It takes me back to the 80's. If EA has made this game a Starship battle game alone i would have been happy.. Instead you have these annoying missions in the middle that cant decide what type of game they want to be. I still play Battlefield 4, such an amazing game, then EA take that engine and turn it into a Star Wars game, and a bad one at that. The multiplayer is terrible also, so im not bothered about the microtransactions as will never play it. Would grab it on sale on Origin, but never buy it fill price as the only decent thing about it is the Starship battles and the rest is just Meh! Expand

Some of the best graphics and sounds you will ever experience in a game. That being said, the business practices of the loot boxes is unacceptable and possibly criminal if the European courts have their say.

I eagerly selected him and decided to pursue some melee carnage - after killing 20 mobs I couldn't really give a **** about anything else in the game. The combat was boring and stupid, no skill level at all. Rush forward, press attack over and over, maybe use a force push ... hold block for some incoming lazers, rinse and repeat - after 20 mobs I really couldn't be arsed. They seemed to all spawn from nowhere and after a while I didn't really give a **** about any of it. The sounds and music (i.e. atmosphere) all felt like an out of sync soundtrack. Pile of ****.

Ok, some people might get upset that I didn't play the campaign, well I wanted to jump into the combat and find out what the 'end-game' was going to be like. Well **** I didn't care about anything after about 3-5 mins of playing, except wanting a refund which is exactly what I did. Maybe I demand more from games but 15-20 years ago this game would have been ripped apart for the gameplay alone.

The problem with current reviews is that most of the kids playing now will practically play any old **** so it really doesn't take much to please them, and these companies know it.

Average shooter game with Star Wars skins.

    **** if you ask me.

I've played 40 hours of various game modes; campaign, arcade, starfighter assault, galactic assault and heroes vs villains. This review is ignoring the lootcrates/progression stuff. Even ignoring that, it has big issues of its own.

Firstly, the campaign is a solid "Okay". Its not great in terms of gameplay and its a little cheap when you recognise large areas are copy and pasted from the multiplayer maps. The story is good. If you enjoy Star Wars stories then you'll probably like it and its always nice to play as some of the icons of the movies. Although it does seem like huge parts of the story are missing. There are times when you finish one mission, get a cutscene and suddenly it's been several months and thats it; onto the next arc.

Arcade mode is mostly a gimmick. The AI is dumb and for me, there was just no fun to be had doing the challenges. Makes me miss Galactic Conquest a whole lot more....

Heroes vs Villains is probably the mode needing the most teamwork and rewards it pretty well. Plenty of fun to be had although my impression is that the Dark Side is much, much stronger than the Light.

Starfighter Assault... It was the biggest reason for me getting the game after really enjoying it during the beta. But after a few hours you really notice how dumbed down it is. The sheer amount of bots really diminishes the sense of accomplishment of killing an enemy and when you come across and actual player, its really down to luck as to who sees the other first. You die incredibly quickly and no matter the match-up; if someone is behind you, you will die and there's very, very little you can do about it.

Galactic Assault can be fun. However the game tries its absolute hardest not to be.
The maps are genuinely some of the worst I have ever played in a shooter. When you have teams of 20 vs 20 and there are single objective points which need to be held, all ideas of strategic planning and teamwork goes straight out the window. It descends into "throw grenade, run to cover in/near the objective and hope for the best". Takodana phase 1 is the worst offender for this but Kamino is another, but at least that is split between 3 main corridors.
Then there are other maps where phases are just impossible to win for one team. I have never, in ~33 hours of Galactic Assault, seen Republic win phase 1 of Kashyyyk or the Rebels win phase 1 of Hoth. The best you can hope for is to make a dent on the attacker's ticket counter and completely ignore the objective.

The game overall, visually, is stunning. But it is seriously lacking and the more you play, the more you begin to notice is actually quite bad. For example, Kashyyyk: it looks amazing and during the starting sequence you see lasers and explosions and it gets you hyped but after playing it a few times you notice that these scripted events deceive you and make the game look more dynamic than it truly is. The same goes for most of the Galactic Assault and Starfighter Assault maps. There's a huge amount of scripted events covering over the fairly dull and repetitive gameplay. A whole lot of invested development time making the game look good, while not a lot has gone into making it play good.

Also you will need in game money when going up against a team that has pretty much maxed out their abilities. To be able to achieve weapon and class milestones to progress an to be reward with in game money so you can buy class and hero crates . Of course the reason for this is that the game was designed from the ground up with MTX in mind to entice people to spend money for in game currency so they can apply it to their character builds. Also matches are starting without filling both teams to 20 players each. And playing 17v10 for a couple of mins is not fun. And for a game that focuses on the multiplayer aspect more so that story telling rpg side it really isn't worth it because of those glaring faults. The game could be really enjoyable to where you could play endless hours, but there are to many balance type issues.

