    In the end, this remake took me back to those days. Thanks to the hangars they were able to do it.

    The original one was better. The remastered one has good graphic but not a better experience than the original one.

    All respects to the original, keeping graphics aside this remake also gave an extra depths to the characters with their dialogues and expressions. It's not every day I can say that a video game made me emotional in the end but this one did. Although I liked their choice of keeping limited weapon choice, firing mechanics could have been improved

    I'm positively chuffed. Sure it's basically an interactive movie but it's so completely, wonderfully devoid of all the modern BS it melts my heart. Just driving my convertible with my buddies, listening to Luis Armstrong, busting balls, smashing cars, shooting punks in the head. No multiplayer, no MTX, no 500 collectibles to hooover up all over the map, no hamfisted references to slaveryI'm positively chuffed. Sure it's basically an interactive movie but it's so completely, wonderfully devoid of all the modern BS it melts my heart. Just driving my convertible with my buddies, listening to Luis Armstrong, busting balls, smashing cars, shooting punks in the head. No multiplayer, no MTX, no 500 collectibles to hooover up all over the map, no hamfisted references to slavery on every corner, no powerful 80 pound women throwing burly bangers left and right like ragdolls.

    Best game in 2020. You should play it. Great storyline, dialogue, characters. And driving is pretty fun and with realistic approach. And very very good soundtrack. And graphics aur damnn good like any GTA 5 and Red dead redemption 2. It will definitely will be the game of the year 2020 for me. Voice acting is great and i firtst time i though I was watching any MAFIA type of movie. I'llBest game in 2020. You should play it. Great storyline, dialogue, characters.     Сначала казалась графика шикарной, на то время ( когда игровая индустрия только развивалась), это была просто бомбическая графика, но постепенно графика казалась всё хуже и хуже.

    И вот, 25 сентября 2020-го года выходит Mafia: Definitive Edition, которая стала - игрой года, по-моему, мнению! Новая графика, новая физика, дополненный сюжет ( который прям очень входит в суть игры), всё просто супер, как я считаю!
    Физика - на отличном уровне, боевка - новая, тоже очень хорошо смотрится, стрельба - хорошая, графика - отличная, атмосфера - присутствует ( хочу даже сказать то, что в оригинале я атмосферы так и не почувствовал, скорее всего из-за пустого мира...), кат-сцены очень качественно сделаны.
    В общем мне очень понравился ремейк 1-й части, я так долго его ждал и не прогадал с успехом! Всем рекомендую, это лучшее за последние года!
    Моя оценка 10 заслуженных баллов из 10!

    Back in 2002, Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven came out and won my heart!
    At first it seemed gorgeous, at that time (when the gaming industry was just developing), it was just wonderful graphics, but gradually it seemed worse and worse.
    And now, on September 25, 2020, Mafia: Definitive Edition is released, which has become the game of the year, in my opinion, in my opinion! New graphics, new physics, augmented storyline (which is very much the essence of the game), everything is just superb, in my opinion!
    The physics is at an excellent level, the combat is new, it also looks very good, the shooting is good, the graphics are excellent, the atmosphere is present (I even want to say that I never felt the atmosphere in the original, most likely because of the empty world. ..), cut-scenes are very well done.
    In general, I really liked the remake of the 1st part, I waited for it for so long and did not lose it with success! I recommend it to everyone, this is the best in recent years!
    Thanks to Hangar 13 studio, which now deserves my trust.

    Isn't faithful to the original. Main characters are completely changed along with major plot points. Only a few songs actually return from the original soundtrack which is very disappointing. The freedom of the original level designs are long gone and replaced with linear shooting galleries. The checkpoint system is a disaster. It's also incredibly sad how they removed riding on trains and trolley cars. Even the original 2002 game had that. I just think it goes to show that the game needed more time in the oven. They tried being more faithful by adding in classic mode which is a good mode, but it was just little too late. On a good note the graphics are amazing. The game can be fun at times, especially the Hotel Corleone mission (one of the few missions that actually saw an improvement.) Overall, I can't see myself playing this for a year much less 18 years like I have the original. I think the biggest error was not consulting the original director. This game left me feeling uneasy, and made me feel like I was playing a plagiarized product.… Expand

    Amazing graphics and atmosphere, wonderful face work and acting, beautiful soundtrack and loyalty to original, just gameplay is maybe too much arcade. This is pleasure to play!

