All in all, I rather enjoyed Outcry. I am a fan of these types of titles and Outcry is one of the best adventure titles that I’ve ever played in recent history.
-
It is truly a work of Art which stimulates the senses, evokes your emotions and leaves you thinking. But it has that one fatal flaw which mars the whole experience.
-
Outcry is creepy, stylish, and atmospheric, and contains some interesting gameplay ideas. While getting high marks for an interesting and unusual concept, it falls short in regard to providing guidance for the player and fails to deliver on its lofty premise.
-
PC PowerPlaySome will be fascinated by its near-impenetrable story, but it is incredibly backwards in puzzle design and interface. [Feb 2010, p.61]
-
All in all, with such an intriguing premise and strong production values, the developers had the foundation to make a great game, but the corny plot, pretentious writing, uninteresting characters, and some questionable design issues prevent it from achieving its full potential.
-
All told, Outcry isn't a bad game. It's not one I would recommend for players who aren't already a fan of the genre.
-
The problem with Outcry isn't that it was cheaply made, it's that the developers took what little they had, and made something unappealing and boring out of an interesting concept.
