Played 13% of the game and then it became frustrating to find where to go next. You end up searching the same places over and over again.

it pains me....but I do not like it. And I can say this because I really, really tried (8 hours of gameplay as of this review)

I didn't even finish the game, because I'm tired of moving along in a big big map and searching for what to do next. And that's what game exactly want you to do. It simply tells you to go from a corner of map to another again, again and AGAIN!
This stupid mechanism prevented me from experiencing game's great story. That's why I'm giving a 4.
Great design and music by the way!

I didn't finish the game. Thanks to your sandworm section. The garbage underdeveloped gimmick, an obstacle course build around it with high precision requirement, no checkpoints and tight timings.
No thanks. I've spent literally 3 hours trying to beat this section and I'm done.

I enjoyed the game so far until that point. Now, ANY enjoyment that I had with the game is completely drowned in bad experience that I'm having now.
I'm not even gonna bother trying any more and completing the game. And I'm not going to go and buy any of the future installements, knowing how bad of a time I had now.
It's been literally half an hour since I turned the game off after my third attempt, and I still have my fingers shaking in sheer frustration.

You took my enjoyment and the good time I've ben having and just sunk it into the toilet. You've lost a customer in me.

Honestly, I don't know if and how this segment was playtested. But whoever designed it - ruined my experience over an entire game.
I've played many hard games. Souls games, slashers. I played them on highest difficulty and I like going for platinum and all achievements. I'm not a casual gamer! However even if I was, it wouldn't have mattered. No gamer deserves a segment that makes you uninstall out of frustration and realization that you have better and more enjoyable things in your life than fighting the game controls and going through the same obstacle course a hundred of times over and over, failing each time after over a minute into it.

No. I'm just done. 0/10. A game that can't be finished because of a single underdeveloped mechanic and a single segment built around it - does not deserve praise from me.
This was a beautifully made game that decided that it can put an insane difficulty spike near the end, and that it can afford wasting my time and then losing me as a player forever.

Good job, developers. You **** it up.

I genuinely wanted to love and enjoy this game, but there's nothing enjoyable about it. I highly recommend against it as half the abilities don't work 95% of the time. Half the controls don't even work for most of the game, I was fighting a boss and it comes to a point where all you can do is melee him, yet the melee doesn't work on him? I'm standing a foot away, swinging a giant hammer, and... nothing, but if I move an inch forward, I take damage.

Honestly, there's nothing enjoyable about this game, they downgraded Ori 1 and ruined it with a very poorly executed plot twist at the end that is only there for the sake of making you feel bad... which is again, 95% of the game. It's depressing, down on itself, and doesn't even attempt to be fun. They kill characters that you can't even hope to care for because they do it almost off the bat before any character-building whatsoever. I'm happy I have the Xbox Game Pass because if I spent $30 on a game that doesn't slightly work, I'd be pissed. Stay away from Ori & The Will of The Wisps, it's not as fun or charming as people paint it out to be, the storytelling is next to nonexistent, and it just tries to make you feel **** or depressed in literally every area of the game with little to no satisfaction once you clear an area.

I can't take any more of the frustration. because there has been A LOT of it, so many things, like getting stuck in walls, controls not responding, enemies action totally stupid and throwing themselves into spikes for no reason,
multiple useless systems that add nothing to the core game experience.

The sound is totally forgettable, the story was, we got blown away and separated, the graphics were clumsy. You couldn't see things you needed to see, quite often in fact. It just has no charm. If someone put a beef steak and a beef flavour crisp in front of you, you'd pck the steak everytime. Well my games collection has plenty of steak in it and doesn't need this snack.

Ori is a 2.5D platformer with painted environments, it shouldn't be taxing for performance at all. The gameplay has potential but it currently isn't much fun to play in slow-motion every 15 seconds.

Should we wait a few months for the inevitable 'Definitive Edition' rerelease, like the first game when it became unfixable?

The story is good and there is potential for fun but it's currently very broken. Wait for patches / rerelease in a few months.

