    7/10. Gameplay is mediocre. Very average compared to other modern games, but the story is still great. in fact some things were improved over the original with important side characters given more story time.

    People criticize the dead open world as if the original was completely insane simulation. It's true that the original had more minor details like more realistic car damage, the    7/10. It's true that the original had more minor details like more realistic car damage, the airport mission had a lot of NPCs reacting to the gun fire in a realistic way and hugging the floor. But let's face it, those aren't the things that affect the story or people pay attention to. The open world in the original was just as dead as in this one.

    At the same time this game improves on the enemy spam and bs insta-kills by enemies you cannot even see or aim at. The ability to skip driving is also a very welcome change.

    I am giving it a 6/10 however, because the controls are designed to be played on a console, not PC. The key layout is very strange, and you cannot double bind keys.    … Expand

    This is a slap in the face for Mafia fans out there...This is just an overtutorialized basic and bad cover shooter, a shell of a game...The cast with all the new voices are just horrid and bland...I felt this game was parody of the original, no immersion anywhere.
    Here is a quick summer up :
    No public transport. Can't ride train or tram. Can't even enter platforms.     Here is a quick summer up :

    No public transport. Can't ride train or tram. Can't even enter platforms.

    Animations are ridiculously fast---to the point of looking comical. Mafia 1 was the opposite.

    No gun shops, nor any restaurants to eat for health. Nothing to do or interact with in the world.

    Looks, feels and runs like Mafia 3.

    No interactive gas stations with clerk.

    Can't sit in car and turn off engine. Can't exit car with engine running. Can't turn on lights.

    No turn signals on any vehicles.

    Tommy shares many of the exact same animations of Lincoln from Mafia 3.

    Driving missions are hand-held and heavily rely on scripted cutscene action events.

    No buildings are enterable outside of missions.

    NPCs don't respond to you on street, and if they do its with one word.

    Many cars missing from the original.

    Tommy has been rewritten to be a cocky d-bag, complete opposite manners to Mafia 1.

    Same LOD issues on distant objects like buildings and vehicles like Mafia 3.

    Terrible AI.

    Graphics look similar to Mafia 2 with brightness turned up. "Amazing graphics" is hyperbole.

    Pop-in galore, to the point of cars and trains popping in in front of you.

    Textures are generally low resolution even on maxed settings.

    Atrociously poor lighting, the game will fade between odd shades of white, green and blue.

    Simulation driving mode is akin to a regular arcade driving mode.

    No realistic suicide doors on cars like Mafia 1.

    No car tuning options like Mafia 2.

    Poor damage model on cars, smash into wall at full speed does nothing.

    Can't open bonnet to repair car like in Mafia 2.
    Majority of music from the original is missing including all Mills Brothers and Belleville. Terrible gun play. No world interactivity like turning on lights, faucets, flushing toilets etc. Lack of bullet detail like entry holes on car tires. Bugs, glitches and generally poor quality control of the map. No spoilers, but the game ends with a rap song. I'll let that one speak for itself. Can't disable basic features like HUD, health bar or mini map. No money system, can't buy anything. "Tommy is not a trained soldier" was a lie. Avoid this blasphemy at all costs !    … Expand

    Хорошая игра на один раз. Из плюсов весьма приятные перестрелки. Жаль по старинке - без регена здоровья, но с аптечками, и мало патронов. Графика 50 на 50, иногда красиво, отдельно отмечу лица героев в катсценах, архитектуру и локацию из последней миссии, но во всём остальном мыльные лица неключевых персонажей, ограниченная графика с малой дальностью прорисовки и детализации объектов.Хорошая игра на один раз.     Отдельный плюс для персонажа Поли, он делает игру веселей.
    Минусы: Очень маленький и плохой набор музыки, по сравнению со второй частью, и даже с первой. Две радиостанции в машине. Лично у меня было немало багов. Местами плохо раскрыт персонаж Томми, он будто просто плывёт по течению и выставляется неплохим персонажем, однако, делающим плохие вещи. Сюжет игры в принципе не даёт персонажам плохой славы и мягок с ними. Игроки наверняка забывают, что играем мы за отпетого бандита, перебившего кучу невинных людей. Но всё равно смакуют уроки, которым учат нас эти бандиты на протяжении игры, и переживают за героев. Я же зевал на катсценах и не воспринимал происходящее всерьёз.
    В итоге неплохая игра на 8 часов с фановым геймплеем и слабым сюжетом    … Expand

    The shortest and most stripped-down story is just a spit from the original. All locations are closed, I can't go by tram or metro. A free game as a piece of a background picture without access to the locations of the game does not make sense. The chapter in the port is disfigured beyond recognition. The developer is proud of this **** seriously!?

