    Promises, promises.. Mafia DE was aimed at to improve the original from 2002. Which brought innovations in games about the story, driving model, storytelling, details, complex narrative and realism. Did he do anything about it? Not really at all. The game it plays like as a bad Mafia 3. Beautiful environment, but horrible animations in shootouts. Driving lost its charm and is terribly unrealistic. Great story but the end of the game and some scenes was terribly turned into ridiculous Hollywood nonsense. Potential in unused content, discarded. Some missions or part of the game are completely missing or slightly altered, it's the same with music that's missing. The choice add in to game difficulty is bad and not appropriate, the classic difficulty is not classic at all and it looks like no one has tested it, you will experience with pain, it has nothing to do with the regular difficulty of the original game. You can't turn off that awful HUD. After this, it can be seen the developers never played the original.

    I really wanted to love this game but I just couldnt. The story is rather fun but man for a 10 hour game this gameplay is so repetitive. At first I was like wow this is awesome and then 75% of the way I was kind of wishing it was over.

    I'm speaking about the game as someone with no history with this series. So just keep in mind I'm not criticizing it as a remake, I'm criticizing it as a modern game I paid full price for. That preamble out of the way the game is decent but entirely unspecial and unoriginal. All cover shooting was basic, with linear shooting galleries, and nothing original to bring to the table. TheI'm speaking about the game as someone with no history with this series. So just keep in mind I'm not criticizing it as a remake, I'm criticizing it as a modern game I paid full price for. That preamble out of the way the game is decent but entirely unspecial and unoriginal. All cover shooting was basic, with linear shooting galleries, and nothing original to bring to the table. The driving was likewise serviceable, but nothing special or original, unless your idea of originality extends to driving old cars. The presentation was fairly strong, mostly in regards to the gorgeous soundtrack. The story was surprisingly decent, I appreciated the way the narrative was stretched out over a number of years which kept the narrative feeling a little more grounded what with all the shootouts and car chases. It also allowed for some pretty impressive character development in what was a fairly lean game. That being said it's not necessarily so strong that it deserves super high praise and the ending felt abrupt in some ways. This is the kind of game that I will forget I played in a couple of months due to it not being particularly great or terrible, and due to it doing very little that hasn't been done to death in this industry. My favorite thing about this game is the setting and theme. I recommend this game only if you are really vibing with the theme and still find joy in these factory made style of gameplay systems.… Expand

    The game ran as smooth as a butter. The story was really good. I was eager to know the end and it did not disappoint. If a non-ray tracing game like this can look this beautiful then other games should not have any excuse. It should not matter if a game has ray tracing or not to look good.

    Ремейк некогда культовой и серьезной игры на 11 часов при классической сложности.

    Из минусов: - в игре нет адекватного обучения, которое раскрывало бы КАК надо играть в игру, например что бы пройти гонку необходимо использовать кнопку тарана для успешных поворотов, но игра этому не обучает и в итоге тыкаешься час в заносах и полном непонимании "что не так?", зато как ради интереса    Ремейк некогда культовой и серьезной игры на 11 часов при классической сложности.

    Из минусов:

В той же опере и боевая система, в миссии где надо уделать в рукопашку челов приставучих к Саре, если не знать как ПРАВИЛЬНО драться, то бой превращается в цирк длинною в 30 минут с онли закликиванием.
    - персонаж преступно долго умирает, драматично падая на землю, зачем почему? Дико тормозит темп игры, ничего кроме раздражения и духоты не вызывает.
    - в игру надобавляли всяких доп. механик: взлом замков, угоны, таскания тел и прочее, которые бы пригодились для открытого мира, мир есть, но открыт ли он? Игра кидает игрока от миссии к миссии и изучать город нет возможности, да и нужно ли? Нет он пуст, а следовательно и механики практически полностью не юзабельны.
    - унылое радио, которое не задает атмосферы и вызывает только желание выключить его.
    - из серьезного криминального произведения с топовыми и колоритными персонажами, игра превратилась в легкий боевичек потеряв свой шарм. Еще и были в корне изменены некоторые ключевые персонажи.

    Из плюсов:
    - приятная стрельба, которая при классическом уровне сложности чувствуется с легким налетом челенджа.
    - атмосферный город, по которому приятно кататься во время выполнения миссий.
    - прикольная система копов, которые тригерятся на превышение скорости и другие легкие нарушения (плюс реализм).
    - насыщенный сюжет полный экшеновых событий (но оригинал лучше).

It's true that the original had more minor details like more realistic car damage, the airport mission had a lot of NPCs reacting to the gun fire in a realistic way and hugging the floor. But let's face it, those aren't the things that affect the story or people pay attention to. The open world in the original was just as dead as in this one.

    At the same time this game improves on the enemy spam and bs insta-kills by enemies you cannot even see or aim at. The ability to skip driving is also a very welcome change.

