unfortunately after picking this game up again in season 2 - it still has the same issues as in season 1

abusive teammates and a ban system that encourages premades to harass solo players without consequences (because there is no way for the solo player to do anything about it with the current report system) just to have their premade report the solo player for no reason after the match

Decent game but has a few weak points like generic heroes with a lot of similiar abilities, lacking camera controls, strange hitboxes and the matchmaking is oh well in about 60 games I had 2 games without any leaver.

Certain god balances like Ao Kuang, Poseidon and Zeus also leaves me scratching my head and once you combine it with the most putrid community & report system ever, you got a game that has naught but a third person perspective gimmick in a fundamentally imbalanced MOBA that's populated with nothing but trolls and tryhards on a bunch of wonky servers.

The minimap isnt very good and doesnt really convey information such as enemy location in lane because as soon as your opponent moves a bit further away from your teammate (even if he stays in lane) he will disappear from your minimap.

Furthermore the mostly unranked gametypes this game has are ruined by premades stomping randoms - there doesnt seem to be a decent pre vs pre matching. Especially later at night you will often run into 3 (conquest) to 5 (arena) man premades who just destroy random teams over and over.

^The issues above are somewhat fixed with the introduction of curse voice but not that many people are using it as of yet (especially in unranked where people dont WANT to use voice) so its not helping as much as it could.

By far the worst thing about the game is the report system. Basically the losing team will usually pick 1 guy on their team and just shove all the blame on him and ask the other team to report him as well. (you know how everyone becomes trash tier when your team loses.. *sigh*)

You can also get banned for getting disconnects during games (which actually happens a bit more at right now because hirez seems to have server problems at the moment) pretty much if you DC 3 times in 2 days you get a ban.

All of this wouldnt be an issue if the bans would be looked into more thoroughly by a support team but theyre not. And in addition to that if you get banned 4 times (within any timeframe at all ever) your ban will be almost permanent (1year). This is a huge problem as leveling a character to the point where u can play ranked takes A LOT of time and if u want to use all the gods you will have to unlock all of them again on a new account as well (which again consumes A LOT of time OR you can of course PAY MONEYZZZ to speed it up)

So basically banning people is a pretty good source of income for HiRez which is not a good starting point for a fair report/ban system.

The game is a overrated, it has nice ideas and mechanics but the reality is it's just mediocre.
The Gods are unbalanced and people use and ban the same Gods every game, many gods are not viable because they're just too weak compared to others.
The matchmaking is broken as it takes into account the average MM rating of the team, so you end up with situations where high ranked players end

The matchmaking is broken as it takes into account the average MM rating of the team, so you end up with situations where high ranked players end up in the same team with relatively new players while the opponents are more even in skill level and either the high ranked players have to carry the game to victory on their own or they're gonna lose badly.
Gods can be unlocked for free but their cost is so high (5500) and the "favor" (free game currency) you gain per match is so low (20-50 depending on game mode and win/loss) that you just won't be able to unlock every god without paying real money.
The game has servers only in 2 regions, NA and EU, so you often end up in teams with Latins, Spanish, Brazilians, Russians, etc. who can't or refuse to speak English and so will lose you the game due to no communication. Not to mention the ping and lag issues if you're plying from the West Coast or anywhere outside the US or Europe.
The items are very few and the stats very simplistic, often taking away most of the choices in item builds as there are always must have items on every god depending on your role.

In the end Smite is a game built for casual gamers new to MOBAs, with very little to offer to veterans from other and better games from this genre.

Although the community is great and the game is fun, it is ruined by the fact that maybe 5 champs run the game. Out of the maybe 4 dozen champs, only 5 are worth anything and if you dont play them you lose. End of story. Its no fun to play as people only play the 5 OP champs and you cant play the ones you want or you are guaranteed to lose. Ill stick to LoL, much better champ balance there.

This online Moba is fun, but under the wing of Hi Rez has increasingly become bad.

-the match making sucks. Reasons? I have 600+ games under my belt and am lvl 30 but I am being paired with idiots with no knowledge of the game.

