It lacks a lot of things like boss fights and has quite poor level design, so it is a game for it's fan.

Took me 7 hours to beat and it was still too long. Probably the most disappointing and mediocre metroidvania I've ever played.

It's an ok platformer. Visually it's great. Mechanics is the same you've seen in a lot of other games like Rayman, Guacamelee and Dust an Elysian Tale. And frankly not as good as any of those. And definitely not as innovative as Fez or Braid.

Immediately start with the main. Don't understand why this game is so praised, she's wildly overrated. All I've heard, the game itself did not see, namely: the drama over where you are worried all the way that moment at the end where you drop a tear and a magical soundtrack. Personally, I have noticed that the game did obviously people don't really know a lot about this genre, a lot of flaws and complaints, the game design it is worth mentioning separately, because after the next new task, you're just like a mutt don't understand which way you should go. The apogee of all, was the point where we need to overcome the path, holding a ball which protects us, and here comes the juicy. The game is made in a bright style, which personally made me mad and many times screwed, because I simply haven't seen some traps and small enemies, the brightness was through the roof, all combined, and sometimes do it in one color. Playing on the keyboard, you will have a sharp movement(jerk), in contrast to the smooth on the gamepad, but the keyboard is quite passable. As for me as this is the usual game of its genre, not nearly standing out from the rest (in a good way), no memorable moments or characters, for me it was a one time thing. Again to suffer in her I don't want to.

Game had many positive points but I think it's a bit overrated. It's not a 10/10 for sure but it's also not that disaster.
An emotional story with great music & design, is what a platformer game needs. Game's great design reminded me of Rayman series. Music was absolutely perfect.
It takes time to learn playing properly. Game developers were totally ruthless in making last mission

Game developers were totally ruthless in making last mission (Mount Huro). I died 100 times there.
At last, this game is Dark Souls in disguise. It is not suggested for impatient people; Because dying, is main part of game...

Visually this is one of the best looking games I've ever seen. The characters, environments and animations are absolutely stunning. The level design is also very good, although not always very clear.

The music is very beautiful too but started to feel repetitive after a few hours so I turned it off a few times to give my ears a break. The story felt familiar. It's skillfully told but

The music is very beautiful too but started to feel repetitive after a few hours so I turned it off a few times to give my ears a break.

The story felt familiar. It's skillfully told but not very unique. A forest is dying and you have to save it by finding a number of magical items related to the natural elements in order to restore power to a big Spirit Tree.
One aspect of the story that I really liked is that it avoids using old moral absolutes like good and evil and instead paints a more complex image of how various natural forces may have to work against each other for different reasons.

I only have two problems with this game, but they're so big that I can't give the game a higher rating than 7/10. These are:

    1. The frustration
I know that there are people who enjoy extremely challenging games. I'm just not one of them. I play games to relax and feel good. Ori and the Blind Forest made me feel almost sick because of the extreme stress and frustratingly difficult gameplay.

There's nothing I hate more than precise and unforgiving platform distances where you have to jump at the very last pixel of one platform to reach the very first pixel of another. I constantly found myself stuck, having to repeat the same jump fifty or eighty times before finally making it across, usually for vertical jumps from the ground up to a climbable wall. There's nothing entertaining or enjoyable about that type of gameplay, in my opinion. The game would have been so much more enjoyable for me with more forgiving jump distances.

The same goes for the countdown scenes, where you have to escape death by running from a raising flood of various elements that will swallow you if you make the tiniest mistake. I got stuck having to repeat these scenes at least fifteen or even thirty times before I could pass. I assume it's an integral part of these extremely challenging games, that you must not only learn the right path but practice it to perfection until you can get every single button push absolutely right before you're allowed to move on. I just don't enjoy it. In fact, I hate it. It ruined the game for me.

I chose Easy mode because I mainly wanted to enjoy the story and some relaxed platforming, and I still got the most challenging and infuriating game experience of my entire life. It felt like the game developers wanted to torture me instead of giving me a good experience.

I took me 11 hours and 41 minutes to finish the short game. I died 421 times. That's on average 1.6 deaths per minute.

In Easy mode. To "enjoy the story".

I managed to finish the game somehow, put it didn't give me a sense of pride or accomplishment. My only thoughts were "Finally!" and "Never again!".

    2. The confusion
This game isn't content with giving you the most extreme and unforgiving challenges. It's also built-in to the game itself that you HAVE TO fail the first time, no matter what you do. For example, you often have to make jumps towards platforms that you can't see because they're placed outside the visible screen. Unless you make at least one fatal error and plunge to your death you'll never find out where the next platform is. And since you can't always save your gameplay, because you need a specific type of resource to create a save point, I ended up having to repeat many long sections of most levels - not because of my own mistakes, but because there was no way to know how to get it right the first time. This is one aspect of the game that makes the game developers seem almost sadistic, like they're setting you up for failure instead of success.

A particularly awful use of this sadistic type of game design appears once your character learns to dash jump using projectiles shot towards him/her. A series of such dash jumps often leads you high up in the sky where you often can't see a single visible platform to aim for, leaving you desperately dashing back and forth between projectiles, without a single clue where you're supposed to jump, and usually leading to multiple deaths before you finally discover where you're supposed to aim the last dash jump.

I'm a decently intelligent fellow and a fairly seasoned gamer, and I was still forced to look up walkthrough videos on YouTube multiple times to figure out what I was supposed to do and where I was supposed to go. Even after seeing the solutions they didn't feel obvious or like something I could've figured out just using my eyes and intelligence. Instead the solutions often confirmed that the game is designed to make you fail.

In summary, Ori and the Blind Forest is a stunning game that you should only play if you enjoy extreme challenges that require lots of effort and practice. I really love how it looks but I absolutely hate the gameplay.

Ori and the Blind Forest is a beautiful game with some fun music and sequences, and it keeps you engaged pretty much from start to finish. The game promises to be an emotional journey, but it's characters are not that interesting and you don't spend much time with any of them, and some of the supposedly emotional points in the story feel dull and forced. And the lenght of the game and how it's paced don't really make it feel like a real "journey". The fairy-tale style of storytelling wasn't doing it for me either, as it felt pretty disconnected from the rest of the story and was honestly pretty distracting. I can respect and appreciate Moon Studios' committment to simplicity in terms of story, but they don't comitt fully, and the story suffers because of it. And Ori's gameplay is boring, oops Expand

Beautiful, whimsical, difficult and brutal, Ori and the Blind Forest is a thoroughly engrossing platforming experience. [Issue#252, p.]

While the additions don't change the game in any fundamental way, the overall experience is still as amazing as it was last year. If you haven't played Ori before, this Definitive Edition is a must buy.