The campaign was just over 4 hours long and ends openly. Gone are the days of buying a complete game at launch. While the campaign was enjoyable it didn't do anything new or shocking and you see everything coming a mile away. The progression system is beyond broken in this game! You use credits earned by playing to buy Heroes (Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, ect) however you also use these same credits to buy loot boxes that randomly give you cards to upgrade the normal class characters. So if you want to play as Darth Vader and you are currently saving all your credits for him that means you are not able to upgrade any of your other characters. They have since lowered the insane prices of Heroes, however they also lowered your rewards for completing the campaign, and also limited the amount of credits you can earn in arcade mode. Yes you heard it correctly, they limit the amount of progression you can EARN in the game by PLAYING the game to cause you to pull out your wallet and buy your way to top of progression. Another note to end on your performance does not matter in this game. If you have 0 kills 50 deaths and do not play the objectives you earn the same amount of credits at the end of the match as the guy who gets 50 kills, a 45 kill streak, and only 1 death. Unfortunately, the progression and loot box system totally undermines the multiplayer experience. I hope Disney takes note of this fiasco, and awards the Star Wars licensing rights to a proper game producer that will keep fans happy, instead of one like EA who tarnishes the Star Wars franchise for so many. The game itself is good, it needs some additional tweaking but overall it would be a solid entry to the Star Wars universe if not for the blatant, and downright villainous microtransactions implementation. Players of the deluxe edition or early access were free to spend as much real money as they wanted/could afford to gain an obvious competitive advantage over other players; in a AAA title multiplayer game, that is downright destructive to the game and community. I hope that EA, Dice, and Disney all listen to the fans and do something to make this right. Until they do that, PLEASE do not support EA by buying this game, you're encouraging this kind of shifty behavior in our industry and hobby. Expand

Absolutely bass ackwards at best. Great fix EA. Don't get me wrong... the actual content in the game is stunningly gorgeous, hands down the best of any Star Wars anything. It has plenty of great moments and very nostalgic, IF you can get a good match. Currently the game still doesn't even have lobby rotations of any kind.. all the good players end up on one team in a server and that's that. You usually NEVER get on a decent team because all the openings are on the **** teams where people have already rage quit and you take their place on the shyte team. So much fun... When you finally get on a good team and are able to get some points, after about 3 rounds it becomes stupid boring and you can literally just sit around and goof off.. which is fun sometimes I won't lie. Essentially either I find myself rage quitting from impossible situations or bored out of my mind due to other team being full of completely terrible players. WTF DICE.. this is Dice' fault, they are notorious for this and completely inept at figuring out a solution for 0% balancing. I'm giving this game a 6/10 from the aspect of a good player able to at least potentially overcome **** situations and have a bit of fun... and I'm giving the game 0/10 for casual players who want to just have a good experience from the perspective of a trooper.. you better off watching the movies and won't hate yourself as much. The bad:
    - frostbite engine: worst feeling player movement physics in the history of AAA games
    - maps somehow immediately feel stale after only a few weeks of having the game
    - Balance in large modes is completely ruined by heroes. About a minute into any match the heroes will be up and will be for the rest of the match. They're so horribly balanced that you are totally screwed if you're anything but another hero - there is no defense nor offense. This leads to heroes snowballing entire games, and a good hero player can effectively tear around the map with impunity. Heroes are so inexpensive that even after dieing they can just play the same one again - there is no limit.
    - starting the game with no characters leveled is a horribly punishing experience. The base classes and those that aren't leveled up are at a severe disadvantage. So have fun several dozen hours in game just leveling up things enough to be playable.

Thats a clear massage: Start as soon as we release overpriced, overhyped game or grind for weeks as an underdog and get owned by people who not only knows maps and mechanics better but also outgear you and outlevel your abilities... I was full of optimism when i started multiplayer, but its unbrearable, unfun experience. Constantly being owned by enemies who happens to always have topped deck. After few days i give up. The leveling of stuff is to slow and 99,9% people that kill me shows max levels. I could stand being outplayed by people who knows game better, having months or years headstart, but combined with their superior stats of their guns and abilities i just cannot enjoy it.

I dont know how it was before. How strong was the p2w and how messed up user experience was back then, but today it feels like abandoned, dying game that they made a big promotion for, to lure and milk just a bunch of more players (condemned to being underdogs and meat for the veterans), as some stupid form of rehabilitation in eyes of the veterans to feel better.
Grind was much longer before? I cant imagine anything longer than there is now. Not for new players, who get stuck with default s**tgear and are thrown to fight veteran players. What feels like throwing pebbles even if you headshot a lot, and get fired back with a freaking battleship's cannon. Irritating, frustrating, demotivating - those words best describe new players' experience in Battlefront 2.

Also the 40player battles are unoptimised and some maps are unneccesarily heavy on the CPU.

Also boring, uninspired campaign that feels to long when you play it. And after you realise how bad MP is for new players, you realise why the campaign was that long. It just contributes to the 24h game time you have to ask for refund.

It have its moments tho, and being mix of battlefield and SW universe deserves some extra points.

What good dogfight should be. The objectives are good too. I think it has a lot more depth in this mode, compared to its predecessor. All in all, this is a great game, at its core.

The problem, is they take a solid core and then shred it with a progression system that is confusing, slow (unrewarding), and built around paid lootbox progression.

I was unhappy with the paid loot boxes going in. The game is Pay to Win. Anyone that says it's not doesn't understand the concept or are 100% fanboys. You have a very large number of "star cards" you can get. You need a certain number/level of star cards, to open your slot 2. Now, I have played through the entire single player mission, about 7 hours of multiplayer, and 4 "arcade" missions. I have unlocked level 2 cards (out of 3 levels) for 1 character. That is all. ALL of my multiplayer time has been playing the 24 man spaceship missions. I've earned probably a dozen or so loot boxes in that time. That is all. After spending 20 minutes or more in a match, you get some credits (I am getting between 100- around 350... with most games giving me a little over 200 credits) The one saving grace, is progression challenges. As they run out, your ability to really earn many credits does as well. This system, right here, is broken. It is painfully obvious you are supposed to supplement your earning of loot boxes with paid loot boxes. A $60 game should NOT be additionally monetized how freemium games are. That is double-dipping. Choose one or the other... if you use both, you are exploiting your customers. Oh, and I want to go back to progression in Arade. After playing 5 games, I was told I got 0 credits for the last game (no warning) and there was a 2 hour lockout before I could earn credits in arcade again. This is a travesty. Though, I do admit, I found arcade mode to be pretty lame. But again, they lock parts of the game out, for earning credits legitimately, to force you to purchase more. (It's painfully obvious with paid loot boxes out.

