    [UPDATE]
The always online issue that some people were complaining about has been patched. As for the 24hz issues, I had the same issue but lowering the resolution to the previous 16:9 shouldn't degrade too much of the experience since the game doesn't have much focus on graphics. I'm playing the game on my TV with 1366x768, it's actually not too bad (better than 720p).

What can I say... I'm a fan of hack 'n' slash type games. It's more fun than DmC in terms of boss battles and would be similar to God of War. The gameplay is quite fast paced and refreshing for a slasher, a mix of Devil May Cry and God of War, like Castlevania:LoS. I do not recommend playing any hack 'n' slash games with keyboard and mouse. Negative reviewers regarding bad controls shouldn't be playing hack'n'slash games. For some people using the gamepad and still find issues, the right analog stick is used by pushing and pulling in the directions you want the blade to strike. E.G. you want to raise your blade and strike downwards, push the right stick up then let go or bring back down and ready the upper slash position. Using the right stick allows you to slice at more accurate angles and greater speed depending on your thumbs' ability to move.

    Story: 6
It doesn't seem too interesting but the fun in the game lies more in the combat. If you're a fan of hack'n slash type games, then an 'ok' story shouldn't bother you. I haven't finished the game yet and will come back to re-rate the story when I'm done but where I'm at, it doesn't seem that great.
    [UPDATE]
I've finished it today and I'm sticking to my main point. The story is not so great and the voice acting gets really cheesy the longer you play it and have more conversations with the crew. Albeit, some topics are quite funny like the classic MGS games.

    Graphics: 6
I expect better than this especially when the game was a 23GB download on steam. The only positives I would give this game is the art because I am a nerd in robotics. If robotics or art design doesn't trigger your interests, then it would be a 3-4/10 because the textures look low res and character models aren't detailed. The physics is pretty cool in my opinion; you can run up to most objects and chop them up to pieces with quite high precision (e.g. the giant, fat tree in the first level could be cut up even though it looked like it couldn't). For graphics, I'd blame the xbox 360 constraints during development because if this had been a PS3 focused title, the character models and textures would be many times better as can be seen in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. The addition of particles is a fairly nice addition to the game. I've an Nvidia card so I don't know if the particle effects are tied to physx or not.

I'm currently using a PS3 controller using Motionjoy drivers combo with Better DS3 with the xbox profile setting (google for them if you have a ps3 controller or intend to get one since they are cheap now that PS4 is out). The bluetooth adapter I'm using to play wireless PS3 controller is a generic one that was recommended by other Motionjoy users and devs ($10 including shipping overseas). If you have an xbox360 controller, then it should be easier from what I've heard. Other than those technicalities, God of War III gameplay remains king for me but this game isn't too far off.

This game is ridiculous, absurd and farcical. It is glorious.

(Also: yes, it's designed for an XBox controller, but that's not a "problem"; if you're a PC gamer in 2014 still insisting on kb/m even though it's obviously unsuited to most games out there, YOU'RE the problem.)

It makes up for that with its kitschy, swivel-eyed disregard for anything approaching good taste or class. It would be comforting to think that Kojima Productions know how silly their games are, but the MGS series suggests otherwise, and maybe that's for the best. I doubt this level of campness could be achieved unless the makers looked upon their wacky story with anything level than the utmost solemnity. It is toe-curlingly theatrical, and never anything less than 100% entertaining.

Graphic is awesome and the programmers managed to get a lot of polygons where needed, and almost none where no one cares, totally appreciated that because this game never ever drops fps.
Music is nice, you get a lot of electro-ambient music running around and pop-rock music on boss fights (I have to say I don't like that kind of music, but since boss fights are not hours long it doesn't hurt much)
Plot is good, of course nothing new: the bad guys against the children + the world, the good guys trying to save them + the world, but it was at least enjoyable.

Gameplay is fantastic, you have the classic slashing around, parries (not really a good button combination for those, a guard button was probably better than light attack one) and a blade slashing mode that works slowing time a lot and letting you MANUALLY slash things (having the slashed object cut exactly where you aim). I felt like Goemon with that one.
Difficulty seemed quite fair. I have to say I'm not used to the semi-interactive cinematic system (press button X, now button Y, spam button Z, etc) and so I had hard time with bosses for like 5 minutes at 0,1% while failing the semi-automated cinematics instructions...

