    Even if you completely ignore the ridiculous loot boxes in the multiplayer that essentially make the game pay to win the campaign is extremely short and only took me 4 hours to complete. Definitely not worth the $60-$80

    PROS: The maps and worlds are faithfully recreated and bring the movies and characters to life The classes offer some greater distinction than in Battlefront 1, but don't go far enough to diversify the gameplay The gunplay    The gameplay starts out as fun and interesting, but quickly becomes repetitive and a grind.     CONS:
    Class are balanced badly
    Lag spikes can destroy are annoying at best and firefight losing at worst
    Players who have invested time (or money) will always beat you out in a straight firefight because of their advantage in starcards and ability cards
    The gameplay becomes monotonous and boring just to unlock milestones and get slightly better weapons
    Weapons do not seem better than the ones before, but only different. Some might be better at range while others have a higher rate of fire, but they aren't all around better for investing time into'

    Breath of the Wild for GOTY!
    Well it's actually obvious that it will be GOTY, no other game superior to it.... Game of the century would be even better.

    Server selection screen is again idiotic - "new matchmaking" instead of classic browser with filter.
    No normal conquest mode. Gameplay is very chaotic (vs Battlefield, TF and BFront 1) (not due to the levels - they are more or less - but due to idiotic game modes and only 40 persons cap). Squad selection is also not very friendly. No spots. Minimap is useless. Hud is useless. No fell of SW battles at all.
    Weapons maybe canon, but they are way to arcade. In Battlefront 1 they were more "solid", does not know how to explain this...

    Graphisc are good as well as stilistics - this is really Star Wars. But this is only Pro.

    Anyway - i would not recommend the game in the state as it is now. What i afraid - by the time ll fixes and addons will be made - the servers will be empty. A pity, really.
    If you would like anything more like BattleFront 1 - better play Battlefiled or turn back to Battlefront 1 itself    … Expand

    Even if they disabled the micro-transactions (for now) a game for $60 shouldn't be pay to win. Micro-transactions for only cosmetic items is cool though.

    no way.. poor single player campaign, really short and poor storytelling. No way accepting pay to win with a 60USD game.. bloodsucking game developers, we must stand against these new way of gaming.

    This is absurd!
    The progression system is tied to loot boxes, and to encourage buying them, you are in for a grind fest.
    Do not recommend to anyone, especially if you are a Star Wars fan like me, this is not the game you're looking for.

    I simply don't get. Why ruin a game with such great potential by charging you at least 60 bucks and then hiding all the content behind a paywall. You have gone too far, EA. The gaming community will not stand for this. Removing the paid content and announcing it will be added again doesn't help it...like at all. EA, you will join those that tried before and fell beneath our wrath. Learn from it.

    Absolute trash. I will never buy a game from EA, Ubisoft again. I pay to play a game, not to pay to pay to pay to pay..... Don't buy this and don't even preorder EA games again.

    This game could have been so much more if I could find a multiplayer game. The star cards are a bad idea. It would also help if I could spawn in the same squad as the group I entered the game in. Which I cant. Granted. the graphics are amazing and there is some seriously optimised performance.     Even the single player campaign is garbage. "Play as the darkside" except not because the MC is an annoying coward who quits the empire almost immediately. Thanks DICE.

    Graphics look alright, Gameplay is average at best. Game is barebones and the bare minimum was done to create Star Wars themed cash milking machine.

Now i went into Battlefront 2 expecting what people already said: average gameplay with forced microtransactions and lootboxes. I was not dissapointed. Onto the review then.

    -The single player is boring. It might as well have been a 2 hour long cutscene because that's what it felt like. Shriv was awesome though.
    -Now onto the part of why most people bought this game. The multiplayer. And.....it's the same as the 2014 version. Only now with an even worse grinding system than the first one, way more cheaper respawns and deaths and the lootboxes. Good God the lootboxes. I mean honestly. How can publishers and developers still think that this is a good idea. When the game is F2P i can kinda understand (you gotta make money off the game somehow) but a full priced 60 dollar game with a 100 dollar collector's edition doesn't need a gambling system to make more money surely right?

    You know i was thinking of giving this game a 5/10 because at least it had a single player campaign but the more i'm writing this the more i'm remembering the unpleasant time i had with Battlefront 2.     5- videos from cutscenes looks horrible and stutter all the way. It's 2017 but my octacore machine with a GTX 1080 Ti can't play what seems to be less than 720p quality videos without stuttering.

    6- HDR is totally broken. Game forces HDR mode and everything looks like garbage. After patches, still HDR cannot be disabled... because not a single developer considers a switch something cool.. let's just CRASH all the PCs that are not compatible with whatever HDR method this game is trying to impose.

    7- DX 12 mode is completely broken. I bought the best of the best tech has to offer only to get greeted by an incredible stuttering circus of glitches and slowness. DX12 mode is completely and utterly broken.. it's impossible to play the game like this. Hello.. did these guys even BETA tested this stuff?

