I'm glad I cancelled my pre order and saved $30 getting it via a key site, however i still feel ripped off for what has been delivered. Wait for a sale, it will be interesting to see if anyone's still playing by the time the disgustingly priced season pass content starts rolling out.

Sorry in advance but this review is going to be really blunt and I'm not going to sugar coat anything.

This game is a pure and utter zergfest. Expect to get raped over and over by people with all the unlocks and super weapons (like the one you can get instantly if you fork over for the Digital Deluxe edition), grenade spam and by people playing as the heroes. And the spawn killing.

And the spawn killing. My god. Spawn. Die. Spawn, two steps, die. People have learned the spawn points and know exactly where to camp to kill you as soon as you spawn. WTF? Whoever designed the spawn system for this game deserves to be flogged with a length of CAT-5 cable and dipped into iodine.

I give it a 2/10 for graphics and sound. Everything else about this game SUCKS. Most of the game modes aren't worth playing and are dead. Walker assault is pretty much the only game mode that people seem to bother with. Also, it feels like few people are playing the game anymore because you seem to run into the same people over and over if you can force yourself to play a few games without punching the monitor.

This game is EASILY the worst money I've ever spent on a video game, except maybe Evolve or the founder pack for ArcheAge (TRION is actually worse than EA, but it's damn close). It is not even worth half of the sticker price and the DLC should be free as an apology for shipping a half-finished game.

Barely a month after release and EA is selling it for 33% off in their store. Yeah. Even they know it sucks.

Warning: Do NOT buy this game from anyone other than EA directly via Origin or you will not be covered by their "Great Games" return policy and will not be able to get a refund.

DICE has become a company that just makes pretty things that doesnt work - in their whole lifetime there will be **** that doesnt work like you could expect from a fullpriced AAA title. Hit detection was the major problem in their previous games on this engine, as of now its more like the whole thing - the aparently spend so much time on graphics and sound that everything else is rushed or left out. This game is an insult to Star Wars fans everywhere.

In modes with turrets and vehicles you are just cannon fodder - you instant-die from whatever those things fire at you. On top of that they have area damage and they are hard to destroy - so if you get a good score it means you are either in a vehicle, a turret or you became an unstoppable super unbalanced overpowered hero.
Gamemodes without vehicles are much better to play, but again - the unbalance comes off right away. The higher level guns you have unlocked the easier your killstreaks will become.

After a single day I have been having trouble even bothering to doubleclick my icon. Which in my book is a clear indication that a game has failed bigtime.

Huge disappointment with this game. I created a metacritic account just to give this game a poor review. To begin, forget everything you loved and knew about the first two games in the series because EA and DICE sure did. Nothing correlates between the first two games and this one outside of the name they share. No Galactic Conquest, No Instant Action, No amazing bot modes, No CloneHuge disappointment with this game. Oh yea, and if you love single player, you're out of luck. You will be given only 2 game modes (3 if you want to count the survival wave-based mode). Unfortunately, both of these two game modes suck. Additionally, there is no campaign (which isn't terrible to me since many people loved Battlefront 2 and didn't even realize it had a campaign). However, if you want to play any game mode that is worth a damn, you'll have to try online multiplayer, which I believe ultimately destroys the game over time as many people wont be playing in 10+ years or the servers will be down.

As far as the multiplayer goes, if you're a casual gamer you probably wont have much fun here. You die in about 3-5 hits, which is average for most FPS games these days. If you are new to the game, you are at a huge disadvantage since players who have played longer have accumulated better equipment. Additionally, game modes last either way too long or way too short. In Hero's Vs. Villains you are stuck playing the same hero or villain for half of the rounds. The other half you play as a grunt. Which is stupid. I want to play as a Hero as the game advertises for the full time, not half the time. Stupid. Playing as a grunt almost all but guarantees you're not going to have a good time fighting these OP classical heroes and villains. And these rounds only last one minute.

I could go on and on about ways this game has missed the mark. So instead of doing that, I will list the positives.

    1. Graphics are great
    2. Sound is great
    3. Tutorial Mode is ok
    4. Offline splitscreen capabilities in those two **** modes.

Unfortunately this is where the list of pros stops. All EA had to do to guarantee success is take the old game and update the graphics. How do you screw that up? Oh, by pretending they didn't exist. Great job EA. Refund please

    Dear EA,
Ever since I heard about this game I have been excited, it was time for another Star Wars Battlefront game. Unfortunately that never happened. Dear EA,
Ever since I heard about this game I have been excited, it was time for another Star Wars Battlefront game. Unfortunately that never happened. StarWars Battlefront be Ea is by no means an awful game, it simply boils down to the lack of content, a pathetic minimum of what it could be. The bottom-line is that EA has to change. No more DLC bull crap.

Firstly the maps that they do offer are terribly small, and cluttered. One map rises above the rest, the Jawa Retreat not only is it boring there's crap everywhere simply put there for aesthetic purposes. Another terrible one is Endor. Half the time I can just barely see what I'm doing, and the other half I get killed by another player because the radar only shows a vague general direction of where the enemies are. However since most maps are small, EA put in lots of detail like frost crystals in snow caves and the sort. The only map that bears some resembles to familiar territory is The Battle of Jakku, which of course is DLC. Its large an open with many nooks and crannies to hind in and the wreckage of the Empires fleet tells a story in itself.

Secondly there's 11 primary guns in the game. Only 11 which is pretty pathetic. However you could argue that Star wars Battlefront 2 only had like 8 or so for each Faction but, that amounted to 4x8= 32. 32 separate lookouts. In EA's version there is 11 guns which require a rank to unlock, and credits to buy. EA also implemented "STARCARDS" which are basically secondary abilities/weapons like grenades, pistols, anti vehicle weaponry that cant be used on infantry so mid battle your basically a sitting duck, more guns like a bow casters and long distance weaponry that is extremely cumbersome to use, weapon modifiers like faster cool down and charged shots that does more damage, and of course the jetpack. If I was making the game, and only had 11 weapons I would do the obvious and allow customizations, it still would not make up for the lack of weaponry, but it would at least be something. It would also fit the theme of Star Wars quite well. But alas what idiots EA are they gave us 11 guns like pocket change given to the homeless.

