Look great but the new changes since the beta designed to improve gameplay have left it more unbalanced than ever. The new spawn mechanics just mean instead of dying immediately upon spawn you just get spawn camped since everyone now spawns in the same spot.Look great but the new changes since the beta designed to improve gameplay have left it more unbalanced than ever. Really regretting my purchase. I really enjoyed the beta, but this... this is the last time I will ever pick up a game from EA or DICE.

After reading the reviews, wherein everyone praised the graphics but criticize the overall gameplay and repetitive gameplay with almost no innovation apart from the elements of typical FPS multiplayer like COD or Battlefield; I am glad that i didn't buy it and opted for AC: Syndicate.

Ok.. so before the DLC, I was happy. I would rate it 8/10.. Now, the game becomes a pay to play, pay extra to win, so now it's a firm 1/10.

In the new DLC, they introduce overpowered guns like EE4, cards like Disruption which instantly overheat your gun, and shock grenade that locks you on the ground for some 2 seconds even if you spam R key... And then the game starts to look so ugly.

Since the day before yesterday, ppl start to jump into the enemy, use disruption card, and then rape the fking whole group of ppl up with EE4. It is not unusual for one guy to kill some 10 ppl with these overpowered sh*ts. EE4 alone is so overpowered in close combat already, 5 shoot burst with so much damage, it's two shot kill, instant kill! it rapes EE3 down to the ground, up to the sky, and then back to the ground again. Now everyone who purchased the DLC is switching to EE4, and I only managed to kill those ppl a few times using EE3.

This is so bad. This is pay to play, pay extra to win. Fk off EA, Fk off Dice, Fk off Start War Battlefront. I played Dice games since BC2, and nvr lose my faith even playing that unfinished BF4 ffs. But today, I'm done with this. Go fk yourself with your money grabber EA, karma will fk you back soon enough.

After forcing myself through 17 hours of this sub-par attempt to cash in on a movie trying to find the fun or value in it, are we in a bizarro world where the Star Wars license games are **** I can say that there is some value here as a $25 game. The downright stunning lack of content here is just as breathtaking as the visuals and sounds, well except for the VA which is just awful and is another clear demonstration of cutting costs and time out of the development to get this game out before the upcoming movie. Seriously, this is Star wars and you couldn't even get good impersonators, what the hell is wrong with you? As mentioned the Graphics do look pretty but really that doesn't matter, just like the prequels it doesn't matter how pretty this **** looks if there is no substanance to it, and there is none.

The lack of any sort of customization to your Rebel/Stormtrooper is barely tolerable in this day and age when that kind of control should be left up to the player so you can make your avatar a representation of you the player. Instead we are meagerly gifted some head reskins with different haircuts and at the later stages of the game the rebels can slap on some alien heads and the the empire can recolor their armor black or dress up as a scout trooper. Again, there was room here to let players be creative, to make their character their own and it was just half-assed, and that is being generous. So if you can't customize your characters you can at least customize your weapons right? WRONG. It's like we've gone back in time, your weapons are static and most of them are pointless. The only thing you can really get creative with are the loadouts, or HANDS because CARD GAMES ARE COOL RIGHT? Everything here is straightforward and doesn't really scream out any innovation, it's all stuff you've seen before elsewhere usually done better. In the end you will probably have two set-ups, Killing Players and Killing Vehicles.

Speaking of vehicles let's talk about them and the gamemodes with them, Supremacy and Walker Assault. And the dog fight mode too I guess. These are the Flagship modes, they have the highest player count of 40, again we've seem to stepped back into the old game industry time warp where lower player counts are a good thing because **** you, and all of the goodies of vehicle combat and the tiny bipedal vehicle combat. Being in a ground vehicle means you are playing for the Empire because the Rebels can't afford them, this usually means you can go on quite a killing spree if found at the right time. Oh I forgot to mention the pick up system, because I am trying to erase it from my brain. Okay so vehicles and other power-up are scattered across the maps in little coin like forms, luckily the vehicle ones are correctly labeled the rest are random and may as well have been put into the damn loadout system. Anyway unless focused down AT-STs run wild against most everything and AT-ATs, only available in walker assault as a rail turret section, can't be damaged except at the times designated. But they vary in usefulness as you can easily hope into an AT-At, which lets you hang out in there for about 30 seconds, when it is staring at a snow wall or a hill or a bunch of really tall trees. Air Vehicles are a mess to handle and fighting other fighters in them looks and feels ridiculous. Now on to those bipedal vehicles I was talking about, no it wasn't the AT-ST, I'm talking about the heroes which are basically walking tanks, I won't go into how stupid it was to make them moron proof as they are, let's just say you will rack up a kill count as one because they kill quick and are harder to shoot. So all of that is bundled with these two modes, which might be exciting if they had more than four maps, four maps that THEY SHARE. This is inexcusable, if not downright disgusting. All the stuff left out of this game, all the corners cut and you still couldn't muster up 10 maps for the games popular modes? Are you kidding me? What the hell? That and the $50 dollar DLC pass says it all. It says that this is merely a platform for DLC, that it's so content starved seems intentional to try and make that DLC look all the more necessary for you to justify your purchase. "I can't stop playing, I spent $60 on this game I have to make it worth, better pay some more so I can enjoy it, OH NO I'm further in the hole. Help me more EA pls."

I could go on but I just want to wash my hands of this game, I'd rather not think about it ever again other than the lesson I learned about not buying **** out of boredom. If you need this wait until they bundle all the crap together.

But being a Star Wars fan I could not let this slip away. I had so much expectations for this game that I'm in denial, I play as much as I can so I don't feel like I've thrown away money. I even bought the season pass. So, where to start? Game mechanics are way too dumbed down. Shooting is very simple, weapons and equipment are not well balanced, some are too strong, some completely useless. Controlling the fighters is almos like autopilot, you lock-on, and then you shoot, then you kill, and then you also die, the process repeats. Very dull and boring.

Customization is a joke, helmet-less Stormtroopers? What? A bazillion of heads, that's it.
The starcards equipments, the only one I see people using is homing missile (a anti-person seeking missile) and the barrage (a nade spam launcher) and grenades.

Objectives in the game? Forget it, there is no point taking down the AT-AT, you will die time and time again, trying to enable or disable the uplinks, this game doesn't encourages team-play nor going for objectives. The game doesn't offer Battlefront 2 liberty to go where you want. Forget it, imagine a huge corridor with AT-ATs in it. That's Walker Assault and Supremacy (supremacy doesn't have the AT-AT), all the other modes aren't much more than a simple deathmatch game.

The only actual vehicle you can play with is the AT-ST. The AT-AT is on rails, you can't drive it. Taking down an AT-AT with the Airspeeder is automatic, it spins around the walker automatically and all you have is a dumb mini-game where you try to maintain the dot inside the grey area and that's it. If someone starts shooting you while you are doing it, the tow cable is detached and you crash into the ground.

