    after years of developing the stalker game rejoiced players from Ukraine and other countries,i think it`s one of the best games from 2000.

    Unlike the sequel prequel CS and the sequel CoP I do play and beat SoC out of the box. CS needs atleast the SRP bug fixer. While CoP needs atleast the Absolute Nature mod to make in not like utter dated crap visually.

    Revisting this game after a long time away on Master difficulty. IRL I can snap aim, squeeze off fast, reload quick and hit targets with a high degree of precision.     Revisting this game after a long time away on Master difficulty. IRL I can snap aim, squeeze off fast, reload quick and hit targets with a high degree of precision. So the slow cumbersome clunky combat is the least interesting part of the game from my perspective.

    The hit boxes are kind of off more so with iron sights/early weapons. Reloading, sighting and semi auto animations are so slow. Shots not registering through the obvious gaps in cover can be a nightmare. So my advice is don’t worry about cheap deaths due to bad game design.

    The things I do really like about Stalker is the exploring the environment, tackling hazards, facing creatures, siding with factions, reading the lore.

    Graphically and animation wise this game is dated (even with eye candy mods). That being said putting the negatives aside this game does have a really tense atmosphere (with looting the most). The whole game generally has that run down look. With (semi) abandoned building with a condemned look. So the ambient sounds more so at night can be really spooky and creepy at times indoors and out.

    With more tighter shooting mechanics this would of been a great game series. I really do like Stalker, but it is unpolished, dated, clunky and even janky at times. Oh that end game shakey cam is going to lead to even more cheap deaths.

    Yeah the ZRP mod adds the tweaks that the newer games implement, I can play this without mods unlike CS and CoP. The 9/10 fun factor of SoC is way higher than the low 6/10 technical score.    … Expand

    Shadow of Chernobyl is in my opinion one of the best games ever created. It combines awesome story telling with an atmospheric environment that sends chills down your spine. The AI fells almost like an actual player because it doesn't just sit around waiting to get shot, the AI tries flanking, it tries to shoot when you are reloading and searches for cover.     The game is already extremely in the years unfortunately.
    Gameplay is not so good and sometimes dies immediately because of a hit!?
    Graphics you can of course expect nothing but the story is quite nice.
    The game has strong problems at 4K resolution. Fonts are much too small and the graphics card permanently stews at 90° Celsius, which is very questionable for a 16 year old game.

    Absolutely deserved 8 for such a unique atmosphere, and filling the game world with various items and tasks mixed up with the story missions. From what run all over the map in search of new artifacts and opportunities to earn extra money is not boring. The variability of endings by the original as well as impressive.

    I played STALKER in 2008 and again a few months ago. The graphics are a little eye-searing, but the music, audio effects, and story atmosphere are still on top.
    In my opinion, the game deserves a place in the history of the gaming industry.

    I decided to pick up STALKER off the back of all the hype for its long awaited sequel, due to drop in 2023 at some point. Playing it now some 15yrs later, I'm blown away by how good this game is, as most look incredibly dated. Gritty, grim, edgy, the graphics of the zone while dated now, still look good, but the star of this game is the AI of the NPC's and the gun mechanics and combat.I decided to pick up STALKER off the back of all the hype for its long awaited sequel, due to drop in 2023 at some point. Playing it now some 15yrs later, I'm blown away by how good this game is, as most look incredibly dated. Gritty, grim, edgy, the graphics of the zone while dated now, still look good, but the star of this game is the AI of the NPC's and the gun mechanics and combat.

    Genuinely some of the best still that I've come across, it feels raw and authentic. You can be taken out by NPC's making their way around to flank you from behind when you're pinned if you're not careful. Don't expect them to walk through a door into your double barrel shotgun, they'll be happy to sit back and wait for you to make a move if it looks unsafe.

