had dharp and responsive controls allowing you, no matter the situation, to feel in control over your character. In Fallen Order, I feel like i am driving on ice with bald tires. Dodge has a very short distance, and all action besides classic R1 spam seem to have a cooldown after that. You just did a double-tap dodge roll to avoid a big attack? Now you have to wait, can't do the same for a second attack in a row. You just parried a first strike in combo? Sorry, can't parry the others like in Sekiro, you have to keep holding block for all the combo, allowing enemy to regain their posture and almost nullify the effect of parry. Sometimes, if you stagger the enemy, they will hit you right after stagger timer, skipping animation. If you die to an enemy, he will star glowing yellow showing he got your xp, kinda like Bloodborne did with eyes. The problem? Unblockable attacks are shown by enemy glowing red. Does red glow show over yellow? Nope. Get screwed if you try to block/parry that. If you managed to hit your enemy and get your xp back, game enters slow-mo for a few secs, disrupting flow of combat and often costing you a successful dodge/parry. Platforming parts often become annoying aswell, with controls often making it hard to hit that rope/hole you are jumping at and making you start the section over. Oh, and why did I say optimization leads to all these? It makes the already bad even worse.
Story: So far, I haven't yet completed the game, as I am struggling to find desire to do so somewhere in the middle of a story. What I did see thus far seems to be a regular basic hero story. Characters are boring cliche with no attempt to bring them to life whatsoever. Same with dialogues, which appear to have been written by AI copying some of the most basic lines ever. Some story parts make no sense at all (small spoiler here: you get a second blade for your lightsaber by finding a randon table in a cave, pulling a welder from your pocket and just fixing it. No story behind it whatsoever). Lazy and unimaginative writing. A special place in my heart is reserved for regular enemies' lines which are downright cringy at times.
Final thoughts: After playing this game seeing so much praise for it is surprising as nd revolting to me. While its true that its a singleplayer story star wars game finally, the words I find for it are: boring, messy, unfinished. I find it quite likely that publishers choice of engine, graphics focus and development time are what stopped it from being a good game, but as it stands, thats how it is. Is it a good game? No. Is it a bad game? Somewhat. Is it worth its price? HELL NO. Should I try it out? Sure. But make sure that you can refund it, or play at friend's copy. This game could be good, great even, but it is not. Slapping Star Wars textures over Sekiro would yield better results. EA doesn't understand that videogame should first of all be fun and enjoyable to play. My recommendation? Go play a better game, KOTOR for Star Wars, Sekiro for combat. Don't waste money on Fallen Order, and don't believe all the praise it gets.
P.S. Almost forgot: there is no way to instantly travel between safe points or to your ship. Have fun backtracking half the game and remembering which path leads to this door you can now open.

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order is about a 20-25 hour long game and the only real way to play it is on Grandmaster difficulty for a real Jedi experience. It is a good game that had great game potential. A lot of bugs and glitches and other minor things that kept it from being a great game you can tell it needed to be in the oven for a little longer before release. Pros are level design, gameplay and graphics. On PC with ultra settings some scenes look pretty amazing and showcases how far games have come. Cons are weak writing and bugs. It is a very generic Star Wars plot and you can tell exactly what the story is and whats going to happen within minutes of the opening scenes. The bugs were pretty apparent I bugged out in and out of battles and my game crashed almost every time I booted the game up and played it. In conclusion the game is a solid 7/10 and had potential to be higher if it had been a little more polished. If you are a big Star Wars fan and the thought of a hybrid between Uncharted and Sekiro gameplay sounds interesting to you then this game is a must play. Expand

Published By Electronic Arts I was more than skeptical but I am glad I put faith into Respawn who managed to make an amazing game and along with a few other I have to put this into my top 3 games I played in 2019.

I re-watched Revenge of the Sith again just before starting this game and I just loved how the game continues on a few years after the movie and even connecting with the events of Order 66 and the fall of the Jedi Order.

The story was amazing and continuously had me interested and wanting to see more. The choice of borrowing elements from many games but not simply implementing them but changing them enough to make them their own was a good choice and it worked really well for the game. The environments were so beautiful it was fun to sometimes just look around and explore for no reason other than the view.

I really enjoyed the fact that all of the cosmetics in the game were simply part of it and you very frequently came across boxes for your little friend to check out and give you another cosmetic item for either your ship, lightsaber component, Pancho or skins for your little friend.

The game does have its glitches and loading lag in some areas was very visible. The choice not to have fast travel was nice but on some planets it was just making it very tedious to get back to the ship and I wish more of the discoverable shortcuts will be added in the future to solve that problem.

The choice of borrowing from the dark souls combat style and implementing their own version using the force was brilliant and worked really well. The NPCs were funny, likable and I did end up caring a lot about them.

I hope we will see more of this type of game from Respawn.

This game is what starwars fans where craving for decades, with a immersive story and a balanced cast you’ll be playing for hours and you won’t even notice, if you are a starwars fan I recommend it 10/10 how ever if you are not it doesn’t really matter because I assure you that after playing this game you will become one.

The game is passable at best, I really don't understand why people give this game a 10/10 ... unless they are being paid to "review", then I do understand ...everyone has to make a living after all.

The game is passable at best, I really don't understand why people give this game a 10/10 ... unless they are being paid to "review", then I do understand ...everyone has to make a living after all.

Or perhaps it is because it has been so long ago that EA/Lucasarts has released anything remotely enjoyable that we just are all over the moon when something gets released that has a character swinging a lightsaber in it.... who knows?

