    Speaking of cut content... didn't they say it was expanded with some kind of new missions? One of them regarding a very important baseball game?
    The only baseball game I heard about was on the mission omerta on the radio and in a newspaper...
    By the way I'm missing the Lucas Bertone missions the classic way, with some dialog and a favour to do to him before telling us where the car is...    Speaking of cut content... didn't they say it was expanded with some kind of new missions? One of them regarding a very important baseball game?

    There's no Pitts store to buy guns.
    And not having the tram and train as a rideable options...
    Whats the point of selling a game as expanded in gameplay when it doesnt have half the content the original had?
    There are lots of car variants missing, no multiple way of completing the missions.
    Overall I liked the game but reading the oficial page and watching all interviews with Blackman I feel like a bit disapointed.
    The mafia that you remember and more... well I certainly remember a lot more from the original one.

    One of the reasons i bought this game was the awesome train ride they showed in the trailer and all the NPC they showed walking about. Now i hear i can't use the train?? Another false advertising. Just like Snowrunner.

    The game is linked to the plot without pause in free movement.
    The scenario is not identical to the original.
    In free game, it would be cool if they add some cool details a new update!
    for example:
    - using trams & trains for players
    - earn money and spend it
    - enter Restaurants, being able to eat food for health
    - customize vehicles in your garage
    - Police recognising license plates and clothing.
    Really wish the game was open world the only good thing about the game is the graphics and new actors and character models and of course the missions gave me so much memories but Tbh we all know this game is a huge letdown as you literally cannot do anything except from missions.
    Perhaps I will change the rating for the best if the game will be finalized.    … Expand

    But since its a remake, I must rate it in comparsion with the original game from 2002. New version lacks depth, characters are made plain, there is no real story or character building.     This is how you do a remake. I know hangar 13 doesnt have as much budget as rockstar but they still did their best with the budget available.

Polly is made a bastard who makes fun of Ralphie. It makes you sick just when you see it. Nothing to say. The main character Tommy is the same dumb **** both in voice acting and in behavior. The original hero was a simple guy, communicated in a simple way, behaved nobly. We all fell in love with him for that. In the new version - another plastic cool guy. And the most important thing.     This remaked is beautifuly done and surely brings our memories back. Still sense the nostalgic with touch of recent graphic upgrade. Im enjoy this every moments.

    This remaster builds on this principle by maintaining and updating the graphical fidelity of the game while retaining most of the aspects of the story and above all else, the concepts and ideas of the original game’s missions.

    In turn, this remake also chooses to update the gameplay, adding multiple difficulty options that both provide the challenging experience from the original game, as well as a balanced and easier challenge more akin to the contemporary standards that players expect out of a game’s level of difficulty.

    This is a welcome addition as it is all of the different added upgrades to the visuals, Lost Haven is a beautifully recreated city based around Chicago, New York, and the San Francisco of the 1930’s, the city is brimming with detail, as I drove in the multiple missions of the game I could witness a strike outside of an auto shop, a sign departing my stay from the city as I neared the airport, and a fully functional set of bridges with even an area, in one mission -that remains optional-, where you take one of your companions to a brothel near the docks.

    There are also some pretty welcome additions, the game is fairly linear in its story using the open world more like a stage in which to present it, but there’s also the unlockable bonus mode “Free Ride” which serves as a sandbox open world mode allowing you to explore and play with complete liberty in the city. During the campaign and this additional mode, there are also period comics, from detective novels, to science fiction ones, they serve and contribute in creating the atmosphere of the time. On a later update after launch there was also an alternate visual mode added to Mafia; “The Noir Mode” as the name suggest, turns the picture into a black and white representation akin to classic gangster movies; thanks to the updated graphical fidelity in conjunction with this mode, this offers a unique way of playing through the campaign, truly enhancing in an alternate way both cutscenes and gameplay, capturing beautifully the atmosphere of the time and succeeding in the intentional, of making the game look -for the most part-, like a motion picture.

    If there are complaints for me, they arise with two aspects: one is the fact that when you shoot the enemies, they enter into a very exaggerated death animation that gives you the illusion you can keep damaging them, when in reality you can’t; if you try, your bullets will go right past them. My second complain also stems from the voice acting; you can get used to it (like I did) after a while, but at the beginning it was difficult for me to truly take the dialog seriously because of how exaggerated some of the accents were, especially the character of Paulie which is a fairly important character in the game.