    Это игра моего детства!!! Конечно я уже давно не ребенок, и те самые чувства не воскресить, но ремейку, удалось затронуть те глубокие нотки, вспомнить эту историю, и посмотреть еще раз, перенестись в прошлое, но уже с передовой графикой
    В ремейк никто не верил, даже более того многие желали ему провала, я как олдфаг заявляю,ремейк удался, как же приятно и грустно почему то это пережить    Это игра моего детства!!! Какая здесь графика!! Машины нарисованы с любовью, иной раз будто она реально перед тобой стоит эта игра не без проблем, много багов, мелких недочетов, пустой режим прогулки(фриром) но эта игра может и не на 10 баллов, но она для меня одна из лучших, на все огрехи хочется просто закрыть глаза!!!     Как и ожидалось, ремейк оказался полным дерьмом. В игре убого почти что всё, от озвучки и звуков до стрельбы и анимаций. Жалею, что предзаказал игру

    If what you were looking for was a mafia 1 remake that feels like the recent mafia 2 remake, then you’re in for a treat but if you were looking for more you may be disappointed. What it does get right thought is the feel of a 1930’s american city, you will immediately feel the nostalgia growing as you weave in and out of traffic exploring this expansive city. You once again play as tommyIf what you were looking for was a mafia 1 remake that feels like the recent mafia 2 remake, then you’re in for a treat but if you were looking for more you may be disappointed. What it does get right thought is the feel of a 1930’s american city, you will immediately feel the nostalgia growing as you weave in and out of traffic exploring this expansive city. You once again play as tommy angelo in the final years of the prohibition and if you enjoyed the story of the original game, you will without a doubt enjoy the story here but this time with realistic graphics. sound effects are amazing with even smaller details like hearing the engine of your car cool down as turn it off, realistic sounding gun fire and you will get an immediate nostalgia boost from hearing the music come from the radio. the story is phenomenal as always and the comedic timing of some of the characters hits perfectly when it is needed whilst at the same time drawing you into the game’s world.

    onto the negatives. whilst the graphics of this game are impressive at times, especially in cutscenes, you will experience quite a bit of pop in when traveling at high speeds through the city and in grassy terrain. Some character models, whilst they do look amazing in cutscenes with you being able to see every hair follicle, most background NPC characters tend to look potatoey and derpy in gameplay sections looking like an assassins creed 2 remake copyright lawsuit waiting to happen. on the discussion of NPCs, enemy AI can come across as brain dead at times. constantly getting stuck behind walls in their vehicles, running out into the open as you’re opening fire on them or even running right up next to you like they thought they were invincible.

    Even with all of it’s faults, it is still an enjoyable game with a great story and a fun cast of characters. It just needed a few more weeks in the oven to iron out all of these problems before it released    … Expand

First things first; core gameplay mechanics are lame, cover system is a generic dull and boring, standard. Car mechanics, those hyper realistic -manual/automatic gear- combined with responsive detailed physics are gone. First things first; core gameplay mechanics are lame, cover system is a generic dull and boring, standard. Police? even in the classic mode is nothing compared to fun the pain in the ass (in the good sense) that was in the original one, chases are reduced to S. Secondary Lucas Bertone missions gone. Lockpicking minigame gone. The playground to shootouts are this generic boxes to find cover that sets the mood away, always a marker telling you what to do. Then there is this narrative all over the place, some dialogues are good, most of them cheesy and make no sense to the character depth. Although they tried to gave more story to characters they end up making desicions because of this new adjustments that don't adhere. The carefully crafted narrative missions like Visiting Rich People or Moonlighting are completely butchered and the developers didn't got it right. This game is mediocre and it reaches this status because of the excellent blueprint the original one provides. For those who just want a "meh game"that will be forgotten in 5 months this is your game. Lucky ones that didn't have this appreciation to the original one. The original hero was a simple guy, communicated in a simple way, behaved nobly. We all fell in love with him for that. In the new version - another plastic cool guy. And the most important thing. Graphics, mechanics, physics are all secondary. All people will endure, glitches, some bugs, flaws ... But you broke nostalgia. Plot. Characters. Music. Sounds ..... Mediocre.… Expand

    This is a full-fledged, honest to God remake. Some changes to the story will upset hardcore fans, but I think this approach is absolutely justified. Even though this remake is not as amazing as new versions of Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7, it’s still a worthy update.

    The main difference between the remake and the original game is that the latter was outstanding for its time, while the Definitive Edition is “merely” good. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. What’s crucial here is the fact that Hangar 13 approached the original’s narrative with proper respect and refrained from changing it too much. Mafia: Definitive Edition might not be remarkable as an open-world action game, but it still has the story worthy of the most revered gangster movies. [12/2020, p.28]

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is a remake of mixed flavours. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's great. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's awful. Mixture of aged mechanics and amazing graphics, new voices, great old story and some added, yet bad storylines, make it not such a perfect remake. But it sure is worth your time, whether you are a fan of the original or not. The moral of the story survived in all its glory, just be sure to focus your attention to the details where Mafia used to and still shines the most.
