    This game is mediocre at best. The enemy AI is very bad and some of the enemies act like they are blind.
    I dont understand why they used that poor idea of a 60s veteran that came back to New Orleans and became a "mafia" member. The story is repetitive and looks like something made in a hurry, many games have similar storylines, so this game story is not enjoyable.
    I should mention that    This game is mediocre at best. The enemy AI is very bad and some of the enemies act like they are blind.
    I dont understand why they used that poor idea of a 60s veteran that came back to New Orleans and became a "mafia" member. The story is repetitive and looks like something made in a hurry, many games have similar storylines, so this game story is not enjoyable.
    I should mention that the missions are boring and repetitive, even some places are very similar and all you do is kill guy after guy, it becomes very action-centered and frustrating because of the lack of variety and the lack of ideas of the developers.
    The main character is boring and bland, he lacks personality and the npcs are not better, they behave like dumb robots. This game is also poorly optimized for PC, The driving mechanics are good but they are very unrealistic because when you hit other vehicles they act like a ramp instead of making your car bump.

    - Painful AI, some enemies do not react to your presence.

    Booooooooring repetitive missions just to extend the absolute lamest story ever upto 20 hours and then gets you stuck on a glitch. 110% would never touch another game in this series

    The story wasn't as deep as the Mafia II. The gameplay was repetitive. Also, the bugs in this game were really making you annoyed. I couldn't enjoy this game much. 41hrs on record.

    They tried. But it surprised me I expected utter **** and it wasnt that bad it even had its moments but still its plain and boring, still gunplay wasnt that bad it was enjoyable even if it was simple as hell, driving was nice and story was just ok. Its repetitive nature brings it all down and discourage you from finishing it.

    Where Mafia 3 stands out the most is in its mature story telling. It's rare to see a AAA game that deals with such heavy political themes as racism in 1960's american south. They're present in both story and gameplay, where you get a certain treatment by cops and other NPC's. It's mostly done pretty well, considering that in this day and age where many agressive ideologically driven gaming industry and media pundits demand games to be preachy with ''progressive'' themes and ask for objectivity to be thrown out of the window for their bias confirmation. Mafia 3, for the most part, handles the strong political themes with a balance, if only with few times when they feel like they're being too heavy handed. The core story aspect is based around vengeance, and it's pretty satisfying to take down the mob one bit at a time. The documentary styled cinematic narrative aspect felt really well done aswell, as the game delivers the story with real time events and from a future perspective, where certain characters retell their stories from times, when you as Lincoln, were on your revenge path during the game.

    Gameplay wise Mafia 3 is a rather mixed bag. It involves quite a lot of repetition, doing same objectives over and over to advance the plot. Though, with the game being more in line with something like GTA, it can be tolerable, for me as a GTA fan atleast. Gunplay is somewhat fun, though the gun sound effects are quite lacking and dont deliver that satisfying ooomph. Driving takes up a lot of gameplay as the game pushes you to go from one point to another, i can say that i atleast appreciate that the driving model was made to somewhat resemble how the cars of the 60's handled, with heavy steering and weighty feeling during cornering. However it works best for slow to moderately fast cars, the supercar car types at high speed really dont feel satisfying to drive, with a feeling that the driving physics are almost falling apart. I'm glad that Hangar 13 kept the collection of Playboy magazines in the game, 1960's had some mighty fine ladies. Another positive is the soundtrack, Take Two has licensed some really nice music for the game to enhance the recreation of the time period.

    Taking over districts by bringing down the members of mafia's chain of command and taking over their businesses one by one was pretty satisfying, and the subplots of each of the underbosses were unique and pretty interesting. Well, maybe apart from the fact that the game doesnt give you a choice in whether to spare or kill the underbosses, as most of them you're being forced to kill, while the lives of a couple of them you're forced to spare. Satisfying aswell was the mechanic in how you need to assign the districts to one of your own of the 3 underbosses, that you recruit during the game, the fact that they can turn on you, if you dont give them districts to run, was a bold move aswell, though i managed to keep all 3 happy. I was happy to see Vito coming back and having him as my underboss, at times i wished you could play as him instead, as i really liked him in Mafia 2. Lincoln himself isnt bad either, he's a likeable, bad arse force of nature.

