Very repetitive game, I was bored within half an hour but I tried to give it a chance and played for about 8 hours without having any fun. They seem to have literally picked the worst mechanics they could find, slapped on a couple Star Wars skins and made one map which switches from snow to rocks and called it a day. Most disappointing game of the year for sure, quite possibly of my life.

Most game modes have 4 maps only. Other modes have 7 tiny maps.
Lack of weapons. Servers are super bad (lag spikes on my 80/80 mbit connection)
Poor map design (unbalanced) The power pick up is super stupid. No classes. Why is Droids vs Clones not a thing? Probably some overpriced DLC. If your random partner disconnects, it doesn't find you a new one. The graphics are nice but it

Its just pay to win! Its like you play cs:go and the ak deals more damage if you buy the deluxe edition of cs:go?!

To me this was a game that I was greatly anticipating and very eager to play. I participated in open beta and was willing to forgive bugs and black screen issues on my wife's pc because it was a beta.

To me this was a game that I was greatly anticipating and very eager to play. I participated in open beta and was willing to forgive bugs and black screen issues on my wife's pc because it was a beta.

This is the official release, and many of the bugs are still there. Primarily the black screen. The game is unplayable as all that comes up is a black screen. I was able to play mine maxed out on my rig no issues or frame rate drops. It even runs fine on my old Alienware mx14xr1 (about a 3.5yr old laptop).

The flight system is horrible, the vehicle system abysmal. For starters there is no joystick support at all what so ever, you can use an xbox controller, but this gives it a cheap port feeling. Like they didn't give a care for the PC. Then secondly the spawning in vehicles is cheap un-inmersive, and feels like a half finished game. One would be expecting to be able to go to a hangar and jump in your fighter and roll out. But none of that happens. U just spawn up in the air already in flight, only to crash to the ground shortly after from the horrible controls. This also ruins the game as well because the battle field as epic as they wanted it to seem it is hard for it to look awesome as you see tie fighters, a wings, and x wings raining down on the battle field not from being shot down but from pilots not being able to control them and just slamming to the deck.

The partner system is also disappointing and seems limiting not to mention for a battle field game the maps feel small and confined and very few players. some maps 12v12 and max is 20v20 this also seems as a limitation because of consoles. This is in no way epic and perhaps the reason for the spawn in vehicle system to make the battle field seem more crowded. This should have truly been made for the pc and watered down for the console peasants. I am hugely disappointed and have walked away from this tittle.

Again I praise origin over their refund policy as it is amazing letting us walk away from shoddy developers.
Steam has tried, but falls short on this as I feel their return policy is inferior.

I hope they fix this tittle but as it stands this tittle has no hope.

    Pros:
    - good visuals
    - fast paced action
    - laser battles are amazing
    - feels like you are in a star wars movie

    cons
    - flying is lame and boring
    - spawns are horrible
    - map feels confined and small.
    - Black screen on start up that won't let my wife even play the game
    - partner system seems limiting
    - no joystic support for flying
    - power ups, weapons, and vehicles are icons like a retro arcade video game

Hope this helps those of you that are on the fence.

EA has relatively large QA testing teams, I'm sure they were thinking the same exact thing as all these players giving reviews as they played this game. It's on EA for not listening to the tester's opinion on what makes the game bland and disappointing... I'm sure even most of the devs knew it was going to be disappointing at some point before the game came out, but at EA the devs are only allowed to do what the investors and non-gamer heads of development dictate.

Game play is very repetitive and after 15 hours I don't see much point in carrying on playing with only emotes and skins to unlock.
They have removed most of the "cool" things from the series like Space Battles, galactic conquest and the clone wars era...Clone wars is a part of star wars even if it was not well received back in the day, would have made more sense to see some of the old Star Wars heroes/villains brought back for this reboot.
I do feel a burnt after spending so much money on this title, I see no value for money and feels like a expensive cash grab.
The game play makes me think of old call of duty with constant grenade spam and one sided fights, no classes so you can't switch on the fly to the changing battle.
Lack of customization, yeah you can unlock different skins but most all look the same and only result in a head/hair change.
Think the game has a total of 15 weapons to unlock which is just not enough.
The game feels like a slice of burnt toast, it runs like butter and looks great covered in cheese but it tastes awful and only lasts a short while.