    But like I said, this remake is an improvement on most levels, keeping what works (and still works from the original title) while updating it and adding more than just a visual upgrade to newcomers and past players alike. There might be some diehard fans that would always treasure the original experience above the one provided in this remake, but I personally couldn’t be happier with it.    … Expand

Extra gameplay and missions which tell the largely untold stories of how Sam and Paulie came to be in the family or the beginnings of the war between Morello and Salieri are desperately wanted. As fans, we want to see more from these characters that are even more incredibly interesting and complex thanks to the improved story and script. It would be even better to see the actors of the main characters in the DE return to continue their roles in a DLC, including the likes of Andrew Bongiorno (Tommy), Glenn Taranto (Don Salieri), Don DiPetta (Sam), Jeremy Luke (Paulie), Steven Oliver (Frank), Bella Popa (Sarah) etc.… Expand

    Not the biggest fan of 2k but as I consider the original one of my all time favourite games i had to try this one.
    Comparing it to all the other "remasters" popping up for old classics, this is actuall a good one.
    The story - well nothing to say here..it's a homerun. Graphics are really nice. I love the atmosphere of the city.

    *SOUND*: While the soundtrack is fine, it's a point that Mafia III simply made perfect.

    *INNOVATION*: A good Mafia was needed at this point, and this remake gets it more than enough even with its drawbacks. It improves aspects of the original at a narrative level and improves more complex sections, like the Formula 1 race.    … Expand

Jeden z Legendárních herních příběhů dokážete sloupnout za několik hodin. Nezastaví vás ani nejtěžší obtížnost a jakmile hru původní znáte, není tady ani žádná nová výzva. Město je nádherné a živé,Mafia DE je nádherný remake. Zažijete znovu příběh taxikáře Tomáše a to v perfektní grafice, nově vymodelovaném městě Lost Heaven, až mi je líto, jak málo toho nová definitivní edice nabízí. Jeden z Legendárních herních příběhů dokážete sloupnout za několik hodin. Nezastaví vás ani nejtěžší obtížnost a jakmile hru původní znáte, není tady ani žádná nová výzva. Así que ahora que he tenido la ocasión de echarle mano al Mafia Definitive Edition no lo dude y he de reconocer que es un juegazo perfectamente rehecho para los tiempos pero manteniendo todo lo del original. Para los que no sepáis como va, no os esperéis un GTA en los años 30, pues Mafia es un juego muy narrativo donde vas progresando por las historias, no realmente un mundo abierto. Hay combate y tiroteos, sin duda, algunos incluso muy espectaculares, pero también muchas escenas de conducción (en muchas ocasiones incluso hay que seguir las normas de tráfico) así como algunas de sigilo. Todo ello en el marco de una historia fantástica de mafias, con conflicto de Dones, el papel de la policía y la corrupción, personajes muy bien llevados, etc.

    Gráficamente el juego está muy muy bien, capturando deliciosamente la estética y el feeling de la época. A nivel sonoro igual, desde los acentos de los personajes a las radios y las noticias que van dando, el sonido te transporta de lleno a los años 30. Y, al menos en mi experiencia, me he encontrado con algunos bugs pero poca cosa y poco importantes.

    Por todo ello, si quieres una experiencia narrativa de mafias, tiroteos y ley seca, entonces sin duda este es tu juego. Un 9.    … Expand

    The best game of my life just got a rework. I appreciate the work of hangar 13 that they had the idea to rework the game. And they did it well, and I still had teary eyes at the end of the game.

    Great remake I have played the original game a long time ago, but the cars, the atmosphere, and the storyline was great. The game is pretty short but enjoyable.