    I'm a big fan of the original and I think this is a faithful remake that Hangar 13 should be proud of. There are some glaring issues in this remake like very inconsistent difficulty, control issues (especially in combat) and facial animations that looks like something from the early Xbox 360/PS3 era, but apart from that, the game plays well, the music is good, the city looks beautifulI'm a big fan of the original and I think this is a faithful remake that Hangar 13 should be proud of.     It's a game from a different era. Its world is not open, it's actually incredibly closed. You go from mission to mission without any form of free exploration or side quests. It has a good story and a satisfying shooting system. Considering it is a remake I'm giving it an 8 (would have given it a 6 otherwise)

The story pacing gives no way to make the main game open world, unfortunately, but the pacing of this game mode made it straightforward, which I believe was a good decision in a world of exhausting open world games with shallow, boring and almost unnecessary side quests.     The experience on the linear story mode alone is enough to make it a worthwhile purchase though because the game is crafted with beautiful graphics, good acting, simple but fun gameplay, and interesting narrative. Is it a good remake? I do not have knowledge about the original Mafia, so I cannot give comment about that. But is it a good game? Absolutely.    … Expand

    The graphics are spectacular. Super clean and lovely to look at everything. The story is the most captivating part of the game.     The graphics are spectacular. Super clean and lovely to look at everything. The story is the most captivating part of the game. It's linear, but there's something magical about this classic 1930's mob story. I can remember how inspiring it was at 13, and it definitely brought back fond memories, and made some new ones. Driving is a lot of fun, the cars feel great. The shooting mechanics didn't bother me as much as some, but definitely nothing innovative going on. Headshots are effective. I prefer this over a game like Division where you have to shoot someone a thousand times to fall.

    On the downside, let's be real, the open world is pretty pointless. It's nice to have the option to just cruise, but there's nothing to do more than look around. Sight seeing should be had, but it won't fill you up for too long.
    Overall if you're looking for a solid mob story during the prohibition era, I would highly recommend!

    I think that this is truly a unique game and I would recommend that if you are a fan of this type of genre then I think you should give this game a try.

    Don't think I'm some kind of an old*** who only loves old things and never appreciates new stuff (I loved COD remastered, RE2 was amazing and was even better than some new games). But this, it neither feels like a new game nor it has the feeling of the old good mafia. Graphics looks decent but the light has ruined everything for me.    This game does not feel as good as the original one.

    Graphics looks decent but the light has ruined everything for me. I can't explain what exactly happened but it lost some kind of the NY ambient even the second mafia or the original game had (I guess even first division has it at some point). I also didn't like shooting not in terms of aiming or recoil but what AI is doing during the fight: they just do several shots then wait for you to shoot them (it has nothing to do with difficulty because I played on the classic one). Also, driving has changed and, again, it has lost something that was giving me such satisfaction and good feedback back in the days. I don't think that I should talk about the story because everyone knows how amazingly done it is, the only thing I noticed is that characters lack something. Maybe it's because they cut the content that also at some point was supposed to introduce characters to us and fill the story a little bit more.

    Overall this game is GOOD, especially if you haven't played Mafia games before. Otherwise, it will disappoint you because it's not as entertaining as Mafia II, but neither has that feeling of the story as the original game does.

    That's my subjective opinion about the game and I DO KNOW that it's a remake not remastered and it is not supposed to be the same game but as I said before it doesn't feel like a new game for a person, who played the original one.

    P.S. I know that the devs probably didn't have that much money to create a NEW game but they should understand that making remakes is a risky business.

    P.P.S. Night city looks really amazing and nights is probably the best thing this game has. If this game had a "night only" option, I wouldn't even care about the rest.