About flaws, I think there are just two quite noticeable: the replenishing mechanic should have been far less than FULL replenishment (this quite often makes things too easy) and the camera movement is awful with a mouse (default keybindings are instead "acceptable").
So, well, the camera is fine if you have a controller since it's a 100% port from console versions (DLCs included) but controlling the camera with a mouse is just not possible at 100% effectiveness. Your mouse works like an analogic lever (which is not) and thus the erratic camera movement with mice.

Anyway it was good overall. So let's say totally recommended if you have a gamepad, not so much if you've not and you're not that much an hack and slash fan.

Unlike what sometimes happens when I play a popular game some years after it's release, I do see the appeal of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

One of my last glimpses into an era before Konami utterly sabotaged the Metal Gear series, MGR was something of a "dream team" game: The visual design and deep political and technological musings of Kojima Productions and the gonzo action of Platinum Games. While not a generally a fan of Platinum's brand of button mashing, "get good or go home" approach to combat design, I found MGR much more enjoyable then God Hand or Bayonetta, though in the end I think I preferred Mad World.

A little plot for those unfamiliar with the parent franchise- in as much as anyone could hope to summarize Metal Gear's story. You take the role of Jack, aka Raiden, a conflicted former child soldier turned cyborg mercenary, currently in the employ of Maverick, a PMC with a moral code of conduct attempting to help small countries stabilize themselves. Your enemies are the significantly less moral cyborgs of another group, Desperado, seeking to foment conflict in trouble zones around the world. After a job goes bad and Raiden gets the ♥♥♥♥ kicked out of him by one Jetstream Sam, a Brazilian ronin with hidden motivations, he gets some upgrades and a chip on his shoulder. Armed with a "high-frequency" blade, he must grapple not only with Desperado's top lieutenants, the "Winds of Destruction", and Jetstream Sam, but his own past as the feared "Jack the Ripper".

MGR's controls are easy enough to pick up, even on keyboard, though the camera is incredibly wonky. The game's challenge is learning to block enemy attacks and the timing for parries. Blocking is non-standard in function, requiring you hold a movement button and press attack in the direction of an incoming blow. I never quite got the hang of it and you essentially cannot defeat the final boss without it, forcing me to beat my head against the fight until I learned the timing for the blocks. I kind of face-tanked my way through most of the game via the DLC Medical Body included in the PC version, but you will eventually run out of health kits and have to figure out blocking, especially, I would imagine, on higher difficulties. On easy, an assist function makes blocking easier by eliminating the need to hold the correct direction.

Blocking woes aside, the combat is quite fun. Raiden has access to a variety of moves and sub-weapons, as well as the much-loved "Blade Mode" function: Holding left trigger, or left shift, depending, activates a slow motion mode where you can use the mouse or right stick to carve up enemies into possibly hundreds of pieces, though a single cut will often suffice for a kill. And, if it is a weak enemy or a stronger enemy that you have opened for a finisher via a parry or simply beating them down, you will have the opportunity to use "Zandatsu", that is, striking their core and retrieving their repair units, thus replenishing Raiden's health and power, the latter of which is consumed when using Blade Mode. You have the option for stealth kills and even using Metal Gear's famous cardboard boxes to attempt to hide from enemies. To help with this, you can "Augmented Reality" vision mode which allows you to spot enemies and items through walls and plan your approach to an area. On normal you are not really punished for being spotted and having to fight your way out, at least compared to Metal Gear Solid, but you do get a bonus for not triggering alarms and this is probably necessary if you were going for an all "S" rank run. Other items include various grenades, rocket launchers, and health and power kits.

While not nearly as long or dialogue-dense as its parent series, MGR is nonetheless dialogue and backstory-heavy for an action game and the "Codec" function is alive and well. Any time during a mission, including boss fights, you can call up your mission control NPCs and converse with them. These conversations may sometimes give hints for defeating bosses, but many of them are simply for flavor: politics, military tactics, food culture, technology, and so on. One character, Courtney, also handles manual saving, though the game frequently autosaves. From the Codec menu you can also access a customization menu to purchase upgrades for Raiden's cybernetics, and a VR mission interface containing various training missions and bonus challenges. Completing these missions awards "BP" currency just as the main story does, which can be used to purchase the aforementioned upgrades.

While I cannot say I ever actually got good at it, I nonetheless enjoyed MGR, especially having previously played Metal Gear Solid. If you are familiar with Raiden from the second and fourth games and perhaps was not a fan of him as I was, at least initially, he really comes into his own as a character here. Sneaking was never really his thing anyway.

