A pale and cut reincarnation of Fallen Enchantress. Doesn't worth to play, not speaking to buy.
Previous commentators already said that - no control over other races(you play humans all the time), no custom units, and idiotic crafting system. Such a disappointment
Play warlock 2 better, or good old FE

I dont understand why this game was made. This is basically a phone version of Fallen Enchantress. There are fewer heroes now which is fine but makes the start and mid-game very slow. That is basically all there is to say about this game. It almost feels like something from the SNES era. Why they decided to go down this route is beyond me but this hurt the franchise reputation. Expand

(This review based on the 1.0 release day version) The game is designed to give you a great initial impression in the opening acts, but after beating the game for the first time and having figured out how the game works, issues like the narrow scope, lack of replayability the many balance issues and iffy design choices will become apparent. Somehow, Stardock has managed to produce a game that ends up feeling lesser than its predecessors (Fallen Enchantress/Legendary Heroes) despite the fresh coat of paint over what is fundamentally the same base game. I saw 3 minutes of this and knew exactly what this is. Its a redo of Fallen Enchantress because the moron that runs Stardock is incapable of hiring anyone that is creative or knows anything about AI. Shame on you Stardock and my vow to keep you out of my wallet forever more still stands strong!

I gave it less time than I normally would a 4x game as they are not a very good game format; legendary heroes changed my mind on that last and I had hoped this would be a continuation on the work, it has some familiar options and other mimickery, but dissapointed me rather quick.

This game adopts most aspects of civilization in reguards to city building and turns, it has a main character and as such makes use of rpg elements; the main game is simplified and the ui is more limited, the loot system imediatly turned me off.

The grafix are undetailed, mediocre and bland unmemorable thing.

I enjoy legendary heroes now and then, this game I will give a good go one more time to be fair, mabey I played too little to see it properly, some effort went into it, just seemed watered down.

Once again I should have ignored the reviewers and listened to the owners/players. The concept is nice, but the rest of the game is weak, AI is non-existent, graphics are primitive and show seams in places. I do like not having to juggle 50 different cities aka AWIII, but at the same time, what you do with the cities, how they progress feels very weak and lethargic and I guess very static.Once again I should have ignored the reviewers and listened to the owners/players. I'm still playing but as time goes on not totally sure I have the interest.

I like the crafting thing, to a point. I like where it can be applied as it relates to the heroes, but I really feel like outfitting every darn soldier piece and knight and all also. There should be some more automated way of dealing with the rest of your armies. What feels a bit weak about the crafting however is that you really aren't seeking out any particular materials, you just randomly acquire them, and then even more randomly see new things you can craft. There's no mental connection between "Ah, I must get some of THIS.... so I can make ...THAT."

    None at all.

Doomsday clock, no big issue as it turns out, a spell can wipe much of it out every few turns. The maps, even the random big ones, feel cramped, like the first civilization on the iPad.. no hexes here, blocky.

Fallen Enchantress from a few years back, I thought, had far superior graphics and game play. This feels a bit like a ported iPhone app in many respects.

Don't bother with it, it's just not finished enough. You're better off buying civilization V or Endless Legend. You should expect more at this price-point. This dev has a habit of not finishing their games properly so I wouldn't risk it.

i had such high hopes for this game, i expected Fallen Enchantres improved. Instead we got boring game with 0 replayability value. Campaign gets boring after 2 hours. AI does not exist. 1 faction only. I finished game on Insane difficulty in 3 hours / never going back to it.. shame

Buggy unfinished game. There is very little here. And the game is super easy to play. Rather boring, no strategy really. Just blah. Good concept but not nearly fleshed out enough. Did I mention its buggy as all can be? so much stuff is broken, useless, while other things are super powerful. Also lots of annoying unit bugs.

This game just has no replay value whatsoever. Once you play it two or three times, you'll never play it again. Unfortunately you'll probably be past the 2 hour Steam Refund window. Buyer BEWARE!

Good concept but (like most of the recent Stardock titles) failed execution. You can see the reused assets from Fallen Enchantress...even the glitches are still there.

It is a very boring 4x fantasy game, even inferior to Fallen Enchantress as they removed what made that game interesting for the sake of streamlined gameplay. Tactical combat is devoid of any tactics, and the strategy

Tactical combat is devoid of any tactics, and the strategy element is devoid of any strategy. You just go from quest to quest collecting loot and leveling your champions (the only thing remotely interesting in this game) and pressing NEXT turn after turn. I fell asleep many times while playing the game, expecting something interesting to happen.

I have no expectations the game will be better by the launch, such is the state it is now.

I honestly don’t know who was the intended target group for Sorcerer King. There’s almost nothing fresh in this game to attract those who avoided 4X strategies and the genre’s veterans will snarl with disgust and return to much more complex Age of Wonders III. [10/2015, p.66]

A fine example of 4X strategy, Sorcerer King may not have what it takes to compare with the best of its genre; nonetheless, it’s a great and uncomplicated first step for newcomers, offering at the same time a substitute for veterans.

To increase gameplay speed, Stardock had to sacrifice a lot; perhaps, too much. Building variety went down the drain, you don’t have to balance the budget because concept of money is gone, and tech trees regressed back to Master of Magic-style magic books. [Issue#201, p.66]