Thirdly the "power up" system. There are many problems with it, firstly I'm all for the idea of the power up system. EA's Star wars Battlefront favors high rank players which can kill others in like 3 shots a rank up massive scores and allowing them to become Jedi would be unfair. However it is poorly executed, and rushed beyond believe. There is actually 1 power up that can prevent you from obtaining more. Its called card refresh and is for player that have more than three Cards to equip, but if your just starting out your basically screwed because there is no option to let the ability expire and you can not use it if you don't have 3 starcards. Another grippe is the piloting feature, flying is floaty and unresponsive and takes time to adjust to its slow controls.

Finally game mechanics are quite terrible. First and foremost its Battlefront not a field. And more players we should be expecting 128+ players a game, but some of the 10~12 game modes only have 8 players per team! My God what is this, a free app game? Following that there is only 10~12 game modes, granted that most people will just play blast (team death match) supremacy (capture the flag/secure all the checkpoints) and turning point which came with the DLC, but at least acknowledge the wide and diverse modes players can enjoy. Also after playing the game yes there is very few maps/ planets, and no Space Battles, a sore and bitter disappointment. And as most know basically no single player or Campaign.

All in all what it boils down to is lack of content. EA already has a Season pass DLC which add like another half of the game for 50 dollars. EA if your reading this I highly, highly recommend that you change your ways and make it free. Otherwise no one will buy Star Wars battlefront, because of the critical issues I have mentioned here. I you make the DLC free, modify some smaller maps, add more game modes, a single player campaign, more heroes and guns, and generally make it more like Star Wars Battlefront and less Battlefieldy, then you will see the impressive sales you'd expect for a Star Wars game. Otherwise this game is nothing more than a hollow shell of what could have been a great successor to the original games.

So in conclusion I stand by my 3 Stars, and the only way this game will sell is if players and the global community of people who bought this came boycott the $50 dollar DLC and show that EA does not have the right to release such a disappointing game that literally stains Star Wars. So, boycott the DLC don't buy it, ever just don't do it if enough people don't buy it then we might see some changes. **** EA and **** there DLC and greed money swallowing Season Pass DLC

They have several different versions of a capture and hold type game mode that I can barely tell apart. It's cool that you can randomly find a hero hologram and be Luke or Vader in the game... Except it happens ALL THE TIME and it just isn't cool anymore! I imagine Luke Skywalker had better things to do than to be showing up (and dying) in every minor battle happening across the galaxy. I think those Heroes showing up should be very rare. I like the idea of being a rebel grunt. I don't need to be Han Solo every five seconds. The flying also lacks imagination. They chose to use a 3rd person view instead of throwing you inside the cockpit of an X-Wing which sucks. Oh you can choose to fly from the cockpit but you will die immediately. 3rd person flying gives you a definite advantage. Some of the maps are also rather small and I keep running into this Call of Duty effect where I spawn, run ten feet, fire on the enemy in front of me, and then get shot in the back.

I feel like EA has produced a beautiful game with great in-game sound and a nice usage of original Star Wars music that enhances gameplay. I think they haven't thought about or asked enough people like me how they can get people addicted. I think the answer is simple. Immerse the gamer in the Star Wars world. Right now it's just another first person shooter that happens to have lasers instead of bullets. Instead of the tired old capture and hold have the rebels objective be a two or three part plan.

What if the mission was to take over enemy communication posts and/or a hangar on a planet so you could attack an alternate dark side spawn point (an orbiting Imperial Battleship) unannounced, and in their imperial cargo ship? Land the ship and take your whole team in to try and attach explosives to the main power station causing the whole thing to blow to smithereens. This would be a great time to have some help from a Hero. At the climax of the match. If you only took the planet based hanger your trip to the battleship will be expected and the final battle inside the hangar bay of a battleship would be so intense. If you don't know Titan mode from Battlefield 2142, look it up. It's similar to this idea and ******* addicting.

What if the Imperial Storm Troopers were tasked with storming a Rebel outpost? I'm talking Santa Anna's army storming the Alamo. Some 300 type action. The deck stacked against the Rebel's but even if you lose the match your kill count is going to be outrageous!

I like these ideas because they are mine. You can hate them and that's fine. All I am saying is to use some damn imagination. The movies and books in the Star Wars line are oozing with creativity and currently this game has very little.

I can't imagine I am going to be the first person to contact EA about this. I will send them this review and I hope their reaction isn't to ignore it. The worst part about this is that I spent $59 on the game and I have trouble finding full matches to join. It's sad.

However, that's where the enjoyment stops. They've basically turned Battlefront into Call of Duty with this release with no ammo management and respawning "power ups". Vehicles are completely random, so no way to control the battle. Random spawns instead of tactical spawns. You can spawn on a randomly assigned or grouped up buddy (pre game), but no squads. No combat lines, everything is blurred. Get ready for some spawn kills. Games aren't balanced to put levels close to each other; so you might spawn in front of someone with high level at starting levels and so on.

Not a lot of fun once you get past how pretty it looks. Controls are all over the place and not well tuned for PC gamers. You have to spend a lot of time trying to make sure the controls respond correctly to your mouse sensitivity or you might be moving so quick in a vehicle that you can't really do anything productive.

Hate to rate this so low, but its just not a good entertaining game past the first 15 minutes of play. The solo missions are pretty shallow. The multiplayer is a COD fest.

If you like COD, you might like this game. I stopped playing COD a very long time ago because I didn't like the style. Too bad I can't get a refund on this game.

I mean - no campaign - come on. That would be forgiveable if the multiplayer aspect was very sophisticated, but it isn't....

The shortage of maps (only 4 maps on large multiplayer modes) makes multiplayer get repetitive very fast.

Perhaps the biggest problem though is the lack of depth in the area of multiplayer teamwork. You can't be part of a squad, just a partnership. And even that is broken in that you often randomly get "unpartnered" and there is no way to repartner with someone. Where are the squads? But most of all, where are the varied roles? I want to play a medic, or an engineer, and yes, sometimes even a sniper, but none of that is possible because there is only one role available here.

Maybe they'll add some of this later, but right now it feels half finished.

I get that they want to make it as accessible as possible, but there are ways to add depth of gameplay without scaring off newbies.

I've only had this game a few days and already I simply am not compelled to log in and play. What's the point?

Balance is very bad, which is a trait EA's past few shooters have. Matchmaking is the worst. COD does matchmaking better. It's always one team getting butt raped by the other. The fairness just doesn't seem to be there. There are nearly no fair matches. IA horrible experience. 90% of my deaths don't make sense. What else? SPAWNING. GOOD GOD BRO. SERIOUSLY. How hard is it to have a decent spawn system? It's like they don't even care. Half of my deaths in many games are from spawning right in front of an enemy.

