Shakedown: Hawaii is a great take on the 2D GTA formula, that adds its own flavor. It’s full of content, it goes straight to the point and it’s a lot of fun. The sequel Retro City Rampage deserves.

More than a “more of the same”, Shakedown Hawaii improves almost everything it takes from Retro City Rampage and introduces new mechanics. Not everything works as it should, but it never lacks ambition. Moreover, his 16bit style is super cool.

    A brisk free-roaming action game with a clicker-ish heart.

Like other reviewers have said, it tries a lot to be funny without succeeding, the retro aesthetic is overdone, and the few new things it introduces I personally dislike, for example the finances and the purchasing of real-estate or other businesses.

Everything new it tries to do is very minor or not done very well. The storyline really is nothing to be interested in, it's messily written and the gameplay is chaotic yet bland. What you have to do is a lot of times confusing and you just skip from one mission to the next, without any kind of reward, progress, or joy.

I also got stuck in the first hour due to a horribly designed quest, and in the second hour due to a bug, so do with that what you will.

It tries to entertain, but the jokes are rude and angry without being funny.
Gameplay is chaotic, graphics are barely passing. The retro look is overdone by now, it fails to charm and impress.
Not worth your money at all.