Also this game's mechanism is old and boring, same old same MOBA. Moreover, the skins are very poorly designed and I didn't want to spend a dime on any of them, even though I had a champion that I really liked. I would buy a skin immediately for my champ in league because of their superior art/effect/design. This game also has a HUGE amount of unskilled players, it annoys you a lot and the auto matching system keeps matching noobs for your games. The item mechanism is broken, a lot of items are similar, if you go check the items in league, they are much better/more diverse. Lastly, the first person perspective just fails in a MOBA, sometimes a projectile that misses 1 millimeter on the screen can decide if you win or lose in League, yet in this game it's impossible to do that.
I don't recommend this game. League is WAY WAY better than this game, and btw, I do NOT like League that much(it's still better than this game)

Aim based normal attacks, are you for real? This takes focus further off cs (it lightens the punishment of missing cs) and introduces another annoying element to the game. Suddenly the game is a third person shooter strategy action. Honestly, Smite is more like a boring MMO instance than a "MOBA".

People report too much in this game. If you have a bad game.. you will get reported for feeding. If you are annoyed because some dude feeds the enemy team and you simply spam the ingame emotes a few times whenever he dies, you will get reported for harass.

Even if you play a decent game but your team loses anyway.. yup thats a report for you! It's really really bad. Especially as a support you can eat your heart out with CC and helping others and your team will still insult and report you in hopes of getting you banned if you lose (solution dont play support ever!).

The worst thing by far is that smite checks for other programs running while you run smite (e.g. detecting cheat engine). But not only does smite not care wether or not you actually USE the program to modify the game and instant permaban it also missdetects some programs like a few graphic card addons and performance trackers.

The ban count is never reset so earlier or later you WILL get the 1 year ban.

The only thing i can recommend is to not spend any real money on cosmetics or god unlocks simply because it will be gone earlier or later

Made by a studio who can't create an original IP and only steals ideas from others, badly!

If you want to play a MOBA there are plenty of better options.

If you consult Hi-Rez technical support on the matter they will tell you that it is a problem with your computer or internet connection, despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. The servers crash often and any time there is a server issue you are likely to be banned for abandoning a match despite the fact that their paper-clip and chewed gum servers are at fault.

In short, the game is fun, but be prepared for a lot of technical difficulties, and absolutely no interest in helping you or even recognizing that there are problems on hi-rez' end. also expect a high learning curve do to the fact that in the starter lvl matches there is often 15-30 smurfs.

So I was playing the game for around a full year when I got a new computer, it wasn't a great one, but it was brand new and had only the basic files on it.

However, after I got the computer my friends invited me to a game for it, and I was after we got into a game for 2 minutes I was kicked out. I thought 'Oh lord, it crashed!' So I tried to hurry back on and I was banned for using illegal software. On a brand new computer. So I figured, ' This has to be a mistake.' but my friends are demanding I play, one made an account for me, and then first 2 minutes. Banned again. So an application on a brand new computer had software that was bringing up false positives, I confronted support about that and they were probably the rudest people I've ever talked to, especially from any support group. I asked for a multitude of things, any potential of getting ban lifted? Since it was a fresh computer? No. Could I at least be told what the supposed program was so that I could remove it? No. After the first two responses they simply stopped responding.

TL;DR play it if you want, but don't invest time or money into it, because you may be banned for literally nothing, and they will not listen to anything you have to say. However, the gameplay was fine.

These matches are rigged; you will not even be fighting real players in the normal pvp matches let alone the ranked matches. The robots you fight in Co-Op are used in the normal and ranked modes with difficulties being very bad or very high in terms of the robot skills in the match. They actively restrict American’s 1st Amendment right by removing a player’s ability to speak in matches.
Some players have had the ability to surrender in less than 2 minutes into the match which is not supposed to be possible until 10 minutes into the match. My entire guild quit due to over reporting by players that loose and cannot take the pressure of pvp which was the last straw after dealing with all the problems I previously mentioned. All in all the game is very good game but the staff and people running it are ruining the game by match manipulation and deceptive practices.

With 4.3 they are adding EAC against most of the communities will. The entire Smite subreddit is filled with negative things about it. I've uninstalled smite with the only way I'd return is if they remove EAC or I find a way to disable it and still run Smite.

