Crystal Dynamics could have done a few things better, but an impressive campaign and a lot of fan love make the title a successful adventure in the world of Marvel that I don't want to do without.

Marvel's Avengers is a very entertaining game that makes great use of its characters. The PC version gave me some problems and many others are having similar issues, but it's an enjoyable time with a lot of value.

An excellent campaign diminished by the intrusion of the game’s multiplayer elements. Some peculiar bugs and sloppy proof-reading can pull you out of the experience but enjoyable combat and an excellent take on some Marvel staples make for an overall fun but grindy core gameplay loop.

With a great campaign, and engaging (albeit repetitive) multiplayer, Marvel’s Avengers is a fun title with cosmetic-only games as a service components bolted onto it. The innumerable bugs hide what could be an amazing and ever-expanding universe -- I just hope the team at SquareEnix is up to the challenge. I want to “do this all day”...but right now we are in the “you hope for the best and make do with what you get” stage.

Marvel's Avengers could have been a much better game if Crystal Dynamics had relied more on its own strengths instead of emulating mainstream trends.

Playing Marvel's Avengers is just like chewing gum, it tastes sweet at the beginning but plain in the end. The story of the campaign is fun and the superheroes are vivid. But the repetitive missions, worthless loots, and tons of bugs will eventually let you down.

Marvel's Avengers is an uneven package. A good single-player campaign, held back by a lacklustre live service multiplayer segment.

A great campaign and excellent gameplay can’t keep Marvel’s Avengers from feeling like lost potential. Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix seem to have big plans for the game, but right now the multiplayer-focused Avengers Initiative mode feels nothing more than a monotonous, boring old grind.

On the whole, I've enjoyed my time with Marvel's Avengers, and if Crystal Dynamics can deal with the technical issues plaguing the game, I'm looking forward to spending time mastering the combat styles of all the characters and exploring the expansions of its story the live game has set up. At times, Marvel's Avengers struggles to unify a thoughtful story focus with a more momentum-based, action-heavy live game system--but both have their good qualities. As with Bruce Banner and the Hulk, it'll be worth sticking with Marvel's Avengers to see how it might reconcile the two halves of its personality in the future to make something even better.

Marvel's Avengers has a great main campaign accompanied by great potential, but in the end it is overshadowed by technical errors and an unnecessary GaaS section.

A range of technical issues are holding it back at launch, but a combination of satisfying combat and likable characters has delivered the foundation of an excellent superhero game.

There are times when Marvel's Avengers shines in all its glory, be it introspective sequences, small but delicious lines, or absolutely spectacular scenes. The problems of the game are quite clear, but we must keep in mind that in a few months this game could tell us a different story.

Every looter struggles in the early days, and it would be naive think a studio that's never made a game of this type before would nail it right out of the gate. That being said, it's already in way better shape than I ever expected it to be at launch, and, most critically, the combat — particularly in multiplayer — is an absolute blast. I'm hopeful, and I'll be sticking around to see where things go from here.

A well-told campaign and story do their best to mask a rather scrawny service game beneath.

As a standalone, single player adventure, Marvel’s Avengers is a great experience that is well worth it for major fans of the Marvel universe, Movies and all. However, the majority of endgame content suffers from repetitive and uninspired missions, making the progress from vigilante to superhero a boring task. Though the promise of free post-launch content for 2 years is enticing for even the most hardcore and dedicated Marvel fans.

The Avengers deliver great action and motivating character development, but also plenty technical issues, while it sadly feels unfinished in terms of content.

As a whole, the game is interesting, thanks to a (too?) complete customization system and complementary superheroes. On the other hand, the player often finds himself confronted with awkward choices and great redundancy synonymous with repetitive missions... Although Crystal Dynamics has, unlike BioWare with Anthem, avoided the trap of unbalanced loot, the game remains, as it is, simply attractive if not essential.

Marvel's Avengers has a lot of good parts, a lot of indifferent ones, and an overall lack of direction. [Issue#351, p.90]

A superhero game where heroes are quite fragile, Marvel’s Avengers is constantly in doubt of where it wants to go and ends up arriving nowhere.

Marvel's Avengers is a cinematic action game featuring Black Widow, Captain America, Iron Man, and other popular superheroes. It's packed with cool, customizable loot and punchable bad guys, but the action drags.

Avengers is aimed at the most naive Marvel fans willing to absolve their idols of all their sins for a chance to stand next to Captain America or Iron Man — even for just a minute. So yes, fans like Kamala Khan are the perfect target audience for this sort of drivel. Ironically, she’s also the central character of the story.

    It's full of microtransactions
The game is really clunky, feels really unpolished
The story is shallow and borderline pathetic
The combat is really boring, you smash the same button over and over

See youtube reviews, see some gameplay and you'll see what I mean. This game is awful, it's just a cash grabber.

PC storyline. Poor pc port with graphics locked at 60Hz. Played for 1 hour and returned back to steam. First time I ever returned a game.

Optimization is absolutely terrible. Plot and dialoges are interesting for first two hours but then become boring too. Playing all characters feels alike. There is no uniqueness in them. I could give this game 3 out of 10 for funcervice, but this full price game has indecent a lot of microtransactions. Full Review »
