It is difficult to describe life is strange. I never felt so immersed in a character as it was with max in life is strange, and how I love this character, every sentence she said when we were looking for something ... The voice acting of the character is also very good. This game will mark me forever.

It become one of my favorite games that I played. The decisions that are so hard to decide because you grew some liking to those characters and you can't decide or sometimes when the song you like kicks in and you feel so relaxed and when you can take the photo of the one squirrel and all these stuff like this to make it so good game and definitely one of mine favorite games. It's been a while since I cried on a videogame and Lis did it perfectly. The immersion of this gem is incredible. It's the first time on a video game that I love everything on it. However, what awaited me was a pleasantly surprising and deeply enchanting experience. I found myself utterly captivated by the characters, the intricate storytelling, and every other aspect of the game.

The depth of the characters and their personal narratives is what I cherished most. Chloe and Max, in particular, left an indelible mark on my heart. The freedom to explore the world and the charming character hubs added a layer of immersion that made the game feel alive and inviting. I was astonished by the profound connection I developed with these characters – it was an unexpected and moving encounter.

The Telltale-inspired style combined with the unique ability to control the characters and the intriguing chaos theory theme were a perfect blend. The time-rewind mechanic, in particular, was masterfully executed, adding an intriguing dimension to the gameplay.

"Life is Strange" offered an extraordinary and singular journey, brimming with emotion and genuine feelings. I couldn't find a single flaw to complain about, and it has secured a place among my all-time favorite games.

Certain scenes had such a profound impact on me that I felt overwhelmed with emotions. There were moments when I couldn't bear to explore further or continue playing. Twice, I found myself gazing at the monitor, lost in contemplation. The game managed to evoke teary eyes in some scenes, an achievement only previously attained by Telltale's "The Walking Dead."

In conclusion, "Life is Strange" is a truly unique and emotionally poignant experience, impeccably crafted with a brilliant narrative. It stands as a remarkable piece of art, a game that resonates deeply and leaves a lasting impression. I wholeheartedly celebrate this masterfully done creation and applaud its exceptional storytelling. It's an amazing gem, and I'm grateful to have embarked on this touching and unforgettable journey.

*_is there a common selection rule? In video games, in the dialog box and the consequence after the action we have chosen. Ultimate - yes! If during the first passage everything turned out as the game needs, and not for you. On the example of the beautiful Life Is Strange, this task with consequences collapses on the fifth episode. If you do not pay attention to this, listen more often, peer into what is happening, talk with everyone, single out moments of history for yourself, until the very end of the adventure there will be no chance of sadness and will have time to involve in every part of this country of life

In a review from IGN Russia (the IGN Russia website is the Russian version of the international IGN portal, launched in 2013), Oleg Zaitsev opines that the first episode is difficult and misleading to judge the general elements of the game. He goes on to state that the created storylines of psychic powers, the girl's disappearance, and the protagonist's coming of age can easily be combined into one, but, as the reviewer notes, "there is no guarantee that detective, mysticism, and teen melodrama will eventually merge into something beautiful." .

_as an emotional component of the game Life Is Strange is definitely a guarantee of quality. Anger, hatred, sympathy, joy, selfishness, in general, the entire spectrum of teenage experiences, is presented to the maximum. The main thing is to get it into your head that this is not your condition, not your worries, not you, as a player, are experiencing everything that happens, but our beautiful main characters Max and Chloe, who will demonstrate their life to us in such a mystical period of their strange life

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.
Life is Strange: Before the Storm,

The time rewind feature adds an interesting twist to adventure gameplay. It doesn't feel like "cheating" because although you might know the immediate consequences of your decision, you can't rewind past maybe 30 seconds and you can't see how these things will affect the future.

It has a great story, and the unique style and setting, and incredible atmosphere, sucked me in from start to finish. I also found the game mechanics more satisifying, and more at the forefront, than in any Telltale games I have played; with more interesting puzzles (although still too easy), and with a greater incentive to explore every nook and cranny and interact with everything you can.

Its been one of the most memorable and enjoyable game I have played in several years, and would warrant a 10/10 in my book, if it wasn't a little rough around the edges.

Probably my main gripe would be that, whilst I found the main story completely mesmerizing and some of the characters are well developed over the entire game, some of dialogue is hilariously cringe-worthy, and pretty much every character is an archetypal chiche. In addition to that, the lip-sync is often pretty bad, and, whilst the main characters are voiced really well, some of the lesser characters aren't great (not helped by the cliched writing). Additionally, whilst I personally loved it, I could see the unique setting being somewhat polarizing.