    I am giving it a 6/10 however, because the controls are designed to be played on a console, not PC. The key layout is very strange, and you cannot double bind keys.    … Expand

Графика 50 на 50, иногда красиво, отдельно отмечу лица героев в катсценах, архитектуру и локацию из последней миссии, но во всём остальном мыльные лица неключевых персонажей, ограниченная графика с малой дальностью прорисовки и детализации объектов.Хорошая игра на один раз.     Отдельный плюс для персонажа Поли, он делает игру веселей.
    Минусы: Очень маленький и плохой набор музыки, по сравнению со второй частью, и даже с первой. Две радиостанции в машине. Лично у меня было немало багов. Местами плохо раскрыт персонаж Томми, он будто просто плывёт по течению и выставляется неплохим персонажем, однако, делающим плохие вещи. Сюжет игры в принципе не даёт персонажам плохой славы и мягок с ними. Игроки наверняка забывают, что играем мы за отпетого бандита, перебившего кучу невинных людей. Но всё равно смакуют уроки, которым учат нас эти бандиты на протяжении игры, и переживают за героев. Я же зевал на катсценах и не воспринимал происходящее всерьёз.
    В итоге неплохая игра на 8 часов с фановым геймплеем и слабым сюжетом    … Expand

    It lacks some gameplay, but in general, the story is good. If you are a fan of the Mafia series, go for it you won't regret it, but do not expect too much, it is a kinda monotonous game

    Mafia DE je nádherný remake. Zažijete znovu příběh taxikáře Tomáše a to v perfektní grafice, nově vymodelovaném městě Lost Heaven, až mi je líto, jak málo toho nová definitivní edice nabízí. Jeden z Legendárních herních příběhů dokážete sloupnout za několik hodin. Nezastaví vás ani nejtěžší obtížnost a jakmile hru původní znáte, není tady ani žádná nová výzva. Město je nádherné a živé,Mafia DE je nádherný remake. Zažijete znovu příběh taxikáře Tomáše a to v perfektní grafice, nově vymodelovaném městě Lost Heaven, až mi je líto, jak málo toho nová definitivní edice nabízí. Jeden z Legendárních herních příběhů dokážete sloupnout za několik hodin. Nezastaví vás ani nejtěžší obtížnost a jakmile hru původní znáte, není tady ani žádná nová výzva. Město je nádherné a živé, veškerá vozidla vypadají jako opravdová a tváře lidí jsou bezvadné. Spousta věcí ale ve hře chybí a nakonec na mě působí prostě prázdně.
    Rcfrc hlavně aby něco bylo a Hangar 13 si z nás udělal menší ♥♥♥♥♥. Čekám velkou další Mafii a tohle beru jako jejich trénink.    … Expand

    Ein cooles Remake eines Klassikers. Die Story ist spannend und anspruchsvoll zugleich, die Figuren sehr komplex, das Gameplay wirkt jedoch insgesamt etwas fahrig. Das Potenzial der offenen Spielwelt wird auch nicht genutzt. Die Open World existiert nur, sie hat keinerlei Funktion (7/10).

    this isn't enough. You did a great job but this wasn't enough. You sticked to original game but this was too much. I recommend this game who wants to play mafia franchise but not worth this price.

    If you wanted to improve the original, you had to remove the rap music from the end credits. This game conveys the spirit of the era, through music as well. Sometimes these little things ruin the whole atmosphere.

    At one time, the first part of "Mafia" was a great game that was remembered for a long time.
    Now "Mafia: Definitive Edition" is not that interesting anymore.
    This is a good remake of a once great game.
    But I didn't have much fun playing the Definitive Edition. I didn't feel nostalgia either.
    I don't see much point in such remakes. Better to create something new and high quality.

    Этот ремейк не будут вспоминать спустя 20 лет, но тем не менее он хорош. Сюжет по-прежнему увлекает, геймплей приятный. Даже нравится размеренно кататься из точки А в точку Б.

Ангар, молодцы, но хочу сказать в игре много пафоса и зациклиности, а так же мало деталей в прогулке почти не чего делать, так же много скриптов в сюжете. Я конечно не знаю почему нельзя ездить на надземнем метро и трамваях... Я проходил оригинал много раз и хочу сказать что годно. Персонажи раскрыты вполне. Но выше перечисленные минусы не дают мне поставить 10 баллов... Пофиг на мыло главное атмосфера есть и халтуры от вас нет.… Expand

    This is a full-fledged, honest to God remake. Some changes to the story will upset hardcore fans, but I think this approach is absolutely justified. Even though this remake is not as amazing as new versions of Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7, it’s still a worthy update.

    The main difference between the remake and the original game is that the latter was outstanding for its time, while the Definitive Edition is “merely” good. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. What’s crucial here is the fact that Hangar 13 approached the original’s narrative with proper respect and refrained from changing it too much. Mafia: Definitive Edition might not be remarkable as an open-world action game, but it still has the story worthy of the most revered gangster movies. [12/2020, p.28]

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is a remake of mixed flavours. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's great. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's awful. Mixture of aged mechanics and amazing graphics, new voices, great old story and some added, yet bad storylines, make it not such a perfect remake. But it sure is worth your time, whether you are a fan of the original or not. The moral of the story survived in all its glory, just be sure to focus your attention to the details where Mafia used to and still shines the most.