But there's one thing that completely destroyed the game for me, that's the 'Star Card' progression system. The Star Cards are little things you can use from Thermal Detonators to Jetpacks, Impact Grenades and a whole lot more. But the problem with the Star Cards is that they are direct upgrades. Starting players get nothing, now, in the beginning it's easy to unlock these things but as you progress it gets slower and more powerful. The pulse rifle, for example is unlocked fairly early on and it's a one shot kill no matter where you hit the body (Also of note: The hitboxes are terrible.)

    Overall;
Graphics 9/10, seen prettier. But it's still gorgeous.

Progression 2/10, A broken grind that makes those who play more infinitely more powerful than the average Joe.

Gameplay 6/10 Core gameplay is fun, but could use work

Balance 3/10 A complete overhaul of some gamemodes as well as the progression system is needed.

However, it's missing a lot of features that made Battlefront unique and fun compared to standard FPS games. The maps feel like you're caged in a small area, which takes away that epic feeling that the battles had, with AI running around, vehicles scattered (rather than power-ups and vehicles on tracks), and just that feeling that you're apart of a massive epic battle.

Another thing it's missing is the space battles, which I absolutely loved, even more so when you could transfer from flying a spaceship, into being in a space station and being in an FPS situation, seamlessly. It blows my mind that they could leave that quintessential part of the Battlefront experience out.

Then there's a bunch of smaller things, like the class systems being gone, which gave a unique playstyle to different enemies and allies. Now it feels like everyone just has basically the same gear, making it incredibly homogenized. I'm sure I'm missing some things, but ultimately, what you're left with, is a game that feels like COD - Star Wars. Extremely watered down game, missing essentially everything that made Battlefront special. With that said though, it's visually amazing, and it's Star Wars, so I'd say it's worth like $10 or maybe $20.

Oh and the heroes/villains (Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, etc.) feel really simple and boring. Hard to describe exactly why I don't like them, but you could check out some video of their gameplay and see for yourself.

It looks and sounds awesome, the atmosphere is fantastic. Landscape and characters are very well detailed, you won`t find a single texture that looks worse than "photo quality". A very good thing for Star Wars fans.

Then there`s the gameplay. It resembles call of duty to me with a little "wannabe battlefield" in terms of teamplay. The gameplay is simplified, no aiming precision drop during movement, no character classes, no vehicles on the map like in BF. You can find powerups with random content on the map and use them to get a vehicle or a hero if you`re lucky, but i`d better stick with larger maps and vehicle spawn points like in battlefield.
However, this game has some bright spots compared to BF. There are no enemy infantry markers unlike BF. Thanks to this and the very detailed graphics, you can actually hide in landscape and play guerilla style. And this does not break game balance because once you open fire, everyone sees your laserbeams flying and can pinpoint your direction. That forces you to hide and move, not just camp a bush. That`s a good addition to BF gameplay style.

But then there`s a huge downside to this game. Content variety. The game is very repetitive and it has very little content. There are only 11 guns for both empire and rebels (they use the same guns), except for 5 more guns available via character cards and some random powerups.
Guns can`t be customized. Character looks can`t be customized, you can only change the head from a number of presets. Every empire player looks as a default stormtrooper forever and every rebel player looks as a "Endor assault squad" rebel. Forever. Customization cards doesnt give you many customization options as well. Mostly it`s a "select a grenade" thing plus a couple of specific options.
The vehicle selection is poor. Unless i`m mistaken, there`s only ONE operatable heavy vehicle in the game - the AT-ST.

This might have been a good multiplayer game, it has potential. But it lacks a lot of content. Clearly this is DLC oriented, but i fear that EA might have gone the "Destiny" road, expecting to make a very empty game and then sell lots of small packs for big money during several years. And if they do it, it`s possible that they won`t be able to deliver enough content for this game to feel "complete" or at least "big"

To that end, Dice did a phenomenal job. After you get beyond that you start noticing the problems, weapons that are little discernible from each other, not being able to spawn on an aircraft (of which flying an x wing or tie was one of my biggest excitements for the game, the simple fact is it absolutely stinks to fly. Feels too arcady). Then you start seeing that the levelling system just to get a jump back takes a good 5 or so hours (level 13) and that the character customization and hands are little benefit and just some sideway glance perk. I returned it after playing prob around 5-10 hours of the beta and 4 of the full version. Point being, it lacks all of the things I was hoping for paying $80 bucks on a game to have. The other modes are nothing but fluff with Walker assault and the 4 maps in conquest style are interesting. Still, I'll save my money and get something else and wait for the price to drop. Expand

