    Really enjoying New World. Sure, it isn't perfect, but I don't get why the rating is so low. Looking forward seeing new stuff being added to this game. At the moment I'm really happy with playing New World.

    New world has a very good foundation and a beautiful enviroment.
    I had a lot of fun playing it so far, but it still needs more work when it comes to quests and making them more interesting.

    No more queues, a game with few bugs at release, very rare to report it...
    It is a sandbox, not a wow or ffIV, nearly all you'll found will come from players.

    It's a beautiful game with lots of potential. It has "good bones" to build upon. It's a traditional MMO where you kill X and fetch Y. The atmosphere is simply amazing, it's like running aroind inside a painting. Take your time with this game, don't rush, there is no need fornit.

    Setting 10 just to support the developer if non-biased i'd rank it around 7 but lets get shortly to pros and cons:

    Needs better optimising the settings. 16 ggb ram is recommended, 8 ggb ram, even with a good videocard will be only possible to play with medium settings. Well, if that possible of course, i've never seen personally MMO's with such beatiful pictures but in the same time system requirements yet :)

    pros: great combat system and non-target is made much better then it was in asian setting game "Tera" back then.

    One of the few "Western" stylish MMO's, since most mmo's are asian-style.
    way better crafting system then wow has, crafting is very important here for your character, it's surely one of the main activities of the game

    Very good pvp-wise. Only here you can shoot with musket as it feels you're wielding AWP in CS. It's totally unique for an MMO.

    No limitations due to classes. Basicly your character may be any spec you want depending on gear. Respec is very cheap(stat respec), respec with weapon skills is free any time in the city. And yes about weapon specs. Basicly you choose 2 weapons to combine, which use some common stat to empower and you max stat to the one you need with your gear + talent points. If you want to go from for example sword+hammer to fire staff/frost gauntlet - you can store your streight gear in the bank, respec everything to intellect/focus/const, get cloth gear with these stats and go level your weps to unlock weapon talents in the open world on mobs or in pvp after you got some skills. PvP gives much more experience in weapon skill then PvE. TLDR; your character can be any class, you don't need to level alts as you do for example in WoW.

    P.S. most hate is from wow players about quests/mobs, people think all mmo's are same as wow and should be done as wow, when in lineage2/GW it's quite similar to new world.     After putting in 60 hours into the beta and 150 into live I feel I can finally give an honest review.

    The developers have created a fantastic foundation, the world is brimming with life and feels lived in, the audio is incredible, visually it's by far the best-looking MMO on the market and while not perfect the combat is a refreshing change of pace from the more dated TAB target system. But as with any new MMO, it's not perfect and for the most part that's OK, there's nothing fundamentally wrong with New World that can't be fixed with time, something every MMO needs to fully mature.

    First I'll take about the elephant in the room and the reason for the majority of the bad reviews which are the servers. Now the servers themselves are almost perfect, once you're in there's no lag whatsoever. However, there are queues on certain servers, at the time of writing this not many servers have queues and if you're a new player there are tons of populated servers without queues so this will never be an issue for you. AGS are working on offering free transfers to everyone which should be available in a week or so, making it possible to join friends. As an MMO veteran, I can honestly say this is one of the best MMO launches I've experienced, queues do not make a bad launch, WoW Classic had queues and suffered from horrible lag even once you finally made it in, which is not the case with New World.

    After reaching the max level I will say this, it's not for everyone, this is a grindy, often difficult MMO that requires some level of skill and commitment, it will come as quite a shock to some people who are only used to easier MMOs. And that's OK, not everything needs to be spoonfed to the player, but just be aware this isn't retail WoW before you jump in.

    New World currently feels very much barebones, what's there is enjoyable but there's not that much of it, which is often the case with a new MMO, they generally need 1-2 years to mature. The later levels are extremely difficult to earn because the quests start to dry up, you can tell they ran out of time. And once you hit max level pretty much everything requires a group. The basic gameplay loop at max level is to farm outdoor 5 man dungeons, Expeditions (instanced dungeons) and slowly build your gear score, which works very similarly to the Division and Destiny 2. Obviously, this isn’t everything New World has to offer, it also has an incredible gathering and crafting system and a wealth of PvP modes.

