The game really was great BUT.

All promises broken, so many DLC's almost all content locked away, mod support dropped in favor of a microtransaction+skin system that even kan make some weapons better!.

    DO NOT SUPPORT THIS GAME!!!

The additional of microtransactinos has spilt the community into two - the vocal mass and the vocal minority.

Obviously overkill knows about it but refuses to take action.

Greedy developers who broke the game.
"There will be NO micro-transactions in PAYDAY2 !" they said
and now there are expensive skins that boost weapon stats. -.-

Micro trans really? When you said there won't be any. Shame on you and everyone that accepted this nonsense. You should know that not only the steam community is mad at you not only is the currently and former players mad at you but players who were thinking of getting the game are mad at you as well.

I really liked the game when it got released and still got free, good content, I spent ~1000 hours in the game and I thought it was worth the money.

Payday - The Heist, the predecessor of Payday 2 in comparison is a complete game which is hella fun, better spend your money into buying a good, complete game before you end up paying for an unplayable game, which whole reason is to drain money from the players.

Micro-transactions for a 20 USD game with 100+ USD worth of DLC. The micro-transaction skins could be very well behind a DLC wall: you need the DLC in addition to teh skin you just unlocked by chance.
To make it more "fun": the skins have stats.
    No, thank you.

The game at its foundation was quite enjoyable. However, the company milked the game by releasing small DLC at very steep prices, screwing over balance for years on end, and not bothering with a (very much needed) anti-cheat unless it is a hack which allows people to play their paid content for free.

Just now they came back on their decision of not having microtransactions in the game.

Just now they came back on their decision of not having microtransactions in the game. Basically they copy-pasted the CS GO system, but with stats on each skin. They also ruined any notion of balance the game still had at this point.

Also, the engine is outdated and incredibly unoptimized. It was from a racing from 2001 - even though it got improved tremendously since then, it still shows.

Get this game if you can get it (plus most of the DLC) for a few bucks, otherwise don't bother. The game is at the end of its cycle. If you want a game for you to fill this co-op niche, look elsewhere.

They never bothered revamping any part of their engine since launch, but developing a CS GO box system is no prob all of a sudden. Says plenty about this company's mentality. They WILL try to milk you for your cash!

I was a player during 2014 with countless DLCs. Invested lot of cash, even supported Hypetrain (one of the fundraising event for free content) as it had a good idea.

I logged in today just to realize that they have added microtransactions to the game, something I really hated with playing games on my Iphone. Well it's end of Payday 2 I guess.

The later game updates shows poor quality of content. Patch of day 1 CRIMEFEST is a evidence that the developers does not test the game, an example (as previously stated by others) including the minigun bug. Developer is also extremely greedy.

The 1st, they promised us to don't put the micro-transactions in the game. The golden «shame on you if you thought otherwise!».

The 2nd, the system is using the casino-style drop-roulette that means you probably will not get the item that you wanted exactly.

The 3rd, most of items looks like a junk. Give your child a paint spray and a gun and you will get the same result. Moreover, you can scrap your fresh painted gun with a rasp because in the game you will get a random item with the random skin and the random QUALITY. But it's not over yet. If you got a DLC-item, you have to buy this DLC to use this item (remember about €110+).

The 4th. Weapons that you got with micro-transactions is actually stronger than the regular variant. At this point it started to be Pay 2 Win.

The 5th. Skins provide for you and your team XP and MONEY BOOST. More guys with the painted guns you have – stronger boost you get. Just think of it: you can be kicked from the lobby for not buying the random **** for your real money. It actually happened.

We have a good game that ruined buy the lie, greed and sloth.

I have purchased all but the latest DLC, much at full price and including packs of weapons I have never used, in support of the developers and the product that has brought me more hours of enjoyment than any item in my library. I have enthusiastically recommended this game countless times to friends and acquaintances, inspiring more than a few purchases. In my professional career, I have pointed to the lack of microtransaction content as a functional business model that respects its audience while providing a constant stream of new gameplay options.

As of Oct. 15, 2015, I can no longer recommend Payday 2. In the weeks leading up to that date, the developers of the game hosted a series of challenges that, when completed, would unlock new updates that would be free to all owners of the product. On that date, the first of a ten day "Crimefest", the feature revealed to have been unlocked was... microtransactions.

After completing a mission in the game, the player has always been awarded with a virtual card that is flipped over to reveal a new modification for a weapon, a cosmetic mask, and other unlocks. With the new "free" update, this reward can be replaced with a "safe" object. The safe contains a weapon skin of varying rarity as well as the possibility of unique weapon modifications. Very rarely, these weapon skins can add a statistics boost to the weapon when applied. These safes can be opened with a special "drill" object. The catch is the drill can ONLY be obtained by payment of $2.50 (and up) on the Steam Marketplace. There is NO method of opening a safe outside of this financial transaction.

As a long time supporter, this is a betrayal too harsh to bear. The game has been uninstalled and I will not be playing, purchasing, or recommending products by OVERKILL or Starbreeze Studios from this date forward. They have lost this once loyal customer and many others with the addition of this "feature".

    TL;DR - Pay-for product contains microtransactions for potentially non-cosmetic rewards - 0/10

Now this is only one instance to display the disregard for promises and statements made by their own development crew in OFFICIAL statements. Along with the disappearance of a quarter of a million in prizes for last years paydaycon which the community still has no clue where it went. I loved payday and on release despite the heists lacked the same intense driven feel as the original I still loved payday 2 but after a while not only did the quality of updates in general go down but the avalanche of DLC content was carrying the same level of disappointing effort and no real quality to justify their price point. All in all as the game stands and the continued disregard for player input in favor of a more profit driven dlc fest has created a sadly broken game. Expand

On this date though, an update was released that just destroyed one of the things that was so great about it. Payday 2 used to be a game with DLC. No pay to win. It took a while to get to the top and unlock all the weapons and modifications. This was one of those games that made you feel like you had accomplished something. Then 'Crimefest 2015' happened.

With the last update the game was linked to the Steam inventory and now it is possible to buy 'drills' for 'safes' which can drop different 'quality' weapon skins. On october 15 this game went from a great game to what CS:GO is or what Team Fortress 2 has become with the stupid hats. The microtransactions used to unlock these 'unique weapon skins' are a blunt way of squeezing out the last pennies out of a community that was truely loyal to the game and developers. And we hate them for that.

There are many great Steam forum posts describing how the community feels about this. For now, you may notice that the game score on Steam, Metacritic and other sources has taken a free fall. This shows how dedicated the community is to preserving all what made this game fantastic. And it shows how repulsive we find the idea of this great game turning into a marketplace for my little pony weapon skins that add 20 accuracy to your AK-47.

    This is our response.

PayDay 2 is one of the nicest surprises of the year. Overkill Software understands the atmosphere of gangster movies and wisely improves these pieces of gameplay, that might have been disappointing in the first game. The sequel is better in almost every way - you can play a thief and enjoy good character development and shooting systems. I really hope, that PayDay 3 will be even better.
