    Not many games can compare with Sniper Elite, and I personaly cant wait for Sniper Elite 2 to come out on my new 360. Nothing in this game is as pricless as the sespense in waiting for the one perfict shot. The one that no one hears, but still hits the mark. The one that you shake your fist and yell "YES!" the secont you know you made it. The one that you know your friends cant make. The Not many games can compare with Sniper Elite, and I personaly cant wait for Sniper Elite 2 to come out on my new 360. Nothing in this game is as pricless as the sespense in waiting for the one perfict shot. The one that no one hears, but still hits the mark. The one that you shake your fist and yell "YES!" the secont you know you made it. The one that you know your friends cant make. The only reason this is not a 10 is because some things could have had more time spent on them. A little more ragdall, not to much, but just enough to make you chuckle when you pick that guy off at 250 yards at a dead sprint, and you watch as his body slams into the earth with all his momentum and weight behind him. Some more sniping locations would be nice, and the lines in the crosshairs of the snipers are helpfull...but they are too helpfull. Every shot should be a challeng. Either you can make the shot of you cant, you dont get two guesses at different notches, you have one shot, and where you place it is depends of your instinct. Cant wait for #2, its going to be breathtaking.… Expand

    It is so realistic, I was a sniper in the Vietnam war and this game is pretty close to the real deal with a few minor things. Must get for all shoot 'em up lovers

    Ok i've just got the demo version and trying to get the game but this is South Africe and here it is a year behind, so i will to buy it when it come. It's very real and I think the graphics is very good. The slowmotion replay is excellent. I enjoy it very much. Thanks for everyones effort. Cheers

    The run and gun crew will hate this game - its an intelligent game of strategy, tactics and waiting. I can honestly say I never found it boring - the gameplay is far too tough for that. Its a typical corridor shooter that involves moving down one path with little or no discretion and killing the ever lasting hordes of enemy popping up before your eyes. After a couple of hours of gameplay I am bored in a way that sniper eleite never bored me in its entire campaign. Hope that a later version is turned out - there will always be niche markets for this kind of game. The only game I haev found close for tension is Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter another game that allows you wide discretion in how to approach an objective.… Expand

    I have waited years for a great sniper game to come out and its this one, i hope to see a second one. This game is great and it dilivers. Its alot of fun and its not all point shoot and run it actualy takes some thinking.

    Interesting, challenging and super fun. The graphics are very good, play movement is great, and always a challenge at every level. Enemies are smart not just blank targets (single player).Play seems like what a real sniper during WWII would do. I need at least two hours a day of Sniper Elite for my gaming fix.

    I found the game very 'capturing'.Any Sniper fan will get immersed quickly and deeply in this game.I hav the PC version and i loved it.Although many room for still making it more realistic like concealment in interactive shelters and realistic dmage AI improvement.     This is a terrific game. It's as much about stalking, finding cover and concealment, observation of the enemy, patience and intelligent shot selection than all-out shooting. In other words, it incorporates "real" sniper skills. The graphics are outstanding and the ruins of April 1945 Berlin were obviously well researched.     When i played it... i sucked pretty hard at it... It was fun tho and made me a better sniper in other games. Except the graphics, everything in this game is AWESOME. Even the cheats.

Only one item i have to mark the distances appear to be more , than in real life.     I've beat the game and nothing compares. The only thing that comes close is the other Game Rebellion Created in Black Hawk Down. No experience is like it when you play online. Where's the second one? I can't wait. This is Awesome!

    All round a good shot at a sniper game - excuse the pun The bullet physics are definitely very well done but the use of other weapons is quite poor. The handling of the non-scoped weapons is quite difficult barring the grenade throwing which is marvellous. It's amazing just how much the addition of right clicking to throw as opposed to left releasing to throw improves the action.     This is the only game that i have been realy addicted to, is great and those head shots are priceless and can't get enough of them. and im expecting more from sniper elite 2 great job "REBELLION' keep making them and i will keep buying them.

    This game is really good, is all about patience and wait the right moment to shoot, but not only that because you have to look the best place to hide yourself of the enemy, watch the movements of the enemy and then finally fire considering the wind and posture of your sniper. So yes is very realistic and you have to think everything.     Can't remember the days i have been playing a game 6 hours in a row with headphones on! this game would get a 10 if grafix, sounds and some minor issues would be standard 2005, but as a hardcore sniper with a fable on hunting snipers i can`t vote it lower then a 9 because its challenging fun and its no mass market product, i like to know whom i kill...in this game you know it!

    i had finished play it.. i like, as if i was a real sniper.. the graphic is outstanding, especially the slow motion effect, it;s kind a realistic plot, so it make you can wait to move to next mission..

