Remarkably derivative and devoid of new ideas, creativity and innovation. What a waste.

Bought the game and for several days I cannot play it... always servers full! This is the most basic thing to avoid (specially being amazon). its just a confirmation that the studio doesn't care about players and only about profit.

Worst of all they don't have have support! Live chat is disable and they "advise" to ask in the forums! Anything but turn the responsibility for themselves.

Probably one of the worst starts of MMORPG in a history of MMORPGs. Absurd queues and lack of anti-AFK measures makes this game LITERALLY unplayable due to impossibility for most players to connect. 2000 player limit per server is a disaster. It shows that Amazon Games have no clue about how MMORPG should work or be maintained. Do not think they will ever fix it. They won't.

New Worlds is like it is made from an inexperienced game dev with 5 people, who never played a MMO before.
The graphics are fine, the UI and crafting system is great, but it is seriously lacking content and polish everywhere else. This issue is especially noticeable with the questing system, where you have the same fetch/kill quest only. Together with the three group dungeons, this is more or less the PvE content of the game. Sadly, in all PvE encounters, you have only the same reskinned enemy types.
But maybe I am unfair. Maybe, besides the advertisement, New World is meant for PvP not PvE. Well, PvP sucks. One faction usually controls the server (syndicate, if you didn't know) and gets all the benefits from it. You can do the literally same three quests for each city to try to steal the control away from the overpowered faction. If you then control their fort, you can declare war on them. In the war, the fifty best people from the faction can fight for dominance over the city. Cool and all, but it is not likely that you are chosen for the fight with 2000 players on the server possible competing for the positions.
Open world PvP is imho pointless. Even though your attributes are adjusted when you fight higher players, the benefits from their weapons skill points and equipment is unreal. If you are not with a strong group, you often get ganked, if you don't manage to run away. As a "motivation" you get 5% more XP. Why bother.
Running is the next point. Fast travel is expensive and there are no mounts. You will run a lot, since the quests, your way of levelling, making you run non-stop from point to point for minutes. Once, I had to travel for half an hour because of a quest. I kid you not. It is a ridiculous waste and disrespect of your time.

    Tl;dr
I think all the money went into marketing to try to make a win of a failed game. They succeeded. Don't add to it and buy it. It disrespects your time and is just not worth it. Play ESO, if you like Story, GW2, if you like PvP and fantastic mounts, or any other MMO.

The game is perfect for those who like writing cheats, hacking around network code, finding exploits and abusing bugs.

The game is perfect for those who like writing cheats, hacking around network code, finding exploits and abusing bugs.
People were cheating for weeks, getting like 1bln coins, maxing out all their skills, getting the best gear, obliterating everyone in pvp and capturing all the cities. And all of this resulted in getting a temporary 24h ban.
There are exploits for everything: duping gold, invulnerability, enormous weapon damage, instant skill cooldowns, instant healing, etc.
If you're into cheating, this game is for you. If you're extremely unlucky, in the worst case scenario (you run a twitch stream while using an exploit), you might get banned... for a day or two, just to come back and continue to abuse exploits.
Anyway, let's get to the gameplay.
    - Character creator. It's just non existent. There are like 2 body types, 10 faces and 10 hair styles to choose from. And that's it! There's no way to change race, height, hair length, voice or boob size. To be fair you'll be wearing armor and helmets so you wouldn't even see your character that much.
    - Hair animations are not there. The hair is just stuck to the head. It will go right through theirs helmet and body, so the bolder- the better.
    - No swimming. There is none. The character will just walk under water until they die.
    - No mounts. Lets say, there's a quest on the other side of the map. You'll have to run there on foot for like 20 minutes of real time. It's good for pvp- there is no way a raid would just warp behind your back, and you can just control all roads to the city. I'd totally love to have some kind of mount just to move faster.
    - Fast travel is... weird. You can warp to any city once per hour. You can also walk into the teleport and warp anywhere by spending a specific type of currency that's also needed to improve crafting results. It's either you teleport once a day, or you craft like 10 great items.
    - PVP factions system. It feels rather dated. There are like 6 repetitive quests u can do to get some gear and ranks. You can also fight for castles... but u can't unless you're in top 50 pvp in your faction. So, most likely, you will never get to play huge scale pvp. Oh, and there is no equalizing of factions. So, everyone just joins 1 faction and the other two are outnumbered like 10 to 1. Anyway, I've cooperated with random guys, joined a group and did get some frags.
    - Guilds. There seems to be no way to apply for a guild unless you create your own, or yell in chat and get invited... They didn't let me join, so there's not much I can say about it.
    - Crafting. I like it. You got to spend hours running around chopping wood, fishing, hunting and collecting herbs. Then you just come back into town and craft the hell out of it. Lotsa components are interchangeable, so you will be able to craft a ton of stuff at once.
    - Classes. There are no classes, and that's great! You can pick up any weapon you want and just use it. The more enemies you kill- the better you get. You unlock skills and perks of a specific weapon. There are 2 sets of weapons you can carry simultaneously. So, you can shoot enemies with a gun, and switch to shield and sword when they get close. Oh, and armor is fully independent. One can create a heavy armored close combat healer. Skill cooldowns are rather long (about 20s), so you can switch between weapons and use skills from both. There are only 3 skill slots per weapon, but it's not a big deal. Combat is still fun- you have to aim, block and evade, not just press LMB to win.
    - Optimization. The game is running at around 144fps on a 3080, all settings maxed out. In towns, when there are like 100 players running around on screen, it drops to about 80fps. And the game looks absolutely awesome!
    - There seems to be no way to sell stuff to NPCs, only to players.