    The game world, that consists of New Bordeaux city and the bayou swamp lands, is quite well made, with nice attention to details and successfully give you that 1960's american southern vibe and atmosphere, but from a gameplay standpoint, the world really lacks when it comes to things to do in it, there is little incentive to keep playing Mafia 3 after you finish the story, as the game world doesnt come close to the sand box freedom and fun that GTA open worlds offer.

    In it's latest build the game runs fairly well and isnt as buggy as in the launch period. Though they haven't changed how weird the skybox looks and the unnatural looking and feeling shift from clear weather to rainy one still remains.    … Expand

    Well clearly this review is going to be the black sheep... but I really enjoyed Mafia 3! So much so, that I even bought all 3 of the DLC's that were released. I can understand why people became frustrated with this game as it can be very repetitive, buggy, and the AI can be really really dumb at times, but overall I thought it was great fun. Good levelling up system keeps you engaged withWell clearly this review is going to be the black sheep... but I really enjoyed Mafia 3! I thought the storyline was very engaging and the soundtrack is brilliant. I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this, especially as I read such negative reviews beforehand.     Picked this up for the PS4 on some sale a month or three back and finally got around to playing it. What a waste. You've got a great script. You've got some really great characters. You've got a great city and surrounding areas to play in. Driving around is fun. But

    I mean, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Once you do, I don't remember, maybe the 2nd or 3rd mission in the game, every other mission is exactly like that. How do you have such great characters, and such a great setting, and absolutely zero creativity when it comes to missions?

    Minor nits? The music. Why can't I crank the music up separate from everything else? Why is the music forced to be the same volume as the screeching tires, or the dialog?

    Why can't I save a car? Not far along to see if Burke can enhance my car, but it's kinda irrelevent as I can't seem to save a car anywhere. Yeah, google might help here. But if I need google to explain gameplay then you've failed.    … Expand

This game has a big problem regarding using Ubisoft f**k method I mean go and kill this gang, then again and over and over and over. After 4-5 times of this sh**t you has good mision with some cutscene. And then again. If you like game like latest farcry then this game maybe will be ok for you.     Mafia III is like a bad mix of Ubisoft grind and GTA V game mechanics. Mafia I was better in almost every way. It even makes Mafia II look good.
    What a waste for such an outstanding soundtrack.

I felt like I was playing with a strobo light pointed on my face, so I definitely recommend epileptic people not to play it. Nevertheless, I like the fact that you can literally smell the 60’s. Unless people don’t disappear while you’re looking them, you can see how the streets are full of life, lights and colours. You can hear people discussing in bars and along the street, so you’ve always the impression of looking at something alive. There are even appropriate collectibles for the setting, which can be magazines like Playboy or Hot Rod, music albums and communist propaganda manifests. The soundtrack is beautiful and perfect for the setting. The whole world is well defined and rich of particulars, but the defects that I previously said ruin a big part of all this. The gameplay is funny but nothing special. The driving isn’t too bad, but the pointing system is so horrible that I had to activate many aids. Moreover, the fact that you’re constricted to repeat many times the same actions can make the game repetitive after a while. The plot is very poor and simple, but I didn’t expect more from a game that tells about mafia. In the end i gave a rating of 7 just because I loved too much the other chapters and because I think that a rating of 3.6 is too low. I didn’t give more because it would have been just too much for this game. I didn’t play any dlc but I hope they’re better than that.… Expand

    As a person who values story, context and the general feel of the mood in the game I would say story ended as soon as you got released in to the open world to help your future crew. Story started again during the end and that was it.     actually the best game i have ever played. I really enjoy the story, gameplay should be better, but it is still funny. Riding is funny too. And the best thing about this game is soundtrack. I enjoy every song in this game. And DLC Sign of times is funny too.

    The game left a good impression. Writers and artists have done great job, as well as actors who played the main characters (+ awesome soundtrack), but the game designers disappointed. In general I enjoyed the game and I hope see the Mafia 4.