    Well, at first it appears to be a great game. You are dropped off in the middle of a city, you find your way to the top floor of a building, look through your scope and start picking off enemies at 100m away. The physics in the game is done well, you gotta aim above the head to account for the gravity. But as you play, you start noticing its shortcomings. I know its a sniper game, but when you see 2 russians come out of a tank and you take them out, you should at least get to use their tank. The biggest shortcoming is the map layout. You CANNOT enter buildings! A game that relies heavily on you finding a good sniping spot, doesnt even let you do that! There is a few half-destroyed buildings that allow you to enter, but they dont provide much of a spot. I would like to kick open a door of any building, walk to the 3rd floor, go to a room, open a window, and start sniping. The way it is in the game, you are pretty much out in the streets. This game had so much potential, hence the low score.… Expand

In this game you better keep your head down, move carefully, and make sure that your shots are carefully aimed, or you're toast and quickly so. Most of the bad reviews here are from kids who are used to blasting there way through hordes of 100 foot aliens without getting scratched. For them it is very frustrating when an enemy who you can see perfectly can also see you and who can fire their weapon just as accurately as you. And yes, if you fire a rifle, it can actually be heard from a mile away. And yes, you will be hunted down and killed if they can find you. The idea that a single soldier should easily be able to wade through a few dozen enemy soldiers every time is just a joke. Snipers in war have some of the highest casualty rates and so will you when you play this game, which I think is a good thing. The situation with some of the complainers here reminds me of paintball, where all the kiddies come out thinking they will be Rambo and then get pissy when they get taken out quickly over and over again. Anyway, this is a great game, I rank it right up there with Crysis as one of the best FPS sniper games ever. Highly recommended for those willing to face the realistically bad odds of a war zone.… Expand

Enemies clairvoyantly know where you are and will run directly to your position, even if you're moving silently, and even if they've never seen you. Soldiers can usually take a bullet to the chest and keep moving. They are precision-accurate with wartime machine guns (remember, guns that were built to be cheap and fire bullets, but not for much else.) Most enemies are quicker draws than the Sundance Kid and more accurate than John McClain. At one point, I got frustrated and simply rushed through a mission with a machine gun, sniping nobody. I completed all objectives easily, and spent much less time doing it. Terrible game. Avoid this one.… Expand

    Don't let the low system requirements fool you. This game has a very realistic play and is perfect for the household with a computer that can't play anything "because it's too old".     This is a great game. Or more, it was a superb game back then.
    The graphics are mediocre and the story basic... very basic.
    the rest of the game is pure fun and can become one of your best game experience. As it was for me.
    for this game i can say that it pased the test of time.

My only problem was that changing weapons was sort of cumbersome, especially when trying to move from the Sniper mode to close combat with machine guns. Also, the age of the game showed. This is mainly due to clunky controls that have you looking down at your keyboard more than the screen, and some of the gameplay ruining what would otherwise be great fun. But the most annoying aspect is that if you make any noise that isn't covered by some shelling (and only your pistol is silenced) then every enemy for the rest of that level (however far away) will be spooked. This leads to constant re-loading just to have some proper sniping fun.

    The sniping is by far the best thing, you just never get bored of the bullet camera showing you the enemy getting it right in the head in slow motion, and it's good that you have to adjust for bullet drop and wind. But this doesn't make up for the fact that everything in between running from sniping spot to sniping spot is annoying and hard work.

    This is a brave and innovative game that just falls short in the way it is executed.    … Expand

    After having so much fun playing V2, I thought I would give this a try. I downloaded it for $9.99 on Steam, and downloaded xpadder 5-3 so I could map my xbox 360 controller. I have a decent PC with AMD 7950 3GB graphics card. I max it all out and it is very playable. I have only played a few levels so far.It does have a more open feel from what I have seen so far.

    I like to be able to save when you want, although it is limited before it affects your score (Which I do not care about). I heard on the harder levels it may only let you 7 saves or something. I believe there are 4 levels of difficulty and I started with easiest to learn the controls and moved up one level. I assume it can get pretty darn hard as even on the 2nd level, you have to manage your ammo and bad guys sometimes do not appear until you have been shot. They will sneak around behind you and nail you or pop up on building roofs you already walked by. Some good sound effects of people screaming etc. All versions of this game need to have a scarier feel. I have seen some big rats and birds, etc. These games need civilians, injured and wanting of help. Would be good side mission stuff. I do get killed a fair amount, I need to learn to play slower. You do not just gain health in 3 secs like V2, you have a gauge that you can fill back up using med kits (which I like). Tanks are there with there caps (some of them). It still is sometimes confusing on exactly what it is the game wants you to do. I found the pistal not very usable at a distance I did find usable in V2. Sniping is still very fun, and has the slow mo bullet and pretty good reactions of baddie being hit. Over all, I would think if you liked V2, you would like this one. It is fun.    … Expand

