Ori and the Will of the Wisps is amazing! The visuals, music and game mechanics are all incredible. You can tell this game was a complete labor of love by Moon Studios! I really enjoy the melee changes that were made as Ori feels like a right badass now :)

At $30 price point you are getting an amazingly engaging and innovative game with AAA polish. How could you go wrong with that?

And it feels great having mastered all of them and truly feel like you own the magical forest as you swiftly glide across the screen avoiding obstacles and dashing enemies. However, the reason I can't give it a very high score is that some escape sequences are not balanced.

Specifically I've stopped playing at the escape from the sand worm in Windtorn Ruins and I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to the game. And although Ori is notorious for its escape sequences I think there's a point where it stops being hard and becomes annoying. I have successfully finished the first instalment in the series "Ori and the Blind Forest" which already had some tough sequences like the escape from the Ginso Tree. And I was happy with other sequences in "The Will of the Wisps", so I know I can master them relatively quickly and enjoy the reward of finally beating them.

The issue I'd like to raise here with the development team is one of balance and enjoyment. In my opinion certain sequences are just out of balance with the rest of the difficulty of the game. If you start the game at normal difficulaty and you finish 70% without a problem and suddenly you're stuck is that really just an indication of an unexperienced player? Had the game indicated that this difficulty is not for my non-professional-gamer leasure experience earlier on, maybe I would have started with "easy" - although I doubt if that would've let me avoid these sequences.

I've also seen countless other people drop the game at this point (look for threads on Reddit or comments on YouTube). As someone pointed out these sequences are not as much about your skill and decision making as they are about your muscle memory after 100th attempt. I'm also curious what the effect of using different controllers (Xbox vs PC) has and how much testing was done on each of them.

Would only recommend to people who really know what they're getting themselves into and who are sure they will enjoy repeating the same on minute sequence over and over for hours so they can pat their muscle memory on the shoulder.

10/10, Ori and the Will of the Wisps к прохождению обязательна.

I'm happy to have played it, but I'm just not sure whether it is the sequel I anticipated.
As of 13.03.20, the game suffers a great number of glitches. Ori gets stuck in a number of places, gets teleported, the game freezes and on rare occasions hangs your PC dead. Most problems are tackled by loading a save or mashing buttons randomly. Also, the game may be working not quite right on Full HD displays as it is meant for Ultra HD, sometimes aliasing or shimmering may be seen.
Ultimately, the thing I missed most while playing was the melancholic, lonely atmosphere. Reasons why I think it changed:
    - The locations. They have changed from a cozy, admirable magical forest into uncomfortable-to-horrifying environments, where you don't feel safe except for special safe zones and want to run faster. Also, although the map got bigger, it doesn't give you a lot of chance or wish to run through the same places many times to get used to them. The locations are always full of scary looking spikes and
    - Enemies, which are now often nightmare monsters instead of nice or funny-ish looking creatures.
    - Ori is now nearly a Rambo who is ready to fight anything nearly with his bare hands from the beginning.
    - The game design got more generic, with buying skills and weapons, autosave, a "motherbase"-thing, a lot of NPCs to talk to, bosses and things like that. Also, it gets repetitative and predictible, as all sections of the plot have similar structure.
Storywise the game has not really matched the Blind Forest. The majority of the plot is farfetched and not closely as emotional, except for the ending which, although is not logically connected with the rest of the plot enough, left me completely devastated.
A good thing is that the story is much richer, there are events happening and quests changing all the time compared to BF.
Gameplaywise it's more sophisticated in a good way, ever-changing and never bores you, but a lot of tools are used only in special sections and/or are replaced with other ones later on. Also, if you've played through BF a couple times, this one will not be as challenging, but rather like another walkthrough of BF, but on a different map.

Seriously, because the emotional moments come when you least expect it, its delivery is more powerful than the first game. So story-wise, this game is better.

The graphics and colors are here to blow your brains out. IT IS BEAUTIFUL. From the simple animation of the grass, to the heavy explosion of blue lights of your abilities, everything is a total eyecandy. Even the creepy areas look majestic.