All I can say is that to me this was not a starwars game... more like Frankenstein monster of a game which stole certain things from other games, but never merged into a whole, making everything feel a bit off.

But let me start with some of the good things, before I rip into it.
I enjoyed some of the platforming, I liked the puzzles, I liked the little droid companion and I liked the alien co-working character and as a matter of fact the entire opening act made me hopeful.
And the first time you deflect a blasterbolt, forcepushed someone of a cliff , or pulled them in to do a single hit kill stab, or stopped time and pushed a rocket back was fun ...

Unfortunately this is where the positivism ends.
After the opening act you get picked up by two NPC's who never at any point resonated with me, the story was uninspiring and we all know the Jedi Order would not be restored, considering the time period this all plays out.

And as you can't skip those cutscenes, you basically have to listen to all the **** all these non-entities spout ... and every time the main character opened his mouth I disliked him just a bit more.

The combat in the beginning is a bit of fun, but as soon as you progress and got more (surprise) enemies to contend with, it becomes a die and repeat grindfest.
Now I gather that this is a mechanic "borrowed" from dark souls or sekura ... thing is if I liked those type of games I would've played those instead of this one.

As for the dying part, I found that I died more often due to clunky controls, camera glitches and those (bliep)-ing slides more than from failing parries or enemy attacks... oh and the fact that it takes too long for you to heal up when you give the command has been a slight annoyance as well.... I mean what is the point of having 6 healing canisters if it takes 2 seconds to heal you up

Gameplay mechanics like upgrades are none existent.
You basically get texture variations, so in the end I didn't bother opening these chests anymore.
Seriously what is the point of offering variations if they don't have any impact on gameplay or stats?
If they cared about cosmetics, why not have a character creation kit in the beginning, so we can play as something different than a poncho wearing whiny red headed millennial.
Maybe different genders or even races with different stats?
At the very least have the main character change his outfit towards the end so he looks like a Jedi knight, to reflect his change of attitude/progression.

I can honestly rip into this game forever, but the real point I am trying to make is that I play games for a story and the choices I make within those stories, however small they may be.
I mean I liked the Witcher 2 because of that and I really was willing to die and did so 50 times by some creature to progress and see how it all played out.

In this game you never become or are a Jedi, you are basically a random schmuck with a glow stick that has to parry attacks from Stormtroopers with surprising good aim... no matter what level you are.
Everything is on rails from story progression, personal development, force powers and skills.

Thing is that due to the fact that this game borrows from other games, it never has an identity of its own and falls short:

If you like die & repeat gameplay , you're better off playing Dark Souls or Sekura
If you like platforming and going to the same place multiple times, you're better of with Metroid Prime.
Want a linear, on the rails great story experience, then play God of War 4, Uncharted or Last of Us.

Because these games are far better on these individual aspects.
Now the fact that you are reading this and browsing other reviews probably means you have already decided to buy this game at some level at least and are just looking for a reason to buy.

And unfortunately I can't stop you ... what I can say to you is that you should wait until you can buy this game for like $20 orso.... again it is not terrible to the point of unplayable, it is just very jarring on multiple fronts , so I would not ever advise anyone to buy this at $60 it is just too mediocre for that.

And I am not saying this with glee, because I really went in hoping to like this game

Ehhh it's a mixed bag of gameplay from other games that do it better. And when there isn't bugs the game looks fine, be be warned I had graphical and gameplay bugs on every world i visited. Plus the story is just kinda a rehashing of what we've seen before for a story set between Ep 3 and 4.

It must be me putting the game on jedi master, but it takes me a couple days to get through a mission if im not on all day, the second sister boss fight on zeffo was so hard i had to turn down the difficulty just to get through it. Theres ALOT of backtracking in this game so if you dont like games like that dont play. Enemies are really annoying especially ones with big health bars and alot of damage. Overall i reccomend it but only to a specific audience. If you like games like dark souls go buy it, if your not good at dark souls dont bother Expand

My immediate impression when starting this game was how similar it was to the new Tomb Raider series. Many of the gameplay mechanics are copied, whether it’s climbing on rocks (it seems like > 10 percent of the game is spent doing this), squeezing through tight gaps, solving puzzles in ancient sites, conveniently sliding down some kind of nature ramp, swinging on ropes, and platforming across the landscape. This kind of gameplay is kind of fun at first, but gets boring quickly and kills the immersion. For example, why the **** do all these planets have nature slides? Oh, here comes another rock-climbing part. Great. **** this! I want to do Jedi stuff.

The lightsaber combat is satisfying and challenging. You get to one-hit generic stormtroopers as well as duel advanced STs who wield a variety of electric batons. Also, slicing through an imperial R2 unit and seeing the still-glowing shear of its dome fall to the ground really hits the spot. The boss fights are OK, but nothing special. However, the final boss fight is one of the greatest parts in the game, so if you’re struggling to finish due to boredom, keep on it.

I have no complaints about the story. It’s not KOTOR quality, but it will satisfy Star Wars fans. The adventures are meaningful and make sense. The voice acting was good, and the actor’s likenesses were used when possible, which was interesting, but also broke the immersion a bit. Overall I give this game a B.

There's only 3 force powers but I enjoyed using using them, I thought the combat was very good and very, very challenging to the point I died many, many times in boss fights and got such a sense of achievement when I finally won the fights. The puzzles were also good and challenging, just an all around great game.