From the start, the player can experiment with the combat system, as well as Raiden's ability to slice up a lot of his surrounding environment. As you progress through the game, you can upgrade and customize your skills and stats to create a weapon loadout of your choice, each boss weapon you earn having its own strengths and weaknesses. The soundtrack is incredibly fitting, with boss battles getting iconic and unique theme songs that finish up with their own climatic and bombastic endings. The story does not take itself too seriously, providing a lot of comedy while not being afraid to switch to a more serious tone when needed.

Metal Gear Rising is however not without its flaws though, as the controls and parry system can be confusing and difficult to pick up, some of these harder parts of combat which become extremely needed in the later parts of the game, or if you want to go for the no-hit run through the game. A lot of content feels unnecessary as well, with VR missions being generally very difficult and the DLC changing most of the gameplay in more lackluster ways that take away from what the game had been doing well. (I'm looking at you Bladewolf DLC with your stealth execution gameplay). Replayability can differ for the player, as some may find the DLC and VR missions worth the extra time.

I do highly recommend this game, especially if it’s on sale though as it makes for a fantastic game on the first playthrough, and maybe even to replay occasionally.

This time, instead of the kind of stealth game we were used to see we have a Hack and slash developed by one of the best companies in this genre, Platinum Games.
The story takes place several years after Metal Gear Solid 4, when the patriots seem to be vanished and looks like the peace is coming back to world thanks to private security companies like "Maverick", in which Raiden (our main character we already know if we had played other metal gears before) is involved. However, this last for a little time and Raiden will be forced to get back to action once again.
The game is full of frenetism and action moments, what makes it really epic and gripping. The gameplay is by far the best part of the game, it's really well made. It's really fun chopping into pieces the enemies who dare to face us with our blade like they were butter and going trough the levels as a cyber ninja. The bosses are great too, from Metal gears to some others cyber ninjas that we'll have to fight along the game.
It's a pity that such an amount of fun was so short, it will take us around five hours to finish the game what really makes us to want more. Another thing that we have to take into account is that despite we play as a metal gear character, is not as deep as any other title of the saga. The customization is poor and the story is irrelevant.
To sum up, the game is epic and you'll enjoy a really good couple of hours. However, it's not necessary for the Metal gears storyline and the depth of the plot is disappointing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The two biggest issues with this game are the QTEs (you come to know me as harboring a fierce hatred for QTEs in general, as they dumb down combat) and the camera. The final boss fight involves a series of QTEs to kill him once and for all, and they absolutely *must* be done within a fraction of a second to do it properly. Even when I pressed Shift to use Blade Mode correctly and on time, the game still punished me as being not quick enough and I lose 25% of my HP. The camera hardly faces the direction you want to, making the fight even more difficult to go through. I could tolerate the level of unfairness in the combat mechanics to a certain degree but the final boss fight was the last straw. The game worked and the story was okay at best, but the QTEs and sloppy camera really put me off. I'd say it's worth checking out if you're a fan of Metal Gear and/or Devil May Cry, but ultimately the issues with this game will piss you off as much as it has done to me (and I was playing on Normal). Otherwise, I recommend skipping it altogether. Expand

The save system is very non-ideal and thus you end up having to restart the whole level instead of just an earlier save/checkpoint.

There are certain things that are frustratingly finicky, such as stealth kill. You get right on the enemy's back but only some of the time it will give the prompt to stealth kill. The other half of the time it just does nothing and alerts the enemy and you have to play the section over and over.

Doesn't seem to be any option to bind a key to weapon switch so you have to go in the menu every time you want to do that.

The game has some cool & unique aspects but the annoying parts kind of ruin it.

The AI's detection of you when you're trying not to be seen has zero consistency.

The blade mode can be super inaccurate at times. Such as when you need to cut a guy's arm off to collect a special item. I found myself having to restart the checkpoint over and over even though the sword appeared to be going through the highlighted spot. Ended up just ignoring that whole aspect of the game because it's just not fun.

Too often you're fighting against bugs/glitches/bad design. To where any desire to complete the bonus objectives/challenges (or even the end of the game) is lost.

This Game screams ConsolePort right in your Face. Grafics are ok, but not very impressive. Demands in Combat are not high. You have 2 Attacks you can somehow combine. Controlss with M+K are working, but here again it screams for a Gamepad. Bossfights are cool looking but the demands to defeat a Boss are not that high.
For low Price on Steamsale its ok, but i expected far more than a Game

I don't know how many times I cursed because I was against a wall and all of a sudden the camera decided to face the wall so I couldn't see who or what was attacking me. This becomes more important later on as you're expected to block or dodge attacks but you can't see the visual cues.

