Only, if only, game publishers take this as a sign that micro-transactions will not be tolerated or at least plainly communicated before implementation.

I appreciate honesty from the people I give my money to. It was a great game, but I cannot possibly recommend a game whose developers act in such a shady manner. If you say no microtransactions, don't add microtransactions. And even if you do, pay2win is never ok.

The developers promised no micro-transactions and now they have added micro-transactions. Don't buy this game, the developers don't care about you and just want your money.

Do you like buying games? Do you like buying DLC for games so that a company can bring you GREAT FREE CONTENT that you have to PAY FOR? Then this game is for you! Seriously though the devs behind this game do not care about their players only about making money, do not purchase any OVERKILL games ever again.

Thanks OVK for enraging and showing your true colors. its not only about the micro-transactions but about the kind of money-hungry garbage you have became. It has bin stated that as long as micro-transactions bring them money they will stay in the game and i can't recommend that to anyone after so many of us defended and supported them thru the dlc, for them to just step on us and going the extra mile to make sure we felt bad about it... Good job!!!

The developers just added microtransactions - Skins you can buy for 2,50€ with certain drop chances. The problem is, these skins give stat boosts, which you can not acquire in another way.

I have played the game for 1140 hours and I am max level in the game.

description of the game: Horde based shooter, where you rob and steal stuff. The developers have made several promises (most of them have been broken later) they have also outright lied several times. One of the features promised would be in the game at release are still not in the game 2 years after release.

    Other problems:

the loot system is a "skinner box" at it will take you at the very least 500 hours to unlock all modifications for the weapons in the game.
    De-sync problems
    No arm or leg hit-boxes
The vanilla weapons are almost always inferior to the DLC weapons.
There are more than 100 dollars worth of DLC
Some of the DLC's are a must buy.
Horrible anti cheat system (there are a lot of cheaters who no clip, do massive damage, spawn a lot of Enemies, or make them not spawn, etc, ruins the fun of the game)
There are micro transactions within the game with stat bonuses (they affect you're weapons, like more damage better, accuracy, less recoil, more ammo, etc)

the only think I can recommend is that you don't buy this game, not even on sale, stay away from this **** of DLC Milking, micro transactions and broken promises from the developers.

The developers decided to completely screw over the entire fan-base, with no remorse. What hurts the most is that the "PR Manager" if you could call him that, "Almir", decided he would pour gasoline onto the fire at the end of it all, with no apologies, basically telling the hardcore fans they don't matter, and that he's happy with the changes they made.

    Never. Again.

Overkill managed to destroy the game. They had a huge community with them. They had all they would dream of. Now they destroyed the game with P2W microtransactions and "balance". Dont even let me start on Completely Overkill Pack.

Dont buy this game, dont support developers like them. In the end, they only care about the money.

Why not just bring a bad game's score down even lower if it truly deserves it? The developers decided to ruin the game one day, and they did a very good job at it.

Overkill have made a once incredible game awful by releasing over $100 of DLC, a large portion of it being considered mandatory to do well in the game by the games community. If that wasn't bad enough, Overkill have added microtransaction skins in what is called "safes", basically CSGO or TF2 cases, but you can't sell these and you can get skins for guns you don't have the DLC for, forcing you to buy DLC to use skins you paid for. They **** up the balance of the game as the skins give boosts to your guns, giving you an edge over players who don't spend extra money (though that was already the case with the dlc's), making it pay to win. They also promised to not add microtransactions in the past.

I feel bad for new players, because this game was pretty fun before the micro-transactions and **** DLC.

The core game is very solid, especially with friends. But as the game aged, it has become a poorly optimised DLC fest, with a very unbalanced micro-transaction system.

The core game itself is good. However, Overkill has implemented pay2win micro transactions in a game where the base cost of the game plus all additional DLCs exceed that of AAA games.

Once upon a time there was a small, independent game studio that emerged from Grin which was dicked over by a contract default. They made a successful game, PDTH, and the sequel was more successful than their wildest dreams, making millions in profits by pre-order only. They were successful because they really were the mythical regular-guys developer that actually interacted with its community, and got a big help from that community in word-of-mouth marketing by devoted fans. Fans built this game and this company. They're the ones who got the game started and continued to buy DLC clinging to the small-indepedent-developer line until it became undeniably false.

Overkill has cashed in every last drop of devotion from the fans who created it. They continued the regular frequency DLC model to manipulate fans into supporting them, then released microtransactions to double dip. They only work on DLC while ignoring simple fixes and bugs, they promise things that take literally years to get a half-♥♥♥♥♥ copout release, if at all, they nerf DLC content after release, and they've rebalanced (nerfed) specific weapons with the sole motivation of creating a wider pool of weapons that people may want to buy skins for rather than actual gameplay reasons.

