    The wasted Potential of this game almost made me cry. The world and graphics are absolutely beautyful, yet the gameplay slaughters it in the worst way possible. Janky and extremely boring PvE, boring enemies with no variation whatsoever, extreme grind with nearly no progression, very few cosmetics, which are the only progression there is. Because of how boring everything in this game is,The wasted Potential of this game almost made me cry. The world and graphics are absolutely beautyful, yet the gameplay slaughters it in the worst way possible. Janky and extremely boring PvE, boring enemies with no variation whatsoever, extreme grind with nearly no progression, very few cosmetics, which are the only progression there is. Because of how boring everything in this game is, most people do only one thing thats not repetetive: sinking other players. And while it's cool to have PvP, it's not when you get no chance to do anything because theres hordes of pirate legends ready to chase you to the edge of the map. What, you think it is unfair to go 1v4 against a much much stronger ship? Noo, why would that be?

    +2 for graphics and funny pirates. -8 for incomprehensible gameplay, and inability to get rid of the red barrel in the hands. How can you explode it underwater?

    Teaming up 4 player massive ship against me 1 player smallest ship and players just kill you for spite being arses and just wanting to kill you, losing over 4 hours of progress since the game last saved. No offline or single player option. Will NOT recommend to anyone I know of which is about a dozen people for now.

    This game ACTIVELY punishes you for playing smart. The combat is a joke, the difficulty is all over the place and is just "give enemy absurd health". Community is toxic AF. Cannot recommend in any capacity. Complete waste of my money.

    I really want to give this game a higher rating, it's got an immersive atmosphere, emotionally moving soundtrack, gorgeous water graphics, thrilling gameplay and engaging storylines... that are all ruined by the absolute WORST playerbase of any game I have ever played since the dawn of multiplayer online gaming. Global achievement stats show that roughly 80 percent of players don't get toI really want to give this game a higher rating, it's got an immersive atmosphere, emotionally moving soundtrack, gorgeous water graphics, thrilling gameplay and engaging storylines... that are all ruined by the absolute WORST playerbase of any game I have ever played since the dawn of multiplayer online gaming. Global achievement stats show that roughly 80 percent of players don't get to experience any more than 10% of the games content because of the toxic pvp problem this game has that goes constantly ignored by Rare. I have read hundreds of complaints about the toxic pvp yet for some reason Rare continues to cater to the tiniest minority of its most hateful and toxic players both inside AND outside the game, including inviting streamers to be guests at their official events who encourage their viewers to send hateful abusive comments and death threats to people they don't like. I would love to be able to recommend and even buy this game as a gift for friends but until the toxicity and pvp issues are fixed I just can't. It's the most disappointing waste of potential I've ever seen in a game and you shouldn't waste your money.… Expand

Basically 3 kinds of repeatable missions you grind for gold and reputation that can only be spent on a VERY modest selection of cosmetic items, and a kraken that is nothing but tentacles you shoot at until it dies, at which point you receive an achievement and NOTHING else. For $60 this game is a joke.I just described 95% of content in the game. It's not even an exaggeration, there is NOTHING here.

    PvP is very rare and if you do see another ship they can evade you incredibly easily and it is almost never rewarding to fight unless you somehow get on the enemy ship and steal their chests and bring it back to your own ship before destroying theirs (which is highly impractical).    … Expand

    This game entirely depends on you to make your own fun. No plot to speak of, repetitive quests and uncontrolled griefing.
    There's a couple of hours of content, after that it's up to you to organise your own excitement.

    - quests are repetitive (Go to a place, kill same skeletons, find the treasure.) - repeat.
    - No progression. You are the same the whole time.
    - Gameplay is very weak.

    Toxic community. Very unbalanced game when it comes to 2-4 player teams. Also very clunky game mechanics that should be disabled during pvp. Some enemy makes a mistake and lands in the water during a fight? Don't worry, a marmaid will instantly bring him back on the ship, no matter how far he is away.

    The game is fun but the grind is too big and a session can be ruined for casual players by sweaty pvp players. I can only recommend buying this if they implement a pve surver or let casual players host a private session.

    The developers don't spend enough time fixing all the bugs they introduce with each update so by the time they finally got around to adding ANY PvP content, they had already created so many issues that the game is no longer viable as a competitive platform.

    Sea of Thieves has successfully redeemed its clumsy launch with Rare being a developer that fully commits to the title with monthly updates for more than two years. Now – it is a game brimming with content, adventure and gorgeous pirate atmosphere with arguably being the best pirate game available and a truly fun multiplayer experience.
