May 6, 2019Shakedown: Hawaii is a great take on the 2D GTA formula, that adds its own flavor. It’s full of content, it goes straight to the point and it’s a lot of fun. The sequel Retro City Rampage deserves.
-
May 26, 2019More than a “more of the same”, Shakedown Hawaii improves almost everything it takes from Retro City Rampage and introduces new mechanics. Not everything works as it should, but it never lacks ambition. Moreover, his 16bit style is super cool.
-
May 20, 2019Stylish Shakedown: Hawaii hits the mark with its 16-bit look and great soundtrack. Retro GTA fans will also get a similar mix with the predecessor Retro City Rampage in the DX version - without grafted-up, ultimately unnecessary economic simulation elements.
-
May 13, 2019Hawaii Shakedown is one of the prime examples of open world dynamics with retro art style. If you missed old school GTA games, you should definitely try this game.
-
Edge MagazineJun 20, 2019A sandbox where waypoint distances are measured in pixels, and journeys are over in seconds, is surely one worth celebrating. [Issue#334, p.122]
-
May 20, 2019A bittersweet successor to an indie classic. Shakedown: Hawaii is a fun game that pokes fun at capitalism and unethical business practices that, in the end, falls flat.
-
May 7, 2019In spite of all its flaws there’s something about Shakedown: Hawaii that’s quite addictive – probably the fact as players we love numbers increasing and Shakedown: Hawaii does it in a moreish way. Whether intentional or not, VBlank Entertainment Inc. has nabbed aspects from GTA and although it misses the mark, it’s still impressive how it’s condensed such an experience to fit within such a tiny world.