It doesn't have enough maps, only four for Walker Assault and Supremacy. The maps that are here, do not give you freedom to roam around. Remember the chasing scenes with the speeders in Endor? Forget it, there is not room for playing with the speeders. There are not nearly enough weapons as there could have been. And you know why? Because you will have to buy the rest of the game through DLC.

There are invisible walls in some areas in the rebel base mountain in Hoth that have invisible walls. You can't get to the top of the mountain, even that there is a path to it, there are invisible walls in other areas as well that you could go to with Boba Fett, but you hit your nose on these walls.

So, this game is a complete disappointment, terrible. I'll keep playing, yes, but only because I can't get a refund.

This game will probably be dead in 6 months.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

What???

The only reason I gave this a rating of 4 and not lower is because they nailed the graphics and sound that are spectacular but lets all remember that GAMEPLAY is paramount and Star Wars Battlefront suffers severely in this area.

"Single Player" is practically non existent and have very limited appeal for people other than trophy hunters and shouldn't even really be labelled as single player content, since the previous battlefront games all had emphasis on playing the core maps with AI - a feature that made the series famous and was the heart of game - sadly Dice opted for the forced online method so unless you plan playing on forced EA servers against the worst scum and villainy online.

The 'core' game is based on purely online modes only, with the 9 maps offering somewhat limited replayability and highly frustrating balance issues, even issues that appeared in the beta haven't really been addressed. The biggest and best reason not to buy Battlefront is that just one - repeat ONE single hacker can ruin the entire experience of the game, and hacking is already a major problem and fairfight alone isn't enough to catch all of them, especially the more seasoned and subtle hackers - whilst it'll still ban the more obvious ones it'll still ruin the game experience.

Also, lets not forget the outrageously overpriced season pass at $50 - EA this isn't okay and I hope this backfires.

After originally rating this game 3/10, I decided to get my money's worth and pump in a few more hours. The game rated only slightly higher than my initial impressions, but not for any good reasons.

Star Wars Battlefront (2015) is visually stunning, and feels like a very smooth game. It also has quite a distinct "Star Wars" vibe, which is great for fans of the Star Wars franchise.

Gameplay is seriously lacking. The stronger weapons are locked by level, so the more experienced players are not going to win by virtue of their skill - they are going to win because their gun is better than yours. This is a big problem, especially because of the broken matchmaking (more on that later). There are only a limited number of guns to choose from overall, and their only difference is the damage, fire-rate, range, and cooldown speed. While the card system somewhat helps to improve arsenal diversity, it doesn't help it enough to feel memorable (at least not in a good way). It's not a matter of "who shot first" or even "who is more skilled" - it's all about who has the bigger gun.

Previous Battlefront games did the weapon loadout thing much better, even the somewhat forgettable PSP Rogue Squadron and Elite Squadron games. In Previous Battlefront games, there were predefined loadouts that fit into certain roles - basic trooper, anti-vehicle heavy, engineer, sniper, faction specific classes. Each loadout had a role to fill, and even the faction specific classes didn't unbalance the teams. Each class could go toe-to-toe with each other class, assuming players of about equal skill level. I feel that Battlefront (2015) would have been a much better game if they copied the Rogue/Elite Squadron games when it came to loadouts. You're given a cap of 100 points, a primary weapon, secondary weapon, explosives, special item, power-up (passive or active buff), Health, Speed, Capture Rate & Stamina. All of the weapons available were well balanced so it was more about the role you wanted to fill or what playstyle you prefer, not which weapon was strongest.

Matchmaking is horrid. There is no balancing system, and teams aren't re-balanced between matches. The team that dominated last round will do so again this round unless players leave or join the session. This is particularly punishing for new players who don't have access to better weapons. On a side note, it is fun to win games. It is very fun, in fact. The sad thing is, it's not fun to be in a game which you are losing, especially since you feel like you can't do anything to turn it around - which is often true. This shows poor balancing by the development team - a video game should be fun to play whether you're winning or losing.

There is a variety of game modes, but the number of maps and planets are extremely limited. It's hard not to compare it to the previous Star Wars Battlefront games, especially in this regard. I have to say, this game only has superficial similarities to the previous Battlefront games. I tried to enjoy it without drawing unfair comparisons, but it falls flat in so many areas that I can't help but be disappointed in a game I had low expectations for. There is no Clone Wars era. There are no dedicated space battles. There is no Campaign, Galactic Conquest, or Instant Action game modes (all of which were equally important and fun to the original Battlefront games). There is a noticeably lower variety in maps and locations. The list goes on, but it's like beating a dead horse.

The final thing, and possibly the nail in the coffin, is the typical EA DLC. There is a "season pass' for DLC, which costs almost as much as the base game itself. They have given us no clue as to what is contained in any of the 4 planned DLC packs. Knowing EA's history, we can likely expect features expected to be released in the base game - like Clone Wars Era, and the upcoming Sequel trilogy Era, more maps of more well-known locations, more heroes, etc. Worse, it might not contain anything we wanted and just be filled with more maps and overpowered weapons locked to high-level players.

I may be somewhat biased in my opinions of the game, perhaps because I positively associate with Star Wars and Star Wars Battlefront, or maybe because I dislike EA. Either way, this game scores poorly in my books for a whole number of reasons, and the things it does well don't make up for it.

The "It's like being at Hoth" factor is undeniable. Great graphics, sounds, models... Great memories while playing. But I don't feel like playing again tonight. It's weird. But once you've tasted all... Hmmmm

¡It lacks a proper 1p mode and a more tactical multiplayer one!

To be honest I didn't thought they could **** up such a good licence that hard, but DICE somehow made it. While the graphics and sound are good, the gameplay is terrible and it feels like the worst casual shooter you can imagine. There is no depth and only four maps but hey you can pay another 50 bucks for DLC **** **** you EA, **** you DICE.

Let me start by saying that this is a beautiful looking game, it really puts you into that universe well because of it, which is awesome. However, it's missing a lot of features that made Battlefront unique and fun compared to standard FPS games. The maps feel like you're caged in a small area, which takes away that epic feeling that the battles had, with AI running around, vehicles scattered (rather than power-ups and vehicles on tracks), and just that feeling that you're apart of a massive epic battle.

Another thing it's missing is the space battles, which I absolutely loved, even more so when you could transfer from flying a spaceship, into being in a space station and being in an FPS situation, seamlessly. It blows my mind that they could leave that quintessential part of the Battlefront experience out.

Then there's a bunch of smaller things, like the class systems being gone, which gave a unique playstyle to different enemies and allies. Now it feels like everyone just has basically the same gear, making it incredibly homogenized. I'm sure I'm missing some things, but ultimately, what you're left with, is a game that feels like COD - Star Wars. Extremely watered down game, missing essentially everything that made Battlefront special. With that said though, it's visually amazing, and it's Star Wars, so I'd say it's worth like $10 or maybe $20.

Oh and the heroes/villains (Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, etc.) feel really simple and boring. Hard to describe exactly why I don't like them, but you could check out some video of their gameplay and see for yourself.

