I really wanted to like Madden 19. When EA finally released a new NFL game for the PC, I had to have it. I loaded it up on my computer and sat down to relive some old memories. But the more I played, the more the nagging doubts kept cropping up, the more the key features I'd enjoyed from previous titles became conspicuous in their absence.
In fairness, it's a pretty game. The animations are nice and the presentation looks very modern. I'm a guy who wasted his youth playing the games from the XBOX era and graphics don't mean a whole lot to me, but they do look good. But this game is an example of how polished graphics don't translate into a good user experience without a good game underneath them.

Everything else is a broken mess of missing features and linear game design-

*The stuttering audio and wonky frame rate I got when I installed it made it almost impossible to play- I spent twenty minutes on forums before I found the answer (you have to unlock the frame rate and turn off V-Sync, simple enough), but why did the game release like that? Didn't anyone test it?

*You can't change the music. I guess if I were a huge fan of hip hop, that wouldn't be a problem, but I'm not. There's no option to skip tracks or import music from my computer, which you could do on Madden 08, ten years ago. After an hour, I ended up turning the music off altogether and just scrolled along in silence.

*You can't create your own team. I was excited to see the Outlaws (my custom team for years now) on next-gen hardware, but no dice. You can still create your own characters, but you're limited to about ten faces and none of them look like me or my friends, which is half the reason I do the franchise mode.

*The fantasy draft holds your hand through drafting players and assigns each choice you make a grade. "Oh, no! You reached for that player! He's ranked 112 and you took him at 98!" the system will say disapprovingly. So regardless of my personal feelings about a guy, I have to watch an error message every time I don't make what the game considers an 'optimal' choice.

*The tile-based menus aren't terrible, but they do feel a bit dumbed-down. And the voice that tells me, every single time, that I should choose the options menu to change the options is grating, to say the least. It would also be nice to get the constant ads for EA products off the screen somehow.

I realize that every one of my issues relates to some feature I expected the game to have that it doesn't. And maybe console gamers have been dealing with this for years. But Madden 19 is a wonderful example of what's wrong with the game industry right now. If you're the kind of person who invites friends over to play each other at Madden, it probably works fine for you. And it's not a terrible game. I'm just sad to have waited 10 years for THIS.

I give this a 5 as it's just and average game and Madden experience. I only play on pc and haven't played Madden in years so I wanted to pick this up so I'd have a football game again. There is almost no difference between this game and the last Madden I played except for a graphics update. They've done nothing innovative or worthwhile with the franchise and I won't be buying anotherI give this a 5 as it's just and average game and Madden experience. Madden is back.

The game is visually appealing and plays pretty well though I do have a few jitters here and there with what seems to be FPS drops even though it is showing 100+, this shouldn't be happening on my system. The real motion running is very fun and makes you feel closer to the action, but once again the AI is pathetic. They drop easy catches, run into traffic, don't follow

As normal with EA, their main focus is micro-transactions and MUT does it's best to persuade you to part with additional money, even though they are charging £55 for the base game and £70 for the HoF edition. (Origin Access Premier would be wise if you plan on playing other EA games, as you get 50k coins in MUT) On the whole, I find MUT to be packed with content and coins can be earned very easily, so as of now, there is no real need to part ways with real money to upgrade your team.

Franchise mode is still very bare and wish it had the level of content/management 2K brings to the NBA series.

Longshot is EA trying to create a B movie and is not worth your time unless you want a few custom uniforms for MUT in the end.

Overall, I think it's a fairly good return to PC and I am so glad to be able to play Madden again, but I would like to see more content in the game and a bigger focus on the other game modes, we all know EA make their billions from Ultimate Team, but it would be nice for some of that be invested elsewhere in the game.

Ive been waiting for Madden to return to PC and was severely disappointed. I WAS WILLING TO ACCEPT MUT ... I HAVE NO ISSUES WITH IT BECAUSE I LOVE FRANCHISE MODE, atleast I used to.

The game feels like its still 10 years old, not many new features. I refunded after seeing the same faces for create-a-player options like 10 years ago. C'MON MANNNN!!!!!!!!!! The other thing that

The other thing that made me refund was the tearing on the screen, lack of halftime highlights... Somehow Madden has gotten worse from my memories. Dunno. I think the NFL should introduce some competition to EA... because this game is not what I remember.

On the Positive, I did like that when I hit people or score I get exp for my players. But dont like seeing it while playing in the play. Recommend an after game report.

Maybe in a few patches and when its very on sale... Ill consider revisiting.

For newcomers, Madden NFL 19 is a bumpy start for their new favorite hobby, with veterans benefiting from the ongoing uptrend.

For those who enjoy Madden, I think it's definitely worth a buy over the console versions, particularly if EA Sports can fix the jittery over-60fps gameplay. Most of us like the flexibility that PC gaming offers just in the options alone. Once the few bugs are ironed out (including Madden having issues connecting to EA servers, repeatedly), I think the game will be absolutely brilliant. They have made a great attempt at a comeback on PC, it just ends up being marred by some minor glitches which can prove immensely frustrating.

Madden NFL 19 is a fantastic entry into the long-running series. The new Player Movement System and air collision system lead to far more fluent gameplay and animation while MUT comes in better than ever. The MUT challenges are enjoyable and offer a great way to start building your team and a new emphasis on training and chemistry allows for more strategy. New or returning, Madden NFL 19 is a must buy for football fans.