Boss fights are pretty easy up until the last couple of them. When they start to become more difficult it can be very frustrating. For example, you can get through most of the game while just ignoring the parry mechanic for the most part but one of the later bosses basically requires you to be proficient with it.

There are a lot of times also when you are basically going to take a lot of damage and there's nothing you can do about it. Attacks can line up in such a way that there is no ability to avoid them so you parry a couple of attacks and then eat an attack that can't be parried. And then two more while you're on the ground. And now you're dazed.

The story is okay (but not great) to start, but when it attempts to delve into Jack's past it becomes laughable.

The game's flaws are few, imho, but they are so critical that it really made me dislike it at the end. If you're considering this game, you're better off with God of War, Devil May Cry, or Darksiders.

It constantly looks away from the action and focuses on the wrong thing while actively preventing the player from adjusting it. There is also no Lock-On feature which makes combat even more awkward as the player cannot easily single out specific enemies and must rely on other methods instead. Compared to the Devil May Cry series with similar gameplay this game falls short which is a shame since it nails everything but the gameplay.

    - Really wonky camera - just when I try to line up a shot with the rocket launcher, it randomly 180s me. Even just running around it jitters back and forth constantly, and points me at walls randomly. Every non-trivial fight is two battles: one against the enemy, and the other against the camera.
    - Related: the game can't decide whether it wants to be played like an FPS or side-scroller - sometimes it expects you to move in screen space, sometimes in world space.
    - Consolisms that don't translate to PC are everywhere. For instance, repeatedly mashing a mouse button just doesn't work here. Repetitive stress injury, anyone?
    - Constantly flipping back into menus to select usable items (there are very few configurable hotkeys)
    - Parrying feels like it just doesn't work a lot of the time, even if all you are doing is just sitting there trying to parry. Not sure if this is a bug or whether it is just overtuned.

On the plus side, the graphics, music, and sound effects are pretty awesome even now (5 years after release). Even the story isn't too bad. But overall this game is just really frustrating to play on the PC. There is a good game underneath all these issues, if they had just put in a bit more tuning, it might have worked out. Its really too bad. If you choose to buy this, make sure you get it on sale, or play on a console I guess, maybe it is better there.

But even that was not the worst part for me. What made me quit this game is that I had to kite mad kicking cow-robots in the very beginning of the first chapter, 5 minutes each. Is it a fighting or what? I always thought that fightings are about doing combos and dodging enemy attacks, not running around enemies and hitting them from time to time for hours. This is not interesting at all!
The only good thing about this game are cutscenes. They are really cool. But this is a game, not a movie. So IMHO it's not worth wasting time and money.

This game would have been a whole lot better if there was a better blocking system.
All you can do is parry and even then its pretty hard when you have heaps of enemies attacking you at the same time. Due to this, you are forced to run away and kite them 70% of the time which to me, kills the momentum and self satisfaction of a relentless combo. This also makes balance an issue as well,

Also I am pretty sure blade mode is broken for pc because at points I saw the sword not doing anything up close.
Story is decent, dialogue isn't so much.
I guess I should give this more of a chance, but at this stage I wouldn't say its great, yet not terrible either.

Forget Metal Gear. I started this game with an open mind, knowing it wasn't the tactical game other MGs are, but I immediately felt a disturbance in the force. Let's begin...

    PC PORT
When the game opened, a window greeted me. "Oh, it must be 1999," I thought, "maybe I opened my SNES emulator!".
Then I realized it was my latest purchase, and I hurried to the customize menu.
That's when things began to go wrong.
It doesn't feature the resolution I play with, which is 1920x1200, so I had to play a 1920x1080 windowed. There are indie games that are more flexible than this one.
In pain and hurt by this, I start the game.

    FIRST BLOOD
After a slow tutorial you learn the game has basically two buttons you must smash to go ahead, plus an "activate for effortless movements" button where you don't have to do **** to go over obstacles and a "stop time and cut sh*t" button that lets you sushi up your enemies.
I was thinking "This game f-ing plays itself". But I didn't know it got worse.