And then, slowly, it starts to get annoying. My own annoyances in no particular order:
    - You basically get one gun... with lots of skins. The trade-off is usually power/recharge/distance, but the weapons are all otherwise identical. Some of the old weapons from the Jedi Knight series would have been nice: bowcasters that shot bouncing rounds or even a railgun. Anything that added some variety in weapon choices.
    - The teams are wildly unbalance 80% of the time. On Walker maps you'll know which side will win within 3-5 minutes of playing. This is often just due to the map. On Endor the rebels will always win. They basically have to stop playing to lose that map.
    - There is zero coordination on teams. This is not entirely the games fault but some design decision really contribute to this: Team voice chat would really help, but the bizarre spawn points and multiple objectives always mean that there's little to no coordination on objectives.

For some PVP is wonderful, and I am, to be honest not that bad at it. There is an issue however when you leave out everybody who doesn't love PVP. For example I play a lot of video games, spend hours grinding to max level and truly love to play, many of my friends also enjoy games but are just not that good at them. They would like to play with me in a non competitive way, you ever heard of co-op? I'm sorry but a tacked on survival mode, is not even remotely enough in this area. Especially when you can only play it with one friend. So all of the people who were looking forward to this game with true excitement, now have no choice but to play PVP with me and get stomped on by COD losers and get called unspeakable things by 12 year old PVP obsessed children.
Is the gun play a little shallow? Yes. Is the PVP woefully unbalanced? Yes. Is that the biggest problem? No. The real problem here is that STAR WARS FANS can't enjoy this game, only PVP players can(yes, I realize there are those who are both). A campaign mode would help but even just giving us custom match mode vs AI would solve most of the problems. It would be nice to sign in and play with people who just want to have fun and feel like they are in Star Wars. I really had hoped for a game like the original battlefront, but with the stellar graphics we have always wanted to see. What I got was another FPS PVP fest that can't even compete with the dedicated PVP titles. I would give this game a lower score, but there is hope that it could be turned around in the future with some of the DLC. In addition the graphics are so impressive that it still holds some sway on me, but if I can't enjoy them with friends then its only a tiny amount.

Huge price for a only multiple player game. $50 for a season pass when Battlefront 2 is already slated for release next year.

At launch there are lots of sound and networking bugs as well.

This gets us to the game play. It's too fast to die.
You spawn, you die. You walk a bit, you die. You finally see a guy and get him, but then you die.
    die.die.die.

Not for me. Needs some of the Star Wars magic, not just the great A/V presentation.

Also very expensive for so little actual game. At launch it was $79.99 CDN, and the DLC pack for a year is another $69.99. That is insane. EA needs to pull it's head out. There is no game here, just pretty graphics. They should be offering a year of DLC as part of that ridiculous $*) for a game charge.

Not recommended unless they drop the price, or offer a lot of free content and game fixes.

I would return it, but I can't now because I gave it a chance to improve or grown on me.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game pisses me off. First, because I let my nostalgia and hope, that EA would not completely screw up for ONCE in their newly licensed games.

Second, because it is NOTHING like the original.

I feel actually angry and a company, not DICE. DICE did what they were told, I am not mad at them. No, EA is the bad guy here.

You take a game about capturing command posts and fighting massive battles filled with bots and with like 5-6 human players:

And turn in into a 20 on 20 battlefield experience where the spawns are so bad you can die before you even take a step. And this is WALKER ASSAULT. It is LITERALLY A STRIPPED DOWN VERSION OF "CREATE A CLASS" FROM CALL OF DUTY, Except it is SO basic, that unless you are using the bubble shield or jetpack, there is no difference between players, except maybe those who have no life and already have the Dark Trooper, or the Alien heads.

Where are the f*cking command posts? Y'know, the thing that made battlefront BATTLEFRONT???

Or space battles, what about those?

Besides walker assault, (which is the ONLY mode imo worth playing if you wanna get some hours outta this game btw) the only other "fun" mode is where everybody is in a x-wing or TIE fighter and we all duke it out. That was ridiculously fun. I enjoyed it just as much as walker assault. Both are the only modes worth playing more then once if you are getting the game for only entertainment. The other modes are your standard arena matches TDM, CTF, etc. The problem is there are other games that do it way better. *cough Black Ops 3 *cough*

When it comes to sound design and graphics, I give it a 10/10. Honestly, the sound and textures are mostly whats keeping this failed heartwrenching slap in the face from being a 0/10. Beautiful, well done. Except on the Heroes, those voices or whatever you got for them, sucked bad.

Now onto weapons. Yeah. Theres a real big problem here, and its really the one that knocked it down to a 3 from a 5 when I learned of it.

Tell me this, the game has just come out, and you are a games developer. You decide on a DLC bonus for the first week, what comes to mind? Double XP? A couple sweet camos? Maybe a player skin?

Naw, how about THE BEST F*CKING WEAPON IN THE GAME WHICH IS ALSO THE LAST UNLOCKED ONE!

Thats right, those that pre-ordered get the DL-44 Blaster Pistol (I think thats what it is called, idk) a pistol that kills in around 3 shots at far range, and 1 shot to the head and two to the body at close to medium, and has a fast fire rate.

That is dumb. Really dumb. That is a distinct advantage that has screwed me over everytime I play.

Everybody is using the DL-44 blaster, those that arnt (like me) get stomped as they just point and get 1 hit kill headshots out to RIDICULOUS RANGES.

That brings us to the Weapons part of the review.

    Yeah, theres a problem.

The weapons all sounds, act, and feel the same.

Balance needs to change. The pistol can outshoot the rifle at rifle ranges no sweat. And honestly, save your points for the LMG Laser gun thing, because once you get that, you are pretty much unstoppable.

Battlefront 2 and 1 only had like 6 classes per faction, but each had two weapons and all the classes had a distinct role. All the weapons were unique,

Final part of the review. Offline mode.

Pfft, battlefront having a online mode? You silly fool. This is EA we're talking about.

    They have THREE offline modes.

And one of them is a TUTORIAL.

"Battles" is when you just collect f*cking tokens and thats about it.

"Survival" is 15 waves against the Imperials. It shows promise at first, but would be better as a "unlimited wave" type mode. There is not much surviving if the matches end in 5 minutes. Plus you cannot even change classes without killing yourself. No command post to change, nothing. All of this is bull. EA needs to change their ways. I am SICK AND TIRED OF BELOVED FRANCHISES THAT I GREW UP WITH BEING TWISTED AND CORRUPTED. I will never EVER buy another EA product again. I gave you ONE chance, as my nostalgia and love for star wars made me want to play it, who wouldnt want to revisit fun memories? And you blew it EA. You took a valued part of my childhood, as well as years of waiting and hope for another BF game, and ripped it apart because of greed. Giving the best gun in the game to the dimwits who pre orded? What the heck is wrong with you EA? Screw you EA. I will NEVER.EVER. Buy another EA product again. I can't believe I trusted you, that you would change your ways. Using a nostalgic franchise name, and turned it into another generic Battlefield/COD FPS/Third Person Shooter with a Star wars Paintjob. You show ZERO respect to the franchise, not including ANY of the magic or game modes/mechanics that made the game great. But worst of all? You show ZERO respect to the fans. To your customers. Yall are terrible people EA. This was the last time I let you abuse my childhood for money Never buying from you again. Screw you EA.

