    This game is a meh. I couldnt finish it because of very often stupid dialoagues and characters. Really a disappointment from the studio that made Gothic, one of the best games ever.

    I enjoyed Risen 1, kinda liked Risen 2. I read nothing about Risen 3 because I wanted to be surprised when ever I get the game. So what does Piranhna Bytes you say... They give a new hero who was never mentioned before and you dont give a damn about and copy most of the islands from Risen 2 and improving nothing on the horrible combat system, Piranhna Bytes please learn something from yourI enjoyed Risen 1, kinda liked Risen 2.     Terrible combat mechanics, terribly boring dialogues which are worst interpreted from all games i ever played since 2003 , horrific loot picking . Worst of all ,the game is BORING at all.

    the combat sucks. gameplay feels like risen 2, the franchise had problems since the day of risen 1. but risen 1 was great but not on the xbox 360. risen 2 wasn't bad but still was **** and risen 3 was bad. i don't hate this franchise. but the combat sucks, story is cliche. and deep silver. why all the voice actors from your library sucks ?.

    Just bought this game and installed it on my PC. As soon as played it for an hour, it bores me. It did not meet my expectations, thought it could surpassed Skyrim or other games like it, but sadly it did not. Waste of money and time. I could have gone for Farcry4 which is on my 2nd list when i bought it. If this game sucks bigtime, how much more the other 2 which came before it.

    I really wanted to like this game. Found the world to be interesting and felt compelled to explore it, however.. this game has some really REALLY terrible controls and feels clunky as hell at every turn, and I had it setup for use with the XBox controller..

    The voice acting is pretty bad, to the point where it was just annoying to listen to less than an hour into this, and why did it    I really wanted to like this game.     I will try to summarize it. In general Risen 3 was a mediocre/bad game, especially considering that it came from the Gothic developer.

    Graphics: Definitely low quality for a 2014 game, even Risen 1 had better looking graphics Sound/Music: Pretty generic, nothing memorable Story: Messed up, too many elements put together without proper explanation. Questions from Risen 1 never got    I will try to summarize it. In general Risen 3 was a mediocre/bad game, especially considering that it came from the Gothic developer.

    Graphics: Definitely low quality for a 2014 game, even Risen 1 had better looking graphics Sound/Music: Pretty generic, nothing memorable

    Story: Messed up, too many elements put together without proper explanation. Questions from Risen 1 never got answered, instead they added extra story elements that only managed to confuse as more.

    World Design: Weak. It doesn't feel realistic and unique. Multiple islands and invisible walls spoil the "open world" feeling. Too many empty areas without the proper content, only filled with randomly placed enemies. There is not a single town in the whole game.

    NPC's: Again, weak. Voice acting is below average, there are many NPC's and companions but the fail to immerse you in the game world. They have no strong personality. Too many dialogues that become boring. I would prefer less, and more meaningful ones. Speaking gnomes turn the game into a parody destroying the "mature" feeling.

    Combat: Better animations than R2, but still it doesn't feel right especially in the beginning. Enemies have a unnatural long attack range causing you headache and extremely bad AI. As the game progresses combat gets easier but also repetitive and boring. Magic is a good addition, but it doesn't seem to fit in the pirate/caribbean setting.

    Inventory: Same from Risen 2. Extremely unpractical, I would prefer Risen 1 inventory instead.    … Expand

    This game sucked. It's not average. It's not bellow average. It just sucks. The story is terrible, and poorly written, recycling tons of cliches from about everything, and you freaking play as Christian Bale. I'm not joking. He looks like Christian Bale, he goes around being a douche to everyone and he is generally uninteresting. Just like every character in the game. I didn't like aThis game sucked. It's not average. It's one button and a block. I'm serious. And because of this, combat is extremely hard, and not in a challenging, tactical way like in Dark Souls, it's just impossible to beat anything other than rabbits because they have light and heavy attacks, and you don't! The game randomly picks for you. Stupid. Also, the graphics are still as crappy as Risen 2, with low res textures and some just ugly environments. Boss battles are QTE's. That's it. But it's better than playing the actual combat. I poured 80 hours into this piece of **** 80 hours of boredom. If you buy this game, it will happen to you too. STAY AWAY! STAY FAR AWAY!… Expand

    Visuals:Strangely, some areas look ok to good, others outright suck.The water looks good, everything else not.Rocks for example look really terrible.Sometimes they blend so bad in with the backround that everything "melts" together.Hurts the eyes, really!There is an issue with the settings for the shadows.If you reduce it to a certain level youll have little squares all over the place.Its annoying.What is good, the games will run on every machine out there.I heard some complains about the performance on some systems, got no problems myself though.