The sound and music compliments the beautiful look of the game; they are just pure eargasm. I honestly was worried that the music won't be as amazing compared to the first game, but Moon Studios absolutely blew it out of the water; You can listen to the songs for hours and not get emotionally moved.

Gameplay is amazing. For a game that looks so kids-friendly, the game can actually get really hard, just the way I like it. It requires you to have precious timing and aim of your movements on certain situations or else you end up dying. It's not impossible, but challenging enough to test your reflexes

Potkáváme zde různá stvořeni a svět díky tomu působí plně a živě.

An absolut masterpiece! In every aspect topping the first amazing game. One of the best soundtracks ever created for a video game, stunningly beautiful art combined with amazing jump and run gameplay. My honest respect for every one who was part of the development team !

One of the best games I've ever played in 35 years of gaming. The difficulty level is high but the reward is also high. I didn't experience many technical issues, I think the game froze on me twice. But well worth any issues for the wonderful visual style, the gameplay, the puzzles, everything is so well thought out. Highly recommended.

This is a must play game for any platformer fan. Beautiful art design, beautiful soundtrack, simply the whole game is just beautiful, a true masterpiece. Expands on everything possible from the prequel, I did not encounter anything to what I would say "This does not fit here", definitely GOTY contestor.

There is greater diversity of biomes, environments, enemies and ofc greater variety of mechanics to play with. From presentation perspective - this is absolute piece of art - both visuals and OST are simply striking.

It's hard to tell much more without spoiling things - so I will leave at that. The game is ESSENTIAL MUST PLAY and is likely making my TOP 5 of all time.

I will be honest here - I expected a great game, but didn't expect it to surpass all, already high, expectations by that much.

After the breathtaking adventure we had for the first time in the blind forest, moon studios prepare us for yet another amazing journey, or is it? The will of the wisps is a game that made me feel a lot of conflicts after I finished it. Even tho it has stunning visual, amazing story and storytelling, very decent and well-developed characters and a story that binds to the ambiance of the world are some of the many advantages this game has. The problem is that many times gamers tend to look at a game only a storytelling way ( which if this was the case this would take a solid 9+ ). But sadly I felt it's gameplay a bit disappointing. There were way too many similarities for example with Hollow Knight as they had adopted the trinkets system as well as the sword skills etc. This though is a very small issue that many might not even consider, what made me dislike a part of the game is repetitiveness in compare to the previous one ( blind forest ), as it is like we are visiting the same locations or the story is kinda the same ( without being though ) and in general, I felt that moon studios wanted to create something new but without venturing away from the safety of the Blind Forest. The game lacked some very major gameplay characteristics like simplicity, clarity, and bug-free.

The game provides you with so much content that it is never properly explained how it can be used ( which in some cases it is good cause it allows you to explore it) in some others, it is just too much. I felt that there were way too many skills and weapons for you to wield even though there was a clear overpowered set where you could overpower most of the enemies in the game with ease. I truly used 1/4 of my entire arsenal in the throughout my entire gameplay. And so I think it lacks simplicity.

Over that there were situations where fighting a boss was not hard only because the mechanics of the boss were hard, but because the environment around me did not help my eyes and my senses to follow ori. There were situations that I was taking damage and because of the many particles and many flashing lights on the screen I did not see that one of my dashes did not take action, I took some damage and did not know where ori is. This was happening occasionally and it is the first time I experience it so much in a game and I thought it would be right to be addressed.

Lastly and sadly the game had a lot of minor and major bugs. Most of the were minor with little effect on the game itself and still, it was not appropriate to be playing a game of such range and still drowning in pools of mud without touching them, teleporting at death or having yourself trapped in a corner and eventually dying.

My final verdict is that ori and the will of the wisps is still an incredible and amazing game. From visuals to storytelling it is a creation of masterpiece, but I believe that moon studios did not "invest" in the implementation of the game as much as they did on the storytelling of its adventure.

Thankfully it's nowhere near as bad as Hollow Knight, but it's certainly a lot worse than the first Ori. I enjoyed playing the first Ori multiple times, but this is not a game I'll be playing again.

There are way more abilities than the previous Ori. The upgrade and ability system is very similar to HK.