    2/5 Replay value is very low for Story, decent for Free Ride. Game has many collectibles but they don't matter much.

    4/5 Graphics are quite sharp, a living city and rather odd animations. Nice effects, great immersion, a decent optimization.

    5/5 Music offers old-timey songs, great voiceovers and good effects. Radio adds an extra layer of immersion with events.

    Some hits from the original are missing.

    Verdict 7/10

    Story is rich and gets pretty interesting at times but takes risky turns unlike in the original, it surprises a classic player like me. It's got various mission objectives, fun driving in cars and a decent cover shooting system. World is big and full of collectibles.     Apart from the antiquated mission design I really enjoyed my time. I was a big fan of the original and blown away by the graphics, especially the reflections (not raytraced).

    The shooting mechanics are nothing special, take cover and wait for the brain dead AI to make a move and gun them down but the story is well told and intriguing with a great orchestral score. The GamePlay was as I was expecting from a game from the Mafia Series. The Level Design, or in this case the upgrade from the original, looks great. The Combat System is on par to what is expected from a 3rd person game. The Narrative in this game, fits the game and brings the story forward successfully. The Visuals is amazing, From the cars to the cutscenes. The Sound effects are perfect, from the guns to the muscle car that i ended up playing a lot with due to the engine sounds. The Voice acting also is on spot. I can not say i encountered any bugs or performance issues during my PlayThrough. The Story was interesting, but nothing special. The ending was fantastic tho. On the replayability, i can no see anyone replaying this more than 1 time in 1 year, Pros & Cons: +Great Visuals. +Good Story. +Breathtaking City. +The Music -No Side Missions "8/10 – Very Good. These games leave me with something outstanding to remember them by, ideas for single-player or multiplayer, clever characters and writing, noteworthy graphics and sound, or some combination thereof.     I have really enjoyed it, even though I never played original Mafia. It is not an outstanding game, but for a one-time experience it is worth it.

    Вердикт - стоит уделить немного времени холодным осенним вечером и вместе с обычным неудачником стать свидетелем жизни и смерти высоких чинов полиции, продажных прокуроров и трусливых священников.
    ДОСТОИНСТВА:
    Отличная лицевая анимация. Катсцены смотрятся как один фильм. Отличная озвучка. Переработанные модели автомобилей, некоторые предметы разрушаются на ура.
    НЕДОСТАТКИ:

    Mafia Remake ha sido una experiencia sorprendente tanto para lo malo como para lo bueno. Contando que en esta entrega esta adaptación es considerada un remake del juego original. Pienso que la crítica a este videojuego tiene que ser más completa y detallada que otras simples adaptaciones de otras entregas de la saga. En cuanto a la historia, ambientación y personajes destaca notablementeMafia Remake ha sido una experiencia sorprendente tanto para lo malo como para lo bueno. Contando que en esta entrega esta adaptación es considerada un remake del juego original. Pienso que la crítica a este videojuego tiene que ser más completa y detallada que otras simples adaptaciones de otras entregas de la saga. En cuanto a la historia, ambientación y personajes destaca notablemente como todo sus predecesores. Pero siendo considerado un remake peca de un escaso contenido centrándose en la única y lineal progresión mediante misiones de la historia. Apenas deja explorar o disfrutar del entorno y del mundo libre construido a su alrededor. También vemos que arraiga los problemas de su tercera entrega que estaba llena de bugs y errores como la iluminación a la hora de jugarlo. Igual no tiene la misma cantidad de defectos técnicos pero si que arrastra el mismo problema. Por lo demás es un juego de una duración acorde con una jugabilidad no muy destacada pero justa para su disfrute. En resumen un juego de la saga Mafia no decepciona pero tampoco destaca sobre los demás. Con una buena historia y una adecuada jugabilidad es perfectamente disfrutable. Aunque hay que dejar claro que el podio de las 3 entregas de la saga en mi opinión lo tiene Mafia II.… Expand

    LONG: + Looks dandy. Best illumination game work 2020. Cars are fantastically modelled. But, I didn't like cartoonish look of the people. IMHO. + Sarah is OK now. Forget that ludicrous romantic scene. Love her accent. + Pauilie's acting is    SHORT:

    + It's still Mafia I plot. Despite Hangar 13 actions to massacre our boy.