Look great but the new changes since the beta designed to improve gameplay have left it more unbalanced than ever. Maps are horrible and character/camouflage means there's always one side with a huge advantage regardless of the map you play. The new spawn mechanics just mean instead of dying immediately upon spawn you just get spawn camped since everyone now spawns in the same spot.Look great but the new changes since the beta designed to improve gameplay have left it more unbalanced than ever. It’s fun, really fun. Maybe just because it’s Star Wars? Maybe.
This game is really well optimized considering the quality of textures and amount of actions at the same time. Really good job DICE!
Loading times are reasonable. I thought this was going to be a problem but it wasn’t.
Game works like a charm and is glitch-free.

CONS: Cons come into place when you start being demanding on a AAA dev.
The game is a little too casual to my standards. Maybe it is meant to be played by everyone. If that was the case, they could have implemented a competitive mode to add recoil, stand still to aim better, stamina cost, grenade quantity limits, etc., to make the game more difficult and less chaotic.
Yes, chaotic. The main problem i find is that you die randomly from grenades thrown everywhere or even terrible spawn points. These need a fix ASAP. I died countless times because i spawned infront of enemies.
Some turrets need to be nerfed down a little, these are way too OP and can get you killed with just one shot. Maybe they could be slow to move or have less rate of fire.
Maybe it’s because i didn’t spend too many hours playing but some maps are quite confusing. Endor for example is awesome but i feel like sometimes i spawn in random places and as soon as i realize where to go, the control point is lost. A mini map could be included and spawn points must be fixed.
Dogfights are satisfying but i feel that there are too many enemy fighters and ground infantry that get you locked at the same. Controls are just awful. Seriously, who steers with right stick?

This game can be fixed and i hope they do it. It’s so beautiful that it would be a pity not to do it.
If you are a huge SW fan, buy it. If not that much and you are an FPS lover then doesn’t buy it. It’s too casual and it doesn’t offer a really big challenge to be honest.

Yes, a singleplayer campaign would be cool but I don't think that is the main issue with the game at all. The game itself is where it falls short.

The gunplay needs much more depth. It's just too simple. The only modifiers to the guns effectiveness is reduced damage at range, to the point where if you want to to long or even medium range shooting you have to use the sniper cards. At close range most guns will kill in a few hits, at longer ranges head shots will do around 10% HP.

I don't know why this is.

The other main issue I have with it is the random spawns. This game is called Battlefront, but there is no actual battle front if you know what I mean. You can clear an area only to have the enemy team randomly spawn behind you and the whole thing ends up feeling very spy-vs-spy.

I really hate the direction they chose with picking up powerups off the ground. The vehicle controls are abhorrent. Strangely it seems like the targetting reticle is not actually zero'd at certain angles/ranges for nearly every vehicle. In turrets, the AT-ST, or AT-AT I would sometimes have to put the reticle well above an enemy's model to actually hit them close up or at some angles.

I am generally pretty above average at the games I play, and my Origin profile gave me a 3.24 KDR on Battlefront before I refunded, but the game still felt very much like a spawn-and-die affair. Even with the quickly regenerating health, your shelf-life as a trooper seems like it's always going to be pretty damn short. It just feels like a McDonalds kind of gaming experience. There just doesn't seem like a lot of room for tactics and strategy, like the game was designed to keep the skill ceiling low to the floor.

I think it's fine to appeal to casuals but I believe every successful MP game needs to be competitive to have any longevity. Why couldn't we have the current battlefront in a casual mode and then a hardcore mode with more in-depth mechanics to appeal to the competitive crowd? It's not for lack of interest, the most popular games are always competitive and e-sport like. Even if you don't like competitive MP you can't deny that.

Even with its current simplified mechanics, if vehicles spawned on the ground, powerups removed, classes introduced into the game and the spawn system completely revamped to eliminate the spy-vs-spy spawning, supremacy and walker assault would be far superior.