What it does well, it does insanely well, which was more than enough for the negatives to fade away the more I played.

If you are looking for an action game and value game play over story - avoid this title like the plague. If, however, you like narrative and games where your choices matter, this game will shine for you and be very worthwhile purchasing.

GRAPHICS: Well done with a painterly aesthetic.

SOUND: Well developed sound effects that enhance the immersion.

SOUNDTRACK: I really enjoyed the soundtrack for this game - very fitting and served to enhance the game and its immersion.

GAME PLAY: Limited at best. Its more an interactive film than a game. As long as you understand that going in, the game play serves to enhance the immersion but is not the center piece of the game. Instead player choice is the central part of the game and it shines.

REPLAY VALUE: Unless you really want to know what happens with every choice you make the game has little replay value.

The graphics, overall art design, and music are excellent, the story is very interesting and "strange" as the title suggests, and the characters are real and compelling enough. Especially the main character, Max. She's great.

Alright, so, here we have a 3D point-and-click adventure game by a company called Dontnod Entertainment operating on a moderately down-to-earth scenario involving college drama mixed with a touch of Prince of Persia time-reversal weaved into the narrative (I did say "moderately" down-to-earth). I'll be honest, it sounds a little like something that David Cage would make if he joined Telltale Games, but it's actually a lot better than that and something I heartily recommend, though with a massive pulsating asterisk on it. If you have little patience for high-school antics and slang, then you will find this game incredibly trying.

First, characters. Honestly speaking, the characters here are very believable and you can generally tell the kind of people they're supposed to be, but with one exception they act like people, not just caricatures. The main character, Max, is a quiet art student type girl, and seems to have a lot of self-doubt, if her inner-monologue is anything to go by, but she's pretty relatable, especially for introverts. Most of the supporting cast you can see working out well with interesting potential, though I admit that I'm /very/ concerned about how certain people wind up getting portrayed mostly due to what they might be used to represent. The (so-far) primary antagonist is... interesting to say the least; think of a spoiled rich brat with roid rage... I don't know what to make of him yet. But so far, the characters get a 10/10 for me.

Second, plot. So, nothing wrong with the plot, Max moved back to her hometown to go to the local university as a photography student, and has discovered she rather spontaneously has the ability to rewind time, quite extensively I might add. The situations going on around her (with one spoiler I'm not saying) are quite varied and quite serious with the potential to go wrong, but so far are being treated maturely so I'm not too worried, but just know that they will be at least talking about murder, drugs, rape, and other such things, and not jokingly. My big complaint stems from the fact that I can so far identify what every character's role will be immediately and the aforementioned potentia ex machina. There's also a lot of variation of choice and little things you can change. One thing that bugs me though is that... this is clearly a high school story, and not just the characters but everything about the setting is clearly a high school. Yet for some reason they keep saying it's a college, and I can't for the life of me figure out why. If I had to guess, it was originally a high school story, but something they have planned for later episodes is going to be really graphic and they didn't want to show it happening to a minor. 8/10

Third, writing and acting. Let's address the elephant in the room: yes, the main character is a girl named Max, and I wouldn't be lying by saying it's REALLY distracting. Beyond this though, I personally have a VERY low tolerance for terms like 'selfie,' so I weary of the slang used in this, but it's not poorly or inaccurately used for the most part. The characters speak like real people and the voice actors give wonderful performances--though I should note that some of the people are a little... different, not unbelievable just odd. My only gripe is directed solely at the word 'hipster,' because it does NOT mean what they think it means. Max keeps getting called one, but besides using a polaroid camera, she doesn't talk, act, dress, or in other way indicate this; she's just an art nerd. And then there's one girl that is so punk that I wouldn't be surprised if she wound up wearing a mohawk at one point, but for whatever reason she keeps getting called a hipster. It's annoying really, but I don't know if it's an intentional mistake to show ignorance of the characters or just the writers using a hot word. 9/10

Graphics, gameplay, and glitches. No glitches to speak of. Graphically... it's quite good for using Unreal Engine, especially the effects and atmosphere, but note that that involves words 'Unreal Engine.' There's something odd about the modeling I can't place, it's not ugly but it needs a little touching up. That said though, the effects and lighting are AMAZING. The point-and-click interface is wonky to get used to, but functional in the end, and the way they handle the time travel is actually quite nice (think longer-ranged Prince of Persia). 9/10

Overall: So long as you can overlook the pseudo-high-school setting and some abuse of modern language, then this is a wonderful Telltale-style adventure game with a somewhat predictable but solid and engaging story. The characters are interesting, and I DO hope to affect what happens to them... even if I'm thinking of ways I can drop one or two of them off cliffs.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Amazing game, amazing story. This is the type of story Square(soft) used to put out but has been lacking for years now.

