A completely derivative, mouldy, boring hack job created by a once renowned studio. Looks like the hero of Risen 3 is not the only one who lost his soul.

While the game builds on the legacy of its previous installments, it also repeats old mistakes. Only for the tolerant camp of the series' hardcore fans. [Issue#245]

The game’s one saving grace could be the wealth of content, like items and stuff you can do. That seems irrelevant in a game that has little depth and very few elements that could keep you playing.

With such an uninspired story and shockingly bad combat, the glimpses of entertaining side quests drown in misery and frustration. Filled with clichés and outdated mechanics, Risen is stuck in the quagmire of RPG development and screams out for innovation.

The whole experience isn’t awful, just thoroughly uninspiring; a box of biscuits where some are moldy and all are digestive. It’s fun to be a pirate, but it’s far, far more fun elsewhere, with Risen 3 once again struggling and failing to rise above anything but its own mediocrity.

Bloated in the mission department, threadbare everywhere else, Risen 3: Titan Lords is cobbled together from rehashed material, and the series' many flaws are enhanced a hundredfold in the process.

There is a lot of that things that were the best in Risen and Gothic series. Combat system is dynamic and enjoyable. Game world has been made perfectly. You can decide where your hero will sail on a ship almost at game start. Story is very good and surprising. Risen 3 is one of the best RPG game of this year by me.
    You need to buy it!

I mean, for one, the story is cliche beyond all measures. The side quests, which are in abundance, which is one of the games only good points, are MMO like, with cheaply written lines that are acted out by cheap voice acters, and like I said, felt like they should be in an MMO, not a AAA RPG. Combat is still bad. It uses an MMO like hotbar system, which isnt bad IF they had any talent to pull it off. But they dont. What results is a uber-dull combat system, which, as I said, makes it seem like it should belong in an MMO. The graphics look bad, aswell. I can see this getting by on consoles, but running it on the Max settings on PC, I laughed at how bad it looked. I mean, c'mon. A 7 year old game on low(Crysis) looked a lot better then this. The lip syncing is still off, and the animations are poor. All tropes of an MMO.
Anyway, the only good thing about this is that it has over 200 quests, which really isn't that much by todays standards, but anyway...
This one is a miss, again. Its mediocre at its best moments, which don't happen to often. I'm not going to go so far as to say that I want my money back, but really, I was expecting a decent single player RPG,NOT a cheap MMO.

Risen 1, and Gothic 1 & 2 were amazing. Risen 2 was horrible, and it seems that after all the false advertising by Piranha Bytes/Deep Silver, they have learned absolutely nothing. Combat is terrible, the silly pirate theme is still here, the story/dialogue horrendous...I could go on, but I won't waste my time. If you loved Gothic 1 & 2, and Risen 1 than you'll hate this game. Sadly, Piranha Bytes has turned into talentless hacks. Do not buy. Full Review »
