I gave this game 9 out of 10 points for 3 main reasons.

    3) The third is hatred, that generated this game. I suppose, it doesn't deserve that harsh attitude. I guess, the reason for that is the price and the lack of content without DLC. I really think that this product deserve better treatment.

    What I don't like:

    1) Battlefront chaos. Really, the gameplay is a mess. You are getting killed from behind, from the left, from he right.

    2) Balance is pretty bad. It's almost a rule that there are no equal games. 90% of the time one of the teams stomps another.

    3) To level up you need to grind really hard.

But anyway, this game gives such a profound Star Wars experience, that I recommend you to try it.

Solid shooter, and the sights and sounds are amazing. It really hits the Star Wars immersion unlike any game before. And while some criticize the DLC packs, they will be adding a lot of content. Remember Battlefield 4 at launch? Look at it now. This game will live on and continue to get better, patience padawans. DICE is committed to solidly supporting this game.

Yes, some of the game mode mechanics could have been sorted out better, but on the other hand, I find some details a vast improvement over Battlefield. In particular the fact that everyone and not only the top kill streak champions can get to experience bonus stuff like AT-ATs and airstrikes is great, as well as the fact that there is a lot of action around specific points on the map that decide over defeat or victory (rather than in Battlefield where one team is capturing one point while the other team is re-taking the other, and you basically run back and forth between points to take and retake). Battlefront feels much more like real battles with a mission, where everything hinges on whether you take that particular point or not. Also the concept of moving frontlines, especiallt in "Turning Point" is excellent. Good game, I enjoy it a lot more than Battlefield. And no, I'm not paid by EA. Expand

Do you rate it based on how successful it was in meeting your expectations? Do you score it on it's value to you personally considering how much you paid for it? Perhaps measure it by how innovative it is?

From the perspective of how well EA Dice achieves what it set out to do with Battlefront, how can anyone say that they came up with anything but all aces? The production value of this game is staggering. This labor of love (Peter Jackson's LOTR trilogy comes to mind) is an absolutely exquisite homage to everything Star Wars. There simply isn't anything that doesn't look and sound absolutely authentic. Seriously, this is stunning work by so many artists and designers. Kudos to EA Dice for their unbelievable attention to detail. 10/10 from this perspective.

Is it perfect? No. What is? Bugs? Check. Balance Issues? Sure. Missing content? Come the #$%@ on. This is Star Wars. 7 movies worth (just for starters) of story, characters and lore. Expecting all of that to be in a single game is ludicrous. Personally, I look forward to new DLC, and will evaluate each as an optional purchase as they are made available over the course of 2016. More content to come...and certainly fixes, improvements, and enhancements too. 7/10 here.

This is a game, like Star Wars itself, meant to be enjoyed by everyone that cares to be. From ages 8-80. Boys and girls. Moms and dads, sons and daughters. Everyone. First priority seems to have been authenticity. Second appears to have been accessibility. A tremendous effort toward making sure that anyone can pick up a controller or mouse and dive into the Star Wars universe for as long as they care to. 9/10 here.

I, for one, am thrilled to gift this game to my kids, new to the Star Wars world. What a wonderful box of toys to roll around in for awhile.

How does anyone give this effort less than a 5? Or a zero?

Anger, hate...vengeance. Truly the path to the dark side.

Let me start off by saying that I feel a lot of the negativity towards this game is simply people hopping on the usual band-waggon of 'this game sucks', and it's happened with Battlefront because of how popular the title is. I believe a lot of people will say something negative just to gather attention, and Battlefront is getting the brunt of it.

I've been playing this game since the day it launched, and I play it everyday. To sum it up, I think this is a really fun Star Wars game, and I'm so very glad that we got this over whatever else EA had planned before this was given first priority. I think Star Wars games in recent years have absolutely sucked, namely "The Force Unleashed" and that many games like it were made simply because the Star Wars label sells, so no thought was really needed to push out a money maker.

This is not the case with Star Wars Battlefront. You can tell that this game has care put into it the second you start playing, because it's stunning. I'll go down the list of positives and negatives.

The gun mechanics have been named 'too simple' by some, but they couldn't be more wrong. This isn't a call of duty title where if you aren't wall running then you aren't doing it right, and it's not like counter strike in the regards that you need to learn spray patterns. It's what shooters were when every title coming out was fun, it's not over-done. I think a lot of people are used to games being overfilled with features just to justify the fact that it's the ninth or tenth in the series, and they're blaming 'simplicity' on how washed out they are. To be 'fun', the guns don't need a ridiculous recoil pattern or weird animations to give the effect of recoil, which was a major issue in games like Battlefield 4.