I started a mission and - behold! - smashing buttons on my controller got the job done.
I tried to parry, but it was the same key as the hit button. I have a xBox controller: I have 10 keys I can press and you force me to use the same button for hitting and parrying. Nice job! I don't feel like an idiot at all, having to use just a couple of buttons to play the game.

    THE F- YOU CAMERA
The camera earned its own section. You can rotate it BUT IT ALSO FOLLOWS YOU.
That means that if you are trying to fight, let's say, a boss that moves fast, you may center the camera on him while you dodge his attacks just to see it move away, pointing to you.
It doesn't care if you need to know where your deadly enemy is, why would you?

Dark Souls has been out for so much time one would hope people learned how to do a decent third person action game.

    LEVEL DESIGN
The level design is plain. Just plain. Follow the road, don't explore too much (or we will put an invisible wall, just to remind 2014 is here but nothing changed, mofo), just go straight ahead.
    Really nothing to say here.

    CUTSCENES
When you realize how many cutscenes there are just in the first hour of game you'll this game plays itself.
That's the pattern: go ahead, kill a couple of minions, now kill a bigger one, CUTSCENE, walk 20 meters, CUTSCENE, ninjarun 40 meters, hit a guy, CUTSCENE.
It's worse than the other Metal Gear games. Kojima, write a movie already!

    THIS GAME PLAYS ITSELF
Under 3 combat buttons - check!
"Press me to do everything while chasing enemies" button - check!
Refill life when killing even stupid minion - check!

And just when you think it can't get worse, someone over your codec goes "Yo Raiden, did you know you can SCAN THE AREA AND KNOW WHERE ENEMIES ARE, EVEN BEHIND WALLS? AND DID YOU KNOW THAT SCAN REVEALS WHAT YOU CAN CUT?" and just surprises you. The game just stopped being a game and started being a... don't know. I don't really know.

    IS THERE ANYTHING GOOD?
The graphics are great, sounds are great as well.

    CONCLUSION
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. I bought it because I wanted to let Kojima & Co. know there is a market for pc games, and because I'm a Metal Gear **** But if I could travel back in time, instead of killing Hitler or warn my young self about that motorbike accident that would shatter my arm I would slap myself every time I was thinking about buying it.

Seriously guys, go do drugs instead, it's a more intelligent choice.

Fighting has actually been the first issue, you are not playing an agile character, so you need to be sure of what you intend to do in any situation because there's not much movement option you can use to move your ass out of a bad situation.

Camera has been the second one, the camera is actually too close of your character which will make you loose him in close space and make you unable to look around you when you switch to blade mode. Obligation for you to use target mode to set this to a better level.

To complete, this game has some nice feature and some great idea had been re-use from MGS but the gameplay really put this game way down in my list of favorite beat-them-all, Even if the game is affordable, really feel like a bad one.... Can't exit while on Title Screen... Really !?

Yeah, yeah, let's give a game 10 out of 10 because funny Jetstream Sam memes and music is a bit good. This game is terrible, I don't know about consoles, but PC port is beyond garbage, I don't care about your "Kojima is genius" **** since this game is a slasher and in this genre gameplay must be a top priority, and here, well... Raiden, even thought he is a cyborg and has super speed, feels like a snail with all this endlag. Cutting humans is a bit fun since all you have to do is heavy into blade mode, chop their... I don't know what that is... and get that dopamine from slaying an army in a couple of seconds, but when it comes to something more serious, it seems they just decided to slap giant robots with hyperarmour and tons of HP on a battle system that is clearly designed for a quick slash against weak opponents. Bosses, where do I start, they all want to be flashy but all you have from them is frustration, you want to know why, because... CAMERA. Camera in this game is awful, it's a slasher for god’s sake, and it has one of the worst camera positioning I have ever seen in my entire life, it always tries to auto aim onto opponent, it has a FREAKING DELAY for some reason ON A PC VERSION, sensitivity is always going from extremely high to "I literally moved my mouse from one side of table to another, and camera didn't move at all", this game thinks it's smarter than the player who plays it, and worst of all, you can't turn it off. You will have to get used to this awful camera, and worst part, some bosses are unbeatable because of that, example MoonSoon, he has an attack when he goes into smoke and attack from different angles, sometimes he attack face to face, so you can easily parry him and escape being comboed for half of your life, and sometimes, he just goes from a back, and no, your reaction won't help you, as I mentioned before you can flick your mouse as hard as you can, camera won't move at all, and why is it essential, because parries in this game, related to camera, so yeah good luck with that, this is also a reason why fights against crowds are complete hell, because your camera even if you don't want it, always sets some sort of enemy target and when clashing a lot of enemies you will often experience camera going earthquake mode since it always changes its target as a result you will have your camera shaking, going from place to place, and it will also give you problems with movement and parries, good luck, because this is the only thing you can rely on in a fight against same MoonSoon, just hope all his attacks when he goes into smoke state will be face to face. Then we have parry itself, who the @%#* thought it would be a good idea to make a gameplay essential mechanic require two buttons to be pressed at exact timing, most of the time it doesn't work, because for it to work you have to press "W" + M1 which is also a Light Attack forwards, yup, you probably guessed it, most of the time, instead of parrying you will just attack air, and get punished, because well-made game.