My only complaint is that there are only 2 endings and your choices throughout the game don't make much difference. Unless they plan to pull a steins;gate and come out with another surprise episode, which would be fantastic.

I can't wait to see hope for a sequel or another episode.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just finished my 2nd play last night. Incredible. I actually played the prequel first "Before The Storm," and although is was also a great game, the original is much better. So much intrigue, color, characters, and mind blowing twists and turns. It will keep you glued to your seat from start to finish. It doesn't have as much replay value as the prequel in my opinion, but many replay it multiple times because the game is just plain GREAT! BTW, despite "Before The Storm" came after the Original "Life Is Strange," it is regarded as a Prequel and not a Sequel. Hence the name, "Before The Storm." Any who...

You play Maxine (Max) Caulfield, who develops powers to actually rewind time and change her
decision making. No one knows how it happened or why. She foresees a disaster that will hit Arcadia Bay, and in the end, she must make the most difficult decision she will ever have to make.

If that's not enough, Max also reunites with her best friend Chloe after not seeing her for 5 years. The two join forces to unravel a mystery of missing students from Blackwell Academy, including Rachel, who was Chloe's friend and possible love interest in the prequel. This puts Max in a difficult situation, as she and Chloe have been friends and possible soulmates since they were kids.

In closing, it's one of the best games I've played in quite some time. The DEVS did an incredible job on everything, especially the art, voicing, music, and puzzles and lots of Easter Eggs, if you can find them. The only reason I am not giving this little gem a perfect 10, is due to Max's rewind power. There are some areas where this ability needs to be used a lot and in repetitive scenes, especially in Episode 4. Despite this however, I highly recommend this game. It's really a piece of art.

From the first episode, players are put into the camera lenses of Max Caulfield, an 18 year old high school student with a love for photography and possesses the ability to rewind time. Pinch me if I haven't heard skeptics call this Tumbler: The Game. I had the same thoughts too going in, but as soon as the credits rolled, my mouth was taped shut and my wallet dumped into the next four episodes. Life is Strange absolutely nails the atmosphere and setting the mood of the story and the characters that populate it. The game on the opposite end of the table sitting away from TellTale, boasts a striking paintbrush look to its world and characters, with soft textures adorning plenty of the environment. But what this first episode alone gets perfect is the soundtrack. Being set in the small town of Aracdia Bay in the state of Oregon as seen through the eyes in a coming of age teenage girl, the indie folk and mellow guitar strums really pull you in, inviting players to a world akin to Juno and Donnie Darko. Life isn't perfect in this game world and the characterization of all the characters, including Max, are based off some high school archetype of the 21st Century. It's more exaggerated than overblown, just enough so it becomes clear of each character's place into this small town and how they add to the mood of it. Skeptics on the other end are already sneering on the prospect that this game is one giant cutscene, but Life is Strange prods itself to be more akin to a point and click adventure, since there are no QTE events or fear of death as in other episodic games, such as The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. Instead, players are encouraged to take their time examining the world through Max's eyes and while some quips and phrases makes people roll their eyes and scream cringeworthy, it lends a charming, immature nature to the game. Max is no superhero and the way she goes about her day even with time traveling abilities is much the same, through her thoughts are centered around her new profound ability to reverse time. In this game's mechanics, reversing time is used to retrieve and use new information to persuade, solve mundane tasks and issues, and even changing certain decisions if the player is not content with their aforementioned choice. While it is not mind boggling complex, the simple nature of it invites even the most clueless of gamers and it works well around the game's plot. One extreme flaw I do have to mention is the lip syncing: its below average. Sometimes it seems that the game was originally in French then translated to English till I found out that the animators just screwed the pooch. Other than that, LIS nails the mood, tone, setting, characters, and pacing in a single episode which can be completed in a slow afternoon. Life Is Strange on its first episode alone has given TellTale a run for their money on top of the episodic gaming scene, and The Walking Dead has two seasons already. Expand

Dontnod has a talent for stories, characters and atmosphere, but not too much regarding making games. Therefore they copy/pasted a generic, dull beat/shoot-em-up as their first one: Remember me. After a while I was asking myself: why am I doing this? Why am I spending half an hour to beat a boss by stupid button smashing only for a few bits of progress in the story.