The graphics are absolutely stunning. I haven't heard anyone knock the graphics, and no one should be able to. I will say that I'm running the game on a Titan Black, but even if I had a lower end card I think I would be blown away. Endor in particular is like no forest I've ever played in before, it's absolutely beautiful.

The gadgets for the most part are fun, and not unnecessary. There's one gadget that really doesn't fit, the homing missile that locks onto infantry, but other than that they all lend themselves well to the game without breaking it. I think some things need balancing, like the ion homing rocket should have its range decreased, but that's about it. I have to admit that I love using the jet pack, it's fun and handy at the same time without being too much to handle.

The heroes are epic. Many people will complain about them being 'OP', but that's the point. If you're lucky enough to pick the hero coin up, you feel empowered like few other games make you feel, and depending on your skill you can have a lot of fun tearing up the enemy team as Luke, or blasting people left and right as Boba Fett.

I know a lot of people dislike the 'card' and 'coin' system, but honestly I think it works well. A major pain in FPS games is when even three people on your team are camping out vehicle spawns, and don't contribute at all to the rest of the game. It's frustrating as hell, and as uncool as it is to not be able to hop in a waiting x-wing and take off, it's much better as far as game mechanics go to use the coin system. I also think all of the pickups are well thought out, and nothing is game breaking.

Flying is pretty fun, but I think the A-wing needs a nerf. That or all the other vehicles need a buff. Seriously, the A-wing can decimate enemy vehicles while being the slipperiest craft in the sky. However, I don't spend a lot of time in the air, so I wont spend much time talking about it.

Content has been one of the biggest points of negative talk for this game. So much so that people are ignoring the fact that there even is a game, and they give it ridiculous low scores based on this one point alone. That's dumb. Look, I get it, EA is EA and yes, they probably could have put more in. I'm also disappointed that there's no conquest mode, but I would not base the entire game's score on it, like so many people are doing. This is a point that I will agree on though, and it's that EA is a greedy company that doesn't give a **** about their gamers. I think that they could have put more planets in the game, and I think that they're charging way too much for their 'season pass'. I think the idea of the pass is BS anyways, seeing as though they could adopt the micro-transaction marketing scheme, sell cosmetics for less while making loads more money, and then could offer the maps for free. That, or offer them for dirt cheap. Counter-Strike does it, Team Fortress does it, and look at the money Valve rakes in. EA however is a company for the share-holders, by the share-holders, and will continue to publish games this way, regardless of how talented their developers (like DICE) are.

Anyways, I'm heading back to the Battlefront, because I absolutely love this game.

    3) Quality Quality Quality. Graphics, Sound, Design, everything is top Notch A++++ very engaging, and true/authentic to the movies

    4) No Single Player. I couldn't disagree more with this point, the point of a "campaign" is to tell a story, but here's the thing, the original SW trilogy has already been told. So instead, we get iconic recreated single player scenes a.k.a "Missions" that perfectly allow you to replay these scenes. The speeder race level is as good as any campaign mission. I find them to be infinitely more entertaining than a contrived campaign.

And finally it's a "dice" game. If you like battlefield, you'll like battlefront. And of course the opposite is true. Do yourself a favor and give this game a chance, I really enjoy it, and am almost rank 40 in MP, and it has been the most fun leveling experience of any MP shooter I've played in recent years.

TLDR; DICE made this a great Star Wars game (10/10 infact) but EA has ruined it by restricting content so early bringing it down to 8/10 for me...

Okay, lets start with DICE who has done a great job DEVELOPING this game. Personally as far as a Star Wars game goes I'd consider this a 10/10 DICE perfected the Star Wars lore... as the game on a whole goes all things considered, 8/10.

Why? well while DICE delivered a great looking (the graphics are easily the best of 2015) and superbly crafted Star Wars experience, the shooting mechanics are great, though some weapons are overpowered as all hell. Which makes for some annoying moments in the game where you or your opponent can clean up an entire group with no effort, this can let gun play down a small amount.

Vehicles are a little let down, PC controls can be a challenge to get a hang of, but once you've got it down, you're going to town with them.