On top of the 100% broken progression system, the game just has bugs. In a game tonight, everyone was complaining about rubber banding (and I crashed numerous times, or instantly blew up for no reason). On top of this, you get disconnected randomly after a match and sit waiting for a new game that never comes... You then disconnect and rejoin to be back at the beginning of the map rotation. "

This game has a lot going for it. It is a solid shooter with a very well done Star Wars dressing on it. Then, with a few major bugs and a terribly broken progression system, the game pretty much does a face plant. This game really needs a demo to see if you can look past the broken sub-systems enough to enjoy the game. But, as it is, they don't offer one. I'd say pass on this game. If it comes down to $25, it would probably worth a buy. At $60, you are being ripped off. At the higher tier, you are really being ripped off.

I'm not a big multiplayer guy. I passed on the first game because it had no single player content, so theoretically, I'm the guy they're trying to win back by adding that content back in, and honestly, I feel tricked by the marketing.

The single player campaign of this game is a joke... the writing is mediocre, the gameplay is dull, and the premise that was advertised is abandoned pretty much immediately. Add to all this, that it was incredibly short... clearly a tacked on feature, not a core experience for a 60$ price point. All in all, it just wasn't any fun. The MP is fine, but nothing really sets it apart for me from anything else I've played, with a Star Wars re-skin. I got bored after 10 hours and wandered off to play something else.

I wasn't expecting a Witcher 3 level experience or anything, but if you're going to offer single player, you can't make it shorter and less detailed than your average Call of Duty snooze-fest...

Combar sucks. Weapons feel like toys. Shooting something has noo feedback. There's huge amount of clutter on the screen along with flashy animations.

the perk system is rage inducing. They give HUGE and OBVIOUS advantage to the owner. Some of them buff "spacial classes" to the point where they SLAUGHTER whole groups of enemies without giving any chance of fighting back.

Players who have invested time (or money) will always beat you out in a straight firefight because of their advantage in starcards and ability cards

Weapons do not seem better than the ones before, but only different. Some might be better at range while others have a higher rate of fire, but they aren't all around better for investing time into'

Given the game's monetization model and progression stopping loot box system at the center of the game, 3/10 is being generous (and that's mostly for the visuals and immersion). If loot boxes are removed and replaced with a better progression system (that is not RNG-based and unrewarding) I could still only see the game getting a 7/10 due to limited gameplay options and removal of past title's innovative tactics. This version of the game comes with everything that used to be P2W and all the (non-achievement related) cosmetics unlocked for free (rendering the in-game currency you earn utterly pointless, and thankfully meaning no macro-transactions/gambling boxes).

    PROS
DICE have captured the look and feel of the Star Wars universe perfectly, as they did with the first Battlefront. The sound of the blaster fire, the hum and hiss of the lightsabers, even the stormtrooper's boots slamming into the metal flooring... all perfect.

    CONS
After a few hours play it becomes apparent that this game is a thin Star Wars veneer slapped over a mediocre, at best average, shooter. Even with all the predatory macro-transactions/gambling loot boxes removed, it is painfully clear that the game was designed from the ground up around those principles.

The starting guns are super weak (especially the Specialist, who is an absolute chore to level as their starting kit is arguably the worst in the game. 2+ headshots required to kill someone with their sniper rifle, made worse with the spam dodging) which is further compounded by not having access to any of the better weapons or loadout cards that can give characters a significant boost to their damage and/or survivability. Plenty of other games (like COD for example) have the better equipment and guns locked behind levels, but in those games I never felt that the disadvantage for not having access to those weapons was so marked and extreme. And this is even more pronounced when you see people with fully kitted out hero/villain characters.

The maps and spawns are cluttered, especially on the smaller game modes. And the bigger maps are often a maze-like convoluted mess. Combined with the above issues, as a starting player, you had better get used to long and confusing runs back to the action (unless you are fortunate enough to be able to spawn on a squad-mate who isn't engaged in combat). Which unfortunately can result in you spending 2-3 minutes running back only to appear through a door near the capture point and get one-shot by an enemy hero/villain, or just a normal trooper with the better gear from a side spawn that you had no idea was there.

Ultimately I have played this game for about 8 hours now to give it a good shot, and will probably play some more (as my friends also picked it up), but I cannot imagine they will want to play it for more than a single evening before returning to other games. And I cannot see this game still taking up install space in a weeks time. Definitely do NOT buy it, unless it is heavily discounted and you happen to be a real fan of the Star Wars universe. The only reason it got a three score was because it was free. If I had actually paid for this game, then the score would definitely be lower.

TL:DR - A beautiful game that captured the look and feel of the Star Wars universe incredibly well.
But after a few hours the novelty wears off and you get to see it for what it is. A middling to below average shooter. A convoluted mess of a game, and despite the predatory rubbish having been removed it's obvious that it was built on a foundation of micro-transactions, gambling and P2W.

To be frank, the Campaign was just terrible, I mean have no intensions of replaying it, the screen resolution on 4K was not gorgeous it was choppy, and didnt look very good at all, graphics over hyped, and a lot of the features and promises made seem to have been empty like my pockets.

This is the last EA Game I will invest in for the entirety of 2017 & 2018... maybe 2019. And here is why!

