It's a bit of a tragedy. i never thought the pCARS games were good games, but at least they were mediocre sims. pCARS 3 is a MUCH better GAME than its predecessors, the career is much better and it's much more fun to play with a controller now, which was almost unplayable before.

It's a lot of fun to finally be able to enjoy those great tracks, that have always existed, in a more arcade

It's a lot of fun to finally be able to enjoy those great tracks, that have always existed, in a more arcade like racer, but it defies my understanding why they didn't call it Shift 3 instead, as that is basically what this game is.

The game is nothing like the first two games, which seems like suicide from the marketing perspective, as it's clear as sauce this will greatly anger the long time fans and probably be overlooked by the more casual racers, who like Forza Horizon or GRiD, cause that's where this game is aimed at now.

From a GAMER'S perspective I have WAY MORE fun with this game, than with the other two games though, UNTIL......

Yeah, until one discovers, that the progression in this game feels very level-gated, which gives the whole game the feeling of a mobile game, which is somehow underlined by the truly lacklustre presentation, which looks clearly worse than on pCARS2, all while not really performing better.

The VR mode atm is broken and unplayable for me, as it unexplicably jitters along from time to time.

Sorry SMS, your last two games already released broken and unfinished but were never fixed. Please do better this time.

As a verdict: I don't understand who this game is for. This would be a good game without the mobile progression, which simply reeks like GaaS and monetisation.

I'd give it an 8, if it wasn't for that, but as it is I can't give more than a 6 right now.

    PC3 is a solid game...
The handling feels a bit weird at the start but when I got used to it a few races down the road it got easier....
It has some nice cars but it lacks a lot of production cars.... From BMW, I did not expect to see older models that are race only... It takes a lot of grinding to get more cars, specially because you don`t get money after completing every event, but

It takes a lot of grinding to get more cars, specially because you don`t get money after completing every event, but when you reach an EXP goal...
A lot of timed events have some terrible goals that are hard to achieve...
No matter how fast I am, I don`t get all of them...
Then, the worst thing about the game, the penalty system...
For being pushed of track or simply just touching a wall, my lap time gets invalidated !
That is the most stupid thing I have ever seen...
I am glad that the game has the progression at has but it feels too grindy...
I don`t want to be able to get a car every other event but I don`t want to not buy one I want either just because a championship requires a specific car to buy...
The game overall is solid, there are those issues that irritate me but I must say that I like it a whole lot more than the previous 2
    A lot of grinding

Fine racing game, the so-called arcade simulator
Plays very well on a gamepad and forgives a lot of mistakes
But not as good as previous games and cannot compete with the best games that came before.

Project CARS 3 is no longer Project CARS. Even if basically, it's still a very good racing game, with a complete career mode and great content. It is nowhere near as good as the first 2 games, which had made many players want to take the wheel, to play a racing game. Here, a controller is enough to enjoy the title. And it's borderline even better. In fact, Project CARS reminds us a bit of Saints Row. With his first two opus, he tried to impose his style of simulation. Seeing that even with all the best efforts in the world, it was impossible to do as well as the real simulations. He took a new turn, more arcade, just to find a new audience. The problem is that in taking such a turn, Slightly Mad Studios has made the choice to turn its back on its community. The same community that pushed the first two opus to the forefront. A detrimental choice, if a 4th opus saw the light of day on Next-Gen. Expand

I'm not a sim gamer especially since I'm gamepad and don't have the time or patience for faux sim on a pc nor the money/interest in getting a full wheel/peddles etc setup to make it closer to sim. Better off going to REAL WORLD racing school and/or local club racing imo. I skipped PC2 after the messy game that PC1 was but may give it a try. -I can see what people are talking about, it doesn't seem to carry on the traditional Project Cars franchise of in depth sim but I certainly think it's not nfs level of arcade. As long as people go into it with those in mind it's not too bad.
-Not a big fan of the menu system which is a pain to navigate. You can't even tweak the settings until a race or two and they're not that easy to find either.
-Setting up custom offline single player races is supposed to give you access to ALL cars etc but that's not been my experience, I only had access to the first crappy car I could buy. Dumb. It's going to take way too long to be able to unlock all the cars for my patience level, too many other games going that are funner for me.
-I usually keep one simcade type of track racer on my system so this is it for now. I also have one type of nfs game and the two rally games, wrc and dirt rally which I prefer to track racing games no AI cheating by bumping and no AI non-penalties to deal with in rally games.
-I'm guessing that PC2 would be the better option in this franchise if you want the full range of possibilities. With the settings in PC2 you can most likely set it to arcade or simcade levels if you want it so why not just go for that? It's most likely cheaper as well and all patched out, but I didn't have any crashes etc with this one. You can get the "demos" online for all the PCars games.
-I'm also guessing that the online racing would be actually more populated in this one then the older games so that's a plus if you want that and want to stay in the pcars franchise.