    Speaking of the PvP, you might not get to do it as Company/Guild leaders get to pick who they want in their Wars and Invasions, this is a sore spot for me as I do not believe paying customers should be able to gate content from other paying customers. The whole system needs to be reworked IMO.

    As a new MMO New World is also missing a ton of QoL features, and some larger features, for example, a transmog system which is completely absent. There are 1001 QoL issues that I won’t go into, but you will often be left wondering “Why can’t I do that?” “Why doesn’t it work like this”?. Several features feel like they’re still in beta, most notably the chat system and auction house which are both woefully inadequate.

    Overall New World is a solid MMO and I’m very excited to see where it is in a years time.    … Expand

    I love how beautiful the world looks. Even small things like looking at the sunset is fun.
    However they need to add more customization options, maybe even more races and in general more rewards. Other than that I had an awesome start in New World.

    Definitely better rated than here. The game is good and everyone complains about the waiting. Choosing another world is probably out of the question for many, although Amazon wants to offer free transfers.

That being said, the vast majority of the gaming community's reviews have become the thoughtless diatribes of 15 year Olds sperglords. Never take a 0 seriously, guys. These kids ratings this are clearly morons. It's a solid game. Not without its problems.     Gotta love how beautiful the world in new world looks. Also crafting feels really nice too, while in other games it oftens feels rather dull. Not so in new world. It's really a fun game.

    - Pas de MONTURES. Parce que oui. Pour moi, quelles soient terrestres ou volante, on perd l'aspect rencontre et entraide. Y a suffisament de zone de tp pour aller rapidement d'un point A à un point B

    - Les développeurs ECOUTENT sa communauté. Et ça fait PLAISIR. Même durant les alphas et les betas, ils ont ajustés, supprimés et renforcés des mécaniques au sein du jeu.

    Pour ce qui est des points negatifs, les files d'attentes de 3 siècles n'ont pas arrangées les choses. De même pour la partie PVE qui n'a pour l'instant pas encore sa place en jeu. Les bugs graphiques, et le respawn beaucoup trop court denature le jeu. En espérant que tout ça soit corrigés.


    En bref, pour moi le jeu mérite un 7.5/10. Je met ma note à 10 pour relever le review bombing qui certe est dû aux premiers jours de la release qui ont été catastrophique, mais clairement pas mérité.


    Note: Ce jeu ne vous tient pas la main. Vous arrivez, et vous vous démerdez. Et c'est très bien comme ça.

If you're one of those people who were worried about getting this game because of the long queue times then don't worry. I've played this game everyday for about a week now and I have never had to wait to get into a server.

    This game is an MMORPG and has all the core basic mechanics that every MMO has. Although the quest are simple, routine, and nothing really special, I'm still really enjoying the story so far. I can say the same for the all the side quests. This is an MMO so if you're expecting for mind blowing quest then you probably shouldn't be playing this game or an MMO. Leveling in this game is a huge grind so I'm actually kind of thankful that a lot of these quest are simple because I can just blow through them, get some XP/gear, and move onto to the next. I've never been one for really grindy games like this one, but I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm excited to get to level 50 so I can participate in some of the end game PvP stuff.

    I really enjoy the combat in this game. It's not hot bar based and I like that a lot. I love being able to dodge, block, attack, and use my weapons special abilities. I love switching between weapons and creating my own style of play. A lot of MMOs are classed based, but there's no classes in this game. I love how I can be Melee DPS/Ranged DPS at the same time. I'm not limited to just one class per character. Depending on the weapons I use, I can be DPS, tank, or heals. I can work on those weapons and level those weapons up so I can unlock more abilities that I can use with that weapon. I can work on attributes and work on the specs i need to work on for whatever two weapons I want to main for whatever role I would like to play as. If i wanted to switch from DPS to healer then all I have to do is re-spec and set my attributes up for a healer and so on. I think it's a great system because everyone can be whatever they want with just one character.