Overkill does not care about you. Treat them like EA or Ubisoft from now on.

this game sucks so hard they are never going to fix anything and it is almost impossible to play the game without buying 150 dlc's and then you can still waste another 20 bucks to gain a skin with stat boost which brings your weapon over the breakpoint.
going over the breakpoint is insane cause you now only need 1 shot instead of 2 but that's the reason why to spend 20 bucks...

Is now a P2W game. The developers broke their promises. They said they would not add micro-transactions, but they did. Shame. Now the game is ruined, and the company is corrupt from the inside. They did some pretty bad things to modders too, all very shady.

Nothing changes when you hit level 100...just like you do a mission make almost half a million on payout and draw a cash loot card...pointless. I am sure I am not the only one with 417 million in my safe house and nothing to use it on. Speaking of safe house what happened to the safe house customization? seems to me the game was rushed out to soon and loads of stuff is missing..despite all the bugs that could of been fixed during the whole purpose of "beta access" they were not so on release you have tons of people complaining about all the bugs..sounds to me like overkill were jacking off during the whole beta access. The game is not "noob" friendly at all. People like to kick because you are level "1" and everyone is level 30+...if you want to be an ass hat and kick people because of level why don't you set a level requirement or set a private match...idiots...This game could of been way better if release was held a month longer. Knowing this game is not grand theft auto..why is there not a mission where you actually get to "drive" the getaway van with your team? So many things that could be better about this game but probably never will be. I would not recommend this game unless you just like to spend 30 dollars and get bored of it within 3 days of playing... Expand

I loved this game and I have over 225 hours in it. to bad the developers ruined it with micro transactions. Two years ago overkill said they would never put micro transaction in this game because it would ruin it. I guess they should have taken there own advise. what a greedy developer.

It started out with the praise of fans and reviewers alike as one of the most innovative multiplayer games in recent years. This was proof that a small studio could create something that could change the gaming landscape. So many games have tried to recreate the same magic and have failed to do so.

However, all good things must come to an end. Starbreeze Studios AB has proven it is entirely possible to take a game that is a huge monetary success and absolutely drive it into the ground. With the introduction of micro-transactions as a "thank you" for all of the success, the community as a whole is understandably upset and appalled. That is probably the nicest way one could put it.

I've seen a lot of outrage over shortsighted decisions in the gaming community just within the last ten years alone and quite frankly this is one of the most unanimous attempts at communicating with a developer I have seen in quite some time. It is clear: The community is not OK with the direction that the franchise is taking and they are seeing that Starbreeze quite literally sees them as money farms rather than as their long-term fans.

The micro-transactions which were implemented allow for players willing to spend money to get skins for their guns which would give them a competitive advantage over players that had already spent over $200 on the game and were not wanting to spend more on micro-transactions which do not even add any additional gameplay or depth element to the game. To put things bluntly: The micro-transactions didn't improve the game in any way, shape, or form. Instead, they took away from some of the difficulty of the game which admittingly was rather shallow to begin with.

There has been absolutely zero communication from Starbreeze Studios AB or by Overkill in regards to these decisions and actually taking the input provided by the community. The fact that in 48 hours there was no official statement on it is quite disgusting. We are nearly a week separated from the start of the introduction of the micro-transactional elements and neither the developers nor Starbreeze has taken even a single step towards reconciliation with their fans.

It has become rather obvious that the issue is greed. There are a large number of fans which speculate that Starbreeze is merely trying to extract as much money off of the franchise so they can fuel a huge shift towards a mobile market where there is less of a need to offer a solid gaming experience and more weight is placed on making a large number of smaller transactions to get those playing the games to invest money before they can even tell whether they are going to like the game.

Payday 2 has been harmed during this whole process. At this point enough players have paid for the micro-transactions to make undoing the damage impossible; they are already implemented and players already have them. Taking them away could open up legal complications from those which have spent money regardless of whether it was to see just how broken the micro-transactions are or to actually get ahead in the game. It has become clear that neither Starbreeze Studios AB or Overkill have any interest in fixing the issue or reconciling with their fans. The game is going to dwindle in the number of players actively playing it and the gameplay is already stale at this point since missions will become painfully simple with higher enough (or in some cases low enough) stats.

PayDay 2 is one of the nicest surprises of the year. Overkill Software understands the atmosphere of gangster movies and wisely improves these pieces of gameplay, that might have been disappointing in the first game. The sequel is better in almost every way - you can play a thief and enjoy good character development and shooting systems. I really hope, that PayDay 3 will be even better.