    8- My score does not even contemplate the progression system nor the loot boxes so, make your own conclusions on the current state of this game on PC.    … Expand

    This game is horrible. Microtransactions ruin it. There isn't enough content, to begin with. The stuff you have to buy gives you an advantage in the game. Very disappointing.

    Good graphics. Boring campaign, tedious loot box structured multiplayer. All in all a less than average game. Would have given it a 3 but EA's dragged star wars through the mud & that kinda sucks, not to mention spending a full $60 on massive disappointment. Overwatch was cheaper & i play it more now than i did a year ago, non-game altering loot boxes also helped it's cause

    Please, bypass this game by the side, as EA sees players only wallets, and this is sisen pass, games with Donat to win the battle, the price for the game itself. As long as EA does not become a man, no more will I buy their game

    Cons:
    - Progression in this game is absolutely terrible. Once you have completed all the challenges and used up the initial inflow of credits, it becomes a terrible grind to unlock characters or get crates.
    - Maps are imbalanced and usually favors one side.
    - Farming (by either killing AIs or AFK farming) is rampant. AI farming can also have a snowball effect.
    - Servers are really bad. The lag and rubber-banding makes MP a terrible experience. Some game modes are pretty much unplayable.
    - The mechanics of the game still works against you. You should be able to unlock almost every card with about 100ish hour of gameplay. Right now after 30 hours, I hardly have 10% of the cards and its just downhill from here.

    Pros:
    1. The game looks beautiful. The maps are diverse and each map gives you a different feel.
    2. The heroes are a manageable threat. They will kill you if you try to go 1v1 with them but are easily countered with a small group.    … Expand

    Köszönöm ea, hogy a 2015-ös Battlefron után ismét belerúgtál a gyerekkorunkba...a 2005-ös Star Wars Battlefthoz nem is mérhető ez a valami amivel megint csak minél több pénzt akartok legombolni azokról a rajongókról, akiknek még volt egy kis bizodalmuk abban, hogy valaha egy újabb jó Battlefront játék fog készülni...ez már nem csalódottság ez már harag és megvetés...

    Even if the game had all of it's "pay to win", the reputation of being battle front 2 is in the mud.

    We finally got the Star Wars games that millions of fans wanted, only to have EA spread their greedy filth all over it. Players of the deluxe edition or early access were free to spend as much real money as they wanted/could afford to gain an obvious competitive advantage over other players; in a AAA title multiplayer game, that is downright destructive to the game and community. I hope that EA, Dice, and Disney all listen to the fans and do something to make this right. You have a god dang Star Wars license here, and then u throw it all away on making ppl pay full price and then adding pay-to-win free-2-play economy models. Then launch day you retract them, BUT NOT PERMANENTLY. Never again another EA title. Never. This was the last straw that broke my trust forever in you.

    If you are at all a fan of Star Wars you will not buy this game. Mediocre story, and terrible progression in the multiplayer system. If i put hours into a specific class I want unlocks for that specific class not a box that randomly generates a reward for me. Yay an emote for a class I don't use at all. No way that EA did this on purpose to drive the sale of more lootboxes(Sarcasm). Utter trash.

    The thing that makes the game truly horrible is the fact that while the game itself is filled with bugs, they put all their effort into the microtransactions scheme. Their response to our displeasure, their attitude towards the whole issue, their attempt to use the psychological weaknesses that gamblers suffer from against players that might not even adults yet, their constant backtracking but never relenting on their idea to milk the game as much as they can make this game a horrible purchase. Rush forward, press attack over and over, maybe use a force push ... hold block for some incoming lazers, rinse and repeat - after 20 mobs I really couldn't be arsed. They seemed to all spawn from nowhere and after a while I didn't really give a **** about any of it. The sounds and music (i.e. atmosphere) all felt like an out of sync soundtrack. Pile of ****.

    Ok, some people might get upset that I didn't play the campaign, well I wanted to jump into the combat and find out what the 'end-game' was going to be like. Well **** I didn't care about anything after about 3-5 mins of playing, except wanting a refund which is exactly what I did. Maybe I demand more from games but 15-20 years ago this game would have been ripped apart for the gameplay alone.

    The problem with current reviews is that most of the kids playing now will practically play any old **** so it really doesn't take much to please them, and these companies know it.

    Average shooter game with Star Wars skins.

If you enjoy Star Wars stories then you'll probably like it and its always nice to play as some of the icons of the movies. Although it does seem like huge parts of the story are missing. There are times when you finish one mission, get a cutscene and suddenly it's been several months and thats it; onto the next arc.

    Arcade mode is mostly a gimmick. The AI is dumb and for me, there was just no fun to be had doing the challenges. Makes me miss Galactic Conquest a whole lot more....