Gameplay is horrific. I feel embarrassed for buying this game and I am VERY thankful I did not buy the expansion pack. That's some money I'm happy I have saved.

Graphics are great tho! That's it! Everything else is horrible.

This game, as it stands, deserves a 4/10.
The game is repetetive, with very limited things to do.
The few maps this game ships with, are graphically very fleshed out and it looks and sounds good. But playing this game makes you feel that there is too little to do! Walker Assault is not balanced. There is not enough incentive for players to play objectives (MORE SCORE FOR PLAYING

EA-Games are greedy basterds that want us to play full price for a skeleton-game and then force us to buy additional content that should have been in the original game through DLC.

I played the demo and it was quite playable and certainly had the `starwars` feel to it,so when the game was released i went for the cheapest option £49.99 with the most expensive option being a massive £94.98!! what a rip off.
i am already not a great fan of EA for ruining the C&C series ,all they are interested in is money which is clearly demonstrated by the £94.98 option.

The game is download only so you don't even get a disc or box so you couldn't give it away when you're bored of it.
Anyway to cut a long story short i played the game for 10 hours and it wasn't for me,very repetitive game play and you just know that EA will squeeze more money out of you with DLC so i got a refund which you have the right to do on Origin if you are not happy,so feel free to buy it and try it out for 23hrs then get a refund if you don't like it.
it looks and sounds great and certainly has a starwars feel as i said but it lacks that certain something and i wont be wasting my time on it.
As someone else mentioned it lacks space fights (there isn't any) but most of all DLC just p^&*$s me off so screw you EA ;)

This game is without a doubt , the most disappointing game of 2015 , not to mention that fans of the series waited 10 years for a sequel.

This is a shell of a game with no real depth , innovation or even enough content to be sold as a $60 game.
It is clear that the investors and producers put all their effort and money on the graphics , creating some of the best looking environments we've ever in a video game.
Problem is , that their forgot to work on the gameplay. As a DICE fan and a huge fan of the Battlefront series I must confess that this is their worst game yet.
Don't expect to get a Battlefield-like experience out of this , even I - being a huge STAR WARS nerd , often find myself getting frustrated when playing this game. It is mindless , repetitive , offers no variety or strategic gameplay.

The Singleplayer mode is a joke , badly designed with no replay value or enough content to keep you entertained. The Multiplayer is also very restricted when it comes to options , you can't even host or join other user-created servers , there's no VOIP in a 2015 game and only a couple of Game Modes are actually worth it.

This game should have had space to ground battles , clone wars , capital ships flying over your head , a dozen of planets (the game only offers 4) , intense vehicle combat (there is only 1 ground vehicle in the game).
It's like while they were developing this game , EA and DICE did a lot of coke and decided it was a good marketing idea to sell graphics with the 'Star Wars' Title and threw away everything that made Battlefield so awesome.

So , in conclusion , I give this game a 4/10 , as a Star Wars fan I could have given it an 8 but this is a freaking video game so if it doesn't pay well , it doesn't matter if you render the rocks perfectly.
Dear EA , in a day were people play Minecraft (the worst looking game) , you decided to spent all your budget on recreating rocks to a photorealistic level instead of just adding a few more maps and a proper campaign mode. Well done!

Thank you for reading , don't buy the game unless you're a huge star wars fan and don't know much about game design because if you do , you'll only get frustrated.

Which brings us to starwars battlefront....and my overly long incoherent ramble haha

This is a tough review as the galaxy really is divided as this is not a proper game or it was until it was rushed out unfinished or at worse intentionally released incomplete as part of an insipid cash grab.
I've never experience anything like this.
A potential great game stripped to the bones with mostly amazing sound and audio but then some insidious business model forced upon it.

    Research and costing
So I have read every critic review I could find about 20..and I have read about 100 user reviews and comments and forum posts before making my purchase.
I could not justify paying for a game so many argued were flawed knowing that it was without a single player campaign and knowing that that choice wasn't so they could make the best game they could...it was so they could make the best game they could in the allotted time frame.
I ended up trading in games to justify the cost and paying £25.

For £25 swbf is a good deal.
But not if you then have to pay for a psplus account.
I had a strong feeling I'd not be playing long so bought 1 month at £5.
So total cost £30....£30 is too much for this game.

No critic reviews talk about the actual, cost I the uk of this game.
If you want the complete game ...and I say that as the game has only a few recycled maps which get boring so quickly it's spooky that there is no way it could be described as complete.
sadly as is the case across the board from guns to vehicles to heroes and modes....there is a lack of everything and all of it is pretty samey.
So the complete package costs a terrifying £110 for game plus dlc that's like $150!!! And if you want to play 90% of the modes add another £ 40 for psplus...that's omg....£150... For a game which will, still have fewer everything than the previous instalment ...ten years prior....:-0
£150 and the game isn't perfect

    The business model
The business model is so awful and obvious that I would argue the game should be free.
Yes 100% free and then you purchase extra weapons! characters , emotes! junk etc. but not maps.
This dlc map cr@p will only divide an already divided community.
    Swbf is a divisive game.
It is aimed at fans but also casual newbies.
So we end up with half the players owning just the bare bones game becoming bored very quickly of the few maps and modes and the other half after paying a fortune being I'm guessing quite happy.
But still half of these will be unhappy that the game is very arcadey and simplistic lacking any real, depth or substance.
Why would dice and ea and Disney do this?
Why would they also not allow modding or much split screen or co op modes and an award friend a pairing system...why a lot of odd choices in this game?
Simply because they don't care and they have spent half the budget in marketing the game and tricking and lying people on what it looks like and how it plays.
The trailers are amazing....the game is nothing like that , not remotely which is a shame as it shows what the game could have been given a little more time and love.
The star cards system is a product of that system which screams micro transaction grooming and the random coin pickups shouts gambling. Everything you do in regards to gameplay and progression seems to be geared up to prepare a child for ea apps which are cash cows for a soulless company hell bent of ruining gaming.

    Graphics
What we do have is a game which looks pretty but still has a lot of pop up and jagged edges and few wow moments. The animations are plain and especially on the heroes. Everything looks similar and not quite good enough after seeing the trailer or those amazing stills.
I would say that the game doesn't look real it looks like the toys of the film in that it's all so ...sanitised.
Even the many scuffs look like a texture scuff afterthought.
The vehicles look off...they aren't as weighty as previous bad ass instalments like the rogue squadron series or even previous battlefronts which at times were notoriously floaty feeling but looked solid.
A good looking game though with little slow down and a pretty consistent frame rate.