I bought Project Cars 3 with no expectations, and had about 30 hours of gameplay on it until i write this little review.

Let's begin with the graphics. I have an average computer with a 1080 Ti, and was able to max out the graphics at 1080p. The game is beautiful, nothing extraordinary, but it's beautiful. The car models are good, even in the interior. The tracks are clear and well
I bought Project Cars 3 with no expectations, and had about 30 hours of gameplay on it until i write this little review.

Let's begin with the graphics. I have an average computer with a 1080 Ti, and was able to max out the graphics at 1080p. The game is beautiful, nothing extraordinary, but it's beautiful. The car models are good, even in the interior. The tracks are clear and well designed. Let's talk about the weather now... well, i got some surprises, especially with the rain ! When the rain comes, there appears some blurry clouds on the tracks to show that the rain is heavy, but those are pixelated and not so good. The water projection after the car when it rains are also blurry and not so realistic. Sometimes, when the weather is put on x10 timelapse, the sky changes in a frame, like a picture you would change in a millisecond.

About the gameplay, I've not so much to talk about... the car feels good, and we feel when the tires lose grip. The breakes are strange... Even without ABS, it's "hard" to lock the wheels... and the traction isn't so agressive. The solo mode is just a series of mission and races, nothing original, but some missions are cool. You have to manage your money in order to be able to continue you career without doing the same missions again, but you can sell your cars, so that's not to hard.
But that's not what a hated the most in this game... let's talk about AI in solo mode ! The AI is... well... dumb. Even in the highest difficulty, they remain bad at driving in the traffic, they change direction in a millisecond to put just in front of you, et don't hesitate to hit you ! The first lap is always a mess, and you have to drive even more agressively to take the first place. And when you're first... They divebomb you like anybody ever divebombed ! They don't care if you're here or not, they just go for the interior of the curve and get you out of the way, it just doesn't make sense, at all !

As the solo mode was too much for me, I went for some multiplayer. There are several mode at our disposition. First of all there are one click multiplayer races, with random cars and tracks. We can find aswell organized races. 6 tracks, with a determined car category cycling every 2 hours, so a race every 20 minutes, and the 6 races change everyday. You can sign in, choose your car and go to qualification in order to setup the car and make your best time to pick the first place on the grid. And when the hour to go race comes, you get a matchmaking to play with 31 other players. I found it was a cool feature, but never had more than 12 opponents. And let's talk about the opponents... It's not a simulation game, so some pilots... aren't pilots. They just struggle to drive safely and some are really aggresive, some don't hesitate to kick you out of the track, and don't get ant penalty for that. When you cross a pilot which in under blue flag, he is in ghost mode, which is a good thing. But the atmosphere isn't good for making good racing, because of a little amont of players who don't know how to drive, or just don't care of being goood drivers.
We can find aswell a rival mode which proposes a daily, a weekly and a monthly challenge. The challenges are pretty cool, and you get a rank after each challenge, which gives you points, but I don't know what those points are made for...

As a conclusion, this Project Cars 3 is TOTALLY different than the first 2 Project Cars, and it stands as a "sim-arcade" gameplay, but honestly, Gran Turismo does it WAY BETTER. And if you're looking for a clean racing, just don't play this game.

The first Project CARS game designed not only for hardcore simulation fans, but also for more casual racing enthusiasts, was supposed to be love at first sight. Well, it wasn’t. It does boast one of the most enjoyable driving models you can come across nowadays, but it’s not enough. The rest of the game (including the single-player campaign that should have been named Project Grind) falls short of what the best racing games on the market offer. [11/2020, p.52]

Project CARS 3 leaves you with mixed feelings. It has wonderful controls and good arcade physics, but its tracks are too plain and boring for an arcade racing game. It’s even worse if you’re a sim fan – the game will leave totally disappointed. [Issue#248, p.54]