    Star Wars Battlefront 2 Campaign
Extremely Short - Very Cut and Dry Mission Running with ultimately no options other than just Blast them!
Wonky Controls - Kind of glad they can be changed in Keybindings but seriously who uses G as a Activation Button?!
Bad Acting - Gameplay usually helps allievate bad acting however when the gameplay is bad, this makes it x3 worse, that I / you have to endure it longer than it needs to be.
Its not a Role of One like it seemed in the trailers, its a role of many, kind of like you get to play everyone in Star Wars you never really wanted to play, and not for comic effect either (Again Bad Acting).
Decisions, Decision, Decisisons... yea not really, again a cut and dry action campaign, there are no decisions, they are no reactions.
Like Playing a Movie... No Not really, like playing a mistake,

EA fore shame, I won't be surprised if they turn heel like Mass Effect Andromeda and drop it too...
    What a crappy experience.

-For what it's worth, unlike the 2015 one, Battlefront 2 does have a single player campaign.

    Cons:
-The single player is boring. It might as well have been a 2 hour long cutscene because that's what it felt like. Shriv was awesome though.
-Now onto the part of why most people bought this game. The multiplayer. And.....it's the same as the 2014 version. Only now with an even worse grinding system than the first one, way more cheaper respawns and deaths and the lootboxes. Good God the lootboxes. I mean honestly. How can publishers and developers still think that this is a good idea. When the game is F2P i can kinda understand (you gotta make money off the game somehow) but a full priced 60 dollar game with a 100 dollar collector's edition doesn't need a gambling system to make more money surely right?

You know i was thinking of giving this game a 5/10 because at least it had a single player campaign but the more i'm writing this the more i'm remembering the unpleasant time i had with Battlefront 2. So **** it, 2/10 it is. I actually had more fun with the 2015 Battlefront than this

This absolutely stunningly beautiful game could have been great - but it's not. It's not even good, although it could have been with just a few minor gameplay changes.

    My main complaints are:
    - The matchmaking, or rather the lack thereof. In one game I played the two top scoring players in one team had more than twice as many kills as the entire other team. And this wasn't just a fluke; most games were extremely one-sided. Either my team totally dominated, or the other. Only one game in ten got exiting in the end.
    - Want to join the game along with a group of friends? Prepare to be disappointed. On our first attempt me and my two friends ended up not only on opposing team, but ON DIFFERENT SERVERS. And again, this wasn't just a fluke, it happened on multiple occasions.
    - So, you and your friends managed to end up on the same server? Want to play together as a squad? Think again, there are no squads! You simply end up spawning together with the last few teammates to die. So, in a good game, you might occasionally see your mates somewhere accross the other side of the map. But you'll never fight the enemy together.
    - Want to experience the forests of Endor? Or would you rather go to Naboo? EA doesn't care about your preferences. They'll send you to whatever map they see fit.
    - Although the game cards with power ups makes for a pretty fun way to level up characters this feature gives experienced (and oftentimes better) players an unfair advantage versus less experienced first timers. So, as a new player, prepare to die. A lot.
    - The maps, and the objectives, seem more focused on creating beautiful environments than offering interesting gameplay.

Besides of these faults I find that the game play lack in depth. For one I never feel back about dieing; I'll just pop right back up with another character within a few moments. It's as if my life isn't valuable at all. What if some of my abilities unlocked over time? Or what if me dieing meant that our team lost a spawn point (in case no other teammate was in the area)? What if there was something to make every playthough feel unique?

So, I ended up paying something like $4 to access this game on Origin Access. Don't think it was worth it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really wanted to like SWBFII, but I just don't. Despite the microtransactions, this game is a generally terrible game.

    CAMPAIGN:
I was very excited for the campaign in Star Wars Battlefront II, getting to play as someone from the Empire's side to see their point of view looked very interesting. However, the campaign was anything but interesting. The campaign felt like pointless shooting and running around. And not to mention, the main protagonist turned to the Rebels about 5 missions in, going against the whole point of seeing something from the Empire's point of view. Overall, a disappointing and bad campaign.

    MULTIPLAYER:
I have always liked Star Wars Battlefront multiplayer, big 20 v 20 battles with heaps of vehicles, heroes and action. However, Star Wars Battlefront II's multiplayer isn't that.

The Battlepoints system is trash, the reason being that you will have sweaty kids running around at the start of the game trying so hard to get their Battlepoints so they can unlock their heroes. So then about 5 little sweats unlock their heroes and play as them for the rest of the game. This completely ruins it for the newer, less skilled or casual players who want to experience Battlefront II. Every time I would save enough Battlepoints to unlock a hero, it would go to the spawn screen and have the message pop up saying "Max number in play", what a disappointment. And I will never get to play as a hero that game either, since the sweats that unlock the heroes at the start, stay as heroes the whole game since now heroes have health regen. That's why I liked the original random drop system in Battlefront (2015), this would give the opportunity for any lucky player to stumble upon a hero pickup and get to play as their favourite character. Yes, there would be people who'd learn the spots and simply sit there and wait, but that could've easily been fixed by generating them randomly at random positions. Not to mention how very little heroes there are in the game.

Battlefront II's servers are absolute trash. I play with 22ms ping to the Australian server and still manage to rubberband, get shot behind corners and aim directly at someone yet have no shots hit. I don't know why this is happening, but it is. So many other players complain about this in the game chat so I know it is not a problem specific to me (I have cable internet with 11ms, 115mbps down & 2mbps up) according to speedtest.net, so I know my internet is not the problem.

The matchmaking and team balance in Battlefront II is a mess. Every game I play is one-sided. Either we are getting smashed or smashing the other team. This ties in with the hero and Battlepoints problem I stated earlier, there are always those 3 or 4 people who stay in heroes the whole game and never seem to die, making them smash everyone else and making the game not fun.

