: ( instead of taking the good of the old rpgs and removing the bad, they did it the other way around... it's sad but even I would make a better jrpg

Octo II has a great narrative. The stories are interesting, mostly. Some are more boring then others. The stories are the main element for this game. The fighting is pure JRPG turn based. Some boss fights require some specials powers. The level of difficulty become a real grind at level 18, and in that sens, there is a lot of grinding when you arrive at the chapter 2 of each character, andOcto II has a great narrative. I don't feel like there is a natural way of levelling except grind. Which I found dull to no measure. The sounds are pretty good. The graphics are also very nice for a semi 2d game. I give it 72%. I liked the game, not so much the level of difficulty. Expand

While there are still some improvements to be made in terms of difficulty balancing and dungeon designs, Octopath Traveler 2 makes meaningful improvements over the original and manages to realize most of its lofty ambitions, culminating into an experience not to be missed by any JRPG fan.

Octopath Traveler got a mobile spinoff and a sequel for a reason. It was a successful bridge between SNES-era turn-based RPGs and modern gaming expectations, and it offered engaging gameplay that could suck away hours of free time. Octopath Traveler 2 is more of the same with side quests, interesting characters, and a large world to explore. It essentially gives fans of the first game an additional 60 hours of what they already enjoyed, and newcomers can jump right into the sequel without worrying about what they might have missed.

While a bit too similar to it's predecessor, Octopath Traveler II is still a fantastic JRPG, that hits all the right notes... Quite literally, as it also has one of the best OSTs in recent memory.
