An absolute joy, like a whippy ice-cream on a hot summer’s day, it’s sweet and fun and you will want more.

Without Evermore, Ni No Kuni 2 would have been good. Because of it, it's one of the best JRPGs on PC.

Leave behind the headaches of everyday life and go out to save the kingdom of Ding Dong Dell. Whether you are a fan of Ghibli or not, Ni No Kuni II will grab you and won’t let go.

Ni No Kuni II does not innovate, showing no remarkable mood to deviate from its safe zone, but this is also its charm. Allied by very beautiful visuals and an incredible soundtrack, Revenant Kingdom is highly recommended to traditional JRPG enthusiasts who know exactly what to expect from a game of its kind.

Ni No Kuni II is truly a tale, deliberately naïve and full of colorful characters. The combination of different genres, JRPG, management and RTS, works well, as each style is interwoven with the others.

Ni No Kuni II tells a nice fairy tale with an iconic Ghibli art style. But the combat system is not good enough, and the design of side quests need some second thoughts.

Revenant Kingdom is one of those games that suffers for being a sequel to something that was a bit special. It's a good oddball JRPG. But Wrath of the White Witch had great storytelling, compelling characters, and epic boss fights. Revenant Kingdom just feels... smaller.

Incredible graphics, really captures the look and feel of an Anime.

The gameplay takes form in several different ways (Levels that you fight through, Final Fantasy style travel/fighting through an overworld, a field combat style of gameplay with strategic units, and later in the game a city/empire builder).

All of the gameplay elements are fairly simple and straightforward. I never found myself lost on how to do things like found in other over-complicated style JRPGS.

The story and difficulty feel targeted towards a younger audience, but as an Adult I still enjoy and appreciate both. I enjoyed this game more than Final Fantasy XV.

The first game mechanics was turn based and was good and all but I still prefer the new combat mechanics right now. The collecting of the monster was tedious and having a gold version that is very rare to get was really killing my OCD so I am really happy with ni no kuni 2 right now.

They also let you build your own kingdom and have many person to recruit was like suikoden.

I love the graphics even more now that I was able to play it on the PC! the environment is just so gorgeous.

Music was still the same it's good and all but almost all of them has the same BGM.

I also didn't give this a perfect score because it's incomplete.

But all in all it is a good game and recommended for JRPG lovers and who also played the first one

I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it because the game seemed similar to Kingdom Hearts (I wasn't a fan) based on the gameplay footage and graphics, but this game turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

I really loved the graphics. The game has a beautiful and unique aesthetic, with cel-shaded graphics and animals like dogs, cats, and mice being some of the main citizens of the kingdoms you explore. The colors really pop in this game and the environments are so well designed. Places such as the Forest of Niall and Hydropolis were my favorites. I was running the game on a Ryzen 5 1600, 16 GB RAM, and GTX 970. Performance was buttery smooth and the game stayed at a locked 60 FPS.

The music was also fantastic. The main theme that plays during the main menu and overworld never gets old. All themes that were specific to different kingdoms were so well done. The music and sound effects are really cute and add to the storybook atmosphere.

Speaking of storybook atmosphere, something I really appreciated about this game is that it puts an innocent, child-like, storybook spin on real-world issues that need to be present in any serious rpg. The game pulls it off so well and does so in a way that the story is compelling. Issues like revenge, racism, and self-reflection are seen through the innocent eyes of Evan, the main character, but are also taken very seriously. Not that there aren't moments that are cliche or reductive, but for the most part, this balance is executed really well.

Combat is a lot of fun in this game and a definite strength. The mechanics are similar to other japanese action rpgs like Legend of Mana. The default difficulty setting has been criticized for being too easy, so I played the game on hard mode, which seemed to make things more challenging. It's a lot of dodging, mixing light and heavy attacks, and using special skills. Battles are quick and snappy.

There were a few things that I didn't like about this game. All of the ancillary activities are kind of half-baked. I didn't find the kingdom building to be very fun. It's something that is required of you to do though, which is annoying. Building facilities and recruiting citizens may be fun for some people, but I just wanted to focus on the main story and progress through the game without worrying about the kingdom part.

I also wasn't a huge fan of the skirmishes, which are kind of like a real-time strategy mini-game where you control different units to complete various missions. Thankfully, they seemed relatively easy for the most part and didn't require too much strategy. But it's also required and there are some points where I found my units to be lower level than they needed, which required me to grind a tiny bit to get them up to speed.

The last thing I didn't like was that I hit a point in the game towards the end where I wasn't able to progress unless I completed a lot of side-quests related to kingdom building. It makes sense from the game's perspective, but it was annoying.

All in all, this game is a solid 8/10!

Still, the art style attempted to stay true to the last game which I think it succeeded in doing. The combat in this game can get pretty repetitive and the battles are super easy. The amount of padding in this game though is pretty annoying. The game forces you to work on your kingdom in order to progress through the story. I personally think that this type of padding makes the game less enjoyable. Yet, many jrpgs still do it to this day. Expand

    Cons:
    - Terribly thin and generic story. Early teens or kids might like it though
    - Games tries to do too many things and makes the entire game shallow
    - Shameless copying of sounds from Zelda Breath of the Wild
    - Turn based is still better. Might've been good to see X-Com style combat instead of the poorly executed warfare combat.