    Then there's the dystopian plot with the great maps. The mutants, radiation, artefacts.. it's all been so much fun. I'm about 25hrs in and have blended about half the time on the main contract, and half on side quests, which with hindsight is the right approach. Rushing too much on the main contract would probably lead to a less satisfying play experience, and were they designing it today, I would hope they would not unlock further stages until more side quests or play time was accumulated, to prevent that.

    I'm giving this a rare 10/10 for the reason that this is clearly a genre defining classic. For a game to be THIS good 15yrs after release is frankly insane. It should be clunky, crude and while fun also quite laughable at times, in the way Fallout New Vegas is for example. But this isn't: I think it comes down to the amount of time built into the AI, and the weapon/combat mechanics, which are the core of STALKER.

    For anybody who's not checked it out, it's so cheap now that I can't recommend it highly enough for hours of fun. And a great way to build up for the release of STALKER 2, which I'll 100% now be buying on release.    … Expand

    In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. there are no bugs, only anomalies. Without doubt the greatest openworld survival horror game that exists. The only openworld survival game that has great replaybility in my opinion. Life in the Zone is harsh and weapons scarce. The gameplay is eerily immersive and haunting in way that can't be explained. Cheeki Breeki to all the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s out there still lost in the Zone.

    I started playing in 2015, then I abandoned it, and after 7 years I came back to play again, I hope the second part will be less problematic than this one, yes there were crashes, bugs, but nevertheless, I want to support the Ukrainian company, and I hope that The second part of the Stalker will be good.

    The best part of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R., without a doubt. How that game sticks you to itself by unique ambient — couldn't find the words for it. if you want a classic game — here it is. I doubt that games like this one will be released in the future.

    I have no words to describe this masterpiece. "Shadow Of Chernobyl" is my favorite part of the game. I admire everything: plot, characters, atmosphere, riddles, stashes and even bugs sometimes. You have to play this game.

    If in 2020 I can play this game,if I feel same as wheniI encounter bloodsucker first time, that's mean basically that; Shadow of Chernobyl is a solid masterpiece :) 15 year after still have great atmosphere and this game is aging really well , i mean 3d games getting older quickly but after 15 year no any game can get close to thoose stalker games still best atmosphere :)

Зачастую при диалогах npc просто молчат. Открытый мир и РПГ элементы не очень идут играм того времени. Игра устарела. В наше время играть неинтересно.Катсцены довольно-таки кинематографичные. Атмосфера тащит по сути всю игру и скрашивает все баги и прочие проблемы у игры, квесты и прочее тоже нет смысла о них говорить, часть вообще багается либо ломается при любом удобном случаи.     Atmosphere so great you could cut it up, living breathing world where you don't need to be present for things to be happening around it. This alone is what makes this flawed masterpiece so memorable and you will find yourself coming back to this gem over and over years after your first playthrough.

    The interface is wonderful. You have so much information immediately available to you. Google Maps always has a minimap in the lower left corner, which gives you a good overview of the area. Getting information about people gives you a clear, clear window. Hacking offers a menu with easily recognizable icons, so you always know what your button presses will do.

    Доволі не погана ігра, яка порадує вас, як мінімум на кілька вечорів( не маленька) і яка привела до появи Чистого неба( моєї першої ігри з серії, що пішла на комп'ютері), Зову Прип'яті пізніше. Але грати після 2, 3 частини на першу не так сильно задовільняє/комфортно. Проте не дивлячись на це спробувати варто. 8.5/10(тому 9)Доволі не погана ігра, яка порадує вас, як мінімум на кілька вечорів( не маленька) і яка привела до появи Чистого неба( моєї першої ігри з серії, що пішла на комп'ютері), Зову Прип'яті пізніше.     Very atmospheric game. A bit janky at times, but solid 10/10 nonetheless. I recommend playing with Autumn Aurora 2 mod.