The biggest problem to this game is the lack of meaningful counterplay. You die because someone shoots you from behind, or you get orbital striked, or you get an entire team of potatoes.

The 'weapon feel' is also frustrating -- sometimes your weapons feel incredibly effective, and other times, they can't seem to hit a damn thing.

If by any chance some of you are going to read this, please, take it seriously, because it will not only increase players' enjoyment of your games, but will also bring financial benefit to you guys through increasing the game's replayability and longevity with no (or very little amount of) extra work or resources.
So, I, like literally millions of people worldwide, love Star Wars. And obviously I will be inclined to consume (play, watch etc.) SW-themed entertainment products. As a typical situation, I come home from work and want to spend a couple of hours playing a SW-game. I want to get immersed into this galaxy, roleplay, really feel that I am a rebel/imperial soldier/Force-user in the Galaxy far far away - in other words have a good old nerdy fun. I may also want to play a competitive game against other people once in a while, but those two sorts of fun are to a large extent mutually exclusive, at least for me. I get it from the backlash of a part of the players, that it is not only my sentiment.
What I get with this game is a comlete lack of immersion. Yes, the graphics are great, the models authentic, the sound (which I cannot enjoy fully due to EA local language limitations) awesome, etc. But how in the world I can appreciate and truly take a moment to enjoy being a freaking Luke Skywalker or riding an AT-ST if I always have to rush somwhere - to capture bases, to kill or to not get killed, not to let my team down.. How can I roleplay if I see a mindless mob of players running around (no disrespect fellow players, I am one of the mindless mob myself - it is quite difficult to coordinate attacks without any in-game means of doing so), jumping, crouching in most unsuitable places - all in all, being PLAYERS and not a part of the living SW Galaxy. This affects immersion in a major way, and thus devaluates the SW component of the game. What is the use of it if I am unable to enjoy my favourite universe in the way I like?
I understand that people might say, that this is a multiplayer game and my complaints are pointless because I am simply not a part of its target audience. Perhaps they are right. But this is what I would like to make an emphasis on - why artificially limit your target audience when it could be broadened without significant extra work whatsoever? Why didn't EA simply make all those beautiful multiplayer maps playable in a single player mode with BOTS? Perhaps they are not as deadly as human players, but so what, it worked out for a lot of people in the first two games. Why couldn't it be implemented now? I just don't get it. With such game mode and the Galactic Conquest EA could feed me with their overpriced DLCs to the rest of my days, I would have bought all their little pistols, Han Solo panties and Leia's haircuts.
Without these modes, it is simply another FPS. Yes I will play it a couple of evenings just out of curiousity and love for Star Wars, but no more than that. it saddens me so much that developers just waist the potential presented by such a rich universe and such popular and successful games as battlefornt I and II.
And it is even more sad considering that the enourmous work and love for SW that had been put into making this game is clearly visible. This is why I am not going to give the game a very low rating. It is not a bad game - it is just made for fans of competitive multiplayer games. And it is clearly for these players to judge the game's other faults, like oversimplified gunplay, shallow gamemodes or its repetitive nature.

As for me, I would be happy with an extended single player mode - i.e. the ability to play with bots on multiplayer maps. And perhaps some more heroes (where the hell is Obi-Wan?).

    And space fights..

And Clone Wars era... ok, just kidding here

    Not really.

tl;dr: the EA are putting themselves in a tough position trying to find their fanbase in an overlapping of two sets of players - those who enjoy Star Wars, and those who enjoy multiplayer games exclusively. Not a game for a guy who likes to have his Star Wars fun in a single player.

It bothers me, that we live in a time where this has become the norm to release unfinished and bugged games. SWBF3 had some mind-boggling release bugs.

I have gotten the game on PC where the first bugs were gamebreaking; low framerate in menus and in inbetween map loadings as well as a glitch that caused the sound to either become an ear killing scratchy noise or often you would just have no more sound at all after playing 2 games, just the ingame music would be heard every now and then which is absolutely irritating since the stunning audio makes this game what it is. This was fixed approx. 2 weeks after the game's release by a graphics drivers update.

    A short list of cons:

o Match making is broken and does not match you with anyone even though there are thousands of players online at any given time.
I hate to be that guy to bring up the server browser idea, I don't say that this game necessarily needs it, but after I read that community manager aruged that the reason for not getting a server browser would be because they have implemented a _new_ groundbreaking future proof SKILL BASED match making system that will serve you sufficently. Well, it's true, as Western European I very rarely had trouble finding a match but there were times where I could not find a single lobby, even in the most prominent game types. Zero players. With luck I had two or three people join on a creating lobby, but with having to wait for 29 more players, you might be able to imagine how long they stuck around. Admittedly, this occured in early morning hours. But I ask: Why does this damned matchmaking not simply put me in a US Server match with east coast players or something ? I for my part could not complain about a 130ms latency when playing, at least I get to play the game. I checked a stat tracker -> swbfstats.com to be sure that there are at least 3,000 - 6,000 people online and playing. After 15-30 minutes of unsuccessful game searching I decided to connect to a canadian VPN and voilà instantaneously found a full lobby. The best thing is, there wasn't any noticeable lag for my part, the gameplay was just as fluent as always. I am asking, why can this messed up matchmaking not simply put me in a game further away when it cannot find a populated server within a 8,000km radius of me ? In my opinion, having to use a VPN to find a match is absolutely embarrasing and disgusting. Great implementation of an intelligent match-making system. Bravo!

    o Confusing menu design
I want to tie on this issue because it is related to match-making problems. With the release of the first DLC "Battle of Jakku" they indroduced a new tab in the multiplayer menu. Basically if you want to access the new DLC content and be matched with other players who have the DLC, you tick that additional option and click the new available game type to get matched. Sounds easy, right ? Unfortunately this non-idiot proof implementation split the playerbase completely. It is confusing because, once you decide to play a vanilla game type and leave that option checked you will find yourself not being able to find a full lobby, maybe 2-3 other people who made the same `mistake´as yourself. And this happened with a _free_ DLC release that everyone should be having access to. Basically the community was split in half. I suppose it's going to be disasterous with the release of the other DLC which cost money.

o Hero controls clunky and stiff , many skills cannot be cast while jumping, you cannot combo your skills as light saber hero, duels are crap, you often get stunlocked and your skills become disabled at times, which makes you just stand still and getting sliced up.

o Walking / pathing in this game is pretty horrendous. Be it a hill, a tree root or a small rock, you get stuck everytime on every possible small obstacle, so get used to repeatedly jump over every little rise you see.

o Some maps, especially in the Walker Assault game type are a little unbalanced.

o Air vehicle: A-Wing BUGGED since release date. You cannot hit the AWings hitbox with normal shots which makes the Rebel team win 90% of all matches in the dog-fight only game type.

o Gun variety boring. The best gun is unlocked from the beginning, the experimental fun with the others doesn't last long.

o First DLC lacks content. New gametype boring after a couple of rounds. If I had to pay for this, I'd be pissed.

o No auto balance mid-game, no team switch opportunity. Enjoy your 8v3 matches

o No communication means, objectives are not labeled with a letter.