    -gameplay gets boring after the first 3 hours, cause you have to repeat the same kinda side missions to get into the real things

    The game completely disappointed me. Awful shooting physics. Awful physics of cars. The story of how Lincoln Clay kills everyone in its path. This is not like a real story! In this game, Lincoln Clay in the role of Rambo brings everyone. this is not realistic. I will play Mafia 2 with great pleasure. Part 3 completely disappointed me.

Отличная, порой даже душещипательная история, жизнь определённых слоёв общества показана неплохо, мотивация главного героя порой хромает, но выражена довольно понятно. В общем ни сюжет, ни мотивация героев у меня не вызвали негатива.
    Графика и техническая сторона тоже не вызвали, НО... не встретив за всю игру ни одного бага (было лишь пара вылетов на рабочий стол) я решил, что люди просто клевещут на игру. Потом у знакомых я всё таки увидел эти баги... баг на беге и багом погонял. И оружие пропадало и люди в небо улетали и машины по воде ездили... у меня такого не было, поэтому занижать оценку с моей стороны глупо. Физика в игре, конечно же, не на высоте. Не реалистично, можно сказать, но игра и не претендует на симулятор реальной жизни.
    Для меня эта игра очень взрослая, на уровне второй части, только более современная и на твёрдые семь баллов. И ни балом меньше.    … Expand

    V knihovně by neměla chybět.
    Takových her je málo díky složitosti a proto hodně podporuju tento žanr .
    Díky malé konkurency , když nepočítám odpady jako např. Saints Row tak dávám

    The story itself is really strong, taking place in a fictional kind of New Orleans during the Vietnam war and one the most violent decades in history. Touching subject matter like; Sex, Drug wars, Racism, to    Mafia III could have been a great game, it has a huge potencial on it but it has de misfortune of not being well executed and the end product looks and plays like a rushed product.
    The story itself is really strong, taking place in a fictional kind of New Orleans during the Vietnam war and one the most violent decades in history. Touching subject matter like; Sex, Drug wars, Racism, to name a few, that's a good start point for a story, like i mention, the story is strong and dark... better than the previous games. The ending... not so good.
    The gameplay is boring, the game is a third person shooter, giving the player the freedom to explore the city and do the missions at his own time. The game is split in the main story missions and side missions that will reward you with affiliate favors and earn more money. Now... aside of that, the mission design is so repetitive that later turn to not bee engaging anymore, the missions goes from steal something, or kill someone, interrogate someone and that's all... with shooting more mobs in your way. In the first hour you have taste all what the game has to offer. Playing this game in one sit doing both; the main missions and side missions can take you like 45 hrs to beat (kinda), and like i mention in 1 hr you have experience all what the game has to offer, there you have 44 hrs of the same mission design all over and over again. whit a small addition that you can explore the city to find collectibles like: Hot Rood magazine, Playboy magazine, album covers and Vargas paintings, to keep the game a bit more "interesting"
    Visually the game it's "ok" the cutscenes looks beautiful thus because they are pre-rendered, but the actual game graphics are "ok" for a next gen game.
    One last thing to keep on mind, the game has tons of graphic glitches and some other technical issues, some times some missions will not start at all or some important NPC'S will not react at you and will cause to reload the last checkpoint so they can work. ohh my...
    There's people who said that this game runs badly in every system... for some people. During my 45 hrs i had a smooth frame without any drop (so... i think that frame drops might happen more often with low GPUs).    … Expand

    A GTA-style game that fails to engage on virtually all fronts. Mafia 3 is a cliched, boring, non-creative and poorly executed entry to the franchise. It's also annoyingly unoptimized for a 2016 game and that says a lot.

    This doesn't even feel iike a Mafia game. Luckily I didn't end up getting this when it first came out and waited until playstation gave it out for free as a 'free game of the month'.     Don't think I've played a more boring open-world game before.. It's especially sad when it comes to such a lineage as Mafia series. There's nothing that holds you in the game's world for more than half an hour, after which you understand how things work here and get the idea that there won't be much of a difference from mission to mission after from that point onwards. The game has more beautiful tracks and soundtrack of the games, however, as the repetitive memories, in addition to the bugs and existing flaws, which have hampered the experience of the game in its launch period. With over 200hrs played on Steam, I can tell you a bit about it.