This game is one of the hardest games I've ever played, but the difficulty isn't to the point where I thought it was ever unfair. This game will not hold your hand, it gives you a few basic controls and sets you loose in this irradiated world. I really like this approach, it lets me figure out things for myself and really feel like I've accomplished something at the end. The gameplay mechanics actually still hold up today. The scavenging aspect is one of the best parts. There are no repair kits, you have to find new gear yourself. While most of the story is hidden behind optional dialogue, I found the story to be quite excellent. The AI is actually pretty decent even by today's standards (of course when it's not completely glitched out). This is one of the most atmospheric games I have ever played and is really the game's strongsuit. All the environments blow me away even today. Also Sidorovich is hot. Do yourself a favor and play on the max difficulty, it makes the bullet damage the highest and in my opinion is the fairest way to play. The enemy can kill you in a few shots but you kill them in a few shots too.

    НО!!! Только для тех, кто хочет пройти её и забить. Ну а если та начинаешь растягивать игру, пытаться получить всё оружие и броню, и, в общем, выжать игру до капли - то она пошлёт тебя на три хорошие буквы. Это всё потому, что допустим, ты прошёл все до локации Припять, а потом случайно перешел на ЧАЭС, то при попытке загрузки у тебя выскочит фатальная ошибка и    Бессмертная классика!

    Это всё потому, что допустим, ты прошёл все до локации Припять, а потом случайно перешел на ЧАЭС, то при попытке загрузки у тебя выскочит фатальная ошибка и завершение работы программы. То же самое случается и если ты пытаешься использовать бинты и прочие подобные расходники из контейнера, не забирая их в инвентарь. И подобных проблем, в целом, много.
    Однако игру я рекомендую. Ведь при первом прохождении, хоть я и немного погриндил, но с подобными проблемами не сталкивался.
    По этому, с точки зрения РПГ игры, с интересным сюжетом и т.д. - она готова. Но с точки зрения игрока, не желающего прощаться с игрой после её финала, наш Сталкерёнок не готов: ведь все перечисленные проблемы не появляются после потенциального финала - они всегда были, но чем дальше от старта ты уходишь тем больше усугубляется ситуация. По этому мой вам совет: держитесь подальше от ЧАЭС!!

    В преддверии второй части решил пройти "трилогию" и ТЧ это мрак, и ужас, хотя и со своими плюсами.

    Плюсы:
    1) атмосфера и левелдизайн - это сделано на высшем уровне, угнетённость, разруха, заброшки, серое небо над головой.
    2) звуковой фон великолепен.

    Вывод: плюсов хоть и мало, но они существенны. И мне действительно больше понравилась чем нет, но моментами игра бесила, что думал бросить, но в ней что-то есть, видно что сырой продукт но цепляет.    … Expand

    so the game is not for everybody, u must have patience to play this game as its kinda broken and likes to crash, but the story is great, gunplay and graphics is ok. i liked the game and recommend to play it

    S.T.A.L.K.E.R .: Shadow of Chernobyl. Remember everything while you are still alive. Insanely atmospheric and addictive game. The plot, gameplay, tasks, mutants and anomalies are all done at a high level. For a very long time, you do not want to leave the Exclusion Zone, so you play over and over again.

    Топ игра для своего времени, стрелялка с офигительным сеттингом, очевидно. Да есть куча багов, но и пёс с ними, да сюжет какой-то странный, но не обычный. Эта игра заслуживает быть пройденной не один раз

    STALKER is not a game about graphics(although it is already clear by the year of release), not about the plot, and not about the gameplay. STALKER is a game about the atmosphere of the Exclusion Zone, which is transmitted by the first game of this trilogy.