It would be an okay game for 20 or 30 bucks, not more. I don't see how this game would survive in the long run.

For a good game, wait 1-2 more years until it has been fixed by content & bugfix patches.

Well another cash grab from EA......anyone surprised by this lol! Very very sad to see the star war name used for what is really just a cut and paste from battlefield. And the best part is they cut out the single player game.
Look at all that money they saved doing that. In fact don't expect to ever see another FPS from EA with a single player campaign again. The good.....i didn't pay for

One of the most blatant, money grabbing dlc scandals of the next generation. I have to WAIT to PAY for more of the game in expensive upcoming DLC expansions. I hope EA is regreting this scam. I also hope you people are regretting buying this, because you have been wronged.

This is the most mindless, frustrating, ill conceived "shooter" that I have ever played and I've pretty much played them all. The Graphics are over the top fantastic and so is the sound. It really gives you the feeling of being in a Star Wars movie. That's the plus side and EA/Dice should win awards for just how fantastic the graphics are as well as the sound. No question. If they don't win awards, for visual and audio, I would be very surprised.

Now... for the "Game" part.... As good as the sound and graphics are, the gameplay is the EXACT opposite. It's atrocious. I can't even get my head around what they were trying to accomplish or what their vision was, if they even had any. It's bizarre, because on one hand you have this such a stunning visual and audio immersion, then you have some sort of mosh pit of random, meaningless gameplay. The hit detection (if you can call it that) is without a doubt, the most random garbage you could imagine. There's no sense of any reason or goal to it. It takes zero (and I mean ZERO) skill to play this game.

It's an extremely weak arena of random death with meaningless "objectives" that nobody even bothers to pay attention to. Because if you do, you'll be fired upon with as much laser fire and grenade spam possible. Taking cover is a waste of time. You spend more time looking at the respawn screen more than you do playing. You can literally be shot from across the map by someone with the starting gun, that you can't even see. Everyone just runs around randomly firing at each other and this game is the poster child for "Grenade Spam" You could actually remove the guns from the game because they are meaningless, and just let people throw overpowered grenades at each other.

You want to like this game, because the graphics and the atmosphere warrants it, you feel like you SHOULD like this game because it looks like it's supposed to be quality, but you can't. There's no "game", just random garbage being thrown around on a beautiful landscape. If you took the audio and visual elements of of this, it wouldn't sell for a dollar. I'm not joking, it's that terrible.

Not even going to go into the fact that there are only four maps, but it just compounds the insult to the fact that you spent $60 bucks on it already, and unless you pop another $50 (fat chance of that) that this is the best it's gonna get.

To say this game is a disappointment, would be an understatement.

The matchmaking for PC is completely broken. DO NOT waste your cash on this game until an update is provided by the developers. Currently, their only response to the matchmaking issues is a post on the battlefront forums.
Right now, finding a game in Asia/Pacific and South America is near-impossible. Expect a wait of up to 2 hours to fill a server on the smaller game modes, and if you find a game in Turning Point, enjoy playing the same map over and over as the new mode is unavailable on any map but Graveyard of Giants.

DICE have killed the PC version, and future DLC through the season pass will only serve to split the dwindling player base.

This is one of the most fun, immersive and meticulously detailed online FPS games of the year. However, in it's current state, it's window dressing for the star wars universe and nothing else.

I have played early access titles that feel more finished than this game. It is as though EA/DICE are pursuing the early access route without letting the public know that its an early access title. There are blatant quality problems, for example, the sun shining on and reflecting off of surfaces inside of buildings. I don't want to list the rest.

I was disappointed to say the least. For a Star Wars title, for its time, it is not good. If DICE had just re-skinned Battlefield and called it Star Wars, it would play better than this. This feels like a from-scratch game. Or a port.

as for the multiplayer, levels are very unbalanced for the walker assault, dont even try winning on endor if you're playing as the empire
the guns are somewhat poorly done, there's a gun that you'll unlock at level 3 but at level 5 you can get a gun that is a direct upgrade to it which is pretty pointless, i think there's a few more there as well
if you're ever caught wondering what gun the guy at the top of the leader board is using it's han solo's blaster with it's 2 shot kill
there's also the lack of content (4 maps and a bunch of gamemodes 2 of which people will only play, walker assault and deathmatch were the only ones i could get a game for)for it's hefty $90 AUD pricetag for the standard edition and the $60 season pass if you want the future content, likely 1 new map per dlc
for those who want to return this game you can in the first 30 days if you bought through origin
    Pros:
    graphics
    sound
    Netcode

    Cons:
    lack of solo/co-op
    price
    unbalanced maps
    unbalanced weapons
Disappointing customization (omg wow i can change to an old guy or an alien golly gee)

That doesn't ruin the game entirely, but it's a minus. 4 maps, and they're all bland and linear. Better yet, EA is charging another 50 DOLLARS for more maps that will most likely be bland and linear. There's a decent amount of gamemodes, but people only care about one of them and even that one gets stale after a while. If we had a better publisher, this game could've been great! There are a good amount of modes to play but half of them are no popular and are now empty, leaving you with walker assault, supremacy (with only 4!! maps to play these modes) and some modes which are played in "other maps" smaller and not as enjoyable(in replayability).

The only way to enjoy the game is playing 2 or 4 matches a week other way you feel how shallow the game is with the character progresion. It misses a lot a of things they could have added.

Rigth now is multiplayer only 60$ and 50$ more in DLC, you decide if it is worth the money you spend, for me clearly It isnt they tried to get the casual and the hardcore gamers together , the hardcore gamers cant enjoy the game because there is nothing that requieres skill most of it is based in who saw who first, the casuals suffer from the people who spend 10$ more in the game and have the best gun so the new people are disencourage to continue.

Apart from that there are skills which provide several bonuses for the people who can level up faster and it is clearly a mayor disadvantage to new player casual or hardcore.
Recomendation: Read other reviews not official ones, the user ones, not the 0 or 1, the 2 or 3 which is what the game deserves now. Or go to youtube and whatch gameplays.

I've never played an FPS that was so linear like Star Wars Battlefront, you have at best 10h of content before having explored everything. But the saddest part is there is no customer support, bugs have been in the game for months now, and no patch since despite the community harassing EA and DICE for fixes. A few of those bugs are event game breaking, the "HsVV" gamemode has been broken for two months as of the day of this review. There is also a lack of attention for PC players, you can't actually choose what map or gamemode you want to play, you'll get put back into a playlist of modes that you'll have to play, the game is riddled with hackers that have been reported countless times, but EA who is responsible for actions against hackers has taken none, want a taste? Which brings me to the bad things: The gameplay.
How can a game be so boring? So stale? So bland? So dull? So skill-less?