Now to the story and characters, can someone please explain to me why "Kojima is a genius", story is boring, "Make America great again", and "Memes"... Half of the characters are just cliché types from some Anime weeaboo **** we have a "Girl with tough past who became killer because world is cruel", we got some philosophy dude who no-one gives a **** about because he comes in to say his monolog and dies after boss battle, and of course he sounds smart just because everyone except him are complete idiots with 12-years old personalities. Jetstream Sam, is he that good? He is ok, typical "cool" guy who everyone will like because he is "bad guy" but actually, a "good guy" and he is like has this deep "ideals crisis" so a bunch of edgy teens will relate to him. But does he deserve all the attention he got, no. And how could we forget about Senator MakeAmericaGreatAgain Armstrong, who... could've been an interesting villain but was turned into some freak with ideals and goals of 12-years old who just discovered politics and tries to act cool and mature by saying some cliché villain phases so that our hero can sound rational and smart compared to him.

So summing it all up we have, a Slasher with terrible battle system that could've been good, but was used incorrectly, awful camera IN A SLASHER that has a core mechanic that RELIES ON CAMERA, we got boring story and characters. Why is this game became so popular, because 12-years olds who make memes with "Bloodshed" and other mediocre boss themes from this... "game"...

Should you give it a try after all the hype it got all of a sudden in 2022? 50/50 since It is terrible on PC for sure, but maybe with controller or on console it will give you better experience, main problem for me was camera, maybe with controller it will be less noticeable and somewhat playable, but if all you have is mouse and keyboard, don't, just don't.

Not only does this game go up to just 1080p as I've heard, it's not real 1080p, it's up-scaled 720p, so if you're expecting that you could max out the game just like any PC game, you will not. 1080p looks choppy because it is stretched 720p to fit a 1920x1080 resolution, and you will have two big black bars at the bottom and on to the right of your screen, the image does not cover theNot only does this game go up to just 1080p as I've heard, it's not real 1080p, it's up-scaled 720p, so if you're expecting that you could max out the game just like any PC game, you will not. 1080p looks choppy because it is stretched 720p to fit a 1920x1080 resolution, and you will have two big black bars at the bottom and on to the right of your screen, the image does not cover the whole monitor, because it is console 1080p meant for TVs not the full 1920x1080 pixels for a computer monitor!!!! Not at all like the earlier versions of Metal Gear (I particularly enjoyed Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeros even if it was a bit short. The side missions made it worthwhile). But this Metal Gear...I say bypass it! I spent my money, take my advice. Don't spend yours. Expand

Camera automatically steers away from the enemies to show you low-res textures on the wall (even when I manually control camera with my mouse, it still screws me over because returning the camera back onto the enemy takes time in which enemy delivers the blow). Camera has negative acceleration for no reason whatsoever.

Parrying mechanic completely counter-intuitive. It requires conscious effort to wait for attack and then release direction keys, press them again and press attack button to parry, which can't be performed by reflexes and breaks the flow of the game.
What made me drop this game is difficulty spike at blade wolf and complete lack of checkpoints in that fight on top of that.
Then, blade mode. Why do I have to use WASD to aim? Well, because with gamepads you can't use right stick and attack at the same time. BUT I'M PLAYING ON PC WITH A KEYBOARD AND MOUSE.
This game screws over so many important details that it negates anything good that there is about it.

Don't buy this game. Controls sucks long time, scenario is boring, too much cut-scenes, fighting is boring, graphics are not so good, music is boring, generally it is a mix up of dmc, with prince of persia, written by a 10 years old boy. Sure it is a Japanese hack n slash, but from the worst ever.

It might be unpolished, but it still is a gem among slashers, especially on a platform that lacks this kind of game. [03/2014, p.72]
