    Cons:

    * There's a bug in the game that prevents adjusting the refresh rate - it seems to detect the highest possible refresh rate your monitor can handle and then locks it in even if you want or need to set it lower - for example my monitor will do 144Hz, but this game doesn't run well at that speed and really needs to be adjusted down to 60 or 75Hz but you can't. As a work-around I'm    Cons:

As a work-around I'm using the NVidia control panel to enforce a maximum framerate for this specific game at the driver-level, which is more of a band-aid than a fix as it isn't the same as using true application-level VSync and will still have some stutters in certain parts of the game. This is a bug that should have easily been addressed during QA testing.
    * Some of the side missions are quite poorly designed where they can be borderline impossible if you don't wear a certain outfit that gives you a boost to gunfire accuracy, or where you're supposed to subdue someone, but they don't tell you how - things that can cause you to easily fail a mission because they don't give you enough information to know what you're supposed to do. Same with some of the mini-games that are timed, etc. where you basically have to use Google to figure out what you're supposed to do in order to do it and progress.
    * I found that sometimes countering didn't work all that well during boss fights in terms of the timing, etc. - I'd press counter at the appropriate points but your character would just stand there and get hit.

    Pros:

    * Pretty darn good graphics for an older game
    * Solid hand-to-hand combat for an older game - similar to Batman Arkham style, just not quite as refined or free-flowing. It is enjoyable with solid move and combat variation.
    * Gun combat is ok / a little wonky but not bad.
    * Game has very good flow in terms of the way the main missions are handled and allow time for the player to do side missions and have them not feel forced or like they are out of place in the storyline. This is something I find jarring in a lot of other games because this is usually handled so poorly, but these devs did a nice job on it with this game.
    * The main missions don't really get dull, at all, they are well-designed and a lot of fun.
    * Normal gender behavior in the game - likely because it was made about 10 years back when things were normal. Guys like attractive women and the game doesn't shy away from that, showing men attracted to women and vice versa. A breath of fresh air, indeed; happy to get my wallet out for this kind of content.
    * Adding on to the above - no alphabet-people nonsense in the game at all.
    * Excellent overall narrative story that kept me engaged throughout.
    * Driving / chase sequences are also pretty darn good - vehicle behavior when driving is quite commendable.

    Game Length: ~27 hours. I did probably 90-95% of the game.

    Final Rating: 8/10. Excellent game, I got this on an extreme sale for a few bucks at the recommendation of a friend (thanks mhenryblack) and I would highly recommend it to others.    … Expand

    pure fun, i would say this game really have all the open world aspect that should be available

    the melee combat is wayyyy too satisfying, it has fluid animation and really good combo to knock down the enemies. the character is agile, i really like it when there's a mission to chase somebody doing the parkour, jump over the building and ledge. the main story is short, but it's,    pure fun, i would say this game really have all the open world aspect that should be available

    the main story is short, but it's, really, goddamn good. each cutscene has their step up and really looks like a movie. the gang war, the contradiction, how brutal it is, love, hate, anger, joy, there's so much emotion in such short story.

    there's many things you can do beside the main story, all the mini-games looks fun and add some spices to this complete game

    cons, camera control looks rough, graphic is okay-ish, some bug happen in a mission so you have to restart again. but that's not gonna make it not playable. 9/10    … Expand

    What is still one of the best games in the genre, TDE just adds some minor graphical tweaks and all the DLC to the SD collection. The base game is amazing, with fluid shooting,melee, driving and parkour. The game looks better, and is optimized better the original. The DLCS are all worth playing,and all the new outfits look as cool as they did in the original.     People shouldn't give this game bad score just because it's the same game and you must pay again for it... You should give it a rate for the game itself! Even though the camera bug wasn't fixed this game is still a succes, liked it. :3

    Improvements that I've noticed:

    * Better character models. Both Player's and NPCs. Improved texturing and physics, so you get things like jewellery and hair moving.
    *Better lighting and atmospheric effects. Nice fog effects which looks great when raining. You also get steam coming from kitchens, pipes and food bowls.
    *More world animations.Awnings flap in the wind, lights blink and neon signs now flash like actual neon signs and animated advertisements have been added.
    *Increased crowd density and now the markets actually looks like markets with lots and lots of items on display and people shopping.