All in all, New World is fun to play. It might not have the best character creator or the best quests, but the gameplay is good. It offers a ton of stuff to do. You wouldn't be running around talking to NPCs and reading some boring dialogues for 3 months like in FF14. Though I hope they'll add some stuff to polish the game here and there. And once you beat the game and get bored of pointless farming (took me about 3 weeks), you can just turn on one of hundreds exploits out there and start hacking with no risk of getting banned. Just cause that's what everyone does.

I found the game to be mediocre at best, nothing new in comparison to anything in the genre...the combat is clunky and too simple and the queue right now don´t help.

The combat feels clunky, the animation is strange when your hit confirm and when there are multiple people together melee feels horrible. The worst part for me tough is the generic monster that you see all the time...

New world has a huge focus on PVP and Crafting. Pvp is unique and a lot more involved than most MMOs. You'll find yourself fighting for land, forts and missions to try and overtake one another. Also being able to flag up for pvp rather than just having pvp dedicated servers is a great way to handle it.

Crafting is amazingly in depth with this game. Not only do you need to gather materials to level up each crafting attribute, the crafting tables in the towns themselves have to be leveled up to make higher tier loot. Makes it a faction project to start getting the next tier loot rather than just grinding for endless hours.

Where this game does fail is in PvE. The combat is fun enough, and some of the enemies are cool. In general though, enemy variation is some what lacking, and quest can be bland. Very rarely do I get a quest that I am excited to do. When a good quest does come along, it's great! Ive only had that happen a hand full of times though.

In the end, this is one of the best MMO launches I have seen in a long time, and an amazing base to build off of. As more content gets added to this one, it'll easily be one of the best MMO's out there. Till then, I will just call it a good start. So if your in it for nothing but PvE, I would hold off till the first DLC is released. If you love crafting and PvP, this is a great game for you already.

(P.S. Not an Amazon fan boy. Really don't care for their company all too much. Just can't deny that this is a good game.)

PvE feels very rushed out the door, PvP is boring with no real drive/goal, dungeons are awful, and forget it if you liked playing as a healer in any other MMO as this game has the worst healing/targetting in any MMO I've ever seen.
Add to this the total mess of a launch with mental queue times, players using other regions just to end up messing them up once their own opened. and a mountain of login issues.
If this game (term used loosely) is still alive in 6 months time, then there is no hope for humanity (or future MMOs).

UI is super clean, gathering / crafting works well, and although the whole Spanish Conquistador-type design is not my cup of tea, the artistic direction is nice, graphics are pleasing and the draw distance is certainly impressive (despite being nothing new in this day and age).