    Не буду долго разглагольствовать,все пацаны знают про Мафию. Что могу сказать,стрельба не как в оригинале,не говно,гонка все так же сложна,сюжет с парой корректировок прошел проверку временем,но немного создатели все же недокрутили(как и локализаторы),убрав,например,нелинейность в миссии на пароходе,или легендарный трек "Running Man".( Графика,как и в оригинале,шикарна в катсценах,но такаяНе буду долго разглагольствовать,все пацаны знают про Мафию. Что могу сказать,стрельба не как в оригинале,не говно,гонка все так же сложна,сюжет с парой корректировок прошел проверку временем,но немного создатели все же недокрутили(как и локализаторы),убрав,например,нелинейность в миссии на пароходе,или легендарный трек "Running Man".( Графика,как и в оригинале,шикарна в катсценах,но такая себе во время геймплея. Sicuramente meno ispirato in termini di meccaniche rispetto al secondo capitolo (meno modifiche alle auto, poliziotti meno attenti alle infrazioni) ma il racconto della vita di Angelo fa superare queste mancanze. Grafica non eccelsa ma di buon livello. GameplayUn ottimo remake, trama un po' spezzettata e forse leggermente confusionaria ma che non inficia di un buon godimento del titolo.     Sıkılmadan tek seferde bitirdiğim nadir oyunlardan birisi oldu normalde böyle oyunları sevmem şans verdim pişman olmadım keşke bundan sonraki çıkanlarda böyle olabilseydi.

    Perfect passing time, passed in 1 day, did not have time to get bored. Good story, good ending. Excellent eyeliner for part 2, you can not think of a better one. In general, the game about the mafia is made with a bang, the reissue looks great and is optimized so that even on my teapot it went without lags!

    bir taksi şoförünün mafya olmaya itiliş durumu aslında. Ancak hikaye aceleye getirilmeden öyle güzel işleniyor ki anlatılan her şeye ikna oluyorsunuz. Bir yandan da bir mafyaya dönüşmenin heyecanını yaşıyorsunuz. Şehir öylesine güzel tasvir edilmiş ki çoğu zaman bir oyunun içinde değil de geçmişte bir yerde yaşıyor gibi hissediyorsunuz.

    It lacks some gameplay, but in general, the story is good. If you are a fan of the Mafia series, go for it you won't regret it, but do not expect too much, it is a kinda monotonous game

    I liked the game, but the main thing keeping this game down is the pace at which you go through the story. You go through the story pretty fast, which makes this game very short. There isn't really anything to do in the game besides playing through the storyline, which doesn't really make this game feel like an open world game.     Maifa serisine yakışır bir oyun. Çıkmadan önce oyunun çok kötü olmasıyla ilgili içimde bir korku vardı, fakat oyunun gameplay videosunu izledikten sonra fikrim değişti. Oyun çıktığı gün de direk alıp oynadım. Bana sorarsanız oldukça güzel bir oyun. Bir çok kişi Mafia 3'e çok benzediğinden dolayı beğenmemiş ama bana sorarsanız arada gelişme var. Maifa DE'yi bitirdikten sonra bir de Mafia 3Maifa serisine yakışır bir oyun. Mesela Pauile, Sam ve Tommy arasındaki dostluk önceki oyuna göre çok daha anlamlı. Karakterler artık daha derin. Aynı şekilde Sarah'la olan ilişki de çok anlamlı hale getirilmiş. Fakat bu oyunda gerçekten çok boş bir konuşma haline gelmiş.Onun dışında bana sorarsanız oyun çok güzel.     Лично мне не хотелось играть в первую Мафию, по причине плохой графики. Поэтому я даже ждал этот ремейк! Да, разработчики совсем другие, и да, в этой части Томми получился менее серьёзным, нежели в оригинале (смотрел прохождение), но при этом нить сюжета не пропадает! Спасибо!

    Great remake, it looks very good and I'm happy the plot was not changed that much. I really enjoyed playing the original game and this edition brings out memories and gives you a lot of fun. If I had to change anything I'd add possibility to save the game at any point of time (some autosave take place in a very bad moment - once I needed to play whole mission from the beginning because IGreat remake, it looks very good and I'm happy the plot was not changed that much.     It's a great remake of the Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven. Well-balanced gameplay and pleasant graphics give me the exact emotions, which I felt when I played the original game. The only problem is the moral of the whole story. It's absolutely different and the moral of the original Mafia game was more suitable for this narrative, as for me.

Open world is useless, no quests, only horrible collectables. Drive physics is ok, I expected the worst from small studio. Can recommend it to everyone who like Uncharted-style games, one of the best remastersFirst time playing Mafia series and can say that i like this game.     Without being totally a current game, this remake of Mafia gives us the option to enjoy the classic game with more than acceptable graphic quality.