    Heroes vs Villains is probably the mode needing the most teamwork and rewards it pretty well. Plenty of fun to be had although my impression is that the Dark Side is much, much stronger than the Light.

    Starfighter Assault... It was the biggest reason for me getting the game after really enjoying it during the beta. But after a few hours you really notice how dumbed down it is. The sheer amount of bots really diminishes the sense of accomplishment of killing an enemy and when you come across and actual player, its really down to luck as to who sees the other first. You die incredibly quickly and no matter the match-up; if someone is behind you, you will die and there's very, very little you can do about it.

    Galactic Assault can be fun. However the game tries its absolute hardest not to be.
    The maps are genuinely some of the worst I have ever played in a shooter. When you have teams of 20 vs 20 and there are single objective points which need to be held, all ideas of strategic planning and teamwork goes straight out the window. It descends into "throw grenade, run to cover in/near the objective and hope for the best". Takodana phase 1 is the worst offender for this but Kamino is another, but at least that is split between 3 main corridors.
    Then there are other maps where phases are just impossible to win for one team. I have never, in ~33 hours of Galactic Assault, seen Republic win phase 1 of Kashyyyk or the Rebels win phase 1 of Hoth. The best you can hope for is to make a dent on the attacker's ticket counter and completely ignore the objective.

    The game overall, visually, is stunning. But it is seriously lacking and the more you play, the more you begin to notice is actually quite bad. For example, Kashyyyk: it looks amazing and during the starting sequence you see lasers and explosions and it gets you hyped but after playing it a few times you notice that these scripted events deceive you and make the game look more dynamic than it truly is. The same goes for most of the Galactic Assault and Starfighter Assault maps. There's a huge amount of scripted events covering over the fairly dull and repetitive gameplay. A whole lot of invested development time making the game look good, while not a lot has gone into making it play good.    … Expand

This game is insanely broken including all the possible bad decisions ever made in a shooter and all bad choices made in term of art style and game design. This game can not be rated fairly because it will ruin not just your image of EA and DICE but it will damage your overall love for STAR WARS games and movies. Besides these the hero characters looks like they are on drugs, some of the voice actors are horrible too. And on the top of it they want REAL MONEY FOR THIS GARBAGE!!! Beware this game is already dead, there are hours in a day when You won't find 40ppl matches. And the actual content in the game is like half of the previous one which is also a dead and mediocre game in general.     it sucks, microtransactions aside this game is just a god awful example why branding doesn't matter, This game has almost nothing to awe over besides the visuals and sound design. Just do yourself a favor and avoid it you'll have more fun playing something else.

    It is a speedy pewpewfest without any sort of advanced tactics or sense of presence, in glorious graphics, with a horrible horrible progressionsystem. So many missed opportunities. Not even mentioning the pay2win feature currently disabled.

And this wasn't just a fluke; most games were extremely one-sided. Either my team totally dominated, or the other. Only one game in ten got exiting in the end.
    - Want to join the game along with a group of friends? Prepare to be disappointed. On our first attempt me and my two friends ended up not only on opposing team, but ON DIFFERENT SERVERS. And again, this wasn't just a fluke, it happened on multiple occasions.
    - So, you and your friends managed to end up on the same server? Want to play together as a squad? Think again, there are no squads! You simply end up spawning together with the last few teammates to die. So, in a good game, you might occasionally see your mates somewhere accross the other side of the map. But you'll never fight the enemy together.
    - Want to experience the forests of Endor? Or would you rather go to Naboo? EA doesn't care about your preferences. They'll send you to whatever map they see fit.
    - Although the game cards with power ups makes for a pretty fun way to level up characters this feature gives experienced (and oftentimes better) players an unfair advantage versus less experienced first timers. So, as a new player, prepare to die. A lot.
    - The maps, and the objectives, seem more focused on creating beautiful environments than offering interesting gameplay.

    Besides of these faults I find that the game play lack in depth. For one I never feel back about dieing; I'll just pop right back up with another character within a few moments. It's as if my life isn't valuable at all. What if some of my abilities unlocked over time? Or what if me dieing meant that our team lost a spawn point (in case no other teammate was in the area)? What if there was something to make every playthough feel unique?

    So, I ended up paying something like $4 to access this game on Origin Access. Don't think it was worth it.    … Expand

    So its 2017 and now we not only have a p2w AAA game but it also doesn't have dedicated servers/server browsing, something we had figured it out in like quake 1 over 20 (TWENTY YEARS) ago......

    Lackluster single player campaign, short and lacking depth compared with jedi knight/dark forces all those many years ago.     loot boxes and 4 hour Single player Campaign , graphics are a 10 but everything else drags it to 1. Only 2 viable games mode in multiplayer , Light saber combat is still HORRBLE, it amount to a bunch of kid hitting a piñata.