Gunplay is random, deaths are random, powerups are random. It really doesn't require skill. Nothing does. You will never see someone extremely skilled be on top of the scoreboard, purely because they are good, because even bad players can get on top if they are lucky enough to have good powerups or enter a lot of vehicles (which is only available for the Empire).

There is no teamwork, since it is simply not possible. Matches are as follows:
    1) Spawn
    2) Shoot
    3) Kill
    4) Die of a random nade or powerup.

This is only extended a long time if you use powerups. It's just boring. There is 0 variety in the game. My fear is that everything will be in DLCs, which you need to buy ofc...

Plus, the higher your level is, the more powerful your traits will be. It makes new players not only fight against experienced players, but also against players with more health/damage!

Fortunately, we were able to return the game, but we spent plenty of time and both of us had the exact same feelings of Battlefront: it looks great, sounds great but loses its appeal within a few hours because you experience EVERYTHING this game has to offer. No unlocked weapons or tricks will change that. Even when I rolled a team by going 48-6 and my team crushing the opposition, I wasn't ever loving the experience. The best moments for me came in Endor - the best planet to play on by far because of its dense forest play that doesn't force you into paths (it's more like the Battlefield free roaming feel). Still, nothing can save this game without adding a ton of content. Sadly, the DLC is $50 for a season pass and only brings new planets and maps plus a couple weapons. What EA needs to do is add even more, but I don't see this as being a big seller because even Star Wars fans aren't wanting anything to do with it after an entire day of playing it. Unfortunately, I don't have a PlayStation or XBox, so I had to get it for PC via Origin. After hours of downloading, I open it up, look around a little, and my first thought was "is this it?". Yes, it was. Unlike the original Battlefront games, there is little single player "instant action" type game modes. Only two, both being a team deathmatch of sorts that gets old after a couple plays. I get that the main feature of this game is its online play, so I checked that out. It took forever to load, and several disconnects from EA servers (which are terrible by the way), but I finally got in and explored the game modes. The number of maps is limited; only four planets with different maps on each one. Most of the game modes are forgettable - mostly they boil down to spawn, kill, die, repeat. I don't see any aspect of skill improvement; most of it's just luck in where you spawn and managing to shoot straight.

The specifics are a drag as well. The guns, which vary based on rate of fire, range, and damage, are unlocked via leveling up, which is only done by playing multiplayer. Likewise, skins for your rebel or imperial character are unlocked the same way. They aren't exciting, just different faces, hair styles, and eventually species/armor changes such as Twi'leks and shadowtroopers. The season path is simply ridiculous. It's 50 more bucks and you get some average guns and more maps, making almost a pay-to-win FPS.

A little more specifics: power ups. Instead of hopping in an X-Wing that is sitting around, you pick up a glowing power up thing, hold a button, and magically appear in the air, flying the X-Wing (just an example of the debilitation of gameplay).

What EA has done here is sold a bare-bones game and added expensive DLC, knowing that people will buy it because of TFA hype and the necessity for further enjoyment in an otherwise dull game. I guess they put all their resources into graphics and audio and simply forgot that there's a pretty important aspect called gameplay (the graphics, to be fair, are pretty incredible, and the audio is reminiscent of a real Star Wars battle).

I'm going to sound cliché here, but EA had beautiful references to work with, even if they were a decade old. Those games were unique, ahead of their time, and provided endless hours of fun in a variety of ways. Instead, it feels like a COD-esque game with a dash of Star Wars, with rushed fundamentals thrown together in time to hit shelves at optimal time and profit.

Unfortunately, that wears off, and what you have left is gameplay that feels more akin to a phone app. Heroes vs Villains was the only mode I genuinely enjoyed, because it felt like it had some depth to it, a sort of rock paper scissors style, if you will. DLC has cut its already small player base in half by making its desperately needed content only available to people who paid out the ass for this crap.

All EA had to do was take the greatly loved concepts of the earlier Battlefronts and slap their beautiful atmosphere on top of it, and I guarantee this review I'm writing would've been much, much higher.

This game was made with a minimum of effort by EA, the developers didn't have to create this "good looking" empty aberration from a scratch, they already had its predecessors and they should keep some essential mechanisms like the use of ships and vehicles, the "classes" selection, the planets system and not the "pick up", the "star cards" and like 8 planets ****
And the worst is that EA even didn’t wait a year to say (hey we know we made mistakes with the actual BATTLEFRONT so the next year BATTLEFRONT 2 will have all the things that the 1 didn't have, so **** you!!, you will have to pay us a complete extra game with all the **** dlc so you can almost enjoy the complete Star Wars "experience", because being honest we are going to release a BATTLEFRONT 3 with all the things that the 1 and the 2 didn't had)
There are no pros and cons for me, only that this game sucks.
Don’t buy the next "Battlefront" so we can send a message to EA and their "brilliant ideas".

Its ok for a star wars fan. Graphics is really great, AT-AT mode is quite interesting but dont expect the game to be fun for more than a few days. Actually if they only put the gameplay of the good old BF 2142 into this game, it would be much better. Gameplay in SW battlefront isnt really developed or advanced .

I actually wanted something that could be construed as a casual shooter, so in this respect i got what i wanted, although i expected it to be a little dissimilar to quake.

the lack of a single player campaign is not an issue for me and the vs mode against bots at least give you an insight to some of the maps (and a few perk points)+(unlocking thermal det's is a must in early lvl's)

Yes i'm enjoying the game but.....

My main gripe is tha lack of Galactic conquest, i would've loved to have seen it but sadly it is a mode not included.
Also MONEY, is MONEY something we can't include in reviews ?
The two pronged attack of DLC... der der derrrrrrr.

We bought a game that is essentially missing maps, modes, emotes, weps etc. A console port if you will.
The second 'prong' if you like arises when dlc must be released quickly, before interest in the title wanes and i guess they will come thick and fast after December.

People are not stupid. they know this stuff is already developed and should've been included in the release, disappointing to se another supposed +AAA title sold down the digital river. The game will never be worth £100, it's like a kind of macabre reverse software piracy.

All in all though, it's a solid title that will appeal to sw fans and casuals alike. Great graphics/integration but ultimately not all that it could have been.

But, worst thing in whole game are bowcaster and DL-44 weapons. First you play up to level 25 and 32 only to unlock this because without them you are helpless.
After 20 hours and unlocking this game become stupid battlefield where EVERYBODY use only those 2 weapons.

Those 2 weapons are so much overpowered that using anything else make you sitting duck.
In combination with enemy respawning behind your back all the time game become pointless.

ADVICE: If you forget all of this and get the game do not play "blast". It's loaded with bowcaster noobs and game is no fun. Play something with tactics included like "cargo" or "drop zone" where game start to become playable.

With some tweaks this game could easy be score 8!

I, however, think this game is a refreshing addition to world of online shooters. The presentation of this game is immaculate, and the graphics and sound are dead on. The game is designed to be a pick up and play game. A game to let loose. Reminds me of the days spent on N64 playing Golden Eye. Frantic fun without the headaches of being overly complex.

