I don't know. It's the same Ori as before (which is great, loving it!) plus Hollow Knight mechanics. And Hollow Knight mechanics feel quite out of place here, IMO. İlk oyunun iyi yaptığı şeyleri yine iyi yapmış, kötü olanlarıysa değiştirmiş veya iyi hale getirmiş. Combatı daha çeşitli, save sistemi daha makul olmuş. Keşfetmeye değer merak uyandırıcı dünyası aynı şekilde devam ediyor. Skill sistemi yerinde. Taş gibi oyun işte.

Game of The Year 2020 in my opinion!
A poetic game with a tale-like story told with as little cinematics as possible and with tons of juicy and exciting gameplay.
Musically wonderful, this game is the definition of sequel that transcends the previous game: better in every plans it even gracefully complete the whole story.

The most frustrating game I have played in a long time. There are way too many abilities and they are all tied to the same buttons. They tried to make this game feel complex but instead they just made it bloated. I don't understand how this game has so many 10 rankings.

I can't take any more of the frustration. because there has been A LOT of it, so many things, like getting stuck in walls, controls not responding, enemies action totally stupid and throwing themselves into spikes for no reason,
multiple useless systems that add nothing to the core game experience.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a beautiful 2D Metroidvania. A direct sequel to Ori and the Blind Forest, it follows on from the plot of the first game. A direct sequel to Ori and the Blind Forest, it follows on from the plot of the first game. In the introduction to the game, Ori and his little family help to raise Ku the owl. She is an adorable little thing, but has a bum wing and so has a hard time flying. Fortunately, you figure out that you can use one of her mom’s feathers (an item from the first game) on her wing as a sort of prosthesis, and she can fly after a fashion.

Naturally, this cuteness can only last so long, and it isn’t long before Ori and Ku fly into a horrible storm over a nasty, shadowy forest. You get separated from Ku, and it is up to Ori to venture into this scary new world to rescue his friend/daughter.

Visually, this game is pretty spectacular; it makes excellent use of light and dark, the enemies are menacing but have a certain glowy aesthetic appeal to them, while the various allied creatures are cute or cool looking. Everything in this game looks really good.

On top of that, the game works quite well at pulling at your heartstrings. Not only are characters emotive, with Ori holding and hugging Ku, and sometimes getting hugs back, but the world has problems and the game does a good job of making you want to protect the people in it from them. The darkness is forboding, and bad things are happening to good people who are helping you out – or just trying to survive.

As such, the game does a really good job of making you feel bad for the characters, and while it doesn’t always hit, it generally does, even if it ends up making the game a bit predictable at times. Still, these developments work well, and we do feel bad for various characters – even the villains at times, as we understand the origin of their dark feelings.

If I had a quibble with the aesthetic half of the game, it is that the narrator is a bit of a weak point. The game probably would have been more powerful if it hadn’t had one, and while there IS a plot-related reason for their existence, I’m not sure that the payoff from it was ultimately worth the exposition.

The gameplay, too, is really good. Ori’s movements are really fluid, and his command set is quite solid – you eventually gain the ability to double and triple jump, air dash, “bash” (launching yourself off of enemies or projectiles in mid-air, which will also send the enemy/projectile flying in the opposite direction, making it useful both offensively and for mobility), float (which isn’t actually that useful by the time you get it, but still appreciated), climb up walls and walljump, and generally get all the abilities you’d expect to. But what makes the game work well is that Ori’s movements are really smooth, and it feels good to control him – Ori is highly responsive to your commands, and easy to control and get to do what you want him to do.

There are a number of interesting environments to go through, with a variety of mechanics; these include not only interesting platforming puzzles, but things like darkness that closes in around you and which requires you to dash from light to light, or icy areas that you need to thaw out by manipulating projectiles and getting them to the right location.

There are even some very interesting timed segments, where you are trying to escape from some big horrible monster, or a catastrophe like an avalanche or flood, and have to keep moving as the environment disintegrates around you. These are really cool, and end up taking up the space of most of the boss fights in the game – they actively test your platforming skills, and are long enough to be exciting and present at least some challenge while short enough not to be obnoxiously long. This extends to some “spirit races” as well, where you race a ghostly spirit to some destination for a reward.

Ori also does something else important – it actually has good pacing. Many Metroidvanias are a bit lame at the start of the game, but Ori manages to engage the audience with an unfamiliar landscape, excellent visuals while carrying around only a torch as a weapon, and getting the player some extra movement abilities early enough to avoid feeling stale.

The game’s only real weakness is the combat, but it is a rather significant one. Ori’s own abilities are actually pretty cool – he has quite a variety of combat powers, and there’s even a “shard system” that allows you to modify them. The problem is, the game fails to make interesting use of them. Almost every enemy can be beaten with your basic attack, the few who can’t can be beaten with a hammer smash ability you buy, and… that’s about it. It doesn't help that the game is sparse on bosses as well, and the few that exist are pretty simple.

Overall, Ori 2 is a very good game, and one well worth playing if you like Metroidvanias or enjoy the aesthetics of the promo videos.