In Hollow Knight the maps are 100% necessary. In Ori they're 100% preference since the map reveals itself as you explore anyway. So they don't make you run around a dark maze the whole game like HK does.

Some nice changes to the environment. It's more "alive" in both visuals and audibles.

I'm disappointed at the first "boss fight" with the massive wolf. It seems to be going in the direction of "really hard = fun", and generally doesn't make sense. What you're supposed to do is very unintuitive. I had to look up a playthrough on youtube only to see that someone very good at the game barely survives as well, and that the fight indeed makes little sense.

There are lots of little things that make it a lot worse than the first game. Eg:
    * At one point there is no way to continue, but unbeknownst to you you have to step far enough in one direction to trigger a cut scene that will allow you to continue. I didn't step far enough the first time and ended up going back for 30 minutes through the previous parts of the map trying to figure out where to go.
    * Having to do mundane/tedious things over and over because... I don't know why. Did they simply do a bad job in the beta/playthrough testing, or did they actually want mundane parts of the game to be demanding such precision?
    * The hook doesn't work many times when it seems like it should. A similar issue with jumping - I have triple jump but when dashing out of water during a race I only have 1 jump.
    * I experienced something similar with bash. I knew how it works from the previous game, but when I got the "shoot the fireball then bash to reach higher" part it wasn't working and I had to look at a playthrough to determine that I just needed to keep trying till it finally worked right. And I'm regularly experiencing problems with bash not working properly.
    * Then in another part of the game you get these explosive things to follow you, and you've done it a dozen times already so you know how it works, but then this one just isn't working. I look up a playthrough and see the person doing the same thing as me, but it works for them.
    * There's a bug with achievements not unlocking. Restarting the game resolved it for me.

And almost all of this stuff I see people complaining about the exact same bugs a year ago and they're still not patched.

You essentially have one button for 3 different abilities - glide, hook, bash - and that really messes you up during movement and combat. Also, even the way the abilities are implemented seems poor. Eg: you hook to enemies, which is great, but then for some reason you immediately get pushed away from them, making it totally useless.
Then later in the game you get another ability very similar to hook, but only works for sand, and is bound to another key...

Many of the chase scenes seem poorly designed. Have to watch someone else do it to find out why I was dying and what route they wanted me to take. And I see them having the exact same frustrating issues/confusion.

In the second half of the game there are too many spots where you have to go look up on youtube where they want you to go. And too many parts that are unnecessarily tedious and thus zap the enjoyment out of the game.

They didn't improve/fix one annoying issue with the previous game where the map shows 98 or 99% complete but there are no obvious places you missed. After running around a bunch I figured out that the things you buy to reveal all the items on the map don't even work properly/fully.

The longest side quest in the game (that reveals all hidden items) is completely miss-able. I didn't find out about it till the end of the game when I looked something up online.

I didn't even finish the game, because I'm tired of moving along in a big big map and searching for what to do next. And that's what game exactly want you to do. It simply tells you to go from a corner of map to another again, again and AGAIN!
This stupid mechanism prevented me from experiencing game's great story. That's why I'm giving a 4.

I enjoyed the game so far until that point. Now, ANY enjoyment that I had with the game is completely drowned in bad experience that I'm having now.
I'm not even gonna bother trying any more and completing the game. And I'm not going to go and buy any of the future installements, knowing how bad of a time I had now.
It's been literally half an hour since I turned the game off after my third attempt, and I still have my fingers shaking in sheer frustration.

You took my enjoyment and the good time I've ben having and just sunk it into the toilet. You've lost a customer in me.

Honestly, I don't know if and how this segment was playtested. But whoever designed it - ruined my experience over an entire game.
I've played many hard games. Souls games, slashers. I played them on highest difficulty and I like going for platinum and all achievements. I'm not a casual gamer! However even if I was, it wouldn't have mattered. No gamer deserves a segment that makes you uninstall out of frustration and realization that you have better and more enjoyable things in your life than fighting the game controls and going through the same obstacle course a hundred of times over and over, failing each time after over a minute into it.

No. I'm just done. 0/10. A game that can't be finished because of a single underdeveloped mechanic and a single segment built around it - does not deserve praise from me.
This was a beautifully made game that decided that it can put an insane difficulty spike near the end, and that it can afford wasting my time and then losing me as a player forever.