    Because I am from Ukraine STALKER franchise has always had a special place in hearts of my peers but I have never been a part of this fan-base as only in 2021 I got the chance to actually experience the game myself.
    Shadow of Chernobyl is full of technical glitches and bugs but at the same time you feel that this game was made with love, it has something many other games don't - soul.     Shadow of Chernobyl is full of technical glitches and bugs but at the same time you feel that this game was made with love, it has something many other games don't - soul. You can't explain it in words neither you can show it on screen - you can only experience it yourself.
    I am not a fan of the story here (or of the way it is told) as after some time you lose a view of the whole picture (in later parts it gets much better) but everything else is pretty much on point. The game is hard and unforgiving - thanks God you can always decrease your difficulty.
    Overall, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl isn't a great game by itself but it lays out necessary basis for the whole trilogy.    … Expand

    Имеет некоторые недостатки, но интересная идея! Зона отчуждения очень хорошая тема для игры много разных абсолютно разных группировок. Также много разных мутантов сюжет у которого 7 концовок из которых только 2 настоящие и игра очень атмосферная для 2007 года! В игре очень скучные и неинтересные дополнительные задания.Имеет некоторые недостатки, но интересная идея! Зона отчуждения очень хорошая тема для игры много разных абсолютно разных группировок.     Absolutely perfect atmosphere. However i didnt like the confused story line. Rather often you dont know why you are doing what you are doing and what is the motivation on other persons in the game. In global I miss the motivation for exloring this wonderfull world.

    I will not be verbose, - S.T.A.L.K.E.R .: Shadow of Chernobyl, this is the legend of the gaming industry. There is no such game, except S.T.A.L.K.E.R .: Shadow of Chernobyl, which I would play 5 times. It is so gorgeous that I even bought it on Steam, although I went through it from cover to cover before.
    Atmosphere. Gameplay. Story.

    Better than any fallout games (except new vegas). Great music, great atmosphere, great gameplay. It's not a surprise that the developer of metro had came out from stalker. GREAT GAME

Lo juego por primera vez con todo el hype de la buena fama que tiene la saga y es un juego que ha envejecido fatal en cuanto a gameplay, no hay casi recompensas por explorar, mecanicas de shooter muy toscas e injustas, misiones secundarias repetitivas a mas no poder.. y la historia que podria ser lo unico que se salve del paso del tiempo nada, nefasta. No te enteras deMuy decepcionante. Lo juego por primera vez con todo el hype de la buena fama que tiene la saga y es un juego que ha envejecido fatal en cuanto a gameplay, no hay casi recompensas por explorar, mecanicas de shooter muy toscas e injustas, misiones secundarias repetitivas a mas no poder.. y la historia que podria ser lo unico que se salve del paso del tiempo nada, nefasta.     Великая игра , с фантастической атмосферой. Сюжет даже спустя столько лет - не отпускает. Часто сижу на вики и читаю всё, что связано с серией.     Very EPIC game. Great atmosphere. Has that feeling of EPICness and you alone whole game. It is original! And it is scary. It has that grim of post-apocalyptic world, as you would expect from game like that. Open world, even it has a lot of uninteresting reapitive tasks, you don't have to do them. And there are also great side missions, which make game look more like real world. As there isVery EPIC game. Great atmosphere. Has that feeling of EPICness and you alone whole game. It is original!     For people that like exploration, this is great game. There are so many unique and interesting locations and things to discover and to finish game multiple ways. It is absolutely EPIC on epic scale 10/10! This is my favorite post-apocalyptic game. It is gives me goosebumps! You will want to play all mods and replay this game over and over, trust me!

    It has also decent ai and is hardcore shooter. I can't even sum this up, because it is good in so many areas, 20 things comes to my mind, before i can finish a sentence :D This if one of these immersive games, which makes you hooked from start to the end! You are like, what is next?    … Expand

    It's a warped behemoth from the Ukraine, and one of the scariest games on the PC. Stalker will remind you of all kinds of prior games, and yet it will also defy your expectations. Like the mythological Chernobyl zone it is based upon, this game is a treacherous, darkly beautiful terrain. Not everyone is going to enjoy venturing into the zone, but some of those who do will find what they've been looking for.

    Littered with a variety of anomalies which can cause the unwary to explode and other delightful stuff, mutant doggies, deserted buildings, weather effects, real-time day/night cycles etc. etc. - it creates a deliciously unique atmosphere.