    The plot inherited from the original title is really good, and the experience itself is quite entertaining.

One more thing that I think this game did well was the historical radio announcement, baseball game etc. If only everything else was as good as that. Sadly it is not. The story was probably the biggest selling point of the original game and I am very disappointed that the remake was not able to retain the high standard. It does not start bad, the first few missions are pretty good, but then it starts to slip and the story diverges from the original more and more. What disappointed me the most is the ending, instead of the profound truth in the original we got pathetic generic Hollywood style nonsense about family. That was not the point of the Mafia at all, you understood nothing Hangar 13. Daniel Vavra (the creator of the original Mafia) himself says that he would rewrite most of the Mafia dialogues if he was doing the remake today, but he would keep the essential bits that make up the moral of the story. I cannot stress how important that statement is. From the gameplay perspective, there were big changes also. This game became a cover shooter and not a very good one at that. How is it possible that you cannot shoot blindly from the cover just as your enemies do. Also the enemies are all hard scripted, they are put in the game just for you to shoot them, without any thought given to why they are actually supposed to be there. The number of enemies is also more than doubled when compared to the original. Why are you only capable of carrying one small arm and only three magazines for it? Why is the path to your mission target always displayed on a map as if you were five years old and incapable of choosing the path for yourself? Next thing is driving and it is yet another disappointment. It went from a perfect simulation in the original game to a generic arcade in the remake. Also you cannot really enjoy driving, because most of the driving parts of the missions were just simply cut from the remake, which is a shame, because just cruising through the empty city at night after completing a hard mission was a big part of the overall Mafia experience. These things matter to me greatly. I do not even want to mention the stupid car chases, exploding barrels, ammo crates and so many other things that this remake butchered. The music is also changed significantly, the original radio tracks are all removed and replaced by other songs from the same era and often even from the same musician. Why? The mission music is a generic and I definitely prefer the atmospheric music of the original Mafia. If the original game was ever criticized for anything, it was usually a lack of secondary quests or additional content. And this remake instead of remedying that, cuts even the few missions from Lucas Bertone that were in the original game. There are no microtransactions, but predictably they were able to squeeze at least a bit of SJW propaganda. Talking about Sarah, she is another fine example of how the remake does not care about consequences and realism. In the original game the subject of you doing all the killing and being a gangster in context of your relationship with Sarah was discussed several times. In the remake she is seemingly oblivious to what you do for living, despite the fact that she works in the Salieri’s Bar herself. Anyway the main thing is that she can vote now. I think I know who she is voting for.

    Maybe all this came out a bit too harsh. Mafia: Definitive Edition is by no means a bad game, but it just is not Mafia. That did not surprised me since I did not expect Hangar 13 to make a good job, but what surprised me at least a little bit is how the vast majority of players are able to look past all this and still enjoy the game.     I didn't think that after a year, the game was never finished. Not introduced a unit of currency money, not expanded the story (as made it short not complete) no interaction in freeride.
    We all Mafia fans just got screwed for our money.

Side mission with Luca are gone, Ralphie practically gives us 2-3 cars the entire game. There is no free time in between the missions, it's like introduction, fast forward to action, some shooting and then boom, next mission. No side talks with Sam and Paulie, just jumping from action to action.

    In the original we were feeling the world development, as the years passed, the cars got better and you could really feel that changes in the city. Here there is practically no difference at all, not that it matters as there is not a chance to even know the city, if the mission allows driving the target is usually really close.

    So the story/characters were ready, all the devs had to was refresh the graphics and maybe even add something new to the story, but no, let's shorten the story and change it and don't even think about adding some content... If you wanted to write new story just create a new game, oh whoops, I forgot you made one, Mafia III which was utterly booring (at least the music was fine there).

    To sum up, this game is not worth the money. The graphic is good, but all else, just not worth it, and if you are a fan of the original, it's painful to play this game knowing how they ruined such good story.

    I'm pretty sure I will play original game many times again (already did like 4 times) but I doubt I will ever play definitive edition again...    … Expand

    -Lost Heaven looks great.
    -Some sounds are good.
    -The cut scenes are good.