They also copy/pasted, with more luck the Telltale recipe in their second game: Life is strange. I really liked this one. Graphically better than the Telltale ones I've played, the characters and the story is great. It is also quite emotional, sometimes a bit cheesy, but never over the top. And I felt more here that my choices actually affect what will happen. That the consequences are not just byways that later join the main road, but actual branchings or ramifications.
I read in some of the reviews that this game is a ripoff of Bioshock Infinite. I don't know what the reviewer was smoking, but it is nothing like BI (for the record: I think Bioshock Infinite is one of the best games ever come out on PC, a milestone in every way). Maybe it is rather close to the Longest Journey.

I could get used to the pointing system relatively fast, though is sometimes not to easy to use it. It would be great if the game would give hints only when I want them and not after a certain time.
One more thing: it would be welcome (for any adventure game or interactive movie) to have the conversations available to read back, as a diary sentence by sentence.
After finishing I felt a bit empty, like after any good movie, book, series and only sometimes, game. The characters felt alive (hope to see them in future games), the story got me, it had a sad undertone, but it made me involved. I'm excited to see what Dontnod releases next time.

I really enjoyed the high school problems, even being a cliche its made in a different way than the usual thanks to the possibilities of change the course of action and I hope the next episodes will bring the impact of the choices in the first chapter.

The soundtrack is amazing and I'm not ashamed to say that I bought the game thanks to the trailer and the soundtrack in it. The graphics are beautiful and not too heavy, there is no try to make a perfect graphic, instead there is an art concept and is gorgeous.

This is a worthy game to play if your enjoy getting your beliefs played with.
I have to say that it initially takes some time to become really impressive. the season 1-4 are ok with good hooks, but season 5 and the ending is well worth the trip.

Very recommended if you like slow narrative adventure games that will make you go at the end.

Developed by Dontnod Entertainment and published by Square Enix, the game is presented like Telltale's series The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, etc, as it is episodic. While all episodes are now released, the wait for each episode was a long one. Each break between the episodes made me feel as if I was waiting for the sequel to my favorite movie to come out, or as if I was waiting for the second half of a favorite TV show of mine. To be able to capture that in a game is remarkable. Many gamers today want all of the content up front and right away. I believe this game utilized the episodic template very well.

The basic plot of the game is of a teenager, Max Caulfield, who watches a traumatic event unfold. She discovers she can rewind time and prevents the event from happening. This power that she has that the center of the game. Max's interactions with everyone is affected by her new power, and it creates for a very interesting story. The story is full of twists and turns, emotional events, strong character development, and great visuals.

As for the game play, it feels very much like a point and click adventure with puzzles here and there. But, instead there are many dialogue options that will change the outcome of the story. Actions that you take or miss will also have an effect on the story's ending. Trying to play the game to your morals and trying to make all of the right decisions to get the best ending is what drove me to anxiously await the next episode.

Overall, this game was easily one of my favorite games of 2015. I did not expect a game from Square Enix that would be so choice driven or to be modeled after other episodic series. This game has me wanting more, and so I shall wait for any news that suggests a sequel.

There is some puzzles; a very bit of stealth; and a lot of walking around; but the biggest part of the game is the dialogue choices you make that effect the story. I enjoyed it when it first came out and after replaying it I can say it holds up really well. The graphics are a tad dated for the sunnier daytime scenes but they’re still above average in my books and have a good colour palette. The storm scenes are still very good, especially the wet clothing and rain effects. The voice acting and music were spot on and across the board I liked them. The dialogue was overall good but could get a bit cringy at times. That being said most of the characters are teens so maybe I should give points for realism. The story itself is fantastic which is good as it is the main draw in the game. I did find the shoehorning of some political issues handled poorly and not subtle at all but it was minor and bearable. The characters made up for it. Whether it was Max; Chloe; Alyssa; Samuel; Warren; Joyce; David; and many more I can’t say I disliked any of them. That is to say they were all well layered, even if some were meant to be detestable. There were a couple times where I didn’t like the choices or how they panned out but they were largely very enjoyable. My issues were that some of them gave me little option but to be a bad person or be mean to others in order to stay on good terms with Chloe but to be fair the game addresses this at times in the story. I also didn’t like a single puzzle where I have to gather materials in the school. I needed to try to reach something that Max wasn’t tall enough for. I knew she couldn’t reach it so I tried to grab a chair but the game wouldn’t let me use the chair until I went through the motions and tried to reach the object anyway. Another time when trying to sort through pictures to tie together evidence they referred to, what was clearly a truck, as an SUV.

