    As always, starting with the 2nd Mafia, which is essentially the best single game, but there is a lot of content that our modders then added from the cut, BUT this game is made so quickly in a hurry that it can't even be like the original first version of the game, since most of the content and the world of freeride is missing at all! Например, как в ремейке второй мафии, - вот там физика мое почтение. Сами персонажи порой скучные и нудные, но это только мое мнение. Еще хотелось бы упомянуть про контент.. What I saw in fact was a shortened game from the original version by 40% less! The free mode didn't even give me what the original game had. Mesela geliştirilmesini beklediğimiz açık dünya gerçekten çok vasat ve boş bir halde. Sadece birkaç kısa yan görev dışında açık dünyada yapılabilecek hiç bir şey yok. Daha da geliştirilmesini beklerdim. Ve aynı şekilde orijinal oyunda nitelikli olup bu oyunda olmayan kısımlar var. Örnek olarak orijinal oyunda 'OMERTA' isimli görevdeki Frank ile Tommy'nin konuştuğu sahne gerçekten çok güzel ve çok etkileyiciydi.     Ein cooles Remake eines Klassikers. Die Story ist spannend und anspruchsvoll zugleich, die Figuren sehr komplex, das Gameplay wirkt jedoch insgesamt etwas fahrig. Das Potenzial der offenen Spielwelt wird auch nicht genutzt. Die Open World existiert nur, sie hat keinerlei Funktion (7/10).

    Pretty good remake of the 2002 classic. It's not better than the original game in any way (except for the graphics of course) but I had fun playing it.

    this isn't enough. You did a great job but this wasn't enough. You sticked to original game but this was too much. I recommend this game who wants to play mafia franchise but not worth this price.

    Great remake, it looks very good and I'm happy the plot was not changed that much. I really enjoyed playing the original game and this edition brings out memories and gives you a lot of fun. If I had to change anything I'd add possibility to save the game at any point of time (some autosave take place in a very bad moment - once I needed to play whole mission from the beginning because IGreat remake, it looks very good and I'm happy the plot was not changed that much.     As always, the 2K game studio has NOT finalized the game to the ideal of its playability in all respects. The story is cut off in many ways, freeride is an empty not accessible city just as a picture. **** for a year not one update in favor of the players..
    in 2002, this game was made many times better, in relation to this **** today..

    I did not expect that bought the game after a year, it nebylo not a single update. The story is greatly reduced, in the free ride can not use the famous streetcar and train, as it was in the 1st original game. This game is not finished until the finale and apparently it was abandoned without refinement.

    Not the biggest fan of 2k but as I consider the original one of my all time favourite games i had to try this one.
    Comparing it to all the other "remasters" popping up for old classics, this is actuall a good one.
    The story - well nothing to say here..it's a homerun. Graphics are really nice. I love the atmosphere of the city.

    This edition as DEFINITIVE EDITION, has a false name. Everything interesting has been cut from the main game. The chapter in the port was killed off as a piece not resembling the scenario of that first one at all! The city is dead, getting on the streetcar or subway train is not possible, which was glorious in part 1. In general it is a piece of not finished alpha version and abandoned as it is.

    It's a great remake of the Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven. Well-balanced gameplay and pleasant graphics give me the exact emotions, which I felt when I played the original game. The only problem is the moral of the whole story. It's absolutely different and the moral of the original Mafia game was more suitable for this narrative, as for me.

    definitely the worst of the mafia games. the game looks nice, and has SOME good voice acting, but a good amount of the voice acting is pretty bad. the combat system is awful, and the cover system barely works. driving feels downright terrible. balance of the game is just bad, it's not worth spending any money on really.

    The name of the game is fake! This is not the final edition. This is a straight-forward mini-story story on rails. There should not be Freeride in this form as it looks now. Then it would be a justified purchase with truthful information about the game and its creation.

Not self-respecting Hangar-13 at least would understand what makes the history of the MAFIA game and just made a CASTRATED puppy. What a laziness in this work, there are no patches, you can only expect from experienced modders, maybe they, like the 2nd mafia, will also revive the game.