    Maybe if the game was released with all the dlc's and optimizations not only on the consoles, but also on the PC's, the third game in the series would have a greater acceptance of the public; And because of the story and its soundtrack, I end up playing countless times for the FUN that the game has brought.     As for my review, I LOVED playing this game. Yes, some of the game-play was a little repetitive, but the story. The story in this game was wonderful and I was completely taken in by it. I really connected with Clay and while the game was a little rough around the edges, that didn't actually take away from it actual enjoyment.

    Many people complained about not having fast-travel. Why would you want to fast travel when you can run around, steal any vehicle, and just drive? It's one of the most fun parts of the game. The soundtrack was also spectacular and cemented you into the era and location.

    After more than a year they still haven't fixed the performance issues this port has. That would be acceptable if the game looked half decent graphics wise. The grapics looks low res and upscalled even at max settings.
    Gameplay and story are pretty repetitive.
    Mafia 1 was the best and 2 wasn't bad at all either but this one is just another money grab attempt from a AAA game publisher.

    The missions are great, sure the theme can get repetitive but let's be serious.. it's realistic? If you were taking over an entire city you would have to go through endless shoot outs and kill hundreds of mobsters and that's what happens and not once did I think "oh damn I have to kill more guys". Every time I thought where's my Blackburn FAF-33 and god damn tac vest I have some mobsters to kill, arms dealer get over here pronto!
    The audio and music is awesome, before this game I had hardly listened to 60s - 70s rock and blues, now I'm a huge fan.
    The scanned playboys are awesome!? Genuine vintage playboy in HD!?

    The wishlist:
    More gore would be nice, I would love to see some body parts get blown off when I unload a shotgun point blank.
    When killing key story characters like mob bosses etc, instead of the boss being killed in the cut scene, I would like the boss just to be put on his knees in the cut scene, and then switch back to player controlled Lincoln to allow me to put the chrome to his dome and pull the trigger myself (or throw him out a window etc, it should be my decision).

    DIY fixes:
    Download ReShade and a decent preset to make the graphics looks awesome and I'm playing with everything on low because I have a GTX 750 Ti and i5-2500k, still looks great, getting around 40-50 FPS and it is smooth enough for me.

    Otherwise this game is great, I have no idea what all these other reviews are comparing it to? It's a great simple action adventure shooter.    … Expand

    I give MAFIA III 7 out of 10 only because of the lack of optimization in certain points like cutscens and when walking inside apartements where you can a ton of screan tearing. Also in some areas where the are lots of trees and shadows the fps would drop down to 40 for no reason at all. Also I spent so much time trying to fix the controller keys since they were not mapped at all.     This game is the ugly child of Mafia II and Watch Dogs 1. Game has a feeling of a Watch Dogs mod for Mafia II, which performs so much worse in every possible way. Your best alternative would be Mafia II, if you like nostalgia = definitely Mafia 1. Even The Godfather 1 is far better than this garbage. DO NOT BUY.

    The story is good the first 3 hours, just long enough for you to override the 2h refund limit on steam. After the first 3 hours, comes 20 hours of endless repetative fetch quests and killing everyone quests. You can divide those 20 hours in 3 parts:
    1. Take over this place and kill everyone there
    2. Follow and kill him/her, if he enters a car, kill him through a car chase 3. Burn down    The story is good the first 3 hours, just long enough for you to override the 2h refund limit on steam. After the first 3 hours, comes 20 hours of endless repetative fetch quests and killing everyone quests. You can divide those 20 hours in 3 parts:
    1. Take over this place and kill everyone there

    This is basically Mafia 3, the sad thing is, the first 3 and the last 2 hours are very good, with very good voice acting and AWESOME music/soundtrack. On Pc however, it runs and looks like **** I installed SweetFX with blur remover and reshade just to get rid of the orange and all the blur. Still, I get 40fps on medium (gtx 970) and it crashes constantly.

