Jul 12, 2023It's not often a game keeps its claws in after the credits roll, but Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals will stay with me for much longer than just another playthrough.
-
Jul 12, 2023Lost Signals is pretty much more Oxenfree, but better. That might seem disappointing from the sequel to something that promised to revolutionize adventure games, but the refined storytelling, intimate character moments, and creative presentation are, in this case at least, just as good as – if not better than – a brand-new idea.
-
Jul 12, 2023Night School's writing can't be praised enough, because the team is able to be whatever it needs to be in the moment. It can be a supernatural thriller when the time calls for it. It can be a coming-of-age tale when the moment is right. It can go from buddy comedy to buddy drama in an instant. All of it works, and it's a credit to the writers and the voice actors. Oxenfree 2's story will put players through the emotional wringer, but it's a ride that's worth taking.
-
Jul 12, 2023Oxenfree II does everything you would expect from a sequel and even manages to squeeze in a couple of surprises, but don't expect anything revolutionary from it.
-
Jul 12, 2023Oxenfree 2 is a more mature second run at the walk-and-talk formula.
-
Jul 12, 2023Oxenfree 2 is excellent entertainment whose magic lies mainly in its gripping writing, well-constructed characters, and absolutely brilliant sound work, voice acting and music included. If you liked the first part, no doubt you will love its sequel, which retains the same aura overall and only deepens a few aspects of its experience, capable of immersing you in its captivating universe from its first minutes.
-
Jul 12, 2023As a sequel, Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is at least on par with the first title. The game strikes a good balance of platforming and puzzle-solving, while also giving you the freedom to figure out things without much hand-holding. The art style may present small characters, but the graphics still shine, and the music is haunting enough to maintain a feeling of unease throughout the adventure. It is once again the fleshed-out characters, deep narrative, and excellent pacing that will keep you hooked on the game from the opening moments all the way to the end credits. For fans of adventure games, Oxenfree II is a worthy buy, even if you've never played the first title.
-
Jul 12, 2023Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is a well-crafted graphic adventure that we would like to recommend to anyone, especially to those who have had the opportunity to appreciate the first chapter. Trapped in a story with mysterious and paranormal connotations, the protagonists of the game are credible and multifaceted, to the advantage of the effectiveness of the story and the dialogues with the supporting actors. The title does not have the innovative charge of the progenitor and perhaps does not exploit some good ideas as it could have but offers an exciting experience with a well-chosen setting, which you should not miss.
-
Jul 12, 2023Oxenfree II is a wonderful ghost story in more ways than one. The ending depends on the person telling it, it takes place on a dark and stormy night, and there are literal ghosts involved. I, unfortunately, can’t currently compare it to its predecessor, but what I was hoping for out of this one was a spooky-vibes adventure that was a decent mind-screw. I’m happy to say that Lost Signals delivered on that with an extra spoonful of charm on top, and I can’t wait to experience it all again.
-
Jul 12, 2023If you like interactive series and short titles, this is a great opportunity for you: Oxenfree II: Lost Signals, manages to transmit from the first bars, a great sense of depth and building relationships between characters. To highlight its strengths in the theme of decisions and interaction with the NPCs and their impact on the narrative of the game. If you like mystery and love stories with great depth and narrative details, Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is what you are looking for. The analysis was performed on a high-end PC (Nvidia 3060 RTX Ti graphics card), reaching a good and stable frame rate per second and little negative impact on the optimization of the title.
-
Jul 23, 2023This sequel is not a revolution by any means, but it is a fantastic interactive drama where the paranormal is just a channel to talk about emotions.
-
Jul 17, 2023Oxenfree 2 feels like it relies on its dialogue system a bit too much as its more exciting elements take a backseat. While the dialogue is still incredible, the appearance of these more unique sequences left me often asking where I would be able to find more of the unique time-altering puzzles and surreal visuals that also made it stand out over other games. The character writing is still as good as the first game, but it feels like more could have been done to make it stand above the first game.
-
Jul 12, 2023Even though I am satisfied with the way my adventure wrapped up, it’s difficult to resist the urge to jump back in for another round to watch the pieces fall into totally different places.
-
Jul 12, 2023While Oxenfree II: Lost Signals doesn’t hit the same heights as the original game, it still delivers another enjoyable adventure, once again serving up another unique ghost story that uses haunted technology to great effect, which succeeds thanks to terrific dialogue and well-crafted characters. Camena may be quite similar to Edwards Island in a lot of ways, but it still plays hosts to a nicely spooky trip more than worth taking, especially for fans of the first title.