    After I gave it a chance for some time figured game is oposite then my previous opinion. Absolutely everything is made right here. Sneaking and sniping ratio is just right. levels are made good.     I had very high hopes for this game, but was somewhat disappointed in many ways. The ballistic modeling is terrible...I have been a long range target shooter for many years and was extremely disappointed with this aspect of the game. The idea of having to aim high on a target 100 meters away is ludicrous. Generally speaking a rifle is sighted in at a minimum of 100 yards, and the I had very high hopes for this game, but was somewhat disappointed in many ways. The ballistic modeling is terrible...I have been a long range target shooter for many years and was extremely disappointed with this aspect of the game. The idea of having to aim high on a target 100 meters away is ludicrous. Generally speaking a rifle is sighted in at a minimum of 100 yards, and the ballistics of most rifle cartridges is such that gravity has very little effect at the ranges presented in most of the game. It appears in the game that the rifle is zeroed at the muzzle and any target beyond that range requires ridiculous elevation compensation. The other huge mistake made in regards to bullet performance is the damage inflicted. So far I have only been able to get a kill with a single bullet if a head shot was made. Rifles of the caliber used for this kind of shooting very reliably produce kills with a single shot to center mass of the chest cavity, and it is uncommon for someone to sustain a chest hit and remain on their feet, let alone, still shooting back while limping towards cover. The information is readily available to easily correct these shortcomings with a modest amount of research...COME ON GUYS!!! My other major complaint with the game is the inability to enter buildings and structures. This is supposed to be a somewhat realistic game, yet you would never see a sniper out in the open the way this game requires of you. The advantage of a sniper is in use of cover and concealment to hide his position while employing the ballistic advantage of his weapon to engage enemies with little risk of detection. It seems that all they have done here is dump the sniper into the role of a common foot soldier. Even with these flaws, I found the game challenging and enjoyable, but have to give it a low rating due to the unrealistic mapping and mission requirements of the game.… Expand

    The best sniper game which i ever played. This game is not perfect, has a lot of errors, but gives a climat of WWII years. You can only imagine, what they felt at the time of WWII.

The stealth on here works pretty well, with a moment occasionally that makes you feel that you got spotted for no reason. Usually, however, you will find there is someone who could have spotted you, which makes these alerts seem valid. The stealth bar is not perfect, but that is because it has 25% intervals. The sounds of the game are okay. The objectives of the game are of good variety, whether it is something like escort, assassinate, etc. The one major downside I have found was that the enemies feel a bit too accurate. They can hit you with their PPSH from about 200 yards, which is a bit crazy. All in all, this is a very fun game that should not be overlooked. (Note: PC version has no co-op features. This would drop my rating to an 8.)… Expand

Plot: It's not bad. When I first got acquainted with the game, I thought it would be a typical shooting range, but no, the topic of nuclear weapons and all this secrecy is pretty well recreated as for me. Gameplay and graphics: not bad for 2005 either. There are many types of weapons in the game: from bazooka to stretching. I also have no complaints about the schedule, for 2005 everything was done quite well. Most of all I would like to emphasize the atmosphere in this game (especially the 1st mission when it is raining and around the fighting). And I didn't like that the missions are too long for me (bring that, blow that, then come back, kill this and everything in this regard...)

    Состояние игры хорошее, схема управление привычное (и особенно быстрые сохранения (как в сталкере, графика ну жаль конечно что для этой игры текстуры никто не прогнал через нейросетку, жаль. В 4к хорошо идет без вылетов и статеров, почти из коробки, только фикс пришлось установить и русификацию.
    Про геймплей, сложность есть на "снайпер" и она действительно решает, собственно на ней и прошел. Кроме снайперской винтовки в игре про снайпера есть автомат, для ближних дистанция маст хев, пистолет для стелс моментов (да аля хитман), гранаты, аптечки, взрывчатка. Потом нам меняют винтовку, мне не понравилась, в середине игры, я бы лучше не брал, так как я к ней так и не привык. Это еще не говорил что в игре решает дистанция, и не всегда понятно насколько ближе брать, то есть некоторые важные моменты игра подчеркивает ( что пуля не летит прямо ).
    Карты в начале особенно повторяются да еще и берлин руины его, было не очень приятно бегать, потом как то происходит смена, и некоторые карты я узнал (играл раньше в зомби серию)
    Пару моментов меня конечно бесили, один из них прям ваще я бы сказал не проходим, если бы мне не подвернулось панцершрек, ну явно разрабы так не задумывали, или ....? Нет, просто повезло, думал дропать, если честно (уровень церковь, если что держитесь там). Тупость бота как всегда подводила. И второй в конце, я думал щас расслаблюсь посмотрю концовку и на покой. Но концовка решила пощекотать нервишки, но я перехитрил игры в этом моменте, перепройдя и зная кто где вылезет.
    Так же хочу еще отметить, что в 2010, выходила на нинтендо свич, и там сделали особый уровень "Flak Tower" сначала думал, не буду же я покупать что поиграть, потом скачал эмуль, "долфин" и поиграл, и было в принципе на опять же сложности снайпер, подольше чем бы на компе, но я справился! А собственно к чему я, к тому что ну в 23г то можно уже было этот уровень уже сюда добавить чтоб можно было с комфортом поиграть.
    Думал приключение на 4 часа, оказалось на 17)    … Expand