    - Driving. Bad. Cars are almost totally similar in driving. No inertia. Perfect turning. City lives according to its own rules and mostly ignores your movement. People crossing streets, while you're driving on them, just to jump 3 meters back right before your car.
    - Shooting. Bad. And I recommend easy game mode. On classic enemies will not react to your hits, so you will have a feeling that you're shooting at T-800s or playing MMOFPS. Way funnier to run into CQB on easy, just as deadly. Covers are bad too. Not comfortable. AI sees your through the wall and start shooting/throwing in advance. Paulie and Sam are not only immortal now, but immaterial, bullets go right through them into your skull.
    - Railroading. Original game has possibilities for different play styles in some missions. You could stealth, shoot, trick your way through. In remake you can't shoot at some moments and can't abstand from aggressive play in others. Some things are cut out from the original too.
    - Bugs. For example, if you get perfectly aligned with enemy in game X, Y or even Z-axis you will die instantly no matter the obstacles (walls, cars). However, this didn't really make me angry. But after such deaths, or just deaths, or failing an objective (like, defending a truck) you will restart at nearest checkpoint and 100% will not have such guns and ammo as at the moment of death (health remains exactly the same) and 10% that you will progress through the story. I deliberately said nearest checkpoint not the last one. So, it's clear how poorly this thing is coded. And this did make me angry.

    Things that I feared, but they turned to be ok.
    * Paulie is a Shrek. Never felt so during the game. Actor did a great job, Paulie is way more likeable than in original.

    Вместе с тем, не могу отметить и существенные недостатки - игровая механика чувствуется очень старой (раз уж перелопачивали все, могли и над ней поработать); город сделан неплохо, пусть он однотипный и маленький, однако - отсутствие возможности поездить по нему в свободном доступе очень расстраивает; персонажи очень поверхностно раскрыты, к ним вроде бы есть сопереживание, а вроде бы и нет; очень скудный арсенал в игре - также, как и с игровой механикой, могли бы и добавить что-нибудь новое.

    At first, the game is certainly not enthralling. Its characters are not compelling, and the missions aren't super incredible at first. However, the game does pick up. The voice acting REALLY rubbed me the wrong way at the beginning, "The Don" did not feel like a mafia boss at first, and paulie did not feel like a soldier in the mafia, however as the game went on these characters became more believable.

    None of the characters are loveable, that's the point. Much like goodfellas, the sopranos and more, the characters are all criminals and generally not good people but at a certain point you are compelled to finish their stories. You certainly have to suspend disbelief for some of the games mechanics such as cops just giving up on searching for you after a massive job.

    Some of the missions did not feel particularly grand, and maybe could've used more modernization but I can understand why that may have not been the case so I can't fault it entirely.

    One thing that this game carried over from its Mafia 3 is the INCREDIBLE cinematics, they're fantastic. They bring so much to the game, and really this is where the characters shine. Their animations in scenes are fantastic, while out can be a bit strange at time but generally not bad.

    I only came across 2-3 game breaking bugs and were easily fixed with a quick restart of the game.
    Zero graphical bugs except for the weird one that was present in mafia 3 where the character has a strange outline on them in certain weather types.

    Overall a great experience, For 40$ its a fun pickup, for 30$ its great, for less, its a must have.

    It is not supremely long, in fact, it took me less than 3 days to beat it, after playing it off and on for a few hours at a time. I'd say maybe 10 hours, probably less if you're quick to it and turn off the "trivial driving" setting to skip the slower parts, however, I'd leave it on as there is some good dialogue and more involved there that could not be seen otherwise.

    The world feels great, the vehicles and lifestyle of everyone is very in tune with the time and the radio selection is excellent, however, its rather drab and gray. I understand that may be some of the point but it does suffer from much of what Mafia 2 suffered from. The color palette leaves a lot to be desired but its not awful. The game is linear, so I understand why the world is not supremely fleshed out, as it does not expect players to be driving around free-roaming like they do in Mafia 3 or a plethora of other open world games.