Game modes are... well.. out the 9 or so different game modes people only seem to play 3 of them more than the others (Supremacy, Walker Assault & Heroes VS Villains) all other game modes are virtually empty (from my experiences)

There is so much I could talk about for the most part DICE have made a great game... EA on the other hand, have taken full advantage of the Star Wars licence therefore butchering the game, seriously who sells a game for $89.99 AUD and then justifies a season pass for $59.99 AUD... I mean... that's just **** straight up ****.

It almost seems EA have choked DICE from adding more content so early, that's where the problem lies with this game, content is not there for the sake of EA making more money by adding it later on... Unfortunately it seems the only way to have a definitive experience with this, albeit amazing Star Wars game is to buy the season pass.

So for me personally these are the most pressing issues about the game and honestly its a great experience its fun, its gorgeous, it really isn't bad, its just EA ruined DICE'S rep by restricting content so early and adding a season pass for a BS amount of dollars.

Giving 0 for that game is just a sign of some kind of frustration. Either the game didn't meet your idealized expectations (because you wanted it to be a BF4 with StarWars skins), maybe you suck at it (those who said the gun play is shallow and arcade-like) or maybe because you are outraged by the EA's pricing policy. I can applaud to the last one, but it does not excuse the 0 score. JustGiving 0 for that game is just a sign of some kind of frustration. I can applaud to the last one, but it does not excuse the 0 score. Just for graphic, music, number of game modes and the 'feel' of the SW this game is worth solid 7. Let's address some of the most common negative comments then:
    1. Gun Play - People are complaining about the shallow gunplay - but you are shooting a laser. There is no bullet drop, there is no air resistance or gravity. This is exactly the way it should be. Of course these rays should be invisible if we are sticking to the reality, but this is SW reality, so they are visible. Also some complain about explosives being overused and laser fight is not that important. This is due to the fact they never spent much time with the game. On level 25th I don't use any explosives (apart Ion Torpedoes on some maps - but they are strictly AT). And that actually made my stats to soar up. Grenades are easy to dodge with the jet pack and mastering your favorite blaster is much more beneficial (alas not an easy task).
    2. No Single Player. This is just a lie. The single player is there. As well as simple co-op game. I suppose we will see more modes for them with the first DLC. However there is no story mode (which I never play anyway - especially with Dice games)
    3. Poor balance - This is the game which is by default unbalanced (especially the Walkers Mode), and thanks to that it doesn't feel like the generic shooter. Leaving alone the Walkers mode the unbalance is coming from the fact that empire have some vehicles, while rebels have only fighters. This is due the SW lore. On the other hand the storm troopers are not camouflaged in any way (apart of the snow maps where the shining whiteness is beneficial), while rebels are blending more with the background on all maps. This may not be a big difference for players which played for few hours but after 24 hours in the game you can feel the difference and actually I prefer to play the rebels. Also the feeling of imbalance may come from the fact that some players didn't play beta (or played it very shortly). Those who played it to the max had a terrific head start on the first few days.
    4. No customization. I'm a big fan of guns customization so some small additions would be nice (like light/sound suppressors for beams for example). However thanks to the arcade style of the gun fight it is not a necessary feat, especially that the skill cards are actually making up for it and I wouldn't be surprised if the beam suppression wouldn't come as a skill card with some DLC. Skin customization is not as important for me, however taking off the helmets from the stormtroopers seems daft. According to the Imperial Regulation no. 778 no trooper can take off his helmet during the action :P.
    5. No team play features. This is not a huge problem for me as my favorite game play is long range. But I think team of 4 would be better, especially for rebels in the walker assault mode.
    6. Not enough content. I think that creating these 4 worlds to the tiniest detail was a pretty good job, but additional 2 worlds would make that better. Fortunately they are coming free with the first DLC (for these who pre-ordered the game). 6 big maps + many mods will make it good enough for the price. I don't think additional weapon will make much difference, however some additional hand cards probably will let for some more customization of the gameplay style.
    7. The PRICE. It depends on you expectations. I played beta so I got exactly what I expected. Already more than 25 hours in the game, it payed for itself as I had a great fun.

In total - this is the game which is really easy to play but also really hard to master. It is the kind of the game I was missing from the library. Something you switch on to rest from your stressing job. It doesn't need as much thinking and planning as Arma or BF, no team expectation stress like in CS:GO. If I wanted a great single player mode, I would play Fallout 4. With Battlefront you just simply switch it on and kill foes. It makes it very casual, but so what? Games are played for the pleasure. And I still have all these other games if I wanted something else.
Normally I would give it a 9, but to fight the trolling I'll give it 10.