    DISCOVERING HISTORY:
    Sniper Elite, as the firstborn of the long Saga that lives on to this day, left the seeds from which great titles such as Sniper Elite 4 were born. Unfortunately, whether due to technical and monetary problems or a lack of experience on the part of the then-young team, this first title did not excel in many respects, but it certainly gave birth to mechanics unknown to the video game world of its time. The early stages of the game, as usual, are a series of actual recordings, dating back to the Second World War, that set the tone of the game and explain, partly through a handy task letter, the ultimate goal of the protagonist Karl Fairburne, a young German sniper who switched to the American faction. The game has no real tutorial but explains the basic mechanics to the player with extremely intrusive messages; fortunately these can be disabled from the settings, since they will tend to appear at critical stages of the game, breaking the atmosphere and often leading to unjust deaths.

    ICE SKATING:
    Explaining the gameplay of one of the latest Sniper Elite games would be redundant, but as this is the first occasion where some of the saga's iconic mechanics are introduced, it seems fair to go into them in detail. The two basic mechanics of the game are, or at least they should be, sniping and stealth; sniping is focused on a bullet decay system based on the range of the target (this is only in difficulties above beginner), a system of scoop oscillation based on the character's breathing, which increases with certain actions such as running, and a bullet travel system when making a particularly spectacular kill, built on a camera attached to the bullet that makes the player see exactly the path of the bullet before hitting the enemy. The famous X-rays, a focal point of later titles, have not yet been added. Of course, numerous other weapons are also present, but they can only be used in hipfire, that is, without aiming, and therefore the shots will go randomly; this was obviously done specifically to avoid the abuse of these weapons, which, even with these devices, are quite strong. The stealth mechanics, on the other hand, revolve all around moving while lying down and using the silenced gun; the problem with all this is that the game was rarely developed to be approached in silent mode, and doing so by running and being discovered always results in a more efficient as well as fun approach. As for the story and the various missions, they turn out to be very long-winded and well-structured, with missions divided by micro-quests and various optional ones. The story also turns out to be quite long, offering around 10 hours of gameplay. Story-wise, on the other hand, it comes down to the plot of a typical American action B movie.

    I FEEL LIKE I’VE ALREADY BEEN THERE:
    Graphically the original Sniper Elite does not turn out to be a top in any aspect except for the HUD, like the map. Comparing it to great games released in the same year such as Call of Duty 2 or Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, the graphics, art side, and level design come across as poorly detailed, poorly structured, and decidedly repetitive; the variation in aesthetics between missions is mainly about changing coloration and lighting of environments, giving a sense of fatigue and boredom when playing multiple missions consecutively. On the animation side, the game also fails to hold a candle to works published several years before its release, with clunky and extremely unnatural animations.

    HEARING TANK TRACKS:
    On the audio side, Sniper Elite has neither great merits nor flaws, settling on average. The only major flaw lies in the dubbing, which, at least for the Italian one, is extremely desyncato and qualitatively poor.

    BUT WHY 5?

    CONS:
    The cons of this game are varied and are mostly already mentioned in the part above. The slowness of the game, the unengaging shooting feel, the story not at all appealing, the repetitive and tiresome aesthetics, and the extremely clunky movements do not result in a positive mix. An unmentioned detail is that of running, which gives the impression of constantly being on a frozen surface, leading any movement to be slippery and increasing the difficulty in climbing stairs or making turns. Finally, the game's AI is rather silly, making certain missions completable extremely quickly.

    PROS:
    The pros of this title are mainly based on the main roots for this saga, since aside from the shooting which can be fun, the rest remains below the standard of games of that era, and even some games released even earlier.

    Sniper Elite could well have been a terrifically good simulation of being a wartime sneaky fella had there been a greater sense of ambition displayed in the design process. As it is, you're left with a game that doesn't really offer a great deal more in terms of ammo delivery that we haven't seen done equally well in more popular, less subject-specific shooters.