The other modes are extremely lacking though. Most of them are way too similar to offer any real value. Heroes vs Villains could have been cool, but in my opinion why is half the team made up of essentially fodder for the heroes? It's like playing that mode you have to take turns on having fun at all. You can't just play a hero. A whole new meta game could have came out of this mode but it the effort was a pretty big fumble. There is a lot of potential to make the heros have a lot of depth and a hero vs villains mode being very fun to play, perhaps even something along the lines of a MOBA, but it falls really short. The saber mechanics are pitiful and pretty much just end in one saber hero trying to stun-lock the other through spamming. The gunning heros are far better though and Boba Fett is really fun to play. Dice could have really expanded on this but again missed the boat.

So to sum it up, this game should have been designed both around the competitive multiplayer and casual crowd instead of just a theme-park Star Wars shooter that gets old in a few hours. This game is salvagable in my opinion with a large patch that could revamp the controls, spawns, vehicles, weapon attributes, etc - but we all know that will never happen.

So what we're left with is a lot of really pretty Star Wars assets that will probably end up in another game at some point. Maybe then us detractors will get something we want to play.

This game is one giant missed opportunity. Dice threw in some pretty graphics, skinner box mechanics, and a little social engineering in the hopes of crafting EA a new money tree with the Star Wars name. That's all this is.

    Cons:

    - Map design is liner and bland
    - Weapons lack variety and all feel the same
    - Ability cards are for the most part useless (out side of one or two)
    - No Co-op / multilayer vehicles
    - Complete lack of game modes
    - Complete lack of maps
    - Few vehicles to chose from
    - Terrible vehicle controls
    - No space battles
    - No galactic conquest

    - NO SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN FORM A MULTI MILLION DOLLAR GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    - No single player campaign
    - No single player campaign
    - No single player campaign
    - Why no single player campaign???? WHY???????/

No for the real review. This will mostly be elaborating on the points above. To start with the game looks and sounds stunning but that cannot save the CORE GAME FROM BEING LESS THAN AVERAGE. Unfortunately the game itself is far less than average. There are many reasons for this a few are listed above. To start with the problems of this game the shooting mechanics are THE worst I have played with this year. This is due to all weapons having little to no recoil at all (And I am well aware that the guns shoot lasers not bullets) but even with the guns shooting lasers Fallout 4 and halo 5 manage to make laser weapons very satisfying to shoot and also require skill to shoot. The guns also lack punch and also eliminate impact because of it. This makes it feel like a weak spit ball killed the enemy not a futuristic laser weapon form STAR WARS.

While on the topic of game mechanics the vehicles feel like sliding an ice cube over a bathroom tile. In short the vehicles feel terrible at best. This is also true for air vehicles. They are tedious to control and just a pain to find some meaningless coin on the map that FORCES you to deploy a vehicle at what possibly could be an inopportune time if you want to use one. That brings me to my next point the "pick up" system in the game makes you run around the map scavenging for one of these god forsaken things only for you to be killed while your deploying one.

The next considerable problem is campers and Oh boy there are a LOT of them in this game. Not only do campers make the game un-fun but also hurts the player base potentially turning some people of the game completely. Another issue to consider is the games life span (I'm predicting not very long). The game lacks variety and only has a hand full of "fun" modes. This will most likely lead to a considerable portion of the player base drop in less than a month. To be completely frank I think peoples hype will ware off and people will see what a lazy cash in excuse of a AAA game this is. Unfortunately this is just a lazy attempt by DICE (who are also to blame) and EA just a SAME FULL DISPLAY. Spend your money on fallout 4, whitcher 3 or MGS V instead not only do you get a single player you also get a good bloody game.

I was waiting on this game ever since BF 2, as a child. If you want to earn my money and me as a customer, make a full campaign with story driven conquest batles like before. Also, i forgot to mention that maps are literally tiny and disconnected, it's nothing like the old games. An example would be using battlefield, imagine if battlefield were taken and the maps were cut down by 75% compared to the old ones you played. Do not Buy, last warning. If you don't believe me, try it yourself, hopefully you enjoy it, however i doubt anyone true will enjoy it..

0/10 - No I will not give it a 1/10 simply because of the graphics, many games have beautiful graphics.

SWTOR space combat on rails handled better than the Battlefront aerial fighters on km or joystick.. etc, etc..

And yet, after these negative comments.. these users go on to give the game a 10/10..

While I agree that this game is limited for a $60 purchase it should be considered that as a shooter it is a great experience. It brings that arcade style feel to shooters and stays true to the Star Wars universe with amazing atmosphere, sound and visuals, it is worth more than a 5 purely on those factors.