    The antagonist is interesting, but not super compelling, I'd argue the main characters pursuits are far more compelling than the rival mob. The game is told through a series of flashbacks, very akin the mafia 3 but not as masterfully. It's very well done, and sticks to the original but it does show its age when its being told like that and massive gaps in story are happening.

    Overall, its a wonderful game and potentially one of the greatest remasters of all time of a game I had never really felt compelled to play.    … Expand

Затем очень криво расставлены аптечки, в какой то миссии их 10000, а в какой то вообще блин нет, хотя очень нужны ( например галерея) . Баги с нпс ваще норма, если ты мирного убиваешь, и он, допустим стоял близко к стене, то скорее всего он наполовину войдет в стену... либо нпс просто стоят тупят, крч мрак с нпс в этой игре на самом деле. Еще обещали, что противники будут очень живо реагировать на попадания, так вот херня это все, с томика стреляешь им в грудак, похеру абсолютно, стоят дальше как ни в чем не бывало и палят по вам, то же относится и к конечностям , импакт от попаданий минимален. Мотоцикл , кстати, очень плохо сделан в том плане, что, если ты врезаешься в условный объект на огромной скорости, то ты даже не слетаешь с мотоцикла, продолжаешь как ни в чем не бывало на нем сидеть. Крч много на самом деле проблем в игре, но в целом неплохо , сюжет + атмосфера+ тема итальянской мафии в США вывозят ее.… Expand

Story of mafia is amazing it's cinematic and I wasn't board at any time! Missions are diverse and always interesting. Graphic is beautiful, face animations and voice acting are top of the notch. City and the atmosphere of 30's is amazing. I really only could whishI played this game without any expectations and without watching any reviews... Bought on sale and it was an amazing decision. City and the atmosphere of 30's is amazing. I really only could whish that the game wasn't divided into story and free roam... I would love to have both at the same time it's a little shame. Genuinely I wasn't expecting such an brilliant game! I really think that this game deserve a lot more attention. But to be fair there are a few bugs... Missing buttons prompts was the worst bug and I don't know why it hasn't been patched. But there was of course a racing mission... I've spent 3 hours only trying to beat it on the hardest difficulty... finally I came across a video on yt where dude is talking about RAM button and cutting the grass... And magically I have won in second try... That one mission was a hell of a mess! It was not fun at all and I don't know who thought that this would be a good idea! Despite the difficulty on the hardest level it's a really amazing game with stunning story amazing acting and lot of memorable moments!     I loved the original mafia and this remake absolutely made me shed a tear for this classic. Graphics and gameplay are stunning and mission design is almost perfect. The tweaks on the story are ok and don't destroy the og feel. The only bad thing preventing this from getting a 10 is relatevely empty world in Free Ride without a lot of things to do.

When I first played Mafia 2, that game was gorgeous for me and is still one of my favorite video-games of all time! Now Mafia DE is very similar in terms of Open Word, level and mission design. This ist NOT an open world game to be explored and freeroamed. The map is just aFirst of all: never played the original Mafia game. While I really enjoyed the game, I'm also a bit disappointed. When I first played Mafia 2, that game was gorgeous for me and is still one of my favorite video-games of all time! Now Mafia DE is very similar in terms of Open Word, level and mission design. This ist NOT an open world game to be explored and freeroamed. The map is just a beautiful scenery which allows the police chases and the driving in general to be non-linear and enjoyable. Now the game itself is very linear. You finish a mission, the game will just continue with the next one. This is no GTA or Mafia 3, where you need to manually start each mission. I personally think this is a good design choice, because it makes the story much more intense and is a good variety compared to all those 40hour grind open world games.
    I finished the story in 13h, which I'm totally fine with. But difficulty was way to unbalanced. I played on hard, at times the game was ridiculously hard, at other times it was too easy. E.g. The car chase with that heavy truck was ridiculously unnecessary. Enemy AI in this game is not good. Enemys seldom try to flank you, so there is no pressure on you and you can just stay in cover as long as you want. On the other hand AI seems to have some sort of magic aim bot being able to shoot you in the head if you leave cover for just milliseconds even after you just changed your position of cover. It's practically impossible not to loose health, no matter how cautious you are.
    One other critique is the story. While I really enjoyed that one, it was also pretty flat. Sure there were some highlights but somehow the emotions never REALLY showed up in the characters. There also wasn't anything near a plot-twist.
    Apart from that:
    -Music is great, Radio talking is interesting.
    -graphics are nice
    -Lost Heaven is a beautiful scenery -NPCs and physics are not as dumb/bad as in Cyberpunk
    -driving is actually fun (especially when you played Cyberpunk right before this game)
    -atmosphere is great
    -Besides the bad AI (though a bit better than the horrible Cyberpunk AI), the Gameplay was actually enjoyable (especially when you played Cyberglitch right before this game)
    -I had no major glitches, bugs or crashes (should be a matter of course, but you know after playing Cyberbug...)
    -the police is actually chasing you in cars. This doesn't seem to be very special I know. But as I said, I just played Cyberpunk... Conclusion:
    This is not Cyberpunk. This is actually a great game, though it has its flaws.    … Expand