I played Life Strange on Linux. It never crashed on me. I did notice that one time Max lacked lip movements while talking but the whole issue lasted about ten seconds so it wasn’t a big deal. The game has a v-sync toggle; two AA settings; a resolution option; and four other graphics settings. Alt-Tab didn’t work. The performance was overall very good but I will say that it was jarring whenever the game went from cut scenes to normal game play because the game used my 144Hz refresh rate but the cut scenes were capped at 30 FPS and it looked weird for the first second or so before and after. The game dropped to 24 FPS for 1-2 seconds and also dropped to 65 FPS for 1-2 seconds but spent the most of the time at 100 FPS or higher. The game uses an auto save system. Overall it worked alright but at least once I noticed that I quit after seeing the save point mid scene and when I went back in it started me at the beginning of the scene not when the save point was. I would have preferred a manual save system.

    Game Engine: Unreal Engine 3
    Graphics API: OpenGL
Game Version Played: Launcher says 1.03, in game says 1.0.0.397609
    Disk Space Used: 10.69 GB

Graphics Settings Used: 1920x1080; Highest; v-sync on
    GPU Usage: 0-100 %
    VRAM Usage: 1077-1525 MB
    CPU Usage: 26-51 %
    RAM Usage: 3.2-4.7 GB
    Frame Rate: 24-144 FPS

Overall I highly recommend Life is Strange. It has great production values; a good story with great characters; and does a good job allowing you some freedom to make choices. If some of my criticisms seem petty it’s because they are, I really don’t have any serious flaws to gripe about. I finished my first play through in 13.5 hours and my second in 14.5 hrs. I spent $21.74 CAD on all five episodes and would have happily paid $45 so I think the current price of $21.99 CAD is a steal.

Here you play as aspiring photographer max… she has a vision of impending doom for the town of arcadia, and soon after she discovers she has the ability to rewind time after she saves her best friend Chloe from being killed…
The game is spread up into 5 episodes, and each episode does a great job of leaving you wanting more and feeling like self-contained stories…
You feel like you’ve accomplished everything in each episode.. none felt filler
You do play as a high school senior, and the game does a great job of feeling like you’re a high school girl, dealing with bullies, dealing with students having crushes on you, balancing friendships… and dealing with some pretty heavy emotional situations you’d expect from a bunch of high school kids
if you have a heart, you will cry playing this game, multiple times…
Where things get interesting is the rewind ability…
This is still an adventure game but not a nonsense adventure game…
it’s pretty easy knowing what to do in a situation, though one puzzle in a later episodes gets a little too complicated and slows the game down a bit…
But puzzles are found both in the environment and in dialog…
As you have to make sure you don’t say the wrong thing to someone while trying to get information out of them that you need…
or if you don’t like a reaction they had, you can rewind time and try something else…
As well as outcomes of a few important situations.. The game will indicate that a choice you made will have consequences and you can decide to deal with those consequences or go for a different outcome and deal with tem... but by time you learn what these consequences are, its too late to go back and change... so while I was worried at first.. This makes your decisions and choices still matter in the game…
much like the telltale games, I wasn’t a fan of the sections that I had to walk around and interact with items in the environment…
Most did add to the story…
But a few did annoy and frustrate me and felt like they were there to just drag the game out
10 hours of pure story though... definitely does get exhausting…
so this isn’t really a finish in one sitting kind of game.. especially with the at times poor pacing…
but the story telling here is so good that even if you do get tired you want to keep pushing to see what’s behind the next corner and what twist the game is going to throw at you next…
People have been recommending this game to me since it came out, and I’m glad I finally got around to experiencing it
The gameplay isn’t the best, but the powerful story telling makes Life is Strange a must experience game…
    I give Life is Strange

    Yep.

I rated episode 1 with 3/10, episode 2 with a 6. But now I'm giving it a 9. Why is that? Because Life is Strange is amazing, once you see past the horrendous jokes and hilariously low-poly models, which is easy after a while, it will touch your heart. A very story-driven game, your decisions DO affect gameplay. The game can be a bit of a **** but that's not in a bad way, I

The game can be a bit of a **** but that's not in a bad way, I actually found it accurate, since time travel IS full of a bit of **** But anyways, it does a great job at developing the characters, and you actually care about/hate them. A really memorable game, very relaxing to play as well, and it honestly has its moments.

