Feb 25, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds pulls off the ambitious foray into the open world genre with near perfection. The quality of life is better than ever before, and it's more of the same with improvements upon all existing systems. If you want to get your friends into the franchise, this is the game.
-
Feb 24, 2025Wilds is an absolute must play, and I won’t hesitate to say you’re missing out if you don’t at least give it a shot. Nothing but absolute praise for Capcom, the Monster Hunter team, and everyone involved in production.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds surprised me, improving on both areas I was critical of and loved in past games. A straight improvement in every way, Monster Hunter Wilds should easily become a franchise favorite for newcomers to the series as well as tried and true veteran hunters.
-
Apr 24, 2025Despite the nitpicks, Monster Hunter Wilds is a fantastic game and a fun iteration in the franchise. It's definitely showing it's growing pains, but what it does right, it really does right. It's energetic and exciting and worth the hunt when it's running well. It's quality of life improvements might rattle some, and we'll see how long the stay, but for me they really worked perfectly. Now if only the fix the dang multiplayer!
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds is the best Monster Hunter has ever felt. It looks incredible and plays even better with fluid weapon combos, an incredibly addicting gameplay loop, and various monsters to fight. It’s not quite perfect, with the multiplayer features being unintuitive, but once you start playing you just don’t want to put it down.
-
Feb 24, 2025It may not change the minds of those who didn't love MHWorld, but Monster Hunter Wilds is the perfect and natural evolution of Capcom's greatest success and the definitive monster hunting game that absolutely should not be missing from every hunter's library.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds has everything it takes to be a Game of the Year contender. It masterfully refines the series’ essence, delivering the most exhilarating and weighty hunting action yet. While the increased system requirements may be a hurdle, the sheer enjoyment makes it well worth the effort.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds is one of the most exciting games of recent years. It further polishes the winning intuitions of Monster Hunter World and grafts them into a living, changing open world to deliver a first-rate synaesthetic spectacle in the most successful instalment of the prestigious Capcom series. Repetitive by its very nature, but if the exquisite arcade action grabs you there's no escaping it.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds is the natural evolution of the formula introduced in Monster Hunter World and one of the best entries in the series. While veterans may find the lower challenge level noticeable, and performance could definitely be better on PC, the improved onboarding and accessibility, a surprisingly engaging main campaign, excellent map and monster design, and refined combat make this entry a must-play for both newcomers and seasoned Hunters alike.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds manages to deliver on every expectation one would have for a new Monster Hunter game, before dropping the throttle and blasting through every expectation you didn’t even know you had. With gameplay shake ups, weapon tweaks and a brilliant range of monsters strewn across a score of incredible landscapes, Wilds is a different beast that establishes itself as well worth the hunt.
-
Mar 11, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds is one of the most enjoyable entries in the series, thanks to its improved accessibility and refined mechanics. While its poor optimization is a flaw that’s hard to overlook, the sheer fun of the experience more than makes up for it.
-
Mar 10, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds is a great addition to the franchise while remaining accessible to new players. With a high learning curve it promises to keep you busy for hundreds of hours.
-
Mar 5, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds is the latest entry into the beloved RPG series from Capcom. The game strives to be welcoming to new players while providing veteran Hunters with a challenge, but doesn't always succeed, despite the admirable effort of the developers. It offers a narrative-driven adventure that will have you research, prepare for and carefully hunt monsters, while also building upon and iterating on previous games' systems.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds moves the franchise forward from previous games, yet it tends to step into some of the same traps that both World and Rise did. Those issues, however, are dwarfed by an addictive gameplay loop that will keep players engaged for hundreds of hours. When you factor in the game-changing Seikret, and the ease of which players can launch into hunts, Monster Hunter Wilds is a must-play for series fans.