    If you loved the original game as much as I did and have it on Steam, the upgrade is fairly cheap at
    $15. Whether there is value in that is hard to say, but I'm glad I bought it.    … Expand

    A very underrated game. Although the presentation is mediocre, with a basic representation of Honk Kong and simple updated graphics, what I really enjoyed was the combat. Unlike most games with this fighting style, like Batman, AC, and Shadow of Mordor, it doesn't slow down when someone is about to attack you which adds to the required skill. I have yet to play the DLC but I'm already hooked.

    Sleeping dogs definitive edition is a remaster of sleeping dogs from 2012 with better visuals and all the DLC. Sleeping dogs is an open world action game using a sort of GTA formula, but this game has some unique things about it especially the setting in Hong Kong Playing as Wei Shen an undercover cop knowing all these cool martial arts moves that are pretty sweet though I did findSleeping dogs definitive edition is a remaster of sleeping dogs from 2012 with better visuals and all the DLC. Sleeping dogs is an open world action game using a sort of GTA formula, but this game has some unique things about it especially the setting in Hong Kong Playing as Wei Shen an undercover cop knowing all these cool martial arts moves that are pretty sweet though I did find pressing E to counter was dodgy and I couldn't remap the key. This game has some great characters who have personalities especially the protagonist. The combat features cool environmental takedowns which are so great like stabbing people with sword fish or killing someone with a grinder. This game also has shooting occasionally and the cover system is fairly basic but it also involves a great mechanic of vaulting over an object and going into bullet time. I think you should buy this if you see it cheap I got it for 10$ and it was the best 10$ I spent this year… Expand

    I never ever played Sleeping Dogs before so its my first time with this title and i have a lots of fun :) Maybe its not GTA V but Hong Kong have a special Far East mood: bad tattooed triada gangsters, corrupted cops, fast cars, kung fu fighting, honor, betrayal, love and hate you have everything in this tittle. On i5-4490 GTX 970 8 GB RAM game it,s flying and look very good especially inI never ever played Sleeping Dogs before so its my first time with this title and i have a lots of fun :) Maybe its not GTA V but Hong Kong have a special Far East mood: bad tattooed triada gangsters, corrupted cops, fast cars, kung fu fighting, honor, betrayal, love and hate you have everything in this tittle.     A quite entertaining open-world game with beautiful Hong Kong scenery, story is captivating but the ending is unsatisfying, and combat is good enough despite its flaws. Overall, Sleeping Dogs is a pretty good game that everybody can easily enjoy.

    The graphics are incredible for the era that this game came out. The fun factor is top-notch. The story is compelling, with a very fun world to explore. Combat has a lot of cool options. The game can be a bit buggy with NPCs ping-ponging all over the map and cars rubber banding, which knocks the score down a tad bit.

    Even though the game came out in 2012 and had a graphics boost in 2014, the experience was not harmed by its age while playing it in 2020; and    While I believe the open world design is not the best, Sleeping Dogs makes up for its engaging combat, thrilling storyline, good acting, passable side quests and overall a fun gameplay along with its mini-games, puzzles and even street racing.