After finishing this game I went and opened up Celeste, Hollow Knight, and Dead Cells and while I liked each of those games, I couldn't even play them, I'll have to wait because of how great Ori and the Will of the Wisps was. On to non-metroidvania style games for a while thanks to this banger.

The one downside, when I first started Ori, I had some frame skips and freezing (day one). Luckily I saw a comment saying to hard restart xbox if you were having that problem and that fixed it!

Although lacking in originality, the game play and combat is fun and engaging. The various skills and abilities you have are all very impactful to the way you play and are all very fun to use. Platforming in particular is definitely one of the game's highlights. It is both challenging but really fun at the same time because of the amount of available skills that you have to traverse certain locations an how you balance those skills to get where you need to go. Boss battles as well are great. The different bosses have very good and interesting mechanics and the cinematic nature of the fights were a sight to behold as well. The overall art style of the game is beautiful. Each area you visit looks and feels very distinct from the other areas while still being coherent to the art direction of the game. What really bogged down my experience was the myriad of technical issues in the game which were bad enough to ruin some of the moments of my entire playthrough. That being said, all of its elements blend together successfully to create a remarkable experience that is definitely worth playing. 9/10. Expand

There are a lot of secret areas to find and progression is faster now, with the map feeling more condensed. The atmosphere feels more welcoming and entices you to explore. If you haven't played the prequel, you won't really know what's going on in this game, but it won't affect your gameplay.

Overall, the game isn't that long, and if you played the prequel and are used to the motions already, it's not hard to speed through. The automatic checkpoints alleviate the frustration of manual checkpoints the prequel had, although it does make the game easier.

The map isn't as complex as before and many elements were recycled, but the story was more meaningful and the boss battles were satisfying (albeit potentially difficult for casual players). The conclusion was incredibly emotional and bumped my score from an 8.5 to a 9.

If you want to save time, don't bother repairing the thorns or cave until endgame, since you can't do anything until that point anyway. Also, go to the desert area as soon as the game branches off to fetch the upgrade there, and then return and explore the other regions before continuing on with the desert. The upgrade will enable you to explore a lot more of the game without having to backtrack later on.

One thing that bothered me about this game is that it stutters a lot (at least, on the Xbox Game Pass version). This is probably an initial release optimization issue, which will likely be ironed out as time goes on. It is still fully playable and won't affect your gameplay, but it does make cutscenes look weird.

The visuals, music, gameplay, and story are all so intricately fine-tuned. The visuals are gorgeous and vibrant, and the music is just as incredible as ever. The platforming feels fluid and will feel like second nature not long into it; it’s just that good. This time, combat is more fleshed out and feels very reminiscent of Hollow Knight. Although the bread and butter is the platforming aspect, the combat is still very fun and well incorporated. The story is, once again, very emotional and is told more through music, sounds, and visuals rather than through actual dialogue or text. Bosses will lend to some very intense fights because they’re not a static rinse and repeat battle and is very dynamic and will change; it’s just awesome.

I honestly can’t find anything wrong with the game. If I had any critiques with the actual design, then they’re not worth mentioning. I will say I ran into just a few small visual bugs, but that’s pretty much it. The developers really did an awesome job to make a polished product that I can’t really criticize.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a product of passion and devotion. When we’re in this position when we really can’t trust AAA developers and their products anymore, this is the reason why you can look to Indie developers like Moon Studios for pure, wholesome, and unadulterated games. To me, this game is a masterpiece. For any fan of Metroidvanias, platformers, or just great games, this is a must buy.

Now Ori and the Will of the Wisp is EASILY the most fluid and visually impressive game I have ever played on PC. It's an absolute masterpiece and I feel bad for not experiencing it properly right from the start.

Despite that, I didn't find it quite as "pure" an experience as the first game, I think partly due to the significantly increased number of various mechanics, which meant I constantly had to think about say what skills to use, instead of just feeling it. Still, a gorgeous platformer and a worthy continuation of the Blind Forest. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Graphics-10/10
As a platformer there isn't that much in the realm of graphics and unfortunately I don't play many platformers. But from the few that have Ori WoTW is probably one of the best I've seen.

    Art-10/10
The art style is just as good as the first Ori and fits perfectly. Each area had its own unique characteristics. Artistically it didn't feel like any area was reusing anything from another and the transitions from area to area felt and looked smooth. It didn't feel like there were any abrupt changes in the atmosphere. The creatures you meet along the way are also interesting in design and really add to the character of each area.

    Story-8/10
The story of Ori WoTW is excellent but as the game wrapped up I realized that it felt like some of the story points from the first Ori were being reused. WoTW has Ori as the savior of course but it reuses the idea of a tragic background to elicit sympathy towards the antagonist. The game is also quite depressing on a number of accounts which is a bit different from the generally happy setting of the first Ori.