    Sound
Music is perfect...it's starwars ! But it's often not appropriate for what you are doing...many soundtracks seem odd and there is often too much music when it be nice to have planet ambience.
The sound effects are great but rarely do,the guns make a sound which shocks or awes.
Run out of character lol Conclusion: buy next year or for less than £25. Prepare to be disappointed if you love games and or starwars. It is what it is...sadly it's all we have so if you need a fix buy it...but then trade it in a week later

But the funny thing is that exactly a Game like Battlefront EA ( It is not nearly worth the Battlefront Name) shows us how Publisher and Producers are looking down at us. The fact that they really thought that just good Graphics and nice sound is all we need.

The Game is way to easy, it is repetitive (only 4-6 maps, and not even for every Gamemode).
My experience so far was playing the Beta, being bored after 3-4 hours. Actually thinking they will add severel things at launch, and 20 hours after launch getting refunds.

Instead of making Space battles or even the fact that whole two factions are missing their work power
focused on the Diarama Mode or the very boring survival Coop Mode. (With an god awful AI. Try standing on an AT-ST and your are safe.)

I cant belive there are people defending this garbage of a Game. Out there are hundreds of way better Games for less. And that EA STILL hasnt learned from Games like NFS, Battlefield or Titanfall (yeah still exists) just shows us that they really dont care and just throw one dissapointing Game after another at us.
And people still pre-order and buy that stuff.

Well DICE. Learn from that please. Good Graphics and nostalgic Moments arent enough for a good Game.

It's just been over a month and the PC version has officially no longevity whatsoever compared to consoles with inferior graphics because of the poor matchmaking and server issues. P-stats numbers aside, one should not be having problems getting into a match of Supremacy, Turning Point, or even Blast... why don't DICE/EA learn from Activision or even Valve when it comes to making matches? I've already done port forwarding and went as far as using VPN's, but it's now impossible to get into a match that's even "5% FULL" only to be sucked into an "Empty Game" thinking no one wants to play this game anymore.

What really blew my mind tho is the fact that the game is so unbelievably unbalanced, up to the point where I consider it broken.
In Airbattles the rebell ships (especially the A-wing) are so ridiculesly overpowerd that everytime I play
them I end up in the Top 3 but as soon as I play the empire I have a hard time keepin my KDR above 1.
The Landbattles are even worse tho. The Bowcaster and the DL-44 (which makes the game basically pay to win since you get the best weapon in the game from the start if you bought the more expensive deluxe version) make up for 90% of my deaths and due to the BF4 like hit feedback in the game they usually feel like 1hit kills that are almost never preventable. So either you suffer through to level 25 to make the game somewhat fair and enjoyable or you you kneel before your god that is EA and pay the extra cahs OR what I recommend: dont buy in this **** until it is fixed (which is never because **** you thats why)

First the game could be better. It feels pretty shallow and overly simplified.
For instance if you compare it to the Battlefield series, those games had a lot more going for them.
More interesting weapons, vehicles, parts of the environment could be destroyed, and mainly better games that allowed some meaningful strategy, tactics, etc.
It's getting harder and harder to find games, people must be bored with it already (less then two months after opening).

Why I give it a negative because EA still refuses to do any sort of realistic anti-cheat control.
Currently after playing for one or two hours I run into at least two to three obvious cheats.
Losers that can see through walls and other obstructions, using ainbots, etc.
Recently cheaters coded a new exploit where they can shoot super burst shots that will kill your AT-ST in a single shot.

For EA/DICE security is an afterthought.
If EA really wants to catch and curtail the cheating they would have a full time anti-cheat team of their own instead of some off the shelf easily beat 3rd party system.
They could do real time server monitoring, and have a serious client side effort that could catch cheaters within an hour or two.

ALL of EA/DICE games have the same problem, but they choose to ignore it and pretend it doesn't happen instead.

I skipped most EA/DICE games since BC2, now I'm sorry I gave them another chance and I'm burned again.

this is defenitly a fat fat - for this game. No squads poor abillity to play with more than one friend.

2nd poor benefit system for PTFO
this is a very very teambased game. Most of the games you see a team camping and just going for kills. At the end screen of a match the dude with most kills is being showed and highlighted. IMO the game need to improve the award system in a manner that playing the objectives highly rewarded.

    3rd. Spawning is a nightmare-
you spawn miles away from action, getting back into action takes more time than santa needs to bring all presents to all kids worldwide. It is a pain especially for players that like to rush.

4th Handblasters as primary for regular troops WTH?
This is kinda looking dumb, regular troops have rifles not handblasters- i would go with it if they were secondary but then some need a heavy nerf. At least the DL44 is way to OP.

5th Airvehicles are a kinda nightmare
poor controls, no roling, autoaiming no flightstick support.

    6th Stormtroopers without helmets
now THAT is ridiculous and the heads are the same as the rebel ones.

overall i dont see a long term motivation to play the game. After playing of 2 hours you get tired and turn it off. It is not like BF in which you can easily play a whole day. Looking good is not enough for me. Im just glad i trusted myself and only bought the standard edition.

However, the experience is only surface deep. The only unique game mode present is Walker Assault while the rest at slight spins on already well established game modes. That isn't the root of the issue though. The game lacks serious depth in terms of community with no functions to facilitate it such as having the ability to create your own private clan/army/splinter cell. In addition to this the guns are wholly underwhelming and don't differentiate themselves from one another outside of differing fire rates. The fact that no true anti-air weapons exist is laughable to the point that the game promotes players to camp vehicle spawns in Walker Assault.

