Terrible game. It seems cool, you get that feel like when you collected cards as a kid and got excited to see what you got until you realize nearly a good quarter of the cards are near-useless or underpowered. Then you get into the game and realize there are literally nerds running rampant with their spreadsheets making decks that are minmaxed for the current balance of the currentTerrible game. Then you get into the game and realize there are literally nerds running rampant with their spreadsheets making decks that are minmaxed for the current balance of the current version. This isn't as bad as the fact that you buy the game and literally have to grind like it's an F2P game, after you already paid for it. This would make me upset if I got this game for more than the $1 I paid for it.

To top it off bad community. They say they are nice but bring up any flaw in the game that is obvious and they turn into furious fanboys and viciously attack you. These people must be mad they invested so much time during it's beta and so much money just for the game to release in such bad shape. Literally the #1 killer of this game though is decay. The most overpowered deck. For 1/10 the cost of what your enemy spent you can wipe out a whole row of enemy units, decked out enchanted and whatnot. Or for a small price you can temporarily negate the attack of your enemy during their turn when their attack counter is ready, turning an expensive unit into a weakling with no attack for 1/5 the cost of said unit. Even worse is a better version called languid which PERMANENTLY knocks 2 damage off a unit's attack for very little cost. Again, taking an expensive unit and making it as weak as a smaller cheap one for less cost. The balance issues are so glaring and the idiotic fanboys keep saying it's fine while using nothing but decay to win over and over and over. I got it for a buck, I got a buck of enjoyment and had to take several bucks in pain relievers because of all the BS that entails this failure of a game. Shame Mojang chose to work on this over Minecraft, this is so terrible. By the way don't listen to the 10 scores, if you read them you can tell it's biased non-real reviews probably by paid Mojang team members.

Scrolls is a waste of time and money. Only positive about this game is its fair pay model.
The game is infested with elitist community members, boring stall decks and the devs lack any sort of incentive to change this. Game last between 20-30 minutes. The game is filled with imbalances, poor design, poor animations and questionable patches. To make things worse, the game usually only has

To make things worse, the game usually only has 100-200 people online (on peak hours!) and despite being a 'beta', the devs have a seperate test server which only certain people can access. Please, do not support this game. If you are looking for a fun, balanced and exciting TCG/CCG, look up Hearthstone, Infinity Wars, Duels of the Planeswalkers or just play some paper Magic.

Wow. Just... wow. I have been playing this failed attempt of an online TCG for several hours now because i couldn't believe the negative votes this game has gotten. I couldn't believe that a developer would be so dumb to put the most basic, fundamental features behind a paywall.

Just let me count off the things you cannot do in the "demo"/"free" version: - upgrade/craft

Just let me count off the things you cannot do in the "demo"/"free" version:

    - upgrade/craft scrolls/cards.
    - buy anything else than the most basic, randomized cards/booster packs in the in-game store
    - edit&save your in-game avatar that you also have to pay for with in-game currency as well.
    - sell&buy scrolls to&from other players.
    - play ranked matches.
    - choose your own starter deck/faction. (I got Growth even though i've read on the internet several times that it's one of the weakest factions of the game. The starter deck is horrible, and even after buying several scrolls and packs from the store plus having read the strategy hints at the "scrolls academy" the AI still curbstomped me in the skirmish mode on easy because the AI gets the better cards and also when it needs them at the right time.
    - play against other players in ranked matches.

I cannot understand why someone would prefer this over Hearthstone, for several reasons.

True, Hearthstone may be simpler at first glance, but with Hearthstone you don't have to grind and/or pay to get promised features.

Hearthstone has free ranked matches, you can buy booster packs with ingame currency and you can use the crafting system without having to pay to unlock the feaure.

Additionally, the number of players online is a good indicator as well... the most recent number being around 2000 players. No, not in an hour or so, but... yesterday. Whole day. Hearthstone comparatively has a player base of around 30 million in total. Not because the game is made by Blizzard Entertainment, but because Hearthstone can be fun to play, offers a fair and square pay model and because it doesn't put up a pay wall for basic features.

Don't waste your time with Scrolls. Go play a fun game, even if it's not Hearthstone.

I strongly urge you to give Scrolls a chance, especially that there’s a free demo available and the full game costs next to nothing. [02/2015, p.54]

A clever card battler that's fantastic for genre fans, but too hard to pick up to win many new ones. [Mar 2015, p.70]

While its an advancement on Hearthstone mechanically, if Hearthstone is the standard for the genre these days, then invariably Scrolls becomes one for CCG veterans only.