    Running around everywhere in this game does really suck at first, but you can always fast travel if you have enough azoth. I see a lot of people complaining about the azoth system, but i have not run out of azoth yet. I try to be smart with my fast travels so i don't run out. If i have a quest to go to or turn in that's 500M away, then i'm better off just leaving auto run on and heading straight there. Now, If i have a quest that's 1000 plus meters away then I'm going to use some of my azoth to fast travel as close as possible. If you fast travel everywhere all the time then i can see how it's really easy to run out eventually. I think the reason why there's no mounts yet is so that people actually explore the game. Also I feel like a lot of people wouldn't work on any skills(logging, mining, tracking/skin, harvesting, and etc) if there were mounts this early in the game.

    The best part about this game Is that it has a lot of potential and room to grow. I'm really excited to see what Amazon Games adds to New World in the future. Things like new weapons, the addition of mounts, new zones, new dungeons, new PVP modes, and so on and so on. The future is really bright in Aeternum.    … Expand

    Really enjoying New World.
    I play along with some friends, and we take our time... no rush. And when we reach the "endgame" the game will be even better than it is now.
    It's always the same with the need to be max level in one week, players out there complaining "oh no no content!!!". Every time the same thing...

    Great game that breaks the mold of just copying WoW as closely as you can. Negative reviewers mostly just lie about there not being an end game (they probably haven't even done invasions or the outdoor elite areas) or combat being bad when it's solidly the best combat in an mmo thus far.

The servers are stable, the combat is fun and exploring is great. Questing is lacklustre, but if you're looking for a game with a deep story, rich lore and straight-forward (theme park) progression I insteadNew World is a well-made MMO with a huge amount of potential and the backing of an industry giant. The sound design, lighting, crafting and weapon systems are best on the mmo market. The servers are stable, the combat is fun and exploring is great. Questing is lacklustre, but if you're looking for a game with a deep story, rich lore and straight-forward (theme park) progression I instead suggest playing Final Fantasy XIV. PvP & dungeons are fun also, but hopefully will be further developed.

    Queue times are fixed now (less than a week after launch). Most of the negative Metacritic User Reviews come from an extremely small minority of angsty WoW players and should be ignored. Whether you want a tranquil 'Stardue Valley' experience or a sweaty constant state of War experience, New World has you covered.     На данный момент играть невозможно. Обычный человек с работы нормально только в выходные может играть, так как есть время ждать очереди. Но игра затягивает, как и любое ммо. Проблема в том, что в пвп режиме бегать нереальн опри прокачке, так как на одной территории бегают и лоу лвл и хай лвл челы. Лоу лвл страдает.На данный момент играть невозможно.     People are upset because New World, being produced by Amazon, had bad servers so they quit the game and wrote a poor review ranting that they couldn't be in the same world as Shroud or Asmon. Play in a regular server for literally no wait time.     What do I mean by "great potential"? Well I can see both, depending on how they'll support this game in the upcoming month and what they change.

    If they fix some bugs, the sometimes not relateable npc KI, bring new content like e.g. 10 man raids, seasonal competitive ranking lists, new dungeons and countries, it might actually be an great long term star in the MMO sky.

    If they don't fix any of the few little problems it has, but rather start to milk the players by making it an p2w or p2skip game, it might end up as nothing more than another MMO that HAD great potential.    … Expand

    Anyway, in response to this (and looking at you Steam Reviews as well) I decided to create a Metacritic account to post my review which up to level 36 is a strong 8 which I upgraded to a strong 9 in response to all the obvious trolls here. Frankly I wanted to give it a 10 but there are a few small flaws which mean this game is yet a Masterpiece, and unlike the 150 Negative reviews at the time of writing I want to be somewhat objective.

    Rant over. Let the review begin.

    Once you beat the queue which we all acknowledge was/is an issue, the server I played on was rock solid until a few lag issues in dungeons materialised over the last few days. Really, for an MMO launch I thought this was very smooth in general and the polish of New World is immediately apparent and the onboarding is great.