The weapon choice is limited, and customization is limited to "Hands" and blaster choice - but so what? It's nice to have a game that doesn't force me to stress over an overly thought out loadout. The Cosmetic choice is also limited, but really I see no real need to be overly concerned with that in a FPS game in the Star Wars Universe.

I will mention that, for what you get initially, the price is the biggest drawback of Battlefront. The season pass is ridiculously priced, but we are likely going to see prices trend this way. Knowing that the developer is DICE, I'm fairly confident that the DLC will be worthy of the price - and that updates should be plentiful.

Is this game perfect? No. Is it fun? Yes. Star Wars fans and online multiplayer fans should really consider trying this one out. It isn't very deep, but in its own way, it's extremely enjoyable.

Personally, I give it a 8/10 since I love the gameplay, atmosphere and the game modes very much. It's true it's not deep like BF4 or even COD or HALO in some ways, but I love it - It's the Star Wars game I've always wanted. I really would compare this to Goldeneye on N64 - as it is more about characters and match modes than customization. The DLC is not priced very well, I admit it. But I've spent MORE money on games that have brought me less enjoyment thus far.

There are lots of gimmicky insta-kill weapons like the AT-AT and the Bowcaster. Everyone gets infinite grenades. Some of the higher level weapons are massively overpowered, and as such are abused by the high level players. Spawns are a mess. You can get killed by a hero, spawn right next to him and get killed again. There are pickups for various items like gun turrets, though whether you get them or not depends on whether you can beat your own teammates to them. Because there are no player classes, it is very hard to control the battlefield using teamwork. Every game ends up feeling like a huge free-for-all, with random deaths coming from every direction, regardless of how skilled you are as a player. Needless to say, this makes the game very frustrating. It's only the Star Wars universe that keeps me engaged at the moment, and I think that will be running out very soon. Expand

    1. Lack of content
    2. Missing depth

    1. The game offers 4 different landscapes and for each of them there are multiple maps, adapted to the different modi.
Each of the maps feels good. I have no clear favourite and no map that I particularly dislike.
The major movie sets are all present:
Tatooine: Desert hills and Mos Esley Hangar
Hoth: Different parts of the rebel base and the ice desert
Endor: Different parts of the wood and Imperial bunkers.

Yes, I could easily think of missing maps: Jabbas palace, cloud city, death star. To make up for this there are the sullust maps.

    2. The gameplay does not have the depth of a battlefield. But depending on your weapon, your playstyle will vary. A heavy blaster doesn't feel like a shotgun.
Tactical advantages can be felt clearly: On many maps there are elevated positions which will offer you very good field of view.
Flanking your enemies is often possible.

Missing depth is not a problem to me, Missing teamplay is. No squad mechanism, no way to supply your teammates with ammo or revive them. Interaction between friendly players does not exist.

And: Missing space combat. I actually reinstalled the old battlefront to take a look at this. The old space battles feel very similar to the new flight mode. Essentially you are flying on rails. This mode isn't fun at all but honestly: How do you expect dice to implement an engaging air combat system, if the star wars universe has no proper flight physics in its lore. Look at those ships. How are they supposed to fly ? Just avoid this gamemode, play warthunder instead.

    Lets rate it:
10 points for audio and video. Minus 1 for missing maps, minus 2 for lacking teamplay. Plus one because honestly, I haven't had that much fun with a game in a long time. Makes 8. No substraction for space combat, that was broken to begin with.

I am tempted to give this game 10 points just to even out the bad ratings. But please, let's stop abusing the system.
Battlefront is a very polished and extremely fun game. It's not as big as could be and it's not as strategic as battlefield.
But it deserves better than the 4.0 average.
    8 honest points from me.

Come on people, a zero rating is basically an unplayable piece of garbage whose game disc is better served as a coaster. If you think it is a ok game give it a 5 or 6 . If it is absolutely terrible give it a 3 or 4. t isn't the best game I've ever played, but it is Star Wars and it is pretty fun while it lasts.

If it is absolutely terrible give it a 3 or 4. t isn't the best game I've ever played, but it is Star Wars and it is pretty fun while it lasts.

Legitimate complaints that I have are how few vehicles and weapons there are, as well as the "floaty" air vehicle controls. I know the Rebels don't have a lot of vehicles in the movies, but I would think they could reach into the EU and pull out a tank or something. The Empire has the AT-ST and the Rebels get... stationary turrets?

There are 11 blasters, but they all seem to be close to medium range weapons, with an emphasis on close. I know it is Star Wars and all, but lasers having bullet time doesn't make sense to me. Having to noticeably lead shots at even a medium distance is an annoyance. It would have been nice to have close, medium and medium-long range weapons, with the long range/high power limited to star cards.

Also, the handling for the fighters/ air speeders is just off. They're easy to fly, but in order to do anything useful in them (i.e. shoot things) it requires more skill than I've got.

I think what would really help is if the flying sensitivity was reduced once you held down the aim button. I've got it on 20% sensitivity and while this is fine for flying it is pretty difficult to keep your aim steady. What would be really nice is to have land speeders, bombers, and fighters. Land speeders would stay much closer to the ground than they do now, bombers would have no lock-on counter-measures except aerial maneuvers and high reload time on the bombs and fighters would be adept at taking out the other two and evading lock-ons.

For all the people saying that this wouldn't be anything special if it wasn't Star Wars, then I have to say: no crap! Any game in which the characters and setting are made generic would not be very special. That's the point. That is why it is Star Wars Battlefront and not Generic Space Marine 4000.

As for the other complaints: Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I don't care that much about customizing the camo on my weapon, the color of my laser sight, or even the look of my player. If the game has solid shooting mechanics and is fun then it is a fun game.
However, I am aware that this matters to some people and I respect that.

One thing that I don't care for however is this idea that a game can't get a good rating unless it is loaded with maps and content. There is a difference between quality and value. For me this game is a 7.5 for QUALITY and a 5.5 for VALUE. This is why I think the whole practice of having a single number to represent the score for a game is fallacious. For a movie it is ok, since the value gap is no more than an hour or two, but for games, where the amount of content ranges from 5 hours to 200 hours this causes a problem.

You can have a game that is the best freaking thing since sliced bread and yet it only lasts 5 hours, but it shouldn't be rated as if it sucked just because it was short. Yeah, this game only has 4 maps for walker assault and supremacy. There could have been 5 or 6. However, there are 9 other maps that you can play if you go out of your comfort zone a little and play 7 of the other 9 modes.

I will say that the entire season pass phenomenon is troubling and I can certainly see that as being the main issue that people take with this game. For a game that is already borderline low on content (I don't count a non-existent single-player as one of the issues for this one), seeing that there are already four planned expansion packs at launch is really kind-of a punch in the mouth. What would be truly appalling would be if it was found out that the maps and features in those expansion packs are already complete or heaven forbid, already on-disc. This should have been a $30 or $40 game, not $65.However, I know that pricing a game that low at launch gives people the idea of poor quality right out of the gate, so it would have been best to have taken two of those expansion packs and folded them into the original product. I know they almost certainly had a deadline to get this released before The Force Awakens released and that has to be a large part of the issue here. Honestly I would have preferred for them to have released it after the movie with more content. At the very least EA and Disney should have provided more resources so that they could have gotten the extra content done on time.