With everything being said the scores here don't matter. EA has fleeced me of my money once again. Perhaps this will be the defining moment when more of us begin to properly consider who is behind making the game instead of falling for pretty trailer in the future.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Star Wars Battlefront has an excellent game mechanic that is quick and exciting to play, and that is the end of the good features of this particular game. Unfortunately because the mechanic used in this rendition of battlefront is a copy pasta of its predecessor, and if copying something already done is your greatest merit you know all that remains is mediocrity. Battlefront is game that wants to be loved, but is deeply saddled with bad game design, from the surprisingly linearity of the maps to the various ability cards that simply frustrate players forcing newer players to be abused by those who have more free time. I didn't include the the lack of content in my score, but the price tag on this title was neither accurate or fair to its fans, but such is business and it not fair to judge the qualities of a game upon the business practices of their publisher.
What to expect when you the unfortunate sap(like myself) who bought this game experiences when playing Battlefront. You will notice immediately a distinctive disadvantage the Imperials have against the rebels in Walker Assault(Arguably the peak in content). If teams are balanced (which by the way no balancing system to speak of) the rebels WILL always win. In fact when you do win as the imperials there is almost a degree of pity because it often means the rebels are doing so poorly nobody is even sticking around to play. The air battles are underwhelming, as unbalanced as the game is on the ground, in the air the A-wing/X-wing rebel combo will easily without contest wreck the fight/interceptor ties. Imperial teams will often openly joke about "getting out the ion torpedoes" because there is no other means for the imperials to challenge the sky. Oh did I say "Ion torpedoes" well fun fact the AT-ST is only useful on 1 or 2 of the few existing maps where distinctive structures provide adequate cover, and that presuming the imperials haven't already lost the sky. Their newest content Turning point suffers from much of the same qualities, however in this case its horribly favorable to the Imperials. The only remotely balanced game type is Supremacy, identical to War in World at War, and its popularity is about equal and by that I mean non existent.
The smaller game modes are entertaining, however many sometimes feel they're like "walker assault minus features", which is evident in how long it takes to find a game in their categories. Let me say this again THERE IS NO BALANCING so games will not have any change to teams with respect to outcomes so if you're on the losing team prepare for your team to leave.
The random power-up pick ups are an interesting new idea, however it was one taken too far. It was quite exciting to find thermal imploders, scout droids, and all the other interesting battlefield equipment in the random drops. The greatest mistake with this was applying it to the vehicles, one of the greatest shut downs for an imperial team is when their vehicle spawns move deeper and deeper into enemy lines where in some cases an AT-AT spawn may be unobtainable. Who ever thought such a thing was a good idea should have been fired.
That's it, there is no honestly positive merit to this game that it didn't earn from its predecessor. It is sad really the repercussions will be that this may be the last battlefront, and its too bad. Such greatness laid low by such pitiful mediocrity. Also on the side note with the fairly good reviews on meta critic and other trusted gaming journals, and its deviation from a vast majority of user reviews (Which in my opinion tend to be truer) this begs to question to the legitimacy of these reviewing mediums.

-The gameplay is just crap, it is broken. The game doesnt base in a aiming skill shooter, the guy who have most kills ,are the one who has the most powerfull guns and cards. If you have a good aiming skills.....you have NO CHANCE here....thats because there are some guns that can kill you with one or 2 shots even if you are not aiming exactly to the enemy ( like shotguns... in these case sniper shotguns haha), so theres no skill there.
-Maps incentives camping, almost 70% of your deads are some guy camping behind a piece of metal or tree. Or just apears behind you because the map have no structure of a large team gameplay ( thats maybe i like too much conquest large games...like BF4).
    -Insanely unbalance teams and respawn.
-Cero team gameplay, no conquest game...just entirely **** tipe of games. Dont expect gameplay as bf 1 or 2. this is totaly diferent broken gameplay that just work with kids who like an easy, no skill aiming game.
-Guys who pre ordered or have deluxe edition have a OP pistol ( DL-44) and that is one of the most powerfull guns...and they gave you free for these too purchase...so is basicaly a PAY-TO-WIN.

This is not Star Wars battlefront.... they copie the name for selling more.

It's now loadouts only. Combining the loadouts with the HORRIBLE spawns, the game is as casual as Call of Duty. But Call of Duty has some replay value, it has zombie mode, which is a heck of a lot of fun. This game has nothing other than an overpriced 50 dollar season pass, and the smallest playerbase i have seen in a while. Instead of the vehicles spawning, they now have this pickup system, which promotes camping and waiting around. Nice job. Also, they seem to want to give amateur players a chance, making this game lame for hardcore gamers. AVOID AT ALL COST. REFUND IF YOU FELL FOR THE TRAP! Expand

On top of that, it's a Buggy game, with wonky object boxes and severely unbalanced damage. This game is just a terrible excuse for an FPS.

This game is a hollow shell that a bunch of us chumps paid full price for. It doesn't even feel like half a game. Maybe my sense of disappointment stems from the fact that I may have set my expectations to high, but even if I had expected to be disappointed so I could POSSIBLY be surprised by Star Wars Battlefront, I would still be disappointed by how hollow and insubstantial an experience this game was.

As of when i'm writing this review now, at 5pm AEST on the 5th of March, this game is nearly dead, I can't even find a game in any of the more populated servers anymore.

To whomever though it would be a good idea to cut the game into bits and sell to us piecemeal (speculation) or to release this game in the state it is and ask for a full $90 AUD (for the base game!) should know that they suck balls and for ruining what should have been the best iteration of Star Wars Battlefront after 2 superb installments but instead we get a really shiny and smartly dressed turd..........

The gameplay's horrendous and repetitive, the spawns are hilariously bad, and I think I derive more entertainment out of playing Daikatana. So yeah, its bad, but really pretty. OK to watch someone play on Youtube for a bit, but when you actually play this game, you get surprised by just how...impressively...boring it is. I honestly haven't seen a game like this before - where so much obvious time and effort has been spent on visuals and sound design, and so very little has been spent on making an actul fun playing experience. I just have no analog to describe it with. Still, 2/10 for great graphics and sound design, any dev who worked on this should be proud of their work.

The game designers should probably consider alternate employment.

The promised singleplayer bot modes are missing; in their place are flimsy "challenge modes" that don't even attempt to replicate the multiplayer experience or give the player access to the full breadth of content that exists in the multiplayer.

That said, that 'content' is sorely lacking. The game has less than 10 maps, all of them fairly small, with a player cap of 40 on a server. There are no classes, there are no space battles, map layouts have little variety, dodge rolling has been removed, and the handling of equipment like ammunition, turrets or grenades is a joke. Rather than have to implement a way to restock your ammunition, DICE has just made everything unlimited with a cooldown on grenades and the like, as though the game is some kind of MMORPG.

This game is a dumbed down, hyper-simplistic version of Battlefield with star wars skins, and on top of that feels very unfinished. Unless you are prepared to sink $50 into a game that is lacking in nearly every area other than the bare bones, I would suggest you stay away.