-
Feb 24, 2025With Monster Hunter Wilds, the developers are really trying. Trying to keep the formula fresh and interesting, trying to embrace the benefits that newer and more powerful technology brings and trying to entice new players into the oft cult-like fold of Monster Hunter die-hards. I’m pleased to report that Capcom have succeeded in all these goals to some degree, though the degree of that success varies. There’s never been a better time to dip into the Monster Hunter franchise than with Wilds. Hope to see you out there, hunter.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds marks the series' first real foray into story-driven, cinematic storytelling. The more open and fluid exploration breaks away from the rigid task-based structure of previous entries, bringing the series a significant step closer to becoming a true open-world experience. The seamless flow from mission to battle to post-hunt creates an impressively cohesive gameplay experience. On the downside, however, the core appeal of the series seems to have been left behind in this modernization. The lack of monster variety and the resulting homogenization of the hunting experience remain notable shortcomings.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds combines thrilling combat in a vibrant game environment with a highly motivating upgrade loop.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds has so much to focus on, and so many different paths to the goal. It only gets repetitive and boring if you let it. There's a whole, lush, living world at your feet. Some of my fondest gaming memories, and the coolest battles I've ever had, have happened in this particular game. It's as close to a top score as you can get. We're only a few weeks into February, but I'm 100% sure that this will be a top 3 game for me this year at the very least.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds is a natural evolution of the series, improving on almost every aspect of its predecessors. While the main campaign can be a bit short, the real game begins in the post-game, where the possibilities multiply and the challenges become truly exciting.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds continues the momentum of Monster Hunter World to offer a more open and fluid experience than ever. Thanks to its vast expansive areas, we have even more the feeling of evolving in credible and living ecosystems to enjoy its original bestiary. Besides that, Monster Hunter Wilds improves the well-oiled gameplay of the series by adding new movements for each of the 14 weapons and especially the focus mode which really changes the way of approaching hunting. And if we can salute the care given to the rather nice story, we can still regret that this new episode does not better accompany new players to discover the codes of the saga, once again. Despite this, one thing is certain, it has never been as pleasant to get into Monster Hunter as it is today.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds is, predictably, one of the strongest base chapters ever made in the series, if not perhaps the strongest because of its drive at innovation. Taking many of the best elements of World, Iceborne, Rise, and Sunbreak, without disdaining a wink to the past here and there, Capcom has created a perfectly structured game, capable of pleasing newcomers and veterans alike with its brilliant progression and the extraordinary quality of its gameplay. It is a pity that, once again, the zenith was only grazed, due to content that unravels a little too soon in the endgame and a technical element that is not as flawless as usual. These are, however, all features that will likely be smoothed out considerably in the coming months, and this is nonetheless an incredibly strong and successful game in its totality.
-
Feb 24, 2025A lot of people will enjoy this kind of streamlining, but when everything is this streamlined, the overall effect is a slightly more mindless Monster Hunter. But when something incredible is happening every seven seconds, what’s a little mindlessness anyway?
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds is an incredible entry into the franchise that provides a fun and smooth gameplay loop and a beautiful world to explore and hunt in. It’s Monster Hunter at its finest.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds continues to push Monster Hunter into the mainstream, unapologetically presenting all the weirdness and wonder of fighting giant monsters and inviting everyone from die-hands to first-timers to jump on board.
-
Feb 24, 2025I could give many more examples of how Monster Hunter Wilds rewards our time and willingness to play with its various elements and options while also making sure not to scare away new players. But the reality is that it's much easier to simply recommend Monster Hunter Wilds to everyone. It’s truly an incredible game, and there’s no better time to jump into the franchise.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds isn’t just another entry in the franchise—it’s an evolution. It embraces the core identity of the series while pushing boundaries in ways that keep veterans engaged and newcomers welcomed. Every hunt is an adventure, every battle a test of skill, and every moment in the world a story waiting to unfold. While the difficulty may not be as punishing as past entries, the fluid combat, stunning world, and refined mechanics make it a joy to play.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds is the successor that Capcom’s best-selling game deserves. It improves on almost every aspect of World to deliver a tremendous adventure that, if you can make it over the steep initial learning curve, remains the most rewarding action RPG around.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds is an exceptional entry in an already storied and critically acclaimed series. It features some of the most fun and engaging combat in series history and features a high-quality story campaign that’s very entertaining to watch unfold as well as an endgame filled to the brim with meaningful activities.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds is a great game that takes the series a step further after World and will provide an enjoyable hunting experience for both new players and experienced veterans.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds is more of the same classic monster-slaying fun, but with new improvements and a seamless world to explore, the grind has never been better. This decades-old franchise still has plenty of fun left to discover.
-
Feb 24, 2025Best in class monster combat makes up for a wilderness that's a touch too streamlined.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds offers an enjoyable experience, even if it has its fair share of rough patches. While it may not excel in every aspect its predecessors did, it's an adventure that deserves your attention. The only question is whether its current offerings would be enough for your preferences and play style, or if it's worth waiting for new monsters and more challenging content in the future.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds appears to be a similar game to World, but when you look deeper, you see that almost everything is newer and more accessible, appealing to a wider range of players while also offering innovations that won’t bother fans of the series.
-
May 23, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds is a beautiful, fast, and accessible entry that plays great but lacks the difficulty and depth expected from the series.
-
Apr 10, 2025Combined with the strength of its combat, which is some of the best in the business, Monster Hunter Wilds eventually envelops you in its blanket of interconnected systems and ecology, which you can share with your friends. Despite its flaws, there’s just nothing else like a big dose of Monster Hunter.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds has a lot to offer, has been optimized in all the right places and comprehensive post-launch support has already been promised. For fans, there is no reason not to pick it up, while everyone else will certainly find it one of the best starting points to get into the series.