Perhaps measure it by how innovative it is?

From the perspective of how well EA Dice achieves what it set out to do with Battlefront, how can anyone say that they came up with anything but all aces? The production value of this game is staggering. This labor of love (Peter Jackson's LOTR trilogy comes to mind) is an absolutely exquisite homage to everything Star Wars. There simply isn't anything that doesn't look and sound absolutely authentic. Seriously, this is stunning work by so many artists and designers. Kudos to EA Dice for their unbelievable attention to detail. 10/10 from this perspective.

Is it perfect? No. What is? Bugs? Check. Balance Issues? Sure. Missing content? Come the #$%@ on. This is Star Wars. 7 movies worth (just for starters) of story, characters and lore. Expecting all of that to be in a single game is ludicrous. Personally, I look forward to new DLC, and will evaluate each as an optional purchase as they are made available over the course of 2016. More content to come...and certainly fixes, improvements, and enhancements too. 7/10 here.

This is a game, like Star Wars itself, meant to be enjoyed by everyone that cares to be. From ages 8-80. Boys and girls. Moms and dads, sons and daughters. Everyone. First priority seems to have been authenticity. Second appears to have been accessibility. A tremendous effort toward making sure that anyone can pick up a controller or mouse and dive into the Star Wars universe for as long as they care to. 9/10 here.

I, for one, am thrilled to gift this game to my kids, new to the Star Wars world. What a wonderful box of toys to roll around in for awhile.

How does anyone give this effort less than a 5? Or a zero?

Anger, hate...vengeance. Truly the path to the dark side.

While I agree that this game is limited for a $60 purchase it should be considered that as a shooter it is a great experience. It brings that arcade style feel to shooters and stays true to the Star Wars universe with amazing atmosphere, sound and visuals, it is worth more than a 5 purely on those factors.

It's definitely not perfect as there isn't enough content initially to warrant its price tag and with expensive DLC it will definitely be hard to justify buying it for someone who wants a great package for 60 bucks.

Overall I think any FPS lover will love this game and It's definitely worth trying out.

It looks and sounds awesome, the atmosphere is fantastic. Landscape and characters are very well detailed, you won`t find a single texture that looks worse than "photo quality". A very good thing for Star Wars fans.

Then there`s the gameplay. It resembles call of duty to me with a little "wannabe battlefield" in terms of teamplay. The gameplay is simplified, no aiming precision drop during movement, no character classes, no vehicles on the map like in BF. You can find powerups with random content on the map and use them to get a vehicle or a hero if you`re lucky, but i`d better stick with larger maps and vehicle spawn points like in battlefield.
However, this game has some bright spots compared to BF. There are no enemy infantry markers unlike BF. Thanks to this and the very detailed graphics, you can actually hide in landscape and play guerilla style. And this does not break game balance because once you open fire, everyone sees your laserbeams flying and can pinpoint your direction. That forces you to hide and move, not just camp a bush. That`s a good addition to BF gameplay style.

But then there`s a huge downside to this game. Content variety. The game is very repetitive and it has very little content. There are only 11 guns for both empire and rebels (they use the same guns), except for 5 more guns available via character cards and some random powerups.
Guns can`t be customized. Character looks can`t be customized, you can only change the head from a number of presets. Every empire player looks as a default stormtrooper forever and every rebel player looks as a "Endor assault squad" rebel. Forever. Customization cards doesnt give you many customization options as well. Mostly it`s a "select a grenade" thing plus a couple of specific options.
The vehicle selection is poor. Unless i`m mistaken, there`s only ONE operatable heavy vehicle in the game - the AT-ST.

This might have been a good multiplayer game, it has potential. But it lacks a lot of content. Clearly this is DLC oriented, but i fear that EA might have gone the "Destiny" road, expecting to make a very empty game and then sell lots of small packs for big money during several years. And if they do it, it`s possible that they won`t be able to deliver enough content for this game to feel "complete" or at least "big"

This game really took my attention for a few days.
    Pros:
Stunning visuals Authentic Star Wars gameplay experience Good performance on an above-average PC Rewarding character progression Cons: Definitely not worth 60$ (or Euros in my case) Not even talking about the 120€ bundle (ffs EA I live in a 3rd world country and I'm a Star Wars fan - give me a break here!) Gets boring after

Gets boring after a week of play
Locations are repetitive, lackluster map variation
Maps and player limit could be bigger (at least 64 players per map)
    No campaign

All in all, a strong 6.

Let Me Simply Lay It Out Right Away!

This is not a bad game nor is it a masterpiece. If you are on here because you don't know if it's worth a buy or not, keep in mind that anyone rating this under 5 are clearly trolls or simply having a bad day. People will generally be complaining about gun play. That is absolutely a valid point, however if you have been on the show since the release

People will generally be complaining about gun play. That is absolutely a valid point, however if you have been on the show since the release of the first Battlefront, you'd know that robust gunplay never was the main focus of the game. It has always been a very casual game, and that's how people, including myself, used to enjoy it back in the days - casual couch-gaming with the friends.

If you want a game that resembles your old childhood-favorite, then yes - you should get this game. You will have lots of fun enjoying large scale battles, next-gen graphics and the solid sound design. However, if you're an individualistic player that enjoys taking responsibility, improving your skills and get turned on by making a clear difference for your team, then don't buy this game. You're better of killing time in CS, CoD or Rainbow Six. My tip is to treat them all differently instead of expecting them all to share the same goals and focus.

I was majorly pumped for the official release of battlefront, but I must say I was initially a little disappointed. I played a few games of survival and I really couldn't get into it.

But then I played Walker Assault (Main Multiplayer game-mode) and MAN! It is truly an incredible feeling to play as part of your team across the impeccably detailed maps blasting away at your opponents on foot or within a vehicle like an x-wing or AT-ST. I would pay the $100 merely for the walker assault game-mode, let alone all the others. I am a Star Wars fanboy, and I think that is who the game is targeted at. Being able to be part of Star Wars battles is really what makes it enjoyable for me, and I think the reason people are giving bad reviews is because
    a) They don't love Star Wars.
    OR
    b) They were expecting the game to be like previous versions of battlefront.

In short, if you love Star Wars, this is the game for you.

A perfect game for short sessions. It’s not deep enough to convince online shooters veterans, but it will definitely win over Star Wars fans. [01/2016, p.34]

Star Wars Battlefront looks and sounds great, and with Battlefield-class gameplay could have ruled the multiplayer galaxy. Unfortunately, at best OK-level, Battlefront-class gameplay is much too shallow to last long. And this is THE one license, which really needs a single player campaign. [Dec 2015]

Any semblance of subtlety is abandoned entirely when it comes to the playable Hero and Villain characters. [Jan 2016, p.110]