The vehicle balancing in SWBFII is absolutely horrible. Especially when I play on any map with AT ST's. There will always be those two players spending the whole game in their AT-ST while everyone on the Rebel side gets basically nothing. There needs to be a specific class made for blowing sh*t up, which would make vehicles so much more manageable.

Overall, Star Wars Battlefront II is a generally terrible game and I have had very little fun playing it. I 100% regret buying this and since I bought a physical copy with a code inside, I have no way of refunding it. DICE need to make major changes to this game to persuade me to come back. For the meantime, I'll be sticking with Titanfall 2.

P2W add-on also makes the game worse to play as players are not in even position vs each other.
But this is only part of problem - another is cards system itself which ENORMOUSLY affect the base stats of weapons or charcter gameplay. A lot of nerf will be in future - plz remember my words.
Server selection screen is again idiotic - "new matchmaking" instead of classic browser with filter.
No normal conquest mode. Gameplay is very chaotic (vs Battlefield, TF and BFront 1) (not due to the levels - they are more or less - but due to idiotic game modes and only 40 persons cap). Squad selection is also not very friendly. No spots. Minimap is useless. Hud is useless. No fell of SW battles at all.
Weapons maybe canon, but they are way to arcade. In Battlefront 1 they were more "solid", does not know how to explain this...

Graphisc are good as well as stilistics - this is really Star Wars. But this is only Pro.

Anyway - i would not recommend the game in the state as it is now. What i afraid - by the time ll fixes and addons will be made - the servers will be empty. A pity, really.

This game is flawed on multiple levels and any objective person who would be able to see that.

    Cons:
    - Progression in this game is absolutely terrible. Once you have completed all the challenges and used up the initial inflow of credits, it becomes a terrible grind to unlock characters or get crates.
    - Maps are imbalanced and usually favors one side.
    - Farming (by either killing AIs or AFK farming) is rampant. AI farming can also have a snowball effect.
    - Servers are really bad. The lag and rubber-banding makes MP a terrible experience. Some game modes are pretty much unplayable.
    - The mechanics of the game still works against you. You should be able to unlock almost every card with about 100ish hour of gameplay. Right now after 30 hours, I hardly have 10% of the cards and its just downhill from here.
    -

    Pros:
    1. The game looks beautiful. The maps are diverse and each map gives you a different feel.

This is definitely not a game by gamers to gamers. It's just another product for a specific demographic that serves as nothing more than a money-making platform.

Despite the great things about this game, you can't ignore the purposefully limited (and severely restricted) progression, uninspired story mode, Single-player lacking on features, and, of course, the whole inexcusable and embarrassing PR approach from EA.

If this game was done 10 years ago, it would've been a masterpiece. Back when developers made great games in order to make money to make more amazing games. We live in dark times.

My suggestion is an overhaul to the progression system that makes it fun and fair for the player and addition of all the multiplayer features to single-player. If they want to charge for DLC, then great! Just make sure they are expansions, rich in content. DLC/Expansions are great and worth it, when done right.

8 hours later, I really want to play this game to enjoy the wonderful world of Star Wars, but after this short amount of time, I don't really feel like starting the game anymore. Getting 100cr per battle, limited Arcade options and an extremely short and lackluster story gives this game ZERO replay value.

Now the important topic here is a continuation of my Battlefront 2015 review. The beta cuck SJW retard snowflake I was talking about said that the so called "seam bursting cliches" even though it's a fact that the hypocritical retard is a cliche SJW himself and it's a fact as well that "seam bursting cliches" don't exist and it's just woketarded SJW snowflake propaganda, says that they "call to mind the bodacious sex-dolls of Dead or Alive Volleyball" even though they aren't "sex-dolls" and that's fact, it's not actually similar to any of Bowsette's porn at all and that's fact and they don't call to mind Dead or Alive Volleyball and that's fact, can the retarded cucks on the far left like the retarded website like Esquire that has retarded "journalists" who don't know piss about video games piss off about things they fail miserably to actually be knowledgeable on? That would be nice and not embarrassing, thank you. Another SJW retard, this time from Ars Technica, another retarded hack fraud website where the retarded "journalist" named Sam Machkovech "attributed"(more like falsely claimed) some of Bowsette's popularity to how it contrasted against Peach, stating(falsely claiming) the fan art's focus on a "more muscular, less svelte figure lets Peach look a little less Barbie proportioned". Peach isn't "Barbie proportioned" and she wasn't ever "Barbie proportioned" and it lets her be a little less nothing since it does nothing and all of that is fact. Lastly, some cancerous tranny of The Daily Dot named Ana Valens noted the character's broad appeal,(more like barely acknowledged to be honest) but also as a "relatable" figure for trans women. CANCEEEER. Bowsette's not genuinely "relatable" for trans women and that's fact you retard, but keep lying to yourself, you won't ever actually biologically be women and that's fact. And you noted jack piss, she's not relatable for trans women, fact, it had the retard stating(falsely claiming) "Bowsette is exactly how we see ourselves: We went from self hating, gender dysphoric creatures and turned into happy confident women." Ugh, traps. Enjoy your false happiness, you're in torment even now. And Bowsette is not exactly how "we"(trannies) see yourselves: and that's fact. Bowsette is a fusion of peach therefore not actually trans but hermaphrodite if anything and Bowser is FACTUALLY not "gender dysphoric" and that's why he kidnaps Peach and is male, he's not actually a trap like you queers. And Bowser hadn't turned into any "happy confident women" you cancertard and that's fact.