    This is the biggest disappointment of 2016, therefore I will give it a 5/10 just because the story and the music is top notch!    … Expand

    This whole south thing is just not what I think of when I think Mafia. Where are the Italians? There is no Mafia vibe in this. The story is so uninteresting and long winded. The game play is very repetitive without the variety of previous Mafia games. Unlike the first two, the music in this one sucks. I have never been a fan of the 60s music. In many ways the graphics looks dated and have a cheaper feel compared to Mafia II, which I replayed recently.

    Again, unlike the previous two, the story is so dull that there is nothing keeping me interested to continue playing. I have played for about 5 hours (experiencing several crashes) and I don't thing I am going to continue. Overall it doesn't seem like the same love and care went into this one compared to the previous two. No save on demand?! This is going backwards.

    The Mafia series has always been ahead on game play, graphics, and story telling when compared to the GTA series. I can't say the same thing about this third incarnation that brings nothing new to the table. GTA5 was a lot better and came last year.    … Expand

BUT, the PC port is terrible, playing with a GTX 1070 and an i5 6600K, the game very often dips down and stutters, which makes it more difficult to play. This game definitely has it's charms though. The music is often used really well, the voice acting is fantastic, and you can collect porn! I really don't think this gameAlright. This game is fun. Very fun. Great story and good graphics. Many things were done well here and    I loved both Mafia games. Even though the Mafia II was mediocre game play wise, it had absolutely top notch atmosphere, attention to detail, great graphics, good story and characters and many more.

    Mafia III lost a bit of that atmosphere and detail to have MORE game play. But it doesn't mean it's better. It's just more repetitive. It's such a pity. Many things were done well here and the game doesn't deserve that low userscore at all, but it's a wasted potential.

    Pros:
    - Story is good, presented pretty uniquely for an open world game.
    - Some characters are pretty well written.
    - Very well designed city and the feel of the times.
    - Nice shooting and driving.
    - Good graphic effects sometimes (rain, lighting at night)
    - Facial animation and acting
    - The idea for core game play mechanics

    Cons:
    - Core game play is repetitive and boring after first districts
    - Bosses don't feel very unique, nor do the encounters with them (apart from 2 or 3)
    - Washed out colors, blurry graphics.
    - Cops do literally nothing. Speed limits don't exist.
    - Generally the game play is a mess. It has good ideas and parts, but things don't add up.
    - Much less attention to detail
    - A lot of bugs.

    The user reviews are right, this game is still buggy, the missions are repetitive and poorly designed. Much of the user friendly feature from newer games are not here, there's no fast travel. Most missions do not have check poitns, so you spent 10 mins trying to steathly kill every cop and steal the car, but you get killed by the hit squad when driving the car back. Guess what? The main character is not the typical mother-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, he's a good character. Vito turned in an ordinary bandit, Vito from Mafia 2 there is nothing left. The story we are given after a typical yubisoft routine. After a hard day to relax by performing a dull job, after which to obtain the excellent story missions, but objectively it's complete crap. Mafia 3 should consist only of the topical tasks, which is really nice. Although, we all knew it would be open world for open world with a lot of similar missions, the developers have fed us gameplay video. You're first drawn, the gameplay is good, but then I get tired. In the game, besides the story missions and clips, happy music but it does not merit developers, and musicians of the time. The machines are driven by normal, I on the realism went well. Graphics are so-so, not the level of 2016, especially the sky, this is the most miserable in the sky games!
    The finale of the game is good, proper. There even 2 endings. After passing you can feel satisfaction, although the passage you were doing some stuff. This is not a Mafia, this is a typical game in the open world. WD 2 a definite better. To make the game worse not work for anybody. IT'S NOT MAFIA.    … Expand

    A horrible PC port, repetitive gameplay and bad graphics. So why am I still giving this game a 6? Because the game down to its core is still a Mafia game (storywise). The world is also very well created even though the graphics don't serve it well. The best part about the game is the music. This game has gotten me into 60's and 70's rock. So thank you Hangar 17!