    Now let me explain why is a 10/10 game:
    -Lost Heaven people are suffering brain damage, the AI lost Tommy if he's over a box, they also run to random spots and some times friendly AI doesn't shoot.
    -They do a good effort with the random people fighting animation on the street, but you open doors with your mind faster than a bullet. Also the melee animation is awful, you always elude with the same animation whether the enemy has a knife or a baseball bat.
    -People is cover in oil, because when it's raining, they ain't wet at all, unless they are in a cut scene 'cause there is where we draw the line.
    -Gunplay is great, you can get in cover like in Gears of War, throw grenades like in Gears of War, don't recognize when you are low in health like in GoW and run raising hell to the enemy like in Gears of War. Sadly you ain't playing Gears of War and Tommy ain't a trained soldier. Also, death animations are taken from Hentai Hitler.
    -There is a stealth gameplay, sadly for this Mafia 3 DLC , they didn't change the horrible stealth system from the original mafia 3. Tommy is cover in lethal poison, 'cause hugging someone from behind it's immediately dead.
    -There is a simulation driving option, sadly you are simulating the arcade driving, because those options are the same.

    Something good about this remake/dlc is the rewriting they did to the story, because Tommy Angelo in the original was a **** with feelings and all that **** luckily they changed that. Spoilers ahead. In the Corleone Hotel mission, Tommy is sent to kill the manager and a girl. In the original, Tommy understand that the girl did nothing wrong and is all Salieris guys fault, so he let she alive. In this version, Sam explain to you why you shouldn't kill the girl 'cause Hangar 13 know you are stupid enough to don't get it.
    That's not all the rewriting they did, there is also the Frank mission, in the original, Tommy kill people until he get to Frank and understand that kill that guy isn't a good idea 'cause he was your friend and all that sentimental stuff. In this version they just look at each other, Tommy was about to shoot but Hangar 13 remember that Tommy let him alive, so Frank get in the plane (Also the plane looks uglier than the plane in the original). Then the Canadian mission, 3 guys in a truck against half the cops and a **** TANK, spoilers Tommy wins (I think they saw some random mission in GTA and copy past it). The Morello's brother mission, the one that every one remembers from the original, the long shooting at the port, the mind blowing thing with the train and how Tommy understand that every one that live by the sword, die by the sword. TOO MUCH THINKING LET'S MAKE TOMMY DRIVE A BIKE (Also, the bike riding is awful, feels like you are moving a wheelchair, and they don't have any kind of ragdoll, so when you fall off, they just rotate tommy 270° and make him get up. With that said, let's continue) WHILE MORELLO'S MAN SHOOT AT HIM AND THEN YOUR FRIENDS CRASH A CAR BUT YOU CONTINUE AND WHEN MORELLO'S BROTHER GET IN THE PORT TOMMY **** SLIDE OUT THE BIKE WHILE SHOOT. HE WAS A **** CAB DRIVER, WHAT A **** IS WRONG WITH HANGAR 13. You solve a easy shooting and the game tells you move a lever, so a train crashes a random door and you get that there is where morello's brother is. Tommy follows him to a place full of explosive barrels, Tommy laughs and throw a zippo to him so everything should explode and kill both. But Hangar 13 pays to the fire to don't blow the hole thing up until Tommy get to a save area, THE END. The kill Morello mission is even worst, things happen, you shoot a plane down, and that happen, the plane get's down. In this version Hangar 13 pays gravity to make the plane cross to a random spot in the other side of the town so Tommy can kill the Morello in the middle of the street ???????. To realize how much they don't get the original just let me tell you this, at the end they show you how Vito and Joe kill Tommy, also they change Joe face for third time, then they show you how the family cry over Tommy's chest and all that sentimental **** AND END UP WITH A **** RAP SONG, A GAME BASED IN THE OLD DAYS 30', RAP, 30' RAP.
    The sad thing about this is that the already use the bullet of remake, so we lost the opportunity to see the Tommy Angelo story in some solid and complete game. That was so sad, HANGAR 13 plays sad rap song.