Everything I have said here is fact, don't like it then you are retarded. I don't personally have anything against gays or transgender people of course, but SJW cancer like this is unbelievably horrid. It's like you have to be vitriolic in order to combat it, not "transphobic" or anything but projection is retarded and that's fact. Don't project and it might not be retarded. Bowser and Peach are great and iconic characters and companies like Nintendo and Square Enix are good companies that that have all their employees be talented and that's fact as well, for example Dragon Quest 11 or xi isn't "overly traditional" and that's fact, it is a masterpiece of a game and those complaining about what the game is like are factually retarded, closed minded "critics" and that's fact. Not many others complained about the game though, actually not many at all complained or criticized Dragon Quest 11 or xi and that's fact. Everything I have said as a response to something in this review is a fact.

Anyways, this review is a continuation of my Battlefront 2015 review.

Anyways, by that retarded logic, the retarded stereotypes made by the braindead retarded cumchugging pedophile Americans in a vocal minority about anime and manga would make every creator, even respected ones like Ghibli because of their "merchandise" and some retarded haters online sell their merchandise or have difficulty doing so because of a retarded vocal minority's stereotypes a "Fallen Creator" even though they are instead examples of "Creator Worship" like Square Enix is. Now lastly, they brought up Square Enix's view of the popularity of their games, Square Enix's view of the popularity of their games is factually that Final Fantasy is wildly successful overseas and in Japan where their target audience is since Square Enix is in Japan. Dragon Quest wasn't as successful in the West overall as it was in the East for awhile. That's perfectly fine and it's a fact their fans know that as well since Japan is their target audience and localization takes time. Dragon Quest xi especially took awhile and it is considered by Square Enix but more specifically Dragon Quest fans to be a masterpiece and is another thing especially more recently Square Enix is positively known for. That's a fact. there may have been a time where they weren't AS well liked but as a company they were always generally well liked by their fans, the public and haven't ever "fallen out of public favor" and that's a fact. They've always been a good company and that's fact, despite the mistakes they've made. Lastly was that Kingdom Hearts was especially popular in Japan but especially as well in the West and that the series is a pretty considerable success. The retards named "tropers" attempted to say that it's a series that has a "Kudzu Plot" and that that apparently makes the fans not like the series even though the facts point to the opposite and that complex story or not, it's a well liked series. And Kingdom Hearts doesn't have a "Kudzu plot" either you retards and that's fact, Tetsuya Nomura made the decision to make the most complex story he is able and make it work, not Square Enix. It's a pretty complex story but it has no "Kudzu Plot" and that's fact. Also, trope-speak is retarded cancer, it's like listening to a retard after he injects heroin into his balls. Square Enix though as well as the Bravely Default Team were overwhelmed by the sheer amount of positive fan feedback and it lead to Square Enix considering to make more games similar to Bravely Default. That's an extraordinarily positive fan and company relationship. Not to mention Square Enix made games like The World Ends With You which gave them a pretty considerable amount of additional respect as well. They helped PlatinumGames work on Nier: Automata as well and that gave Platinum Games as well as Square Enix even more respect, Square Enix as well decided not to have any DRM for their games. Lastly the development hell for FFXV doesn't change anything honestly, yeah it's not the masterpiece it was thought it was going to be but it's a pretty great game either way, the development hell there was divisive but not genuinely negative for Square Enix at any rate and that's fact. The fact it managed to be a pretty great game despite the development issues speaks volumes by itself. Also no matter what some retarded braindead cucktards on a retarded cumchugging pedophile website like may say, Square Enix is factually a good company, they are factually considered a good company, they are factually generally well liked by their fans as well if not worshiped by their fans, they factually have always been in the favor of the overall public, a vocal minority of braindead American retards don't matter at all in an actual reputation and that's fact, they factually haven't ever fallen out of favor with the general public and they factually won't ever, they clearly haven't and you can tell by looking at the sheer positivity and positive feedback of their fans as well as their constant overall support and they are well liked by the public or not "out of favor" with the general public, not necessarily liked or disliked. Square Enix though is a good company, is in favor with the public and generally pretty well liked by their fans and that's all fact. Everything I have said here in response is fact. Disagree and you are factually wrong and retarded, I speak the truth about retards.

Also there is not "Star Fox knockoff" or "Space Invaders knockoff" in Nier: Automata and it's not too inconsistent either and that's all fact, even though knockoff or the word knockoff doesn't necessarily indicate anything negative. Nier: Automata is a masterpiece as well. As are games like Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts 2 and likely Kingdom Hearts 3 will be. Virtually every Kingdom Hearts game is pretty excellent though actually.

Everything that I have said in response in this review is fact.

With MTX disabled, as logical damage control, you realize how much you actually have to grind in this game to get somewhere. It's a treadmill and you have to keep playing, since the progression is tied to upgrades, unlike Overwatch, where you get everything gameplay right from the start. So they create a powercreep and Veterans/players who simply spend more time, will be stronger by default and not by trheir skill alone.

Also very important, the lootboxes are currently disabled, since they don't wanna be the guys who offer gambling for kids on releaseday and save their precious sales. But P2W is still very present. You can still buy the Deluxe Edition, which gives you epic Star Card upgrades for $20 more and the P2W system was active the whole beta, they just turned it off before release. So all the whales could buy all the lootcrates they want and have a huge advantage now, while all the underequipped lowbies become cannonfodder to these people. There is no reset, people keep their progression and bought stuff.

This game is a disgrace and EA is a morally bankrupt company, preying on their gullible targetaudience who can be treated like dogs.

People said they removed micro-transactions, but they only removed P2W ones. You can still buy cosmetics with crystals which are 1USD/100...
The progression system is unbalanced still, because it was designed to be P2W.
Matchmaking is bad, it will put you in a match just about to end so you have to wait another couple minutes for the next match/to load.