It's definitely not perfect as there isn't enough content initially to warrant its price tag and with expensive DLC it will definitely be hard to justify buying it for someone who wants a great package for 60 bucks.

Overall I think any FPS lover will love this game and It's definitely worth trying out.

Whenever an EA game has no reviews at launch, it's already a bad sign. Consider the fact that EA is milking players with early access garbage and you KNOW it's a cash grab. This game is rushed to the market right before the next Star Wars movie comes out.

Star Wars Battlefront sullies the name of another classic game. I wish EA would stop "reviving" classics. Please.

The rest is unfortunately mediocre at best. Let's start with the obvious in that there is no single player campaign or Galactic Conquest, and prequel content is made to sit on the sidelines this time. This means that genuinely cool planets and heroes can't be included because DICE and EA have either limited themselves or been limited by Disney.

Gunplay is bland, with little to no recoil. Vehicles are clunky and hard to control on some maps (of which there are disappointingly few), and there are only three heroes per faction. Overall, I am disappointed by this game.

One last thing I forgot was that it was promised there would be no DLC, and then now there's a 50 dollar Season Pass. Knocking a couple points off for that one.

Fortunately, we were able to return the game, but we spent plenty of time and both of us had the exact same feelings of Battlefront: it looks great, sounds great but loses its appeal within a few hours because you experience EVERYTHING this game has to offer. No unlocked weapons or tricks will change that. Even when I rolled a team by going 48-6 and my team crushing the opposition, I wasn't ever loving the experience. The best moments for me came in Endor - the best planet to play on by far because of its dense forest play that doesn't force you into paths (it's more like the Battlefield free roaming feel). Still, nothing can save this game without adding a ton of content. Sadly, the DLC is $50 for a season pass and only brings new planets and maps plus a couple weapons. What EA needs to do is add even more, but I don't see this as being a big seller because even Star Wars fans aren't wanting anything to do with it after an entire day of playing it. The only reason I gave this a rating of 4 and not lower is because they nailed the graphics and sound that are spectacular but lets all remember that GAMEPLAY is paramount and Star Wars Battlefront suffers severely in this area.

"Single Player" is practically non existent and have very limited appeal for people other than trophy hunters and shouldn't even really be labelled as single player content, since the previous battlefront games all had emphasis on playing the core maps with AI - a feature that made the series famous and was the heart of game - sadly Dice opted for the forced online method so unless you plan playing on forced EA servers against the worst scum and villainy online.

The 'core' game is based on purely online modes only, with the 9 maps offering somewhat limited replayability and highly frustrating balance issues, even issues that appeared in the beta haven't really been addressed. The biggest and best reason not to buy Battlefront is that just one - repeat ONE single hacker can ruin the entire experience of the game, and hacking is already a major problem and fairfight alone isn't enough to catch all of them, especially the more seasoned and subtle hackers - whilst it'll still ban the more obvious ones it'll still ruin the game experience.

Also, lets not forget the outrageously overpriced season pass at $50 - EA this isn't okay and I hope this backfires.

The biggest problem to this game is the lack of meaningful counterplay. You die because someone shoots you from behind, or you get orbital striked, or you get an entire team of potatoes.

The 'weapon feel' is also frustrating -- sometimes your weapons feel incredibly effective, and other times, they can't seem to hit a damn thing.

The character customization is a cheap tactic. The heads are just copied between rebel and empire. There is only 3 full body armor customization selections for Empire. You get maybe 50 human heads and 3 aliens on Rebels. You get 50 human heads and 3 different stormtroopers on Empire. I would have loved more variants of the Stormtrooper armor. Not just heads used from the Rebel side.

I, however, think this game is a refreshing addition to world of online shooters. The presentation of this game is immaculate, and the graphics and sound are dead on. The game is designed to be a pick up and play game. A game to let loose. Reminds me of the days spent on N64 playing Golden Eye. Frantic fun without the headaches of being overly complex.

The weapon choice is limited, and customization is limited to "Hands" and blaster choice - but so what? It's nice to have a game that doesn't force me to stress over an overly thought out loadout. The Cosmetic choice is also limited, but really I see no real need to be overly concerned with that in a FPS game in the Star Wars Universe.