-
Jul 12, 2023There’s a lot to love about Oxenfree II: Lost Signals. Its spooky, supernatural tale will get its hooks in you instantly, helped along by fantastic voice acting and characters that you can’t help but want to know more about. Night School Studios has once again proven itself to be a master of storytelling: it’s been a long wait for Oxenfree’s sequel, but now we’re even more excited to see what the team might do next.
-
Jul 12, 2023Oxenfree II: Lost Signals brings the same level of charm and creepiness as its predecessor, and though its new perspective doesn’t quite push narrative or gameplay elements far enough into the unknown, it’s still an excellent scary story for a dark and stormy night.
-
Jul 12, 2023Oxenfree II feels like Night School returning to its roots in a way, and I think the confidence with which they do so is laudable. There’s enough here that keeps true to its creepy, radio-static origins while expanding out the possibilities. The studio’s style has clearly evolved in the years since, and seeing that come together back in the coastal town of Camena is exciting. It might not be the out-of-left-field surprise it was then, but Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is a solid adventure for those who can’t get enough of strange frequencies and existential dread.
-
Jul 12, 2023Oxenfree 2 casts off adolescence in a bid to explore the trials and tribulations of adulthood, featuring authentic dialogue that packs an emotional punch.
-
Jul 12, 2023It's interesting. By the end of the adventure, Oxenfree 2 has tied up a lot of mysteries. It had for me, anyway, and with a web-like game such as this there's always reason to go back in, make different choices, and see what else is waiting in there to be solved. But there's this other feeling to everything too, just as there was in the first game.
-
Jul 11, 2023Oxenfree II doesn’t shake up what its predecessor did in 2016, but it delivers more of the excellent writing and charm I expect from Night School Studio. While it's light on gameplay beyond traversal, it’s done in service of the characters. After 10 hours with this cast, I want more, but I’m happy with where this story ends and how my choices shaped that ending. Despite bad checkpointing and a swift rush to the end after an overly long setup, this return feels earned and essential, with a message that resonates far more than Oxenfree's. With Oxenfree II behind me, I’m thrilled Night School Studio delivered something special more than seven years away from this world.
-
Jul 11, 2023Oxenfree II may not always be operating at its highest potential, but when it is, there's still nothing quite like it.
-
Jul 11, 2023It's been more than seven years since Oxenfree, and we're relieved this long-awaited sequel hits the mark. Lost Signals seamlessly picks up where the original left off, has an awesome new lead character, and is filled to the brim with quotable dialogue.
-
Jul 12, 2023Quotation forthcoming.
-
Jul 26, 2023The first Oxenfree was hardly a masterpiece, and the continuation in Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals is even further. The plot is interesting and intriguing, especially if you understand all the references to the first part and can connect the events of both games in the series in your head. But an annoying companion and not the most exciting gameplay spoil the impression, overshadowing the amazing acting and great atmosphere. Perhaps it's time for the Night School Studio team to move on and come up with something new - the developers either can't or don't want to implement fresh ideas in this series, and even Oxenfree fans probably won't want to get all the same in the third part.
-
Jul 13, 2023If you loved Oxenfree, you can't not play this Oxenfree II: Lost Signals, especially because it carries on (and ends?) a story that still has several things to say and several mysteries to reveal.
-
Jul 12, 2023Oxenfree 2 may lack the surprises and 'WTF' factor of the original game, but the older protagonists and solid writing make this return to the Pacific Northwest worthwhile.
-
Jul 12, 2023Despite being held back by neglected gameplay elements and an overeager narrative, Oxenfree II: Lost Signals still offers an enjoyable experience.
-
Jul 12, 2023Oxenfree II: Lost Signals spends a little too much time washed out in white noise to truly deliver on its promise but when tuned just right, it sounds like little else. A coming-of-age story for people who should have already come of age is a beautiful and poignant launching pad and despite getting bogged down in hard rules and lore, Night School Studios still display a grasp on horror aesthetics and storytelling worth the price of admission. The signal is a little fuzzy, this is a game still worth listening out for.
-
Jul 12, 2023Like a Netflix show that tries to keep its success with a second season, Oxenfree II is a forced sequel that after seven years loses all the magic. It's still enjoyable, but not fresh at all.