The game itself is very addicting and has a great concept. The over the shoulder MOBA put you closer to the action and retains the strategy factor. There is one huge huge flaw that makes the game awful. The game is definitely run to make money. So literally half of the time you are playing smite there will be a god out that is insanely over powered and beating the **** out of you and there is nothing you can do about it until they patch it. During that period (which is half the time) everyone is picking the god so its impossible to play a balanced game. Once they finally balance the new god they shortly release a new one with the same story. I finally gave up on thinking hi rez would actually balance the game and not release bull **** god's but they never will. Expand

its a decently fun game but the company behind it has no consequences for its employees. Many times on official hi rez twitch chat or twitter you can see employees (usually casters) bullying other people. Online harassment is a terrible thing in mobas and when the company behind it is BM you can imagine what the player base acts like.

It's a fun game. Great game-play mechanics and plenty to do. However, the game is a team based game, and the match making is atrocious. Considering this game is a team based game, match making is vital to the enjoyment of it.

But now, it is the most disappointing game i've played in my life, and i'm releived to uninstall it.

This game is an ocean of salt. Where apparently all the libtards are gathering to let out their anger.

In 95% of the games you play, there will be a random dude making a drama scene, with salt, hatred, feed, spam, DC, insults. So at the end of the game, you report him, in hope this player get banned.

But you know they funniest part of it? It is YOU, the good player, who will be banned.
I played Smite for 800 hours, so i know by experience all i'm assuming here. It's the good guys who get all the crap in this game.

My friend DC 3 times between 15 games to take care of his newborn child, and he got banned.
Then i've been banned for days without any reasons too, the only thing i can think of is: i was being reported out of jealousy because i had alot of kills as hunter and mage, and i stole kills alot. Otherwise i have NO idea what i've done wrong! (wait... maybe that ONE dc i had days ago because i lost electricity due to a tornado in my region!)

Yet, over time in game i see repeteadly the sames people (by recognizing their account name) Still playing, and some of them i remember because they are incredebly extreme salty players.

I'm done with Smite, and i'm not recommending this game to anyone. Especially not the new players now since some players are smurfing and destroys the new players without giving them a change to learn the game fairly.

The matchmaking is incredebly unbalanced, the god comp in assault is always crap too. one team always gets crappy gods when the other gets a OP comp with zeus or ah puch.

The player's level matchmaking is terrible too. They consider lvl 67 players to lvl 150 to be at the same level. A team can get players lvl: 67,69,80,80,102, While the other get: 142,82,102,136,110... It's stupid because at lvl 69 i was a total noob, i didn't know the items in shop by heart, i didn't new all the gods yet, and my reflexes were still slow. it's when i reached lvl 110 that i considered myself a finally good player. So why should i be teamed with lvl 67 that still asks me ''what should i buy?'' or ''How do i play this guy?''

i'm writting all this here because it's bothering me that we can't have fun in games nowadays.

Dear developers, please sell this game as game, which will be autonomous from your f*cking servers. People with pleasure will pay full-price, just let them be free from your ugly "service".

The game is bad, the devs work hard to make skins but the stability of the game is bad, you get constant crashes on new consoles. You get constant crashes on PC. For which you get up to a whole 24 hours ban (yes, 24 hours ban for their game crashing on you).

You get paired unfairly in ranked matches, I've played 10 in which 3 of those had someone AFK, 2 of those had player now knowing

People have better time in normal conquest than playing ranked because the ranked matchmaking is garbage and completely broken and has been like that since the game came out.

I'd argue that SMITE is better than league of legends when it comes to inside the game. Between the two I would rather play SMITE over LoL even though LoL is more polished. But SMITE still isn't anything special. It may just be that I am not a big fan of the MOBA genre but it's not really anything special. SMITE is a lot more aggressive with it's microtransactions which is a large down side. I would not really recommend this game.

If you're a fan of LoL this may be a fun game to mix it up some but it's not really my style of game. Just know that there will be much more microtransactions and less polish.

Pretty standard MOBA with over the shoulder controls rather than top-down. Not being a fan of MOBAs, I did not enjoy it, but can understand the appeal for those who like this sort of thing.

Third god perspective freshens up the MOBA genre but its potential was not fully utilized (e.g. you can jump, but there’s nowhere to jump to). Smite makes up for that with varied game modes and accessibility to inexperienced or casual players. [06/2014, p.58]

The product of Hi Rez Studios is well made, and offers different feelings from those of its competitors, thanks to the different camera angle and a fast paced gameplay.