    Sound:This is really strange.Its a german game and the german voiceover is sooooooo bad.The english too, no question.The cast for the voices was not very motivated, you can hear that.Maybe because the dialogues are so cheap and bad written.The music, i dont know, the best youll ever hear in the game will be the theme in the menu.The enviromental sounds are......not there i think.There is a jungle, it doesnt sound like a jungle.There is a isle with a vulcano and a stream of lava in the middle of the isle, even there its quiet and suddenly some noises pop in when you come nearer.Its cheap, sorry.

    Gameplay:Storytelling was never a strong point of PB-Games.That was interesting back when Gothic 1 was freshly out.Now its 2014.No evolution in that point.The story is boring at best.The cheap dialogues really heard here too.Its not engaging, no NPC is memorable.Bad for the story and the world.I couldnt care less about this world.Here, games like Mass Effect set a standard i think in terms of dialogues and interesting NPCs.So, the story is bad?How about the strong point of PB Games?Exploration!Yeah this is kinda gone as a strongpoint.The game is cut into pieces with the isles.You have some isles and not a complete world.Its not that much to explore.If you explore, you find SOMETHING, but that something is not really of importance.Youll find some quests out in the wild, ok but they are not really rewarding.The quests are a problem of their own.Boring at best.They feel like MMO quests.Fetch and bring, kill 10 monsters.Cheap, lazy.What really pisses me of is the combat system.Some claimed it is frustrating.Yes and no!Look some reviews, like angry Joes.He suckz at risen.In the first hours you need to duck and roll.Than its really an easy game, youll look through the enemy movement after minutes and know when they attack.I NEVER died in the game because of a fight.There are some imbalances in the system.Like the daggers, they are too strong.Better than magic i think(at least better than the demonhunter magic).

    All in all, this game is lazy.50€ is too much.Where the production time went into?Not the story, not the quests, not the combat.Nothing is new, nothing is fresh.The game is a solid 5/10 but there is the issue with the laziness and the DLC problem.They cut out content and reuse many things from Risen 2.This is a no go!!!For that, its just a 3/10!!!!    … Expand

    I'm going to start of with something i love about the game, and what i loved about the previous games Piranha Bytes made, this is the freedom to explore, and although at the beginning your are limited i find that there are still secrets and nooks. I'm hoping that the game developers intended me to laugh at some of the completely Useless conversations you would have with your companion during the beginning, its like the developers assumed 6 year old's were going to play (Not that they aren't seeing as i played Gothic 1 when i was 5)
    Personally I loved the Main character's voice in the Gothic Series, but the voiced used in "Titan Lords" makes me cringe every time i hear it, almost making me mute the sound all together,

    The Graphics are outdated, however this hasn't been a problem for me in the previous games Piranha Bytes have made, i feel as if the other disappointing aspects of the game allowed for the realization of how terrible the graphics of the game I'm playing is.

    The combat system seems worse than that of Risen 2, finding myself randomly swinging in certain directions and "barrel rolling" everywhere in order to dodge the rapid attacks the monsters i was fighting, which reminds me of the terrible combat in Gothic 3 against monsters (them repetitively jumping back)

    Overall i'm glad i borrowed a friends copy and didn't waste the $50 or so dollars buying it, However ill i'm still going to play it for the story, which i hope will at least give me some love for the company once again.    … Expand

    The inventory system seems to be ported straight out of Risen 2. It's kind of cluttered and messy compared to Risen 1.

    Combat feels clumsy, and animations seem poor. Just try to jump, and see how it slows down and floats like you somehow slow down time while mid-air.