Fantastic game for the first 13 hours, or so i thought. The game is stunning, awesome music, fluid movement and decent fighting. It is pretty fun to collect new abilities and other collectibles, you feel the character getting stronger. The difficulty is adjustable and it would fit most people.

Fantastic game for the first 13 hours, or so i thought. The game is stunning, awesome music, fluid movement and decent fighting. It is pretty fun to collect new abilities and other collectibles, you feel the character getting stronger. The difficulty is adjustable and it would fit most people.

The one negative is that the game is broken. I've collected almost everything i can, and i've done every single quest i can. The problem is, some of the quests are broken. The icons stay on the map, and i don't get the reward.

What broke the game was sequence breaking by mistake. I did not get the quest to kill the boss before i killed it, this led to me not gaining one out of 4 pieces for the main quest. I noticed this 10 hours afterwards. So i've collected everything else, and the last piece that's missing is the one from the Luma pools boss.

The last hour i run around looking for it, searched it up on forums and found out the savefile is broken at this point.

You need to do the game in a certain order, which is unknown until you actually get the quests u get later on. The path to this area where i found the boss isn't supposed to be accessed until you gain a new ability which you get after the quest telling you to fight the boss. You can still easily access this are without the new ability to help you. There is no warning or barriers at all.

The game felt open and wanted to test your platforming ability, or so i thought, but no... You get severely punished for acually exploring the open world they poorly designed.

If you were to not try to explore the whole map and utilise your movement to the maximum and enter areas you shouldn't, the game would be great.

I feel like the game wasn't tested well enough, for many savefiles just seemed to break and dissapear, many got softlocked like me. I also experienced other bugs where the screen went all dark, and i had to reset the game. I belive this was due to another sequence break i did not intend to do.

Thankfully i did not buy this game, I read reviews and posts about how it broke for them, this is why i downloaded it in another way since i'm tired of games breaking when i'm far into them and i would have to restart or go back many hours and it isn't always possible to get a refund. This is why i downlaod these games without paying for them and use it as a demo and if the game was good, i support the developers afterwards. I never really cared for achievments or that stuff anyways. And the amount of times games have broken on me is insane and the amount of money i wasted on them are as well.

I would buy this game on steam afterwards, now i certenly won't. I wasted 14 hours on this broken game, atleast i did not waste my money. Maybe they fixed this in some patch afterwards. But having a broken game out for atleast 2 weeks is not acceptable.

There are backup savefiles, but i did not know the savefile was broken until 13 hours in, so it is almost a full reset. Nor could i find any savefile online.

This is the kind of **** that makes me lose faith in game developers, and why i must use shady sites just to not get scammed out of my money. Small or big developers does not matter to me, if they did a good game that doesn't break, i support them by buying the game.

Bad story with outdated duality of light vs darkness.

I also hate scripted chase events, having to die and memorize stuff IS NOT a fun mechanic in any game, if they want to do that kind of stuff at least make it fair

Sometimes the path will be open when you run from a boss but don't count on it one run everything will be fine the next run oops all the paths are closed restart the challenge. Confusing as hell. This is the first game where I have to google how to pass the first boss fight (Howl). It's a sign that this game will only confuse me even more. So sod off. Emo and gay kids, this game will be right up your alley.

It’s a shining example of how to do a sequel. They kept the core of what made the original enjoyable while switching up just about everything they could. There are some elements I feel it did better, some where I feel the original did better with, but on the whole they feel like they’re on equal footing. If you want a game that’s more of an experience than simply something to kill time, if you want something that showcases how artistic games can be, if you want an action platformer with plenty of approaches to combat, I can’t recommend enough that you pick up Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Also Ori and the Blind Forest if you haven’t played it already.

Its moments of brilliance are worth experiencing, but they shouldn't blind anyone to the shortcomings of a sequel that, underneath that beautiful surface, is as frustratingly flawed as the first. [Issue#346, p.98]