This game looks fantastic. Perhaps too fantastic, because it seems that all of that budget went into four painstakingly crafted maps, sounds and a flawlessly authentic visual style.
Honestly, this game's a case of quality over quantity. As it stands, game balance is rough. As with all dice titles at launch, content is sparse without DLC; it's enough to make me wonder why EA thought to

Honestly, this game's a case of quality over quantity. As it stands, game balance is rough. As with all dice titles at launch, content is sparse without DLC; it's enough to make me wonder why EA thought to push this lean game so early in holiday season, daring to compete with bloated monsters like fallout 4 and Black Ops.

The core gameplay remains immensely satisfying, a nice hybrid of battlefield metagame with punchy arena-like gun play that amplifies the addictive qualities of DICE's legacy games; it's almost enough to keep one hooked for a long time. Almost.
Were it not for the promise that battlefront offers and the knowledge that more content and patches are on the way, I would certainly be disappointed with my 60$ purchase; to be honest DICE has a history of botching launches, and EA has been trending towards DLC compartmentalization for years. Battlefront is just another tantalizing example of their collective legacy.

This is the ultimate Star Wars game. The presentation is perfect and it is a lot of fun. All those haters rating this game a 0 or 1 are idiots. They have been hating it since the first trailer. Do not listen to them.

I went in with very low expectations for anything other than visuals which looked amazing in the prerelease media. I also despise EA, yet here I am, giving them my money. The game is fantastic and is hopefully the base for a long term experience with the DLCs.

I'm about 20 hours in, roughly level 22 and the game is feeling a bit stale. The good news is that there are a ton of game modes

I'm about 20 hours in, roughly level 22 and the game is feeling a bit stale. The good news is that there are a ton of game modes with about 4 unique experiences. Run and gun team deathmatch, control nodes/flag, walker battle (64 player), and hero (where players assume the role of the characters from Star Wars).

I was disappointed with the walker battle maps. It's hard to understand what's going on and your XP earned comes to a crawl while playing these long, drawn out, heavily scripted battles. A proper Battlefield style 64 man open area map with vehicles would be a hit.

Upgrade system is a nice start and I hope it gets expanded upon future expansions. I

It's a beautiful, Star Wars based shooter plain and simple.

    8/10. Could be a 10 eventually.

I have purchased this game on PC and Xbox One and as you might have guessed with the username, I am a huge star wars fan. Now lets address some of the initial criticisms. Now lets address some of the initial criticisms. This game is multiplayer only. This follows the fine tradition of games like 1942. The focus has always been multiplayer and that is what separated the Battlefield series from COD. In just about every review I have seen it points out its multiplayer, so if you are surprised by this, then maybe you need to do your homework before making that all important purchase. I initially played this on Xbox One but I have to say compared to the PC its a very different experience. The PC version looks absolutely incredible. The Endor mission is just amazing and Hoth looks great too. The game really has the great look and feel of Star Wars and the maps are really well balanced which brings us to the real challenge of the game. A lot of people have complained the game is short of content. If you look at some of the best multiplayer games, they have had a few maps which have then been built on, but for me EA has done what EA does. It has maximised its product and so are going to kill you in the pocket by adding the rest of the game through downloadable content. Having worked in the industry for 8 years, I realise a company has to make its money, but this is why the game isn't getting a higher score. There should have been additional maps and I think that held back some of the reviews. However put that to one side and I genuinely think the game is a hell of lot of fun. You need to past a lot of the reviews because I don't the scores add up and are basically reactionary ranting. Be objective in your review! EA do really need to review their content structuring, but don't let that put you off as this really is a great game and sets itself aside from the COD generation. Expand

If you want a game to play casually, in a beautifully and authentically created star wars universe, THIS IS FOR YOU. If you want hardcore and competitive multiplayer, look elsewhere. And If you want an in depth single player experience...why the hell would you get this game, they said from the beginning this was only multiplayer.

A perfect game for short sessions. It’s not deep enough to convince online shooters veterans, but it will definitely win over Star Wars fans. [01/2016, p.34]

Star Wars Battlefront looks and sounds great, and with Battlefield-class gameplay could have ruled the multiplayer galaxy. Unfortunately, at best OK-level, Battlefront-class gameplay is much too shallow to last long. And this is THE one license, which really needs a single player campaign. [Dec 2015]

Any semblance of subtlety is abandoned entirely when it comes to the playable Hero and Villain characters. [Jan 2016, p.110]