I could have endured the soporific questing and total absence of PvE stakes or story - I usually dont care much about them - but the two things that are really a no-go for me are the combat and world travel.

Regarding combat, I've only tried PVE (obviously with so few hours in), and I know it's a hit or miss ; I usually (vastly) prefer action combat style over tab targeting, but here the implementation feels too clunky. Too few skills, huge CDs, weird hitbox registration, turning around feels sluggish due to lackluster performance (and you pretty much need to turn around all the time), zone cast feels imprecise. The two weapon slot system (and leveling) is a good idea, but in the end it all boils down to magic range for pulling then melee with very little motivation to switch again once engaged (unless you play melee / life staff, in which case you indeed swap back to LS, to alleviate some of the potion-chugging that would go on otherwise, and it seems to be the meta). Mob attacks have no meaningful telegraphs (apart from heavy attacks) meaning any over-aggro will remove any strategy and turn fights into hopeless and frentic button mashing (well, mouse-clicking to be precise, as you'll be waiting for your next 10s CD to come off).

And then there's the travel. Not much to say here : you'll walk. A lot. A LOT. Now I know, I know, it is supposed to be a PvP-centric game and having people fast traveling around all the time would have defeated the purpose. I fail to see why it couldnt have been made more lenient in starting zones, because as it stands, you'll walk almost 10 minutes to your designated quest spot then back (unless your inn recall is off its 60m CD or you have enough fast travel currency), only to realize that the new quest you got is in the exact same place (in which case you either wasted time, currency, or both). Here you go again, have fun !

As others have stated (and better than I did), the game feels like it doesn't really know what it wants to be. PvE-wise, it's atrocious. I like PvP as well, so I could have endured, but not when coupled with the (imho) far too lackluster combat. I'm afraid I will pass for the time being, and I'll check it out again in a couple months :)

Banning for racism or hate speech I can get behind, but Amazon will ban for literally nothing more than you said a bad word once. Players have also learned mass reporting someone for anything gets them banned and are gleefully doing so. Opposing Governors get their companies and friends to mass report enemy Governors and their Company members to get them auto banned, making taking their territory in PVP a cakewalk. AGS says they do not have an autoban system, but it's pretty apparent to everyone by now they do. People have literally been banned for asking for a group in text chat. And the developer/moderators, like Windsward, are virtue signalers on steroids. rofl They haven't banned me and won't because 1.) I took the heads up to stay out of their chat system and use Discord instead and 2.) I've went back to games that actually hold more than 2000 people on a server with no ridiculous queues and have actual story and content. Game looks great. The environment is pretty cool most of the time. The gathering/crafting is excellent and the combat (when it works) is "good". The structured pvp is decent but the open world pvp leaves much to be desired. Thats about all I have to say about the good stuff....

    CONS:
The questing is AWFUL and padded as all hell. ZERO writing effort. Again, ZERO heart into the questing and story!!! The enemies almost all look the same and there are a billion reused assets. Most of the towns look they same but the unique ones are pretty cool. Open world pvp is spotty. Its just people toggling it for 10% exp and constantly getting 1 shot or one shotting others. I wont complain about the bugs because they seem to be slowly ironing those out.

overall the game feels like it has a good base. The things they did right are good. However, they really missed the mark on world building, lore/story, any semblance of uniqueness at all etc. It just doesn't feel like the game has any heart. 286.6 hours in according to steam and Ive really just been forcing myself to play the last 150+ hours. New World is an mmo that could be straight out of 2010. It hardly adds any new ideas to the genre and therefore feels dated in content. The faction system offers interesting possibilities for wars between players, but is not yet balanced. New World demands a lot of time from its players, but does not actually give anything in return that we have not seen before. Graphically, everything is fine, and although the game has microtransactions, they are only of a cosmetic nature. There is no subscription: for the entrance fee, the entire base game is open to you.

New World is such a large MMO that we will have to spend our time in the vast world of Aethernum. While some mechanics or functionalities don't have much of a place nowadays, it has other things that seem to me to be genuine and cutting edge in terms of massively multiplayer online development.