I will mention that, for what you get initially, the price is the biggest drawback of Battlefront. The season pass is ridiculously priced, but we are likely going to see prices trend this way. Knowing that the developer is DICE, I'm fairly confident that the DLC will be worthy of the price - and that updates should be plentiful.

Is this game perfect? No. Is it fun? Yes. Star Wars fans and online multiplayer fans should really consider trying this one out. It isn't very deep, but in its own way, it's extremely enjoyable.

Personally, I give it a 8/10 since I love the gameplay, atmosphere and the game modes very much. It's true it's not deep like BF4 or even COD or HALO in some ways, but I love it - It's the Star Wars game I've always wanted. I really would compare this to Goldeneye on N64 - as it is more about characters and match modes than customization. The DLC is not priced very well, I admit it. But I've spent MORE money on games that have brought me less enjoyment thus far.

I'm crying now because I waited a direct sequel to "Battlefront 2" for long ten years and now I get this extremely repetitive mercenary game for me as a fan is abusive pay that price for that content of **** DICE seems that you are not the same that created Battlefield 2142, Battlefield 2. In my opinion DICE died.

If by any chance some of you are going to read this, please, take it seriously, because it will not only increase players' enjoyment of your games, but will also bring financial benefit to you guys through increasing the game's replayability and longevity with no (or very little amount of) extra work or resources.
So, I, like literally millions of people worldwide, love Star Wars. And obviously I will be inclined to consume (play, watch etc.) SW-themed entertainment products. As a typical situation, I come home from work and want to spend a couple of hours playing a SW-game. I want to get immersed into this galaxy, roleplay, really feel that I am a rebel/imperial soldier/Force-user in the Galaxy far far away - in other words have a good old nerdy fun. I may also want to play a competitive game against other people once in a while, but those two sorts of fun are to a large extent mutually exclusive, at least for me. I get it from the backlash of a part of the players, that it is not only my sentiment.
What I get with this game is a comlete lack of immersion. Yes, the graphics are great, the models authentic, the sound (which I cannot enjoy fully due to EA local language limitations) awesome, etc. But how in the world I can appreciate and truly take a moment to enjoy being a freaking Luke Skywalker or riding an AT-ST if I always have to rush somwhere - to capture bases, to kill or to not get killed, not to let my team down.. How can I roleplay if I see a mindless mob of players running around (no disrespect fellow players, I am one of the mindless mob myself - it is quite difficult to coordinate attacks without any in-game means of doing so), jumping, crouching in most unsuitable places - all in all, being PLAYERS and not a part of the living SW Galaxy. This affects immersion in a major way, and thus devaluates the SW component of the game. What is the use of it if I am unable to enjoy my favourite universe in the way I like?
I understand that people might say, that this is a multiplayer game and my complaints are pointless because I am simply not a part of its target audience. Perhaps they are right. But this is what I would like to make an emphasis on - why artificially limit your target audience when it could be broadened without significant extra work whatsoever? Why didn't EA simply make all those beautiful multiplayer maps playable in a single player mode with BOTS? Perhaps they are not as deadly as human players, but so what, it worked out for a lot of people in the first two games. Why couldn't it be implemented now? I just don't get it. With such game mode and the Galactic Conquest EA could feed me with their overpriced DLCs to the rest of my days, I would have bought all their little pistols, Han Solo panties and Leia's haircuts.
Without these modes, it is simply another FPS. Yes I will play it a couple of evenings just out of curiousity and love for Star Wars, but no more than that. it saddens me so much that developers just waist the potential presented by such a rich universe and such popular and successful games as battlefornt I and II.
And it is even more sad considering that the enourmous work and love for SW that had been put into making this game is clearly visible. This is why I am not going to give the game a very low rating. It is not a bad game - it is just made for fans of competitive multiplayer games. And it is clearly for these players to judge the game's other faults, like oversimplified gunplay, shallow gamemodes or its repetitive nature.

As for me, I would be happy with an extended single player mode - i.e. the ability to play with bots on multiplayer maps. And perhaps some more heroes (where the hell is Obi-Wan?).

    And space fights..

And Clone Wars era... ok, just kidding here

    Not really.

tl;dr: the EA are putting themselves in a tough position trying to find their fanbase in an overlapping of two sets of players - those who enjoy Star Wars, and those who enjoy multiplayer games exclusively. Not a game for a guy who likes to have his Star Wars fun in a single player.