    On my RX580 with a Ryzen 5 2600 and 16 gig of ram I enjoyed a rock steady 30-40 FPS on my 1440p monitor and I am still blown away by the beauty of this game. Similarly to Vanaheim earlier this year the hues and ocres provide a visual feast. My one complaint is a lack of a weather system as each zone has its own unique biome. I would have preferred dynamic weather effects.

    It feels apparent this game took many design ques from the brilliant and under appreciated Conan: Exiles, and I find the world similar in some of their design aesthetics and concepts. The more commonly referred to combat system of Dark Souls is oft mentioned but I felt at home here as my last PvP MMO/Survival game was Conan.

    The story line if you bother is actually reasonable. Very ironic as you read the threads on blue tinted notes and feels as though you have seen it all before (in a good way) with very similar troupes used in our favourite games to date.

    You wake on a beach and head towards the First Light encampment, along the way fighting Lost, Undead and Pirates, steadily moving forward with a multitude of interesting distractions as you unravel the mystery's of Aeternum and become more powerful.

    I wont say much more, but if you love crafting, exploration, PvE questing (which serves to showcase the beautiful world and engaging combat) you become ready for the Expeditions (PvE Dungeons), PvP, Housing and general casual chill of this game or all out PvP if thats your thing too.

    No complaints what so ever for the price of entry and what a beautiful canvass to build on.    … Expand

    Best game I've played in a long time. It has its flaws but that is over shadowed by the fantastic art direction and fun and engaging gameplay. This game will change the future of MMOs. Btw. No more q time. Which was a interesting problem. It was bad because people couldn't play but fantastic to se so many people wanted to play.

    This game is unique and probably the freshest MMORPG this decade , it's an action combat MMORPG so take that into account if you want to get this game for the PVP aspect , game is stunning and feels like a survival sandbox where everyone is equal.

    Try it before you KNOCK it , i know i jumped on that hate bandwagon and man I was wrong.

    Из плюсов: Великолепная графика для ММО Интересные анимации, например, очень понравилась возможность зацепиться за карниз и подтянуться, когда тебя скидывают вниз. Очень качественный звук. В хороших наушниках прекрасно слышится с какой стороны к тебе бежит волчара, чтобы впиться в задницу:) Когда стреляешь из мушкета    Игра специфическая. Кому-то зайдёт, кому-то сразу нафиг.

    Интересная механика рыбалки, да и крафта/собирательства в целом:) тому, кто любит "мирные" профессии зайдёт 100%.
    Система смены оружия - великолепная идея, к тому же, хорошо реализованная. Сначала я скептически относился к двум панелькам по 3 скилла, поэтому был приятно удивлён в итоге. Время кастордера на 4 строки (вспомни эверквест, вов до лк и фф14 и др.) прошло.
    Не новая, но хорошо реализованная идея разделения локаций на биомы с соответствующим распределением погоды, местности, времени года и природных ресурсов: на болоте часто можно встретить нефть, на лугах различные лекарственные и не очень травы, а в горах месторождения руды, то же касается и биоразнообразия.
    На самом деле интересных аспектов намного больше, но для детального разбора придётся писать слишком большой объём текста.

    Из минусов:
    Очереди на старте, к сожалению, как и любые другие компании, амазон не справился с запуском, из-за этого очень много гневных, но по сути необоснованных отзывов, хотя проблема решалась элементарно, созданием персонажа на свободном сервере.
    Дисконнекты в очереди со сбросом места, однако, один раз моего друга после этой ошибки вернуло на его место, видимо, не успело пройти обновление статистики до рекконекта.
    Отсутствие возможности перезагрузить интерфейс (reload UI), при некоторых условиях перестаёт работать компас, пропадают квесты, панели скиллов, перестаёт работать автобег.
    Технические проблемы в подземельях, пинг, дисконнекты.
    Игра сильно загружает видеокарту, Требовательна к качеству соединения.
    Очень спорный инвентарь, кое что удобно, но то, что его можно открыть только СТОЯ (из положения лёжа/сидя персонаж подскочит в полный рост) на одном месте - это провал. Вас тупо могут убить, пока вы ковыряетесь в своих шмотках.
    Многие говорят, что квесты невнятные, внятные квесты в фф14, представьте себе нью ворлд с диалогами и катсценами по 5-15 минут после каждого задания. Бойтесь своих желаний.
    Отсутствие фильтров на трекинг ресурсов.