This game might be okay if it wasn't so hyped. However, it simply doesn't live up to the hype that was laid out for it. It feels cheap and slapped-together for a deadline (the new film's release). This really just appears to be EA cashing in on a desire for new Battlefront games at an opportunistic time. So to the review itself:

    GRAPHICS:
The graphics are beautiful. My rig can run it fine on ultra and it looks amazing. Really, it looks very good.

    SOUNDTRACK:
Standard fare Star Wars music. Blasters firing, ricochets, and other sound effects sound great. Voice acting is pretty good.

    PLOT:
There is no plot. There is no plot whatsoever. There is no singleplayer game really. This is intended to be a multiplayer-only experience.

    GAMEPLAY:
Gameplay is where Battlefront falls short. It does not live up to the Star Wars: Battlefront name, nor does it live up to DICE's name. There is a "hand" system that governs the two powerups that can be used in battle. These powerups have cooldown periods, etc. There is also a third powerup that lasts for a period of time and uses up charge points which can be acquired on the battlefield. There are also special powerups that can be found on the battlefield, and are very powerful. These "hand" cards cost credits, which are pretty hard to come by. It takes a long time of playing to get good ones and then upgrade them to reduce the cooldown time. This requirement of extreme dedication leads to a huge imbalance between long-term players and newer ones.
There are also some mechanical issues. I found that playing with both a keyboard/mouse and controller, something was not quite right with the sensitivity. Aiming blasters simply feel jittery and impossible to compensate for. It is hard to get used to, and even if you get used to it, aiming is very difficult.
The blasters run on a similarly progressive unlock system, with the special edition DL-44 blaster being quite overpowered. This lends a somewhat pay-to-win feel to the game at times. Many of the higher-level blasters are far too powerful for lower level players to even have a chance against, and this further adds to the balance issues.
Speaking of balance issues, the multiplayer servers are greatly flawed. Many people have had trouble with the time it takes to find matches (I have not). The servers also seem to have issues autobalancing. I have played in many matches where one team wins by a great deal many times in a row, but stays together despite this.
The map, weapon, appearance, and vehicle variety are all very lacking. There are a few maps, which all become boring very quickly. There is no real upgrade system (and no reason to feel very proud of) new weaponry. All of the characters look the same, really. There are customisation options, but they have almost no effect on appearance overall. The vehicle system is a real shame.
The vehicles spawn onto the battlefield as the same special floating powerups I mentioned earlier. Using the powerup allows the player to take control of a vehicle. There are few vehicles to take control of. For the rebels: the T-47 speeder, A-Wing, and X-wing. For the empire: the AT-ST, AT-AT, TIE Fighter, and TIE Interceptor. The air vehicles are all almost exactly the same. They aim for you and function on the principle that "the slower you move the more damage you do". The vehicles also have "hand" abilities that cool down and health bars like regular troops. Flying vehicles feels so awful. It's almost as if DICE remembered that Battlefront had vehicles and then added them as an afterthought. It almost feels like a minigame, rather than anything meaningful.
While there are many more gameplay flaws, the above are some of the most glaring. It would take forever to list them all.

    OVERALL:
I bought this game on sale for about $42 (USD), and I got it refunded, thanks to a kind Origin customer service representative. That's how disappointing it is. I can honestly say that the majority of recent Call of Duty and Battlefield games surpass Star Wars Battlefront in overall quality and value. Don't buy this game, even if it's on sale. Unless, that is, EA adds an enjoyable and playable game in the DLC ($49.99 for a season pass, folks)... Battlefront is the new cash cow.

    EA what have u done with DICE;

DICE created Battlefield and some cool shooters, but this? Wtf seriously 70 euros i have to pay for a game that has less content than Battlefront 2, less maps, less options, less combat, less ALL. It's annoying how EA is doing crap and more crap and people continues buying it.

This game could've been a revolution...

Bored after 2 days. DICE managed to pull off great graphics and sound effects, the game play and feeling, however falls short. You will however feel like you're in the Star Wars universe. Feels like EA didn't let DICE do their magic, again.

The matchmaking is horrible but once you get into a game finally you realize how shallow this game is.
I will just list the cons:
No teamwork-Your team just runs around in a chaotic swarm.
No spawn staging.-You can respawn as soon as you die so you spawn alone and far from the objective.
No attainable objectives.-The objectives are almost always a 2 minute run from your spawn location.
No territory control/fronts.-Kill a few enemies to your front, great! They've respawned behind you.
No team balancing.-Whichever team has the most DL-44s wins, and there is no team management.
Broken weapons.-Whichever team has the most DL-44s wins!
Huge lack of content for the price.-A dozen guns and handful of maps and 5 "Missions"...but emojis...Yay!
There is no badass factor.-Never feel like you actually contributed to winning, unless you have a DL-44!

Play Planetside 2 if you want a huge, awesome, badass Massively Multiplayer FPS. It's free!

Brink was better than Battlefront. That's the worst insult I can think of.

    Thanks.

As a fellow youtuber boogie2988 said And i cant agree more with this argument about Battlefront.
And I almost forgot my ratings Im giving Battlefront a weak 4 just for the amazing graphics and audio as far as gameplay and season pass thing goes i cant give it more than 1,so 3 will be my final rating for this game.

This game is the worst battlefront ever. This battlefront has a lack of contents huge like grand canyon. They took star wars name and in his name sold a incomplete, boring and trivial title. And like always all maps wll be released with DLCs. I hope this game will lost all of users before first dlc will be available.

Star Wars Battlefront looks beautiful and still runs great, managing to stay over 100 fps on my 980 Ti/i7 4790k on ultra settings in 1440p without any overclocking past my factory overclock. Post processing injectors can make it look EVEN MORE beautiful at the cost of some performance. In layman's terms, it's really pretty and easy to run.

That's the extent of the pros of Battlefront. I

That's the extent of the pros of Battlefront. I got it on sale for $30 and it still felt like a ripoff. Offline options are limited to premade "missions" that all feel the same and don't offer much replayability, although they do provide a good opportunity to sort of "preview" each weapon in the game to see which one suits you best once you unlock it. The multiplayer is entertaining if you can manage to get put into a game with balanced teams and good ping; Battlefront doesn't let you choose servers, and even if you leave a game due to poor connection or imbalance, it will frequently put you into the same server upon searching over and over again. Starting weapons completely suck compared to higher-level monsters such as the EE-3 or DL-44, the latter of which you can conveniently unlock if you pay for it (though it has received a nerf since it's starting overpoweredness, it is still quite powerful). Luckily, the first two guns you unlock, the DLT-19 and DH-17, are both very powerful weapons in their own right. The delay on unlocking many game-changing cards makes the lower levels feel like you're a serious underdog, and can be satisfying if you outwit and outperform all those level 50 Shadow Troopers and Twi'leks with their fancy gear.