Just some good/great games that DO NOT have micro transaction bullcrap tied to them. Do any micro transaction games like codww2, assassins creed origins, forza 7, overwatch, destiny 1/2, battle field 1, halo 5, gears 4, and of course this crappy star wars game, have ANYTHING close to the level of greatness of those titles I just mentioned? NO! They don't... You're not really missing out here if you refuse to play/purchase this game. ESPECIALLY this one.

I realize that if I did play this crappy game I would have a more clear understanding of how bad it is in greater detail. That's not necessary though... At least not for me.

You see... I'm 30 and been gaming since I was like 2 or some crap. It's my biggest hobby and I never stopped. So I have some experience in the gaming world and have decent/good/great taste in video game quality. In other words... I have standards and you can take my thoughts seriously enough. So since that's the case with me... I can tell you right now for a fact that this game is poison for the gaming world.

Wake up my fellow gamers. I know most of you guys are sheep who would buy a turd off the game stop shelf if it had star wars etched onto it's surface... But that's why you should learn from your mistakes. I once too was a retarded fanboy loser who defended companies that I liked no matter what. What happened? I grew up... I got smart... I became capable of detecting turds like this game coming from a mile away. So what if I haven't played this game? You don't have to play a crappy game to know that it's a crappy game. A little bit of research and gaming experience with common sense should figure that out for you. I don't have to eat a pile of dog crap to know that it tastes like dog crap do I? I never been stabbed in my hand with a big knight before but I know it would be very unpleasant!

Us TRUE gamers have good instincts about this sort of stuff. You ever see those tests where they show a baby a picture of a scary looking spider or a snake that looks like it's about to bite you? In those tests the babies often get scared. That's because it's basic human nature to be scared of stuff like that. We grew up and evolved with these creatures for such a long time that it's in our genetic make up to be afraid of those things because they can hurt/kill us. Instincts yo! Well guess what guys? With TRUE gamers the feeling is similar when we hold our wallets whilst wondering how we would feel if we were to waste our money a crappy game like payupfront2.

The micro transactions in this game are on a level of butt ****ery that's never before been seen until now. This is a bad joke turned real life unto the gaming world folks. As gaming evolves... So do micro transactions. This is the next level of evolution for micro transactions.

I been fighting micro transactions for years now. Ever since I bought Destiny 1 and realized I made one of the biggest gaming mistakes of my life. That game opened my eyes to how lame micro transaction games are. Bungie gave me nothing but great/good halo game experiences for a decade and then they give us destiny which totally sucked. I was heart broken. But it was a wake up call. From that moment forward I smartened up and learned to not support micro transaction games at all costs.

A lot of sheep have told me that I'm being too extreme. That a lot of micro transactions are not that bad. Really? Well good job kids. It's morons like you who are letting companies like EA put out horribly micro transaction rich games like this one.

Some folks say that if the micro transactions are cosmetic only it's not a problem. I disagree. Remember old fighting games where you could unlock costumes of characters by accomplishing certain challenges? That was great! Gave you incentive to play the game and get better. Now you just buy it... LAME! Also devs only have so much time to make the game as good as it can be. If they waste time making a crappy micro transaction system then that's precious time lost that they could have spent on making the game actually better. And finally... Yeah sure cosmetic only micro transactions may be much better than pay to win/one time use type micro transactions but it's still a gate way to future games making micro transactions worse and worse. And now look... Here we are... The worst micro transaction game yet(as far as I know) or at least the most popular worst micro transaction game yet. Give em a inch and they will take a mile...

I gave it a 1 which I know is kind of high but hey... I'm a nice guy : )

Remember when you could buy a game and it'd be a finished product? EA expects you to drop 80+ dollars on this game that can't even function properly. With only a week and a half under its belt, Battlefront II's servers are constantly plagued by rubber banding and server lag. It makes it literally unplayable for their own buyers. The overbearing microtransactions are gone for the moment, but this is only because Disney forced EA to pull them and redesign them. However it JUST slipped their minds that with the microtransactions gone, the only way to progress and level up your character is to farm credits bit by bit in a painfully slow grind via the mindless, boring arcade or the woefully unbalanced multiplayer.

Now let me make this clear; Battlefront I ran off pure cheese and Battlefront II is no different. I understand this and accept this. I managed to eke out a reasonable amount of fun from the first game when I adapted to the inane madness that is its multiplayer. But Battlefront II gives you no time at all to do this. Since the real life money loot box system got pulled, EA also removed the credit reward based on match performance. It's now tied to time spent in the match. You'll be lucky to have a match last longer than 7 or 8 minutes because each mode feels deliberately designed to be short and generally unsatisfying. There are several maps to play on but there is no rhyme or reason as to which ones are selected, leading to some maps being overplayed and some barely at all. 33 hours in and I've played on Hoth twice, but Naboo probably 10+ times via Galactic Assault.

The single point in this review goes towards the hero balance. DICE actually managed to pull this part off quite nicely; Heroes are fair, balanced and require skill. Careful application of abilities is tantamount to survival and performing well. No longer are heroes random god pickups that allow players to gain an unfair advantage and go on a rampage against the enemy team. It's entirely possible to still do this but it's also entirely possible for a random stormtrooper to put you down from a few well placed shots. Once again I find myself writing that Heroes vs Villains is the only game mode I genuinely enjoyed. Oh, and NO, I am not giving it extra points for the graphics and sound design. Battlefront 1 already had that down, and it's not like making a game look and sound amazing with the Frostbite engine is something fresh and new, it's expected by now. Unfortunately for all of us shiny, fancy graphics doesn't make for a good game.