Good job, developers. You **** it up.

Half the controls don't even work for most of the game, I was fighting a boss and it comes to a point where all you can do is melee him, yet the melee doesn't work on him? I'm standing a foot away, swinging a giant hammer, and... nothing, but if I move an inch forward, I take damage.

Honestly, there's nothing enjoyable about this game, they downgraded Ori 1 and ruined it with a very poorly executed plot twist at the end that is only there for the sake of making you feel bad... which is again, 95% of the game. It's depressing, down on itself, and doesn't even attempt to be fun. They kill characters that you can't even hope to care for because they do it almost off the bat before any character-building whatsoever. I'm happy I have the Xbox Game Pass because if I spent $30 on a game that doesn't slightly work, I'd be pissed. Stay away from Ori & The Will of The Wisps, it's not as fun or charming as people paint it out to be, the storytelling is next to nonexistent, and it just tries to make you feel **** or depressed in literally every area of the game with little to no satisfaction once you clear an area.

Ori is a 2.5D platformer with painted environments, it shouldn't be taxing for performance at all. The gameplay has potential but it currently isn't much fun to play in slow-motion every 15 seconds.

Should we wait a few months for the inevitable 'Definitive Edition' rerelease, like the first game when it became unfixable?

Fantastic game for the first 13 hours, or so i thought. The game is stunning, awesome music, fluid movement and decent fighting. It is pretty fun to collect new abilities and other collectibles, you feel the character getting stronger. The difficulty is adjustable and it would fit most people.

The one negative is that the game is broken. I've collected almost everything i can, and i've done every single quest i can. The problem is, some of the quests are broken. The icons stay on the map, and i don't get the reward.

What broke the game was sequence breaking by mistake. I did not get the quest to kill the boss before i killed it, this led to me not gaining one out of 4 pieces for the main quest. I noticed this 10 hours afterwards. So i've collected everything else, and the last piece that's missing is the one from the Luma pools boss.

The last hour i run around looking for it, searched it up on forums and found out the savefile is broken at this point.

You need to do the game in a certain order, which is unknown until you actually get the quests u get later on. The path to this area where i found the boss isn't supposed to be accessed until you gain a new ability which you get after the quest telling you to fight the boss. You can still easily access this are without the new ability to help you. There is no warning or barriers at all.

The game felt open and wanted to test your platforming ability, or so i thought, but no... You get severely punished for acually exploring the open world they poorly designed.

If you were to not try to explore the whole map and utilise your movement to the maximum and enter areas you shouldn't, the game would be great.

I feel like the game wasn't tested well enough, for many savefiles just seemed to break and dissapear, many got softlocked like me. I also experienced other bugs where the screen went all dark, and i had to reset the game. I belive this was due to another sequence break i did not intend to do.

Thankfully i did not buy this game, I read reviews and posts about how it broke for them, this is why i downloaded it in another way since i'm tired of games breaking when i'm far into them and i would have to restart or go back many hours and it isn't always possible to get a refund. This is why i downlaod these games without paying for them and use it as a demo and if the game was good, i support the developers afterwards. I never really cared for achievments or that stuff anyways. And the amount of times games have broken on me is insane and the amount of money i wasted on them are as well.

I would buy this game on steam afterwards, now i certenly won't. I wasted 14 hours on this broken game, atleast i did not waste my money. Maybe they fixed this in some patch afterwards. But having a broken game out for atleast 2 weeks is not acceptable.

There are backup savefiles, but i did not know the savefile was broken until 13 hours in, so it is almost a full reset. Nor could i find any savefile online.

This is the kind of **** that makes me lose faith in game developers, and why i must use shady sites just to not get scammed out of my money. Small or big developers does not matter to me, if they did a good game that doesn't break, i support them by buying the game.

It's not a game where you just go from start to finish without any challange. I completed it on normal after around 13 hours, still a lot to do if I want to go back and finish everything! The best game so far in 2020, easily.

Absolutely a masterpiece. As perfect as the first game, and one of the best modern platformers with superb story and A class gameplay. Definitely ten of ten.