    * No public transport, you can't ride a train or tram, can't even enter platforms.
    * Animations are ridiculously fast, to the point of looking comical. Tom enters in vehicles in 0,8 seconds, pressing RMB magically teleports a weapon in your arm - faster than your eye blink. * Empty gas stations    An awful remake, abnormally bad game.     * Crimes are reported even out in the countryside by invisible witnesses.
    * Sometimes police ignore dead bodies and only fine you for shooting people.
    * This super-stupid bump at the end of every cutscene, even if the cutscene is already overwhelmed with action.
    * Some dumb cutscenes, like one in the 15th chapter, where short-range submachine-gun shots don't wound a car driver/Morello nor do they immobilize the vehicle.
    * Horrid LODs on distant objects like buildings and vehicles.
    * Terrible AI.
    * Pop-in galore, to the point of cars and trains popping in right in front of you.
    * Textures are generally low resolution even on maxed settings. Heavy dithering. Extremely outdated graphics. No MSAA, FXAA, TAA settings in the graphics menu.
    * Sounds are generally weaker in quality than Mafia's. Lack of environmental audio. Guns sound like water guns.
    * Poor missions in Freeride Extreme that go further to unfold the crucial weaknesses of the core gameplay - the gunplay, the driving physics and the car damage model.
    * Magical concrete bushes in the countryside as an excuse to limit the ingame world.
    * No ability to kill gangsters in free ride. No gangsters driving around. No day/night cycle and money in the freeride. No ability to set the traffic and police density for the freeride.
    * Poor 1930s drift simulator. Cars of the 1930s feel like cars of the future. Mafia is ain't no Need For Speed.
    * Poor damage model on cars, smash into a wall at full speed does nothing. Cars don't bend into any shape like they did 18 years ago.
    * Devs-liars claimed this will feature an expanded story, but this game is shorter than Mafia II.
    * On classic difficulty, reload of pump-action rifles, rifles and revolvers make you lose unused ammo in the clip against any sense.
    * Soundtrack sounds like Woody Woodpecker OST. Really, beyond parody.
    * Terrible gunplay and cover system. Instead of a recoil, bullets are flying angled to the gun barrel like in CS:GO. You can't hit anyone.
    * The total absence of any bullet holes makes it even more impossible to analyze the bullet dispersion. Also, shells and clips aren't on the ground like they were 18 years ago.
    * Enemies don't stun when they suffer damage. They keep moving to cover when wounded in a leg.
    * Bullet wounds don't break off hostile melee attacks, not even for armless foes.
    * Intrusive toddler level waypoint markers telling you what to do and where to go at all times.
    * Outright horrible physics. When in the air, cars barely roll around the axises.    … Expand

    I didn't think that after a year, the game was never finished. Not introduced a unit of currency money, not expanded the story (as made it short not complete) no interaction in freeride.
    We all Mafia fans just got screwed for our money.

    It's just a parody of a feature film, but not a game like the original of 2002 and it doesn't look like it. Next, a 40% cut-out game where there is not much as in the original, well, an empty world without interaction and the metro-train gates are locked on a chain without access, and of course **** always happens at this game studio.
    This was no doubt expected as a piece of something empty.....

    This is not a game, much less a remake! These are cutscenes with a short straightforward plot, cut out and not complete according to the original game and an empty dead world without interactions with it. I'm shocked by this scam!

    If you wanted to improve the original, you had to remove the rap music from the end credits. This game conveys the spirit of the era, through music as well. Sometimes these little things ruin the whole atmosphere.

    Mafia Definitive Edition is an amazing remake of the original Mafia 1. The graphics were really amazing. The city of Lost Heaven in the 1930s is really amazing, it's alive and really breathtaking. The story, the characters, the missions were really great.9,5/10

    At one time, the first part of "Mafia" was a great game that was remembered for a long time.
    Now "Mafia: Definitive Edition" is not that interesting anymore.
    This is a good remake of a once great game.
    But I didn't have much fun playing the Definitive Edition. I didn't feel nostalgia either.
    I don't see much point in such remakes. Better to create something new and high quality.

