LIVE A LIVE, originally only released for the Super Famicom in Japan, is being revived on Nintendo Switch! Experience this legendary RPG for the first time in the west, brought alive in the same HD-2D visual style as OCTOPATH TRAVELER and TRIANGLE STRATEGY.

Meet seven heroes, each with their own unique abilities and lives to live across different time periods. Experience their stories in any order you choose, uncovering shocking developments along the way:

    * Prehistory: A tribesman comes of age in a world without words.
    * The Wild West: A wanderer with a bounty on his head fights for his life.
    * Imperial China: A kung fu master searches for a worthy successor.
    * Twilight of Edo Japan: A shinobi undertakes an important secret mission.
    * Present Day: A martial artist strives to become the strongest there ever was.
    * The Near Future: A youth with psychic powers takes a stand against evil.
    * The Distant Future: A newly built robot is swept up in a tragedy in space.

Featuring remastered music from original composer Yoko Shimomura and produced by Takashi Tokita (the director of the Super Famicom version), this remake retains everything that players loved about the original game while also being accessible to newcomers.

LIVE A LIVE is a gorgeous 2D-HD experience that combines modern with classic pixel visuals. With multiple chapters to select featuring their own story and characters, along with a variety of genres, there is so much here to keep you busy, this is a must-play RPG.

I absolutely adored Live A Live from start to finish with its beautiful presentation, enthralling soundtrack, engaging combat system, and plentiful short stories. From light-hearted adventures to heart-breaking tragedies, nearly every story in this game had me invested in their well-written plots and characters. This game is a must-have for any JRPG enthusiast whether they’re a newcomer or a stalwart fan of Square Enix’s 16-bit era titles.

Live A Live is an excellent set of stories contained within a very polished package. The remastered elements are fantastic, with the music and art a particular highlight. Sadly some elements of 90s video games have not aged well and could’ve done with an update here. Having said that, if you love a nostalgia trip and have the odd masochistic tendency then this will easily be a 10/10 for you as what it does well it knocks out of the park.

If you enjoy retro and at the same time want something unique that is not quite common even nowadays, Live A Live will definitely offer you that. Some periods of the game are more fun, others less so, but overall it's still a very good game after all these years. And the PC port is successful, although the controls could have been a little more refined.