    Textures seem poorly done, as you can often see "smeared" and warped textures all over. And the resolution seem to be low and badly applied many places.
    Including characters.

    This was really bad, and I am very certain i won't even finish this game.
    Sadly, as i had looked forward to this one.

    I think the main problem is that they try to hard to please us, and just end up halfways on so many points, that the overall presentation of the game is quite low.

    I can't believe they expect to sell me this in 2014. And i am not really being cruel here.

    It just seems very bad and rushed. Maybe they try to hard to please critics, and end up working too hard in the wrong places...

    Massive failure in my eyes. It's quite a shame for the Risen series, really.

    -Story - you dont want play this game more...
    -Game engine - Pirahna Bytes just recycled bad Risen 2...
    -Everything, making this game low flight category,...

    -Pirahna Bytes this time really assured us that they CAN'T makes games anymore, so hopefully no Gothic game on sight....

    Overally, If they make game from a scratch, maybe something good will there be. But lazy dudes just recycled Risen 2 (which was bad taken game overall) and makes something "nah, Risen 2.5 done, just give us money, we are back to roots!" No come back to roots, just lying to fans, no progress, why dont do somethin on shape of Gothic 1/2 or Risen 1, which was really great game?     The combat/gameplay however is absolutely horrendous. This is easily the WORST combat I have ever seen in a game, in my entire span of gaming. It completely ruins the experience.     Anyway at the start the game is hard, and the thing i dont like in a rpg is that u have to depend on your crewmate to tank all the dmg while u stand behind the monster loading up attacks and the monsters attack the one who is closest and attacks them, their attack pattern is just broken at start, the boss fight are taking right from an mmo no inovation, the last boss is a joke, and the ending was awful. So the game is hard as hell at the start and u will die alot if you don't have bones tanking all the damage. the problem is after you manage to survive and you start to lvl up your melee and get a good weapon then the game becomes tooooo easy.

    after 10 hours i had good weapon and much glory in melee i just wrecked everything until the last boss then the powerspike comes hes hard as hell and annoying as hell.

    the voice acting is soo bad makes it hard to believe this game came out 2014, as many say yes, he sounds like he has throat cancer, and there is nothing interesting about the main character i have no idea why they decided to not continue the game with the protagonist from risen 1 and 2 atleast u could listen and not skip all the conversations.

    Everyone is boring as hell there is no interesting character maybe mendoza from first risen but rest are awful. And oo did you notice patty managed to grow like 5-7 sizes of boobs in 1 game.

    for 49:99 dollars this game is not worth it. this game will only be worth buying when it costs like 10-15 euro on steam.

    Man this was wasted cash, oo and you get instant health by drinking alcohol, and you don't get drunk, yes very very good.

    I was terribly disappointed, the early parts of the game were much better in terms of gameplay, and in terms of dialogue. Can not even download it, waste of time.

    stay far away from this trash. do not listen to the people rating it as anything other than a 6 because they are shills and delusional fan boys. this game is hot garbage. the voice acting, the story and quests are all extremely repetitive and uninteresting. what it comes down to is combat. most of the game is about combat. if the combat wasn't so horrendous then you could overlook thestay far away from this trash. do not listen to the people rating it as anything other than a 6 because they are shills and delusional fan boys. this game is hot garbage. the voice acting, the story and quests are all extremely repetitive and uninteresting. what it comes down to is combat. most of the game is about combat. if the combat wasn't so horrendous then you could overlook the other things, but you can't because the combat IS horrendous. every enemy uses the same attack pattern which is attack you two or three times faster than you can swing your sword, warp back ten feet and warp towards you from ten feet away. there's no variation in any enemy attack patterns except for larger creatures and bosses, but then they have the same **** attack patterns as each other. also the hero seems to always want to do the longest attack animation possible which is slowly spin around and swing your sword. yeah, you have no control over the type of attack animations you do. it's completely random. you can do a "fast" attack one second and the next four attacks you do this **** ballerina attack like some kind of ****. since your attacks are so slow enemies always hit you because their attacks are seemingly three times faster than your attacks. what all this means is that combat turns into an unpleasant experience that involves rolling around and turning small fights against weak creatures into five minute affairs.