Overall, if all you're looking for is a Star Wars simulator with great graphics, wait for this to go on sale. Personally, I'd say this game is worth around $15 to $20. The $60 asking price is like someone selling you a can of your favorite drink for $60 because it has a fancy can cover. Sure, the can cover is fancy and looks nice, but is that really worth a whole sixty dollars?

Also the spawn system is stupid, you never know where you spawn, you can not pick your spawn, you have no map, just a little stupid radar icon.

I am a big star wars fan, and this game was amazing...for about 4 hours. Then suddenly I realized I had done everything without really experiencing anything new. Limited maps, same gameplay over and over, I played the squadron maps the most flying a tie fighter or x wing was just fun. But again only for an hour or two. If you have someone who you will play with regularly and just want a light quick game this will be your ticket. If you want to kill a few hours on your day off try something else. I returned it to EB games within 7 days thanks to my membership card. This is only the second game I've ever done this with, Destiny was the first, and they are both similar. Such a disappointment. This game is not for Star wars fans. Yes, it looks beautiful and all the marketing would have you believe that this would be a great game but after picking it up on Christmas sale for 35 dollars, I regretted even the discount price.

The lack of single player already disenfranchises those with poor internet connection as well as a slap in the face to the rich history of Star Wars that could be told in such a beautiful engine.

The resources that EA saved by ditching single player was obviously not spent on multiplayer. There are no server browsers and there are no auto fill (assuming the game can even find you a lobby). It seems there are about 3 modes that the majority of people play and the rest get shunned. It takes quite a while to actually get into a match.

The lack of weapon choice is also distressing as every blaster seems to be the same with no way to customize it. The options given to the appearance of your character were also rather dismal given through a oddly calculated credit score system.

I will say that this game is absolutely beautiful. The graphics are on spot and the sounds is amazing. However the ascetics can only get the game so far. Without the substance that the FPS genre has developed over the past few years, of which this game lacks, and without a coherent story arc, I am not going to be satisfied with this game as it currently stands.

I believe the future of this game will be just like Titanfall. There will be a big hype for it for a few months and then the game will absolutely die without people playing it. There is no replay value and nothing to keep players enticed to keep playing while 2016 has a huge lineup of AAA games coming out.

I hope you enjoy the game if you buy it, but it seems that the people on all the review sites that give this a positive review are only reviewing it positively because they are in a last ditch effort to put the game in a good light and keep the community going as they realized that soon this game will be dead and no one playing it.

Gone is being able to select where you spawn, it's either spawn with your 'partner', which I still have no clue how it is assigned (played many matches without even getting one), or at a random location. If you want to pilot a vehicle in 1st person no luck only 3rd person.

The weapon selection is basically 2 versions of guns (assault rife, machine gun, pistol, etc), one for the rebals and the other for the empire. One with slightly better stats in one field and lower in the other.

To make the vehicle situation worst you can not even steal the enemies vehicles as they are handled as power ups.

The equipment is reduced to 2 cooldown 'cards' and 1 limited use 'card'.

If you are hoping maybe you'll get a battlefront with destroy-able buildings, nope. Ewok tree cities can withstand a orbital bombardment and only lose the railing.

It seems in dice's desire to keep the game from being called a Battlefield:Star Wars they ripped out everything that was there before that shared similarities to Battlefield.

    Abwechslung: (Minimum an Karten)

    Auto Team Balance: (Nicht vorhanden)

I think the only reason this game has not gone the way of Titanfall is only because it is a Star Wars game. If DICE doesn't add a lot of new content soon for cheap the playerbase will move on.

Battlefront has a very shallow progression system. After a few hours of play all the weapons are unlocked and they have no upgrades. After a few more hours all the perks and powers are unlocked with the important ones upgraded to tier 2 which is maxed out. After that the only thing to earn experience and credits for is cosmetic changes. And now everyone is a shadow trooper or alien.

The are 11 total primary weapons. At least five there is almost no point in using because another similar weapon is better in all respects.

The rebels have no land vehicles at all. Imperials have the AT-ST which is easily killed since anyone can carry quick locking homing anti-vehicle weapons. Heck, even the sniper rifle does significant damage to the AT-ST. I do not count speeders since they are only on Endor and its hard to impact the battle when you spend most of the time avoiding obstacles.

There is effectively no matchmaking system. I have seen far more one-sided fights than close finishes.

Air vehicles sometimes make a rare contribution to the fight, but often times they just fly around the battlefield avoiding those homing missiles or fighting each other.

The game types are just pathetic. There are a bunch of modes that almost no one plays, like capture the droid/flag or control points. The only new gameplay type is Walker Assault. Imperials have to protect an AT-AT, rebels kill it. That is the only new innovative mode.

I keep trying to play this game, but I can only do an hour or so before I want to play something else.

This game is an absolute insult to anyone who thought this game was going to be like the original battlefronts. EA has once again grabbed your cash with high valued marketing and resources in order to justify another crappy release.

The game is beautiful in its presentation and its sound is outstanding however that is all that is all the positive remarks I will make of this "game".

The game is beautiful in its presentation and its sound is outstanding however that is all that is all the positive remarks I will make of this "game".

EA Battlefront is quite simply COD with lasers. There is never no coordination between team members, random deaths occur literally moments from being spawned into a map whether it be from a random grenade or air-strafing run, poor map design with people being spawned killed and no balance between the rebels and the empire.

There is no single player to speak of, I will not be including Battlefront's "Missions, Tutorials and Horde modes' because they are not even considered value. On PC unless you sign up for "walker assault" you will not be able to join any game because there is NO ONE playing them. There are NET code issues which is keeping true to the usual EA server's which means unless your directly hooked into your modem your going to experience lag and disconnections to the servers.

The weapons are pathetic as well as its progression system. Lasers are inaccurate and impossible to predict. The better weapons in the game are locked behind a leveling wall which means new players are going to be in for a rough time for the first 8 hours or so unless they of course quit by then. The card slots where equipment and perks is completely idiotic, 9/10 of them once again are obtained through useless grinding of levels and even then must obtain credits in order to purchase them.