There is a campaign but does that even deserve writing? It's your average six hours long, head shot simulator shooting gallery and the story is complete garbage. To spare you the details if you absolutely insist on playing it, if you were hoping for a chance to fight for the Empire and see some explanation as to what happened between episodes 6 and 7, fat chance. All it does is confuse things even more and ham-fist a corny, completely obvious and uninteresting, nonsensical plot into your face at every given opportunity. And yes, this IS canon because Disney. Anybody else wish Legends was still canon? I know I do.

Overall, a laughable excuse for a game of this caliber. I hold little hope that DICE, an actually talented and well oiled machine that CAN make great games, will manage to work past EA's negligence and incompetence to patch the stupid bugs, server lag and other problems for a salvageable experience. Save yourself the trouble of suffering with the rest of us and wait, or go play the original Battlefront II.

EVERY parent should avoid getting this game for their kids/teenagers.
Though the game might have most of the Star Wars hard candy goodies, the game can only be as much fun as you able to stomach the gross imbalance, bugs, and the in-your-face abuse of consumers via PAY TO WIN lootcrates etc.

As of the time of writing this, there are some fun videos floating around of someone who paid for a fully upgraded Vader playing horribly and absolutely wrecking everyone in the match. Just go watch it and then decide if this game looks fun.

Also, the disingenuous PR stunt that is removing loot crates and paid currency only to promise adding it back in later is disgusting. Go to hell EA. Dice deserves the inevitable death-by-EA that is coming to it for becoming corporate shills.

They are part of this, and when I say DICE I don't mean every creative individual that works there, I mean the collective DICE, that falls under EA.

I mean yes this is a great game, but the business model on top of it is completely out of this world, and THEY know it, they know that if they fail anyway, then they will just be able to pull that old marketing strategy of "We listened to the player", and if they don't fail, well, you can say goodbye to your favorite hobby (Well, not entirely, but still, you wouldn't be able to play really polished triple A blockbuster titles anymore)

P2W aspects might still fully be in the game after they re-enable "the ability to purchase crystals in-game at a later date". People should NOT go out and buy the game just because of this statement by EA. A wait and see approach to the statement made is the best course of action at this time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I love Star Wars. I have been called one-sided, fanboy and more by my friends on this subject, so I may not as objective as one could be.

I liked the first re-release from DICE aka SWBF 2015. It had its share of DICE issues, bugs.. but gameplay was fun for me.

SWBF2 2017, is not. It has WAY fewer bugs for me, it is very polished to my eyes. When teams are fair and balanced, I have enjoyed it.. when it was fresh and the maps were unknown to me.

Now that I have 60+ hours in it, I must say I am disappointed. Bored even. Everything is very predictable, most matches run the same way. Not much adrenaline is flowing, even when it's close. I just don't get involved as much..

I am trying to convey what exactly it is but I think it is the entire thing that is the problem. The hole pay-to-win issue, the way each match plays out, the lack of something being at stake..

When we lose we get 200 to 500 in-game currency. When we win... it's the same. Not that it all hinges on rewards, it is just one thing of many.

The loot-box system is ok... I see this as another way to progress a player and I get it. It's not super fun but now that I understand it, I am fine with it.

The pay-to-win issue I am not! The entire microtransaction industry needs to step it down a few 1000% or so. I HATE money, I HATE the way it makes people act and shape the world. It ONLY brings evil with it and all I care, it can just hide in the darkest pit of non-existence. Which is why I give it this low a score when the game itself not that bad.

But back to SWBF2, once you see the that loot-boxes are nothing more than crafting parts used to level up your cards, it is fine, it is just not particularly fun. The short of it is very simple.
Play to get in-game currency. Play a lot! Buy crates, well the Hero crate only, because it is the cheapest and crafting parts amount is the same for all crates. Each crate will give you cards and parts. In the beginning when you have very few cards, each crate will cost 2200. As you unlock more and more cards, you get refunded for duplicate cards at the level you have it at. If the new cards is of higher level you of course get a level up. So for a level 1 crate with 3 cards, you get 3x200=600 back, lowering the price of the crate to 1600.

Crafting parts range from 35 to 55, from what I have seen in my games. One card is 40(grey) parts to unlock, 80(green) to get to next level, 120(blue) and 480(purple) to highest. So you need to play MANY hours to even get fully unlocked.

I got around 450-500 hours in SWBF.. I liked every bit of it, the game that is. Not the cheaters. Not the early bugs and the ones DICE never fixed. But SWBF2 is a genuine flop in my book. Well-made, boring and not as much content as we were told it would have.

Last thing I don't like is the way classes get to select cards. It is too slow, complex, combersum. It should be less menu>double click>esc>menu>double click........ ect ect ect..

The good parts of SWBF2 are the battle point system, graphics, sounds, most of the menus, netcode and/or shooting mechanics, aiming, space flight and campaign. I freaking LOVE all that!

No match has yet felt over populated with the wrong player classes so they can über dominate the map. That balance DICE got super perfect. Best I have seen in a MMO game.

Graphics and the way it scales to lower end machines, almost perfect! A bit of stuttering when maps load up but not much else.

Netcode aka hit registration is much better then SWBF1. I never got to a point where I liked the shooting mechanics of that game but this feels natural, I get how it all works.

Space fighting is AWESOME! I truly feel like I have a chance and that I get what is going on and how to play the game. Wish ground fighting way this fun.

Campaign is shot but I liked it. Could have stayed on the Empire side way longer, that felt very rushed but all in all I was entertained.

Even the tinsel of the Star Wars world cannot hide the silly story and the boring singleplayer gameplay, or the necessity to accumulate the credits in the crate hunting in multiplayer.