-
Feb 24, 2025It becomes such a good time, ultimately you can almost forgive it for the disjointed, confused main game. If you’re a big fan of the series, you’ll power through until you get to the good stuff and perhaps if you’re a newcomer you’ll get something out of the greater narrative focus but personally, I found it to be a bit of a bore until it really kicks into gear once it bins all of that stuff off and tasks you with the titular hunting of monsters as the primary focus. As much as I’d like to say you can forgive a poor 15-20 hour story mode when the post-game is potentially hundreds of hours of incredible content, the way I’ve always seen it is 20 hours is still a LOT of time to invest in a game before it gets truly good, regardless of how good it gets.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds may very well end up the best game in the franchise once all is said and done, and I definitely hope that ends up being the case. For now, however, Monster Hunter Wilds is merely a solid entry in the series that will only grow better over time. Exactly how far it will grow is anyone's guess; but I wouldn't dream of discounting how Capcom can take the game from here.
-
Feb 24, 2025I won't spoil any of the other monsters you'll come across, but there's seemingly no end to the cavalcade of creative monster designs coming out of Capcom. This has always been Monster Hunter's greatest strength. Whether you're alone or playing with others, Capcom understands the value of throwing you into one climactic battle after another in what would be a set-piece boss fight in almost any other game. Monster Hunter Wilds suffers from some performance issues, the environments are often bland, and the story feels superfluous, but when you're face-to-face with a fearsome monster, few situations are quite as riveting. Monster Hunter Wilds may only make iterative improvements to further refine the formula, but that's all it really needed to do.
-
Feb 24, 2025Overwhelming at first, but incredibly enjoyable throughout each hunt, Monster Hunter: Wilds is a fantastic action RPG. The gameplay is great and relies on various finely crafted elements by the Capcom team, from the monsters to the weapons, not forgetting the game world, which is as big a protagonist as the former. The PC version only suffers from a few noticeable performance issues, but these aren't enough to affect the fun of Wilds, at least in my experience.
-
Feb 24, 2025The most exhilarating and refined Monster Hunter yet, even if its attempts to balance the old and new don't always quite coalesce in its ongoing quest to please all audiences.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds' superb polish and gameplay refinements have the potential to elevate the iconic action-RPG series to new heights.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds builds on Worlds' combat, crafting, and upgrade systems. The new open zones and more complex monster behaviors are impressive and interesting to explore, and as always, hunts can be challenging, rewarding, exhausting, and fun. The lack of new weapons is disappointing, as are the many technical issues and the game's often unpolished feel. The bigger environments and more open-ended gameplay could have been the foundation for something really new and special. Monster Hunter Wilds feels like a lateral move rather than a significant advance.

May 8, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds delivers superb action, customization, visuals and cutscenes and is certainly still king of its kind. It might however not please you if you're looking for an old-school hunting experience as this game leans much more into the newcomer side of the audience. There's handholding, a bit too much story going on and some monsters might feel underpowered against our ever-improving arsenal. Great game overall, hopefully it'll be better adjusted with TUs and a likely master rank expansion. [Recommended]

Feb 24, 2025And for the most part, the game performed great. I experienced little to no frame drops on PC, even if lowering the texture quality to medium makes the game look less than ideal. Character models specifically look a bit muddy, and pop-ins are bound to happen. There were a few times my camera freaked out, which caused random triangles to pop up in the periphery of my screen if I swiveled my camera a bit too close to a wall. But I doubt most players are diving into Monster Hunter Wilds for the character creator, which is no Dragon’s Dogma 2 and does a serviceable job, or to scrutinize every little detail in the zones or on the monsters themselves. That said, the game was stable, and sometimes that’s all you can really ask for in something as ambitious as Monster Hunter Wilds.
-
Feb 24, 2025Wilds is once again a game of hunger and hunting, self-providing, and grinding your nights away against the whetstone of loot. Therein lies both the appeal and danger of Monster Hunter games. They are stuffed with compelling completionist catnip, yet wrapped in a philosophy of busywork. You are killing a very cool monster to get better gloves so you can kill another cool monster for more gloves. I mean, yes, that is video games writ large. And it keeps me sustained on the hamster wheel for a while. I too desire a fashionable suit for my intolerable cat.
-
Feb 24, 2025Monster Hunter Wilds sands off a lot of the edges from the series, and while I was concerned that this could leave the game feeling frictionless and uninspiring, the addition of a really engaging story, some of the coolest monsters I’ve seen in any game, and the new systems all combine to make it just pure fun. It’s good for newcomers because of all the helpful parts, but veterans will be overjoyed with everything that comes after the credits, not to mention the wonders of having two weapons easily accessible. Monster Hunter Wilds is probably going to be my game of the year, and I’d be shocked if that’s not the case for a lot of other people too. [Exemplary]