The boss fights and chase sequences bring nothing in the way of clever level design and puzzle solving.

There is perhaps nothing fundamentally wrong with that, but the result is a rather boring, repetitive and slightly tedious game that quickly outlasts its welcome, despite the constant stream of new mechanics being introduced throughout the adventure.

What I found most problematic however, was the amount of time that I have spent bouncing all four corners of the map, trying to figure out where to go next. I too often found myself navigating a set of challenging platforming section, only to realize that I had spent the last 10 minutes burying myself deep in the wrong direction.

It doesn't help that the audio-visual presentation, for all its beauty and polish, lacks variety, originality, dare I say, identity. This is a critique that very well extends to the story and characters.

    Play Guacamelee instead.

Whereas Hollow Knight is very precise, movement in Ori tends to be sticky, imprecise, and context-sensitive. Compared to the first Ori game, this one is much less linear and clearly qualifies as a true MV.

The best part of the game is the artwork. The animated layered backgrounds are absolutely gorgeous.

Magnificent continuation of the adventures of Ori spirit, a little ruined the impression of bad optimization at the start, but it does not change just a great game on all sides and a favorite story. I really hope that we will return to the world of Ori..

He became one of my favorite composers for video games and I hope to hear a lot from him in the future. It evokes such strong emotions that fit the game perfectly.

The game itself is definitely harder than the first entry but doable with trial and error. I really hope they somehow continue this series in the future.

One of the best 2D platformers you can play. It's improved than it's already succesful prequel in every aspect. The world is visually astounding and the gameplay feels way more smooth with more incredible abilities. It's a masterpiece.

Ori and The Will of the Wisps,

Sometimes the path will be open when you run from a boss but don't count on it one run everything will be fine the next run oops all the paths are closed restart the challenge. Never would have played the first one if I had known we would end up in this buggy wasteland. Companies need to STOP SHIPPING BROKEN GAMES. The bones of the game are good (story, visuals, level design) the flesh is necrotic and rotting (mechanics are a real unplayable mess). 3/10 fix it. Expand

The unique visual style of Ori 1 was made to look breathtaking in almost every situation, with some great new effects and bright and saturated colors. Every zone in the game feels unique and is fun to explore once you get to them. New enemies are so much fun to kick around, thanks in a big, big part to the fact that combat is actually there now! Getting a sword was jarring, but even in the first level, not having any crazy abilities from near the end of the game, it is so incredibly fun and awesome to zip around your enemies, landing as many hits as possible without letting foes touch you, and upgrading all the new abilites Ori 2 introduces is infinitely more fun than it was in Blind Forest.
And, best of all, The Will of the Wisps finally fulfills the promise of a real, emotional narrative that keeps to the idea of fairy-tale-like simplicity. Right from the beggining, the focus on adventure with friends is apperent. You fly and have fun with Ku (although I wish there was more of that), you rebuild the village sort of thing in the heart of the island, talking to moki and other characters, completing quests for them. It feels amazingly more engaging to travel for some good person's sake or to rescue your owl sibling from the clutches of a tragic villian with a simple but emotional backstory, instead of completeing requests of a tree diety and trying to save your mom who you don't know and thus can't connect to, from the clutches of a menacing creautre, who's entire problem with you and Nibel (the tree diety) is basically a huge misunderstanding. The story is actually great in Ori and the Will of the Wisps, precisely because of it's simplicity. It doesn't try to make you think and then to emotionaly engage you, it goes for the heart immideately and never lets go of it until the very end and a boss battle that you'll remember forever. Great game

It’s a shining example of how to do a sequel. They kept the core of what made the original enjoyable while switching up just about everything they could. There are some elements I feel it did better, some where I feel the original did better with, but on the whole they feel like they’re on equal footing. If you want a game that’s more of an experience than simply something to kill time, if you want something that showcases how artistic games can be, if you want an action platformer with plenty of approaches to combat, I can’t recommend enough that you pick up Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Also Ori and the Blind Forest if you haven’t played it already.

Its moments of brilliance are worth experiencing, but they shouldn't blind anyone to the shortcomings of a sequel that, underneath that beautiful surface, is as frustratingly flawed as the first. [Issue#346, p.98]