Either they didn't play the original game, or they are little sjw using logical fallacies - to attack people for constructive criticism. Most people probably won't play the original and that game will fade away. While it is much better game, even today! And it doesn't look even that bad!

    I also i heavily dislike community of this game and even nowadays gaming subculture. If you say anything negative, they will tell you go play something else. Even if it is true and you have circle jerk yourselves and be fake. Otherwise people will attack you!

    I would say go play original, if you didn't. It is a masterpiece!!!

    Story: they changed original characters and dialogues, even scenes! Paulie looks like Shrek and both look like they don't have any experience. In the original characters were older. They mixed some lines in dialogue and things came out at wrong moment, it was weird. I like original story much more, than in this game!

    They removed lucas bertone missions, but you have to find 5 cars in freeride, which is boring. Previously he gave you little fun sub-quests.

    There are some interesting details about events in the original story, which is interesting, previously player could imagine it, or guess. I like it in new game, since it is remake.

    Dialogues: They are not bad, but there are some things, which are dumb like: Tom just gets started in family and Salieri, he himself says he wants revenge on guys, which destroyed his taxi, why it was most powerful mafia in the city. In the original, salieri ordered Paulie and Tom to destroy their cars as initiation test, which is more believable. There are things like this in the game.

    There are some funny quotes, but otherwise... Sometimes characters tell same thing twice, happened in previous game too, not big deal.

    Soundtrack: original soundtrack is absolutely amazing and more dramatic, i dislike they replaced it.

    Cutscenes: in original they are 1000 times more dramatic and more EPIC!

    Driving: terrible driving model, in original they tried to simulate realism. While in new game, driving is unrealistic and car is sliding. Cars suffer from understeering and than enter uncontrollable slide, which is impossible to correct many times. It is like driving on ice constantly... I completed race mission on the first trial in original, but in this game it took me 3 hours, because my car lose control, not that it would be difficult, it is not! Also they made it so opponents will crash right before you and you crash too - idiotic...

    Auto aim when driving yuck! Car moves when i hit it with baseball LOL.

    Environment: salieri's yard looks good, but whole city is too clean on that era. There were neon signs at that time, but i liked more original, now you have that on every corner. Also all cars are shinning and look like new.

    Combat: melee is annoying, if you attack first sometimes it doesn't hit, yet he counters, which has no counter. Otherwise you have to press alt quickly to dodge.

    Cops: they get called instantly, which looks weird, in old mafia police office would have to find a telephone to report incident!

    City: they made city more accessible, but game doesn't take you through city as much as before, at least you don't have to drive back each time, which was excessive in old mafia. Everywhere are roadblocks LOL and in first mission car chase is kinda lame, but so it was in the original. Except you could take out wheels, but you wouldn't hit anybody basically...

    UI: there are a lot of unnecessary ui elements, like objective, which kills immersion. Previously you could always press f1 for objective and they tell you what to do so... Also healthbar is huge and speed-o-meter doesn't look old from that era and i dislike minimap next to it. It even shows you path to the objective, so you don't have to remember path yourself...

    You choose weapons by weapon wheel and it sucks as usual, also 12 works tho i think, but for other things...