    Smooth gameplay, fluid combat, amaizing and complex graphics, the fauna and foliage are abundant and on point. The sky is really well done. The moving particles are also on point. Class customization is all up to you! Very enjoyable as a solo. Regions can be overtaken by a npc faction called the Corrupted!! Take your time and enjoy this game. It's just up hill from here!!

Also being able to flag up for pvp rather than just having pvp dedicated servers is a great way to handle it.

    Crafting is amazingly in depth with this game. Not only do you need to gather materials to level up each crafting attribute, the crafting tables in the towns themselves have to be leveled up to make higher tier loot. Makes it a faction project to start getting the next tier loot rather than just grinding for endless hours.

    Where this game does fail is in PvE. The combat is fun enough, and some of the enemies are cool. In general though, enemy variation is some what lacking, and quest can be bland. Very rarely do I get a quest that I am excited to do. When a good quest does come along, it's great! Ive only had that happen a hand full of times though.

    In the end, this is one of the best MMO launches I have seen in a long time, and an amazing base to build off of. As more content gets added to this one, it'll easily be one of the best MMO's out there. Till then, I will just call it a good start. So if your in it for nothing but PvE, I would hold off till the first DLC is released. If you love crafting and PvP, this is a great game for you already.

    Lots to do. I enjoy the farming loop, keeps me engaged, especially when trying to beat other players to recourses. Story is.. ok. Also get fable vibes from it which I like.

    It's been extremely enjoyable so far. I wasn't going to make a review for it, but a lot of the negative reviews only point to the server issues at launch and the score here doesn't reflect the current game fairly. Most of that has been resolved, it's a fine new addition to the mmo genre and is a great foundation to build off of.

    Good game , Fun exploring the world. The Crafting system is complex and engaging. Didn't try PVP but the PVE aspects are fulfilling. The game didn't add anything new to the formula, But that's OK , My only complaint is the long queue times. Hopefully that's something the company will address soon.

    I expected the queues to be quite bad at launch - which they are. However, once you get in there are a lot of fun to be had. Servers are stable, combat is alright and the crafting and everything in between is excellent. Highly addicting game. Graphics are gorgeous aswell for an MMO. Highly recommend it.

    Leveling isn't too hard, but it is a slight grind. But if you've ever played literally any MMO, then this shouldn't surprise you. The crafting system needs work. The good thing is that you can potentially craft the best gear in the game. The bad thing is that its nearly impossible because of the way they have it set up currently (trophies, crafting gear, food buffs). The grind to max certain crafting skills is also extremely hard and tedious. There is a lack of good pvp content at the moment. The wars are pretty fun overall, but they aren't really something that happen enough to consider true pvp. They have Outpost Rush, but its really not great, and if you're on a low population server its hard to get matches going. They recently introduced a 3v3 pvp arena mode, and I think that is going to be the first step in a good direction for New World pvp. My one and only true gripe with the game is the lack of content currently. Once you've maxed your character the only thing left to do is the repetitive grind to max your gear score. Once Amazon has added more content (pve and pvp) I really think the game will be great.    … Expand

    This game is extremely addicting. As for the long queues? I onky really experienced it the first day of launch, but everything ran extremely smooth as I immersed myself in Aeternum after the 1600 player queue. The next day, the queue was near instant.

    So many things done right in this game. Huge variation in things to do when leveling up. PvE and crafting (2 things i swore never to grind again in an mmo) is actually quite enjoyable. Time will tell if endgame PvP can sustain the game longterm.

The only MMO who did quests right was probably Runescape, but than I again enjoy the monotony. New World is not perfect but no recent game is.     What's good about New World?

    First, it has a top notch gathering/craft system that makes travel/exploration worthwhile. New World is one of the few MMOs where you can walk out of town, chop down a forest, cut it into lumber, then craft some weapons or furniture from it. Overall, I've found this part of the game to be quite enjoyable and probably the only genuinely unique thing about New World.