There is no balance within the game regarding the factions. Rebels get NO ground vehicles apart from a speeder on endor, the empire get a ATST which if is marched into a spawn zone will annihilate everyone within seconds. Aircraft within the game is also unbalanced. The rebels aircraft absolutely incinerate everything ground or air within seconds, the A-Wing is stupidly overpowered with a shield that regenerates faster then wolverine on meth.

Battlefront is an insult to gaming and once again EA has delivered a very unoriginal and thought out game. Even if Battlefront was more like Battlefield 4 it would of been a better game then what it is now, clearly EA's targeted audience for this was young children sitting on the couch with their consoles because this is not a game for even your average gamer. The DLC and season pass for this game is so uninspiring and predicted as it cost almost the entire price of the base game. Sims 4 is a clear example of where EA games is heading in the next years with its overpriced DLC and outrageous practices and Battlefront is no exception.

EA games have officially killed the sims series, killed Command and Conquer and now your just killed Star wars battlefront. Good on you ya **** wankers, hope your proud of your accomplishments. Sales of this game means nothing in comparison to how pissed off everyone is right now.

Nearly a decade ago developers delivered Battlefront 2 and showed how to make a great game. How are you supposed to rate this game any higher, missing all the important parts of gameplay and content we already had 10 years ago!

Too dissapointed to write much more. A summary: Multiplayer has a lot of cheaters, EA is not banning. No server browser. No modding possible. Dead on pc

    No server browser.
    No modding possible.
Dead on pc and dying on consoles aswell.
Little content. Few maps/ map recycle.
No spawn selection and broken fighter spawns (you can be shot down before you can react).
Weapon selection hardly makes a difference (only long/short range makes a difference).

This game is definitely not what I was hoping for after waiting for years for a sequel to two of my favorite games of all time (Star Wars Battlefront 1&2). This is not a Battlefront game. With the lack of replay value and game play that makes me cringe I can not recommend this game to anyone. Expand

A good graphics but gameplay is very very boring and lamer. Good Star Wars design but not adaptable with a good gameplay. It looks like this game is dedicated to children.

pros: Star Wars setting, graphics, sound
cons: lack of content, very bad game design, broken core game mechanics (worst team balancing ever), casual gameplay, pc platform full of hackers

An insult to the *10 year old* Battlefront 2. It has a fraction of the content, poor game design everywhere and costs 3x as much?

Unfortunately, the mugs will pay for the game so they will keep churning out more.

Before I begin my review, let me remind you that you may still be able to refund the game.

This game has great graphics, great classic star wars musics and apparently developers thought that was enough for an AAA star wars game. Terrible game mode designs ruin the very little content this game has.
Here is an example: There is a game mode in which one person plays as a powerful hero/villain, and whoever kills him, becomes the next hero. One with the most kills wins. Sounds fun, right? WRONG. Whoever thought that it was a good idea to reward only the last hit on hero, should be fired and banned from the gaming industry. It takes hundreds of bullets to take down a hero, but only last one is rewarded. You could easily be the one who damaged the hero/villain most (and yes the game keeps track of who did the most damage and shows you at the end of the game) and still, you could easily be the last person on scoreboard without any hope of winning the game.

Customization is another joke. Cosmetically, a few different faces is the only customization choice you will ever have.

As a game developer, I respect that they implemented the core mechanics well (except for hero controls in my opinion) but there is not enough content to enjoy those mechanics. Honestly designing a few maps shouldn't take that long. They could at least make an epic story mode and it would kick ass with these graphics, sounds but that was a wasted potential.

I doubt DLCs will give enough content of their worth if they think that this little content in the game is worth 60€.

To me this was a game that I was greatly anticipating and very eager to play. I participated in open beta and was willing to forgive bugs and black screen issues on my wife's pc because it was a beta.

This is the official release, and many of the bugs are still there. Primarily the black screen. The game is unplayable as all that comes up is a black screen. I was able to play mine

I was able to play mine maxed out on my rig no issues or frame rate drops. It even runs fine on my old Alienware mx14xr1 (about a 3.5yr old laptop).

The flight system is horrible, the vehicle system abysmal. For starters there is no joystick support at all what so ever, you can use an xbox controller, but this gives it a cheap port feeling. Like they didn't give a care for the PC. Then secondly the spawning in vehicles is cheap un-inmersive, and feels like a half finished game. One would be expecting to be able to go to a hangar and jump in your fighter and roll out. But none of that happens. U just spawn up in the air already in flight, only to crash to the ground shortly after from the horrible controls. This also ruins the game as well because the battle field as epic as they wanted it to seem it is hard for it to look awesome as you see tie fighters, a wings, and x wings raining down on the battle field not from being shot down but from pilots not being able to control them and just slamming to the deck.

The partner system is also disappointing and seems limiting not to mention for a battle field game the maps feel small and confined and very few players. some maps 12v12 and max is 20v20 this also seems as a limitation because of consoles. This is in no way epic and perhaps the reason for the spawn in vehicle system to make the battle field seem more crowded. This should have truly been made for the pc and watered down for the console peasants. I am hugely disappointed and have walked away from this tittle.

Again I praise origin over their refund policy as it is amazing letting us walk away from shoddy developers.
Steam has tried, but falls short on this as I feel their return policy is inferior.

I hope they fix this tittle but as it stands this tittle has no hope.

    Pros:
    - good visuals
    - fast paced action
    - laser battles are amazing
    - feels like you are in a star wars movie

    cons
    - flying is lame and boring
    - spawns are horrible
    - map feels confined and small.
    - Black screen on start up that won't let my wife even play the game
    - partner system seems limiting
    - no joystic support for flying
    - power ups, weapons, and vehicles are icons like a retro arcade video game

Hope this helps those of you that are on the fence.

A perfect game for short sessions. It’s not deep enough to convince online shooters veterans, but it will definitely win over Star Wars fans. [01/2016, p.34]

Star Wars Battlefront looks and sounds great, and with Battlefield-class gameplay could have ruled the multiplayer galaxy. Unfortunately, at best OK-level, Battlefront-class gameplay is much too shallow to last long. And this is THE one license, which really needs a single player campaign. [Dec 2015]

Any semblance of subtlety is abandoned entirely when it comes to the playable Hero and Villain characters. [Jan 2016, p.110]