    Graphics: graphic with red taint, i don't care. It looks great, how ever they didn't recreate era best, city is too clean, sky is white bright, instead of blue... It is in details... Also it is little bit blurry on max details, but that's normal, probably bad aliasing and will be better in near future i think. Yet old game looks more realistic in a way i think. Cars are also too shiny, every car in the city...

    Freeride: design of missions is moronic, you don't know first how to finish that optimally, even if you were pro, some missions are impossible to do on the first time, now matter how good you play. So you have to restart like 10 times, if you do only one mistake, because car suffer from heavy understeer, you lose to rng tram, or car...    … Expand

It seems theres no free-aim option available until you crank the ram button. Before that it's just useless auto-aim and it really pisses me off. The story is ok I guess but like I said it's nothing like it used to be..

    Other than that it feel like the gameplay is on traintracks. It's really restricted what you can do. Some actions just seems to be disabled during parts of the mission.. for cinematic reasons? Just let me play ok?! Sneaking mechanics are there only when game thinks you need them, you can't active then in anyway so one must just get by with cover mechanics..

    1.Soundtrack/Radio - even though I said soundtrack was good but some of the Simunek tracks could stay, Jesse Harlin did really good but some of the Simunek soundtrack were truly a masterpiece, why couldn't they mix old and new tracks? Its a big question. Then there is radio part, damn that is really sad, only one radio song left from the OG "Mooche", new one are good as well, but not as good as in the OG, I don't know why they couldn't get them, didn't want to overpay or what, but I'm sure they could make an agreement and get at least 50% of the OG tracks and it would make the game aaa lot better.
    2.Lighting bugs, whenever you look at the wall or other static objects in different angle the lighting blinks and its suck, same issues were in Mafia 3, still can't fix that? Big minus.
    3.Missions too much scripted. For example mission in the port "You lucky bastard", you just have to stick to where the game says you to go, location is bounded all around, you can't explore the port like you could in the OG Mafia, its just narrow corridor, I want to decide on my own how I want to deal with certain mission but sadly the remake doesn't give you this choice. A big minus for me.

    Anyway with all this said its a pretty good game, but at the same time a pretty weak remake.I give solid 8 to this game.    … Expand

I passed original twice, not too much for real fan though but it was much more realistic and catchy than this game, i’d say more deep and mature.     The best game I've played in the last few years. Very well remade, well-shifted atmosphere of the 30s, good physics of machines, pleasant shooting. Great plot, there are some bugs, but because of the plot, you can close your eyes to them!

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is a remake of the old Mafia game (2002) and it is quite good.

    - Throwing animations are weird
    - Some doors open quite weird
    - I didn't like that sometimes the game's story just jumps from 1935 to 1938, I mean It would've been much more interesting if we'd get to know the characters much more which leads to my next point
    - Some of the characters were really underwhelming that I couidn't even care less about what's happened to them.

    On the details, the upsides and the downsides in no particular order and with no guarantee of completeness:

    * Trams and Trains cannot be used anymore. This removes a unique detail of the game and with it some free ride fun. Actually, this is mayor.

    * Cars handle great and the ability to drive in manual was kept. This is good to see :)

    * Police alert and wanted system needs work. Police spawns only in predefined places, but when wanted, they spawn more or less next to you within SECONDS.

    * There is still a free ride mode. No money system, but you have all cars and SOME weapons available. Grenades, Molotovs and the sniper rile are NOT! This removes major sources of fun and mayhem..

    * East Marshal Bridge no longer gets pulled up in Free Ride mode.

    * The graphics are state of the art and quite beautiful! The lighting gets pretty bad in some cases however: Light bleeding in shadowy areas, water-like reflections where there shouldn't be any, and dark light transitions are way over the top. But it's fine most of the time.

    * The story and characters were given a bit more depth. For the most part, this was well done!

    * The missions got a bit easier and quite linear, but in contrast to the original, certain missions can be done partial or full stealth. There is also a cover system for whoever needs it. They took however the ability to shoot while crouched, which is weird. The Lucas Bertone missions got removed and cars are unlocked by progression instead of Ralph.