    Charc. Dev.-7.5/10
Unfortunately there's not much out of charc. dev. since there isn't much time to develop anything. Ori is still the savior, having the courage to stand against a foe, compassion to help, and the sympathy to understand things from his opponent's point of view. Not much changed in that aspect from the first game to WoTW. I was surprised to see that the side characters had as much of a personality as they did. The Moki proved to be an enjoyable presence and the other NPCs really helped to create the feeling of a family that Ori was building. The antagonist also had a background that, while short, explained quite a bit and makes you step back and think about the justifications in some people's actions.

    Ending-8/10
Part of the ending felt reused from the first Ori where you're supposed to feel bad for the antagonist in some ways. It's not necessarily a ding off the points since it felt like it was implemented nicely but I would have like to see something substantially different. I found the last boss fight to be really cool, where you have to constantly move, but I kinda cheesed Shriek using the rapid-fire, multi-shot bow. There was a plot twist at the very end which was a nice and welcome surprise that wraps everything up perfectly with no need for another game in the series.

    Difficulty-8/10
The overall difficulty of the main story wasn't bad. But I say they should have nerfed the bow b/c if you had the mana you could destroy anything in seconds. Most of the side quests, achievements, and puzzles were very entertaining and gave a sense of accomplishment for completing them. Especially the missions that have Ori building a refuge for all of the creatures. I didn't think any of the missions were exceedingly hard, a few of them had you running around which was kind of annoying. There are a few ppl that say some areas were impossible and that ruined the game for them, they didn't even finish the b/c it was too hard. To them I say, you're just not persistent enough. I suck at most games, I've only ever played like 3 or 4 platformers and I got like 98% completion on Ori WoTW in about 15 hours. I played the Dark Souls series and some bosses would take me well over 25 attempts. With WoTW I found the challenge races to be the most frustrating part but even then the most attempts I took to complete them were around 7 or 8 tries.

    Soundtrack-10/10
What else can I say except that it was phenomenal. For such a short game the soundtrack is huge and every piece reinforces the uniqueness of everything you come across. Emotional scenes were enhanced by many of the powerful pieces of the musical score. I especially enjoyed that they used a variation of the first Ori theme.

    Background noise-10/10
The background noises like ambient sounds of water or the sound effects of Ori's attacks were done quite well. I have no complaints. The abilities that Ori uses sound powerful when you expect them to and graceful when they're supposed to. Everything has a sound when interacting with it as well. When walking across a wooden bridge you can hear it creak. Water, sand, and solid ground have their own unique terrain sound effects as you move over them.

    Price-8/10
$30 for the base game I think is reasonably priced but I still hesitated. I would have bought it in an instant if it were just $5 cheaper but obviously I understand that any game worth playing can't be dirt cheap. Usually I say a game is worth its price when hours played = cost but WoTW made up for it in the other categories.

    Overall gameplay-9/10
I enjoyed the vast majority of the game. IMO the ending could have been improved by doing something different from the first Ori and I would have like to see a more happy setting. I usually play more casual games to relax and chill, not to be immersed in deep thought and feels but WoTW was enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it.

Ori and the will of the wisps is a beautiful game that does everything right. The only exception to this is, does it really stand out from the first. Still an excellent platformer with elements of metroidvania and a beautiful, albeit simple, story. This time, the developers decided to experiment with the action genre and added full-fledged bosses, a dozen mini-arenas, races with your shadow and simple melee combat, by itself. For the first hour of a regular game-play, it constantly seemed to me that the game was uncomfortable, the character moves/jumps amorphously, but then I got used to it and, quite normally, passed the most difficult places of the game, and traveling through locations was fast due to a "local parkour" without errors and damage.
There are small complaints about the game, like self-repetitions, in a couple of places, but these are all trifles and nit-picking. Like I said - it's still a gaming masterpiece... which, in the second part, put an end to the history of our character Ori.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all I had too many game breaking bugs where I had to restart the game. This didn't gave me the pleasure I had hoped for.

But when the game was running it was the same old butter smooth game play I experienced from the blind forest. Personally I didn't like the big boss battles that much, because sometimes I feel like I cheesed the fight a little. If the boss abilities could be a little bit more telegraphed I would have enjoyed that better, I think.

What i loved the most where the side missions. They have lots of personality and are a good way for world building. And the best side quest is the one where you help build a home for all the woodland creatures.

The story is a bit simple, but that doesn't make it bad. Better to have a simple story that is told beautifully than a complex story that is told badly.

And the last point of this review. The music and art. I have nothing other to says then 12 out of 10. They just did it again. Out of this world.

All in all its a great game and I enjoyed the time with it. I am sure that the dev's are fixing the bugs right now. When those game breaking bugs are fixed I would give it a 9. But right now that's not the case.

It’s a shining example of how to do a sequel. They kept the core of what made the original enjoyable while switching up just about everything they could. There are some elements I feel it did better, some where I feel the original did better with, but on the whole they feel like they’re on equal footing. If you want a game that’s more of an experience than simply something to kill time, if you want something that showcases how artistic games can be, if you want an action platformer with plenty of approaches to combat, I can’t recommend enough that you pick up Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Also Ori and the Blind Forest if you haven’t played it already.