The game is a sandbox crime sim and is closer to Grand Theft Auto then to Saints Row in terms of gameplay, but is generally more enjoyable to play then the former. It does however lack any kind of multiplayer,Sleeping Dogs takes you on a blood-spattered journey through the violent Hong Kong underworld as undercover cop Wei Shen, a man torn between two worlds and not wholly of either one. The game is a sandbox crime sim and is closer to Grand Theft Auto then to Saints Row in terms of gameplay, but is generally more enjoyable to play then the former. It does however lack any kind of multiplayer, which I am sure would be very offputting for some. While it places a much lower emphasis on shooting then most games in the genre, it flavors its gunfights with bullet time- but most of the time, Wei engages his foes with a brutal combination of strikes, counters and throws, coupled with some very painful-looking environmental finishers (table saws, spikes, furnaces, fan blades- the list goes on) You unlock additional melee techniques along the way and while the fights may eventually get stale and lack the tactical depth of say, the Batman: Arkham games, they remain a cut above the drunken flailing that passes for melee in GTA V. Unlike the purely aesthetic clothing options in GTA V, clothing in Sleeping Dogs can provide bonuses when worn as a set. Driving is manageable, though most the cars do not handle very well and you will find yourself grinding a lot of hard surfaces at speed. However, you have the ability to jolt your car left, right or forwards to ram other cars, which is both useful and entertaining. Bullet time also kicks in when aiming a gun from a car, making engaging pursuers infinitely easier. As per standard for the genre, there are a multitude of collectables scattered about the map. While the lockboxes reward only some money and occasionally clothes and the security camera hacks offer no reward at all, the shrines confer a maximum health upgrade for every five shrines found and are absolutely vital, as finding them all doubles Wei's starting health. Luckily, you unlock the ability to see the shrines on your map early on, and like GTA V, the entire city is available to explore at the start, barring only a few story mission-only areas. This "definitive" edition of the game includes almost all of the DLCs- fair enough, considering the vanilla edition is no longer available (Wow Squarenix, really?) These include a number of extra outfits, vehicles and missions that if used/done during the course of a playthrough will make the core content much easier, especially the police tactical gear that cuts all damage you take in half. There are a pair of mini-story addons, one dealing with a prototype, gatling-equipped supercar and the other a martial arts tournament ripped straight out of Enter the Dragon, which offers up some of the most difficult melee fights in the game. Money is also no object beyond the first few hours of the story, beginning with the fact that you can run over parking meters to get it! There are also a pair of full story addons: Nightmare on North Point is your standard horror-flavored DLC that has you fighting Jiang Shi vampires, Yaoguai demons and the ghosts of enemies fought in the main campaign. The second, Year of the Snake, sees Wei back on the force and combating a bomb-crazy doomsday cult on Chinese New Year's. While Nightmare has new enemies and Snake has some good gunfights, both DLCs are somewhat repetitive and are not up to the same quality as the core campaign. They are, however, short enough that they do not overstay their welcome. Though I played these addons after completing the story, you may wish to complete Year of the Snake earlier on as it adds a tear-gas grenade launcher to your main playthrough. Overall, I enjoyed Sleeping Dogs and found it more then worth its lowered price. If you enjoy sandbox crime games, Sleeping Dogs is certainly worth your time.… Expand

    Una auténtica sorpresa. Si hay un videojuego que puede competir con GTA en historia y misiones es éste sin duda. Lo peor del juego es que el estudio cerró y seguramente no veamos una segunda entrega a pesar que se está anunciando una película y lo está pidiendo a gritos. Juego que en PC mediante keys está tirado, hay que jugarlo.

    Mix the open-world of classic titles like Gta V and Saints Row, then add a very interesting plot about the chinese yakuza, then throw in some good old Yakuza-games style of combat. You've got yourself one of my personal favorites in all of gaming industry, beautiful game

    Melee combat is so fun. Hong Kong look amazing! Loved the city so much. Also i think there are interesting characters and story but the end of the game my biggest problem about this game. I just didn't like it

    Sleeping dogs is one of the best action-fighting games with open world i have played. It has a lot of benefits. Firstly, it is a story. It is just absolutely marvelous, you can clearly see protagonist's emotion about what happens among the harsh Hong Kong's criminal world. Plot itself contains a lot of twists and good characters,    One of the most underestimated action games i have seen.

    Sleeping dogs is one of the best action-fighting games with open world i have played. It has a lot of benefits. Firstly, it is a story. It is just absolutely marvelous, you can clearly see protagonist's emotion about what happens among the harsh Hong Kong's criminal world. Plot itself contains a lot of twists and good characters, so you will not be bored. Secondly, it is gameplay. Beating enemies with kung-fu style is just marvelous! Plus, it has shooting and driving, which are also made good. Also, it has romances.

    Cons of this game are, as for me, open world . It is just simply not too interesting, The game has random events, but most of them repeat.

    I can recommend this game to anyone who like fighting games, open world-games and games with good plot, and for those who just like good games.    … Expand

    Very good I/we really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, a windows 10 update ruined the game, so I couldn't finish it, but the game is great. Good story, good combat system, great missions.

    Неплохая игра-песочница с китайскими мотивами. Колоритная стилистика, интересный сюжет, игра в двойного агента и свои фишечки это хорошо. Игра мало напоминает гта, упор здесь сделан с рукопашку, которая сделана просто и удобно, никаких хитромудрых комбо из нескольких клавиш. 8/10.Неплохая игра-песочница с китайскими мотивами.     The game is slightly outdated, but it delivers the proper "GTA mood", that you haven't felt since San-Andreas: memorable characters, simple and catchy missions, violence, romance, and bro-kind-of-fun. In addition, it's probably the best beat-em-up, way more pleasing than what Spider-Man and Batman games provided.

    It is one of the best open-world games and easily comparable to the likes of GTA. Its not only fun to play but has an intriguing storyline and great characters and voice actors. The story is set in Hong Kong and the map is beautiful with congested and over-populated streets, with noise and beauty around every corner which makes it feel like a living city.