-
Aug 28, 2023Oxenfree II: Lost Signals doesn't innovate much on gameplay and when it tries to, it could've done better. However, the story touches on heavy themes of grief and belonging while giving closure to its predecessor. Offering choices that escape the 'good versus evil' dichotomy, the game is an allegory to accepting what is outside our control.
-
Aug 7, 2023Despite some stumbles, there's still much to recommend playing and finishing Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals. Fans of the first game will get a little more out of it, but new players will catch up easily. Though it wraps up a little too cleanly and some bothersome traversal gets in the way, it tells a well-written, relatable story that's worth experiencing.
-
Aug 4, 2023Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is another spooky island adventure, and while there are aspects to be enjoyed, it ends up feeling a bit too much like its predecessor.
-
Jul 21, 2023It offers more than the original, but it's not better for it.
-
Jul 12, 2023The characters and writing aren’t as strong as they are in the original, but Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals still tells an interesting story that’s punctuated by some truly intense and creepy moments.
-
Jul 12, 2023Like I said, Oxenfree 2 is all about choice, and I’m choosing to replay it as soon as I have the time.
-
Jul 11, 2023Oxenfree II is a strong sequel to the original game. A particular secondary character and antagonist drag the experience down a bit but the overall storyline is a satisfying foray into an adult woman's tenuous grasp on reality and her ultimate decision to cut through the static and strive for something better with the help of the friendships forged whilst speaking over a simple walkie-talkie.
-
Jul 11, 2023Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals offers a highly personal and unpredictable horror-themed adventure that repeats a lot of the first game’s ideas, and it's still worth tuning into.
-
Aug 4, 2023Bigger and better than its predecessor in some ways, more bloated and less focused in others, Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is an intriguing sequel for those on the right wavelength for this kind of gameplay-lite narrative experience.
-
Jul 11, 2023Despite some witty dialogue and a few poignant moments, OXENFREE II: Lost Signals is an unexciting talkie-walkie with conversation interruptions and dull gameplay.
-
Dec 14, 2023Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is an underwhelming attempt to build on the strong foundation of the original with a new story in which teenagers have been replaced by whining millennials.
-
Sep 6, 2023Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is a retro horror adventure game with strong narrative options, but it feels a bit too familiar.
-
Jul 17, 2023Oxenfree II : Lost Signals is a great follow-up to the first episode. The characters are great again and the game seem to still be master at portraying them. However the game lacks ambition and comes out a little bit too late maybe. We would have loved Night School Studio to try something news while still trying to link both games.
-
Jul 13, 2023Suspenseful mystery thriller that's a bit too straightforward and doesn't quite live up to its narrative potential. However, it convinces with its lively dialogue.
-
Jul 12, 2023The first game’s most rewarding ending taught Alex that despite loss and heartache, she needed to move on. Oxenfree II: Lost Signals backpedals on this sentiment and refuses to let go of the past.
-
Edge MagazineJul 13, 2023It's disappointing mostly because its strongest elements, from its dialogue to its excellent soundtrack (see "Radio ga ga"), are packaged within a limp rerun of its superior predecessor, providing scant few reasons to face the ghosts of the past a second time. [Issue#387, p.112]
-
Jul 12, 2023The final act aside, OXENFREE II: Lost Signals is an underwhelming experience, especially when compared to its predecessor.
-
Jul 12, 2023Oxenfree 2 is a disappointing sequel that takes the flawed gem of a first game and rubs out almost everything that made it shine. A reasonable plot and neat audiovisual effects find themselves submerged under ponderous navigation, flat characters, and overly regimented dialogue.

Jul 12, 2023In the end, I loved the idea of Oxenfree 2 more than the game itself. It’s a game that has the right pieces, but falls short of putting them together in a way that lives up to the innovative, classic experience of the original game. A more compelling story is frustratingly hidden within the game’s branching narrative system, and it’s a shame that some people will miss it.
-
Jul 12, 2023Just as Edwards Island looms in the distance behind Camena, the original game looms over its successor. Lost Signals shares a lot of elements with what came before it, and it does those things well (good for a sequel) but it also feels like it doesn’t really expand on those ideas either (not so good for a sequel). If you like playing games for their atmosphere, then Oxenfree 2 will certainly tick a lot of boxes for you, but for fans of the first one looking for more, it's best to keep expectations in check.