    I wanted so much to love this game, the beta was almost perfect. Then the game released and EA took it's preverbial crap on it like it does with everything else. This is a company that's far more bothered about pleasing investors than creating popular and loved results from it's customer base.     EA Battlefront 2 is not an actual game. This is a platform for microtransactions and lootboxes. Hostile and aggressive anti-consumer attitude towards players have ruined, what could have been a fun and enjoyable experience.

    I wanted a game and I got different modes stitched together and inconsistent first and third person views, it feels thrown together and has no core, do not waste your money. Sad to see a great brand squeezing the life out of it's loyal customers with all its evil force. Shame on you EA & Dice, you blew it.

    This game HAD so much potential. I refuse to play it anymore after 10 hrs due to loot boxes and the coming micro transactions. Having paid $60, I believe I paid for the game already and $60 is a lot of money! Enough is enough. Not the way to make a game!! EA is evil. They are NOT gamers!

    It's a glorified pachinko application.
    The story is shallow, and the game is purely pay to win.
    This game had so much potential, but like everything EA touches, ruined it.
    The online play is atrocious, with lag, rubber banding, and the pay to win progression totally ruining the game and rendering it unplayable.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really wanted to like SWBFII, but I just don't. Despite the microtransactions, this game is a generally terrible game.

    CAMPAIGN:
    I was very excited for the campaign in Star Wars Battlefront II, getting to play as someone from the Empire's side to see their point of view looked very interesting. However, the campaign was anything but interesting. The campaign felt like pointless shooting and running around. And not to mention, the main protagonist turned to the Rebels about 5 missions in, going against the whole point of seeing something from the Empire's point of view. Overall, a disappointing and bad campaign.

    MULTIPLAYER:
    I have always liked Star Wars Battlefront multiplayer, big 20 v 20 battles with heaps of vehicles, heroes and action. However, Star Wars Battlefront II's multiplayer isn't that.

    The Battlepoints system is trash, the reason being that you will have sweaty kids running around at the start of the game trying so hard to get their Battlepoints so they can unlock their heroes. So then about 5 little sweats unlock their heroes and play as them for the rest of the game. This completely ruins it for the newer, less skilled or casual players who want to experience Battlefront II. Every time I would save enough Battlepoints to unlock a hero, it would go to the spawn screen and have the message pop up saying "Max number in play", what a disappointment. And I will never get to play as a hero that game either, since the sweats that unlock the heroes at the start, stay as heroes the whole game since now heroes have health regen. That's why I liked the original random drop system in Battlefront (2015), this would give the opportunity for any lucky player to stumble upon a hero pickup and get to play as their favourite character. Yes, there would be people who'd learn the spots and simply sit there and wait, but that could've easily been fixed by generating them randomly at random positions. Not to mention how very little heroes there are in the game.

    Battlefront II's servers are absolute trash. I play with 22ms ping to the Australian server and still manage to rubberband, get shot behind corners and aim directly at someone yet have no shots hit. I don't know why this is happening, but it is. So many other players complain about this in the game chat so I know it is not a problem specific to me (I have cable internet with 11ms, 115mbps down & 2mbps up) according to speedtest.net, so I know my internet is not the problem.

    The matchmaking and team balance in Battlefront II is a mess. Every game I play is one-sided. Either we are getting smashed or smashing the other team. This ties in with the hero and Battlepoints problem I stated earlier, there are always those 3 or 4 people who stay in heroes the whole game and never seem to die, making them smash everyone else and making the game not fun.

    The vehicle balancing in SWBFII is absolutely horrible. Especially when I play on any map with AT ST's. There will always be those two players spending the whole game in their AT-ST while everyone on the Rebel side gets basically nothing. There needs to be a specific class made for blowing sh*t up, which would make vehicles so much more manageable.

    Overall, Star Wars Battlefront II is a generally terrible game and I have had very little fun playing it. I 100% regret buying this and since I bought a physical copy with a code inside, I have no way of refunding it. DICE need to make major changes to this game to persuade me to come back. For the meantime, I'll be sticking with Titanfall 2.    … Expand

    I gave it 1 out of ten because of the unfinished piece of **** that they call single player campaign...so many bugs, so much bad script...I can't take it anymore...I quit with ALT+F4...the game is that BAD!!! I like the story...but EA...they **** on an awesome franchise.     Apart from the great Starfighter Assault mode Battlefront II is a mess of conflicting ideas, uneven mechanics and of course questionable monetization practices. DICE is facing long months of salvaging the game and the studio’s good name. [01/2018, p.32]

    Even the tinsel of the Star Wars world cannot hide the silly story and the boring singleplayer gameplay, or the necessity to accumulate the credits in the crate hunting in multiplayer. Battlefront II pleases as a genuine shooter in the beautiful scenery, but EA should deserve a slap into the face for their mad progression system.