    Mafia definitive edition pc is a real technical tour de force, on my 3070ti i was able to get 4k60fps with max settings. Story was fantastic with a great voice cast with the majority of cutscenes played out in realtime visuals. It feels alot like mafia 2 but with the visuals similar to M3. А вот что бесит так это NPS на дороге они такие тупые сил нету дорогу не уступают, водители трамвая останавливаются прямо на дороге и высаживают пассажиров тем самым не дают проехать.     Was it worth it that in the world of advanced computer technologies, to make such a masterpiece so bad that it causes outrage, and this remake was done without any desire at all. The original was made professionally with a soul and is far superior to this pathetic piece of garbage.

    yeah the game left me wanting more. the fact that the open world was restricted to a separate play with nothing to do in it was a huge letdown.
    Yeah, it was very disappointing. They changed WAY to much. Too many story points have been altered, and too many things from the original game left out.

    The world is nice, but its 'empty' with really nothing to do in it...

Side mission with Luca are gone, Ralphie practically gives us 2-3 cars the entire game. There is no free time in between the missions, it's like introduction, fast forward to action, some shooting and then boom, next mission. No side talks with Sam and Paulie, just jumping from action to action.

    In the original we were feeling the world development, as the years passed, the cars got better and you could really feel that changes in the city. Here there is practically no difference at all, not that it matters as there is not a chance to even know the city, if the mission allows driving the target is usually really close.

    So the story/characters were ready, all the devs had to was refresh the graphics and maybe even add something new to the story, but no, let's shorten the story and change it and don't even think about adding some content... If you wanted to write new story just create a new game, oh whoops, I forgot you made one, Mafia III which was utterly booring (at least the music was fine there).

    To sum up, this game is not worth the money. The graphic is good, but all else, just not worth it, and if you are a fan of the original, it's painful to play this game knowing how they ruined such good story.

    I'm pretty sure I will play original game many times again (already did like 4 times) but I doubt I will ever play definitive edition again...    … Expand

Gameplay-wise you have third person shooter with 6 guns out of which you have 3 distinct types. Fights happen in samey buildings such as cafes, warehouses, docks without much level design variety. In myI really don't understand why people sheet their pants over this game like it is some sort of game with state of the art writing. It isn't outright bad, but it isn't a masterpiece either. Gameplay-wise you have third person shooter with 6 guns out of which you have 3 distinct types. Fights happen in samey buildings such as cafes, warehouses, docks without much level design variety. In my opinion, pulling the trigger isn't fun and missions are forgettable. The only aspect of the gameplay i liked is driving. Car handles realistically and driving is enjoyable (on simulation settings). Plot is good on it's own, execution not so much. Many tonal inconsistencies and the ending is abrupt, motivation of the characters stretched so hard that shaolin monk would be jealous. I don't think i will remember even playing this game say 10 months later. Case in point that 1. improving graphics isn't always enough for a good remake 2. duckling syndrome hits hard sometimes. I do understand that for some people this was the first serious game with plot and character development, but these story and gameplay just don't stand the test of time. These were good 20 years back, when games only started dipping their toes into telling anything meaningful, not anymore though.… Expand

    Perfect passing time, passed in 1 day, did not have time to get bored. Good story, good ending. Excellent eyeliner for part 2, you can not think of a better one. In general, the game about the mafia is made with a bang, the reissue looks great and is optimized so that even on my teapot it went without lags!

    This is a full-fledged, honest to God remake. Some changes to the story will upset hardcore fans, but I think this approach is absolutely justified. Even though this remake is not as amazing as new versions of Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7, it’s still a worthy update.

    The main difference between the remake and the original game is that the latter was outstanding for its time, while the Definitive Edition is “merely” good. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. What’s crucial here is the fact that Hangar 13 approached the original’s narrative with proper respect and refrained from changing it too much. Mafia: Definitive Edition might not be remarkable as an open-world action game, but it still has the story worthy of the most revered gangster movies. [12/2020, p.28]

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is a remake of mixed flavours. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's great. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's awful. Mixture of aged mechanics and amazing graphics, new voices, great old story and some added, yet bad storylines, make it not such a perfect remake. But it sure is worth your time, whether you are a fan of the original or not. The moral of the story survived in all its glory, just be sure to focus your attention to the details where Mafia used to and still shines the most.