    Did the developer claim to have expanded the game? That's where everything is shortened and cut off in the plot! And why even in a free ride, the train stations are closed and it does not work for the player!? And where is the monetary unit of the FreeRide system? This is not a game, it's just a poorly copied original story and it was ruined! not experienced developers of this game)

    The game is awful in every way. Dubbing and animations are rubbish, the AI is absolutely incapable, it just does a disproportionate amount of damage, while Team AI only runs in the field of fire.     I see no reason why to buy this, because if you like the story or unique game mechanic of driving cars, you will play original Mafia from 2002 (which is surely better in this two characteristics). If you like graphics engine and fight mechanics, you will play Mafia II.
    Personally, I don't really want DLCs for this. But there are things that I want. Like ironing out the remaining huge bugs, implementing the still missing features (tram, train), adding more stuff to do in Free Ride, etc.    … Expand

    If what you were looking for was a mafia 1 remake that feels like the recent mafia 2 remake, then you’re in for a treat but if you were looking for more you may be disappointed. What it does get right thought is the feel of a 1930’s american city, you will immediately feel the nostalgia growing as you weave in and out of traffic exploring this expansive city. You once again play as tommyIf what you were looking for was a mafia 1 remake that feels like the recent mafia 2 remake, then you’re in for a treat but if you were looking for more you may be disappointed. What it does get right thought is the feel of a 1930’s american city, you will immediately feel the nostalgia growing as you weave in and out of traffic exploring this expansive city. You once again play as tommy angelo in the final years of the prohibition and if you enjoyed the story of the original game, you will without a doubt enjoy the story here but this time with realistic graphics. sound effects are amazing with even smaller details like hearing the engine of your car cool down as turn it off, realistic sounding gun fire and you will get an immediate nostalgia boost from hearing the music come from the radio. the story is phenomenal as always and the comedic timing of some of the characters hits perfectly when it is needed whilst at the same time drawing you into the game’s world.

    onto the negatives. whilst the graphics of this game are impressive at times, especially in cutscenes, you will experience quite a bit of pop in when traveling at high speeds through the city and in grassy terrain. Some character models, whilst they do look amazing in cutscenes with you being able to see every hair follicle, most background NPC characters tend to look potatoey and derpy in gameplay sections looking like an assassins creed 2 remake copyright lawsuit waiting to happen. on the discussion of NPCs, enemy AI can come across as brain dead at times. constantly getting stuck behind walls in their vehicles, running out into the open as you’re opening fire on them or even running right up next to you like they thought they were invincible.

    Even with all of it’s faults, it is still an enjoyable game with a great story and a fun cast of characters. It just needed a few more weeks in the oven to iron out all of these problems before it released    … Expand

    I have played all MAFIA games before but this game is just AMAZING, i loved the gameplay, the story is actually the best one i have seen in any game, driving is kind of weird but there is nothing else that is really wrong with this game (besides the usual bugs that may or may not occur) .

    I was looking forward to being able to mess around on trains and expected them to be fully included considering there was a brief view of the interior of a train in one of the trailers.
    So sad they didn't bring this mechanic to the definitive edition... I really liked that and it made the immersion much deeper. Not only they butchered the characters' traits, but also don't let me ride public transport. In the original game I once even escaped a crime scene on a tram. Anyway, Thanks.    … Expand

    You can't even go into buildings, train,trams or such that in the story were all fully rendered and in the game... the plot scenario does not allow you to move away from it not a step to the side... free ride is a dead world... ohh...

There are no possible deviations from the plot to the game world. The free game mode is a dead city is not available in it, the train stations are locked with a terrifying view of them without use.     This is a full-fledged, honest to God remake. Some changes to the story will upset hardcore fans, but I think this approach is absolutely justified. Even though this remake is not as amazing as new versions of Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7, it’s still a worthy update.

    The main difference between the remake and the original game is that the latter was outstanding for its time, while the Definitive Edition is “merely” good. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. What’s crucial here is the fact that Hangar 13 approached the original’s narrative with proper respect and refrained from changing it too much. Mafia: Definitive Edition might not be remarkable as an open-world action game, but it still has the story worthy of the most revered gangster movies. [12/2020, p.28]

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is a remake of mixed flavours. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's great. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's awful. Mixture of aged mechanics and amazing graphics, new voices, great old story and some added, yet bad storylines, make it not such a perfect remake. But it sure is worth your time, whether you are a fan of the original or not. The moral of the story survived in all its glory, just be sure to focus your attention to the details where Mafia used to and still shines the most.