    * The free ride extreme missions are included in free ride, but reduced in numbers. Added were a number of collectibles throughout the missions and free ride.    … Expand

Every cars in that game had fuel meter and they would running out by driving them . you could go to the gas stations and the Gas guy would came and refuel your cars which was very interesting. Also if bullets penetrated to your gas pump , it would make a hole and fuels could go empty faster .

    Urban Metro and Air Metro were two public transportations which you could enter them and transfer between city places . now in the remake Dev's closed their doors.

    In classic game when you had allies on your side like Pauli and Sam , They Had Health Bar just like you . they could die if they took bullets and even you could shoot them and reduce their health or even kill them. This feature made the game much harder and you needed to careful and watch your allies back too. they removed this feature in remake.

    Now I'm amazed how blind connoisseurs And especially the critics, put this game a positive score!? This game is difficult to call the game 2020 BEFORE the masterpieces of those past years from 2002 - compare and now evaluate on the actual component!    … Expand

    I am impressed with this game. I had very little expectations, it is so much better than Mafia 2. The story is great and the characters are special. Paulie is a great character. The graphics are better than Mafia 2 DE. There isn't much to do like GTA or other open world games but remember this is a remake of a 10 year old+ game. Enjoy.

    I really dig that one! Pretty good plot, very compelling characters and a good atmosphere overall. But besides the main story, there's basically nothing to be seen here. Best mafia story in the gaming media though.

    If this game is put on straight line tracks, that I do not even have a choice in the action, but just press the keys and look the cutscene.     No, it's a bad job to create a game like a cheap doll that needs to be sold to make money.

    Can't appreciate this game. This empty game has nothing inside the game world, but only video scenes and clumsy control. The story was also disfigured that they had no right to do so, not an exact gnarled copy from the original version, if it is The Definitive Edition.
    There's nothing new about the content, it's just everything's screwed up.

    La historia, aunque no es excelente, es bastante interesante. Se trata de un remaster, así que es un juego que si te lo pasaste antes no esperes nada más allá de los gráficos mejorados.

    I would put this game a score of 1. But I'll put five as I'm very upset and see that this is an empty, not finished game without a world of activism and a dead Free walk.
    I hope for a fair update of the game!

    Released a crude unfinished game in which only a silly compressed linear story and all the scenes are simplified to madness from the 2002 classics..

    While the game looks amazing, it feels incredibly outdated with the same repetitive missions and the whole "cover shooter" trope, which feels like we traveled 10 years back. The story was really nice to experience, but my whole experience was ruined by the gameplay. I get that It's a story, linear type of game, but that doesn't mean that the gameplay should be this stale.

    Gross falsification of the original version of the game.
    Do not spoil your mood and play the original from 2002 better.
    This game studio does not know how to rightfully make and copy games from the Mafia series.

Например, как в ремейке второй мафии, - вот там физика мое почтение. Сами персонажи порой скучные и нудные, но это только мое мнение. Еще хотелось бы упомянуть про контент..     This game is dope. Man, this remake just changed the whole game atmosphera. The history break you heart deeply. Mafia II DE didn't make this great difference for me as Mafia I did.

    A successful remake. The original game had unplayable mechanics. I didn't understand how people could play that game. You should definitely give this one a chance. The only negative thing about this game was the car racing mission. In the original game everyone was annoyed with that part too.     This is a full-fledged, honest to God remake. Some changes to the story will upset hardcore fans, but I think this approach is absolutely justified. Even though this remake is not as amazing as new versions of Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7, it’s still a worthy update.

    The main difference between the remake and the original game is that the latter was outstanding for its time, while the Definitive Edition is “merely” good. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. What’s crucial here is the fact that Hangar 13 approached the original’s narrative with proper respect and refrained from changing it too much. Mafia: Definitive Edition might not be remarkable as an open-world action game, but it still has the story worthy of the most revered gangster movies. [12/2020, p.28]

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is a remake of mixed flavours. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's great. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's awful. Mixture of aged mechanics and amazing graphics, new voices, great old story and some added, yet bad storylines, make it not such a perfect remake. But it sure is worth your time, whether you are a fan of the original or not. The moral of the story survived in all its glory, just be sure to focus your attention to the details where Mafia used to and still shines the most.