    The weapons/combat system is solidly engaging. Actives/passives are based off of the type of weapons you use and your choices of specialization. It's got a lot of room for expansion and fine-tuning, but it's pretty good as is.

    Travel is slow. A lot of folks complain about the lack of mounts and the Azoth (resource) cost of fast travel. As I said before though, the gathering aspect of the game makes this palatable. If you're picky on your gathering, you're not going to enjoy the travel though. If you gather, make sure you have the +Azoth chance perk on your tools and, combined with your Inn and a house or two, Fast Travel won't be so bad,

    The quests are typical. Go kill mobs and/or loot their chests for quest items. Nothing new or surprising the whole way through. Stay in your level range +/- 3 and it's all fairly easy to solo without reading the text or really having to think about anything other than efficient travel.

    For me, the biggest flaw of the game is that it doesn't really change. From your first 10 levels to your last 10 levels, you're fighting the same few NPCs -- boars, bears, wolves, bobcats, cougars, crocodiles and a surprisingly limited variety of undead pirates.

    I guess you could toss in rabbits, buffalo, goats, sheep, elk and turkeys too. But all those are really just there to be hunted as they wander around. Rabbits and turkeys are one-shot kills at every level, so you can't even really count them at all.

    I'd say the game has roughly a dozen distinct fighting enemies from beginning to end. Only the names and levels change. That was a problem with Dark Age of Camelot when it released in 2002. But New World makes that game seem like a living Monster Manual by comparison.

    At Level 1 you're killing boars and undead pirates with your wooden sword. At high levels, you're killing boars and undead pirates with a legendary weapon that doesn't look or feel much different. Your armor has improved, but it's probably not all that striking either. You can dye it, but the colors don't really pop enough to make that exciting. And no matter what you do to look good, you'll be outdone by a low level who just paid for the visuals

    In the end, we're left with a leveling trip that was fun enough, especially when no one seems interested in launching big MMOs anymore. But it's not the kind of fun that really makes players excited to do it all again.    … Expand

    I like New World. I have played many MMOs that are available but also returned to WoW, until now. After starting with New World I had the same Feeling years ago with WoW. Now I have quit WoW and only play New World. There i so much potential in this game and I hope the devs will continue to make this game even more great!

    I purchased the game Saturday and played it for hours all weekend. It's like a Greedfall MMORPG. I plan on putting hours into the game and I feel there will be lots to come to the game in the future.

    Cost / Benefit: Excellent. You only pay for the base game which has an affordable price, does not require a monthly subscription, the cash store is only for cosmetics and does not sell power-ups or gold.

    Started out in a rough spot but is getting better over time. If you don’t like a little grinding it’s probably not for you. The grind is much less than other MMO’s though.

    I have enjoyed the leveling experience, it took my about 50 hours to hit level 60 which is the cap at the moment I am writing this. For the $20 I spent, the 50 hours of gameplay was well worth it. Not a game that draws me in for long periods of time, but I do truly enjoy playing it here and there

    you don't depend on wasting time to level up another pj, you just level up 1, time is valuable enough to waste it leveling up 2, 4, 6, 10, different pj to be able to play with other weapons or classes.    … Expand

    Exactly how i wanted an mmo game to look like a third person perspective MMO with detailed and well controlled combat system, maybe it misses some of the mmo social element to it but i enjoyed the game so far.

    New World is an mmo that could be straight out of 2010. It hardly adds any new ideas to the genre and therefore feels dated in content. The faction system offers interesting possibilities for wars between players, but is not yet balanced. New World demands a lot of time from its players, but does not actually give anything in return that we have not seen before. Graphically, everything is fine, and although the game has microtransactions, they are only of a cosmetic nature. There is no subscription: for the entrance fee, the entire base game is open to you.

    New World is such a large MMO that we will have to spend our time in the vast world of Aethernum. While some mechanics or functionalities don't have much of a place nowadays, it has other things that seem to me to be genuine and cutting edge in terms of massively multiplayer online development.