    I found this game to be one of my favorites of all time. The story, missions, personalities, acting, beautiful and big world, driving late 60's American cars, combat. Yes, I really enjoyed the game. By the time I was playing, most of the bugs were patched. I could see some in rare occasions, but they didn't bother me that much. I played it at around 75 FPS. And the game was long, 37 hoursI found this game to be one of my favorites of all time. The story, missions, personalities, acting, beautiful and big world, driving late 60's American cars, combat. Yes, I really enjoyed the game. By the time I was playing, most of the bugs were patched. I could see some in rare occasions, but they didn't bother me that much. I played it at around 75 FPS. And the game was long, 37 hours did it take me to get trough the main Story. On the other hand, I was disappointed in Just Cause, it being to short and repetitive. I always buy games when the price has dropped a bit, and in this occasion I think it was a good idea, with the game having a lot of issues on release.     Story, atmosphere, characters are awesome. Even gameplay is good. But repetitive missions in the middle game are barely standing. OMG. It was horrible experience (I played them just to finish game). They better should make shorter game and it would totaly worked out.

    There are too many glitches. I'm disappointed. Developers made completely new style of 60th. I loved Mafia 1, it was al capone's time. Unfortunately, Mafia 3 and Mafia 1 are absolutely different games.

    This is game about a complexed racial afro shooting and burning and running over innocent white females and men. Its a game made with hate in mind. Shame it has a real good soundtrack, but i wont let my kids play it. It has NOTHING to do with a "Mafia" game, just the name.

    I don't think this is a bad game visually or even story wise, but the gameplay is repetitive and that's what really killed it for me. Besides for the very beginning mission, every mission from then on was basically the same. A very, "rinse and repeat" kind of game.

    The next issue is gameplay - it's disjointed from the story and story telling it feels almost like you are doing fetch side quests in MMO. It's utterly repetitive.

    Now boss kill missions are a bit more diverse and are more connected to storytelling, but that's frankly not enough.

    Moving next to a story itself - ideologically it's not bad, but it's not developed enough, it's very straight forward, it lacks plot twists and bit of expansion into more directions. Actually it's just enough because very good narrative and story telling compensates a lot for rather weak plot development.. But with a bit of imagination, more connected gameplay this story could have been pretty solid.

    The areas where Mafia 3 delivers is already mentioned story telling, characters (tho not all of them) and music. Soundracks are really fabulous and they picked most memorable tracks of that time period - I really loved the music in this game. Characters are great - Lincoln and especially Donovan are brilliant, I think these two alone (combined with great voice acting) carried this game out from red rating for me - father James while might appear a bit strange - I thing thematically fits very well here and plays important role in enlightening what kind of story this game is trying to tell. Secondary characters (villains) are also pretty good, they could bring more light on them, but since 80% of gameplay was unrelated - there was no time for it. Finally a bit disappointing are your assets - they have interesting background and good cast, but they stay in the shadow completely thru all of the game - they should have been incorporated more into the game and the story.

    Overall the ending is pretty satisfying as such. It basically tests if you learned something from this story or not (it has 3 major endings, of which one splits into three possible sub-outcomes).

    Buggy game. Unimpressive graphics and gameplay. Extremely repetitive and doesn't feel like they were creative at all. The plot started off eerily similar to GTAV and you spend the rest of the game repeatedly shooting a warehouse of people over and over until you beat the game. Pretty boring, couldn't even finish the game.

    mafia 3 has its issues and bugs, most of which draw a laugh from me and a few moments were it cost me a mission, its a decent game maybe worth buying if on sale, but nothing ground breaking here just a poor mans GTA.

    Game sadly feels like an unfinished product. A lot of technical difficulties, slighlty outdated graphics and more technical problems. Story on the other hand is good, but after an hour or two game got extremely repetetive, to the point of being a chore, not a fun experience

    Mafia III isn’t necessarily a bad game, but it is definitely not a true heir to the Mafia series. The story is rich and the gameplay is satisfying (although it’s nothing special), but having played the previous games in the series (especially the first one), I never felt like I was playing a Mafia game.