Just like Titanfall or vanilla Destiny, some of the pieces here are fantastic. But the content leaves something to be desired. If you have a limited budget, spend your $60 on a game that deserves it - like Fallout 4 or Witcher 3.

Star Wars Battlefront is a monumental disappointment from DICE that lacks any long term appeal, is desperately lacking in content and is completely overpriced. It is another cash-grab from EA of a massive brand which has been executed in shambolic fashion. It feels like nothing more than a Battlefield Hardline reskin and will probably die just as quick.

Battlefront promised so much but gamers have been left with a content-starved title that consists of a few bland and barren maps, a selection of uninspiring modes and very mediocre combat mechanics. The game looks reasonable at times but the lack of substance and a grand experience especially when compared to Battlefield 4 as of now makes this product feel utterly pointless even for die-hard Star Wars fans. Regular FPS fanatics will feel short-changed at what's on offer as after just a few hours of play; you've seen everything this game has to offer.

The most unforgivable aspect of Battlefront is the lack of a campaign or Story. This should have been a mandatory inclusion but has ultimately rendered the game a missed opportunity and just inflates the fact that this is nothing more than DICE and EA grabbing cash to satisfy their shareholders before the bumper year-end payoff. As usual; the season pass will provide future content but you will be long bored before then as the game will be soundly removed from your hard drive and never to be touched again.

Star Wars and FPS fans should avoid at all costs as this is nothing more than a quick cash-in and an opportunity to milk a popular brand without delivering anything that constitutes to a satisfactory experience. The multiplayer is a shallow experience and the product itself falls considerably below standards in terms of quality and material. A huge insult to gamers, fans and the Star Wars brand alike. Pathetic showing from DICE and EA all round.

And story? SW Battlefronts are MP games from Star Wars. "Campaing" in SW B II wasn t normal campaing but normal MP maps with "story".

DICE: "We won't **** it up!"
Well DICE, ya done ****ed it up.
It's prettier than the old Battlefronts, but not as pretty as a 2015 PC game should be (my PC runs it maxed on 4K without issue - single 980Ti). It looks like Star Wars. It sounds like Star Wars. The beta should have been a good taste of what was to come, because the "full" game has barely any more variety (two new map types - oooh, aaah).

No campaign. No co-op. No space battles. On-rails vehicles and aircraft. Sickening! All features from previous titles in the same series, stripped for this dumbed-down cash-in from this once-great developer.

What an absolute waste of my money, my hype, and my time. This game and its execution make me so angry that I'm giving it a zero. At least pretend you care about gamers next time, DICE/EA/Disney. You are so far from the mark with this title that it makes my stomach turn.

You could unlock abilities for your team, new ships giving you more pieces on the chessboards, or new soldier classes to help give you the advantage over your opponent. Speaking of Character classes, remember you could be a sniper class or a explosives class or even an engineer? There were also countless other game modes to play a lot of them can be played on most of the maps. You could of even played as ewoks, wampas, geonosians, and even gungans. Those were good times...

But then I played Walker Assault (Main Multiplayer game-mode) and MAN! It is truly an incredible feeling to play as part of your team across the impeccably detailed maps blasting away at your opponents on foot or within a vehicle like an x-wing or AT-ST. I would pay the $100 merely for the walker assault game-mode, let alone all the others. I am a Star Wars fanboy, and I think that is who the game is targeted at. Being able to be part of Star Wars battles is really what makes it enjoyable for me, and I think the reason people are giving bad reviews is because
    a) They don't love Star Wars.
    OR
    b) They were expecting the game to be like previous versions of battlefront.

In short, if you love Star Wars, this is the game for you.

While the gameplay is indeed shoot and gun (as all the FPS are), you have a sh*t ton of ways to play it. I had played the Beta for 20 hours. I admit I got bored in the end, but thats what happens when you play the same map and same mode for 20h straight.. The full release though has yet to bore me. I have played for about 7 hours straight since midnight and I always had tremendous fun with it. There are some various glitches which I witnessed but they were not enough to stop the fun I was having, sometimes it only boosted it a little! So if you want to have a good time, buy the game!

Star Wars Battlefront looks and sounds great, and with Battlefield-class gameplay could have ruled the multiplayer galaxy. Unfortunately, at best OK-level, Battlefront-class gameplay is much too shallow to last long. And this is THE one license, which really needs a single player campaign. [Dec 2015]