    if you can stomach the horrible combat without tearing out your hair you will eventually join a faction. now, what factions do is break the game. after you join a faction combat then becomes a joke with all these spells that completely break any sort of balance this game might of had, which was pretty much no balance at all. anyway, you get these spells that make combat go from incredibly frustrating to incredibly easy and even more **** boring. you get spells that give you ridiculous attack speed, spam able range attacks that mop the floor with groups of enemies and other things that make it so you'll never have a challenge again.

    i've never seen a game that missed "it" quite like risen 3. it does nothing well and the game design is so blatantly schizophrenic that pb must have been doing heroin when they developed this game. i'm not even trying to be a sensationalist here, but this is one of the worst games of all time.     there is little to say, for i have not played it a very long time. the game does not start very well. unlikable character with no option to customize looks or gender, poor combat mechanics, a somewhat "old" look with sometimes low res textures, dreadful voiceacting and mixed animation ( sometimes very good, sometimes - especially in cutscenes ...    below average, way below expectations

    Did they creators of Risen pay you guys. This game is pretty broken. Creature difficulty is off the charts no matter how big they are they seem to dodge your attacks. I roll in circles trying not to get hit and all the creatures are so fast and your character is slow. Story is alright, but so many quests that are useless and boring. This isnt an MMO. c'mon

    I can't tell that the character is whether dancing or slashing while in combat, just slow as hell. The main missions require SIDE missions to complete, just totally confused on completing quests.

    I just wanted to play a Gothic game, not a pirate game with **** graphics and unplayable combat with dodges that make you invulnerable. The story is terrible, the islands are too small, the atmosphere is **** I really wanted this game to be at least not worse than Risen 1, but I guess that's too much to ask.

    The Good:
    Voice acting to be had everywhere, and while I have heard some complain about it I think it was done well myself. Sadly that is the only positive I feel I can write here.
    The Bad: 1. Graphics are dated somewhat but not terrible. 2. Lack of variety in monsters 3. Takes too long to get into a style of combat other than generic melee where you can start speccing your toon    The Good:

    3. Takes too long to get into a style of combat other than generic melee where you can start speccing your toon

    4. Feels too linear and claustrophobic.

    5. Story meh.

    6. Loot sucks and 90% of the chests are locked. If you don't have lockpicking high enough you're screwed.

    7. Terrible melee combat that involves spamming dodge more than striking your opponent.

    8. Inconsistencies in quest dialogues, allows too much out of order conversation choices that don't make sense.

    Bottom line, don't bother with it. I paid full price and can't see myself finishing this game....would not even bother with it when it hits a low Steam sale.    … Expand

    Heyyo, this is another broken Risen game... Pirana Bytes yet again seem to never learn their damn lessons... enemies attack in 1/10th of a second yet the player has a full second animation on his sword swing... brutal.

    This is actually Risen 2 with updated graphics, about 80% of the game looks, feels and plays exactly like Risen 2, however the combat is a lot worse because of the fact that that you fight as if your character is frozen, the enemies themselves are unbalanced and unfair, and you need to get lucky in order to win against enemy A.I, not because they are smart, but because your "bad-ass"This is actually Risen 2 with updated graphics, about 80% of the game looks, feels and plays exactly like Risen 2, however the combat is a lot worse because of the fact that that you fight as if your character is frozen, the enemies themselves are unbalanced and unfair, and you need to get lucky in order to win against enemy A.I, not because they are smart, but because your "bad-ass" character moves with the grace of stone statue.

    Risen 3 Titan Lords-very bad game.There spirit of old school,but we need to understand,that spirit of old school end in 2004.Game have weird animations,bad voice acting,bad color gamut,and this list can be endless.By modern standarts this game deserves -10/10.We should "congratulate"Deep Silver and Piranha Bytes with this "greatest"game in series.

    The Germans took a step back and reintroduced more of the distinctive atmosphere of the Gothic series and the first Risen, which is a huge advantage for me. The world is so vivid and lively that it really makes you want to be there and see as much of the vast content as possible. It’s a shame that the game’s engine is visibly aging and the story lacks the punch. [10/2014, p.48]
