There are plenty of contenders for FPS game time these days and while some may try and add new features or unique gameplay dynamics, Metal Eden takes a look back at what made the classics great and basically just combines all the best features and bundles them into a beautifully realised sci fi world in a way that feels new but also familiar. A brilliant combination of the old and the new. Well worth grabbing and having a play for those of us “Boomers” and for the younger gamers alike.

Fast-paced story shooter that combines thrilling battles in slightly monotonous levels with a cool sci-fi atmosphere.

METAL EDEN is an artistic achievement. The sci-fi game impresses with stunning visual direction and masterful audio design, and the soundtrack by Sonic Mayhem delivers a pulse-pounding experience. Although the combat mechanics borrow heavily from genre staples, the concentrated 6-hour campaign respects players' time and compensates with style and artistic intention. The result is a solid, if familiar, sci-fi FPS that punches above its weight class.

METAL EDEN is a satisfyingly fast paced slaughter as you glide through the air and tear out the hearts of your enemies. With the varied weaponry at the Hyper Unit’s disposal, you’ll certainly have a blast rescuing the citizens of Moebius from the cryptic engineers, even if the conclusion comes quickly.

Reikon Games mixed Doom with Ghostrunner, added a pinch of Titanfall 2 and Metroid Prime, and shook it all up to create a unique and delicious cocktail. Now that's what I call a surprise!

Metal Eden is free of mission creep, focusing on refined movement, breakneck speed and punchy combat. It does those things well, embedded in an interesting fiction and shiny cyberpunk environments. A few objectives and systems aren’t always clear, and the game’s linear design and rigid mission structure could use some breathing room, as it starts to feel a bit repetitive. All in all, Metal Eden is a fun, fast and furious sci-fi shooter and will definitely appeal to fans of the genre.

Metal Eden delivers a fast-paced, polished experience that blends elements from DOOM and Ghostrunner. While its narrative is secondary, the intense gameplay makes it an exhilarating ride. [Recommended]