    Give it a try.
But trust me, you have to play it all to really grasp the story.

Fantastic game, with a soundtrack that fits "guardians of the galaxy" well. Its visual style is appealing to me, if not cutting edge. Its not really that kind of game. Must play for any story gamer. It has my single most powerful and emotional moment i've ever had playing a game. The less you know the better so go play it right now.
Has always the only issue with the these of games are the technical ones like lipsynching and general graphics. But again doesn't matter when the story is this good.

Refreshing and a well-managed story, awesome cast and game mechanics. The first two episodes may be a drag but as you go on, the story develops and you can't stop playing for some more chapters. I advise for new players to not read guides and spoilers and play the game blind.

    A suivre :)

I don't usually play videogames so that's why I'm so late. I really enjoyed this game because I think I've never played something like this. The plot is really interesting and making decisions is a very unique idea, in my opinion. The only thing I didn't like much was that sometimes the game lagged and I had to restart, but aside from that, really good.

If you love Telltale-style games, you will feel right at home as it borrows unabashedly from the leading works im the genre, with its own twists woven into the game's mechanics.

The only thing that holds back Life is Strange is that it is a port of a game that was animated in another language (Ithink French), which means the English voiceovers don't accurately fit the mouth movements of the characters when speaking. It is a pretty major detail, although one you will quickly get used to as you immersive yourself in the story. A remastered edition would be worth it if it is ever released.

    Stellar, memorable game.

This game's unique mechanic is time rewinding. The protagonist is able to manipulate time and change it whenever you want to. First, I thought it's a big mistake that they implemented this feature, but closer to the end, I understood that it was the right choice. It's the main mechanic of the game. Life is Strange wouldn't be so great without this ability. Gameplay-wise, I prefer Quantic Dream's and Telltale Games' way. I also loved the soundtrack for this game. I vote this game 9 out of 10. Here is a game where you really have to love Time Travel nonsense.

In the first chapter of the game, your character pulls a Butterfly (literately) effect, and discovers she can travel backwards in time. If this sounds familiar, it's because the mechanism is identical to that of "The Butterfly Effect" film. Complete with side-effects...

For the first three chapters, the game really does make you want to care about some characters (some more than others) and choices made right from the first scene in the game have far ranging consequences. The game tells you "This choice will have consequences" when something affects a relationship with another character, while the game will give you a "major choice" that will have far-reaching consequences.

Pros: If you like time-travel, or like "The Butterfly effect" (or even Final Destination) this will feel familiar. The voice acting and character designs are fairly good, feeling like you are interacting with a film more than playing "hunt for the hotspot and a witty retort" that some adventure games do. Most of the flavor text comes in the form of "SMS" messages and a note in a Journal that you can optionally ignore.

Negatives: If you hate time travel, hated "The Butterfly effect" , or don't like adventure games in general, this game will feel very annoying. The user interface is not very good when played on the PC, and tends to confuse players with how to use the verbs presented. Lip-sync tends to just disappear at times.

If you are playing on a PC, you have to point the camera at the object and then use the mouse to click/drag the verb. This feels confusing compared to other adventure games which have you click/tap the object and then the verb.

Very few times have I ever been choking back my emotions not once, not twice, but throughout a bulk of the game. The dialogue can be corny, though the acting is top notch, and things can hit you in the gut if you're invested. But then it'll turn around and get you happy all over again.

At first I had many gripes with the game, but as I went further, episode by episode, suddenly I grew attached to them. The sometimes unnatural slang grew to be my favorite parts of some of the characters. The narcissistic qualities of others were purely understandable and, in a way, something you could relate to one way or another.

The music was easily one of my least favorite parts of the game, mostly because I was prejudicial and wrote it off as 'hipster trash,' but then it too grew to be one of the best parts of the game's atmosphere. It felt genuine, it felt real. In some crazy way, I felt less of an outsider looking in and more inserted into the world.

As I explored the game, episode by episode, I quickly grew attached to the world involved. Soon I cared less and less about getting the right reaction, and instead I focused more on building a relationship (as pathetic as that may sound,) with everyone, no matter how superfluous it may ultimately end up.

Maybe it was the lack of sleep I had the previous night, but something really clicked for me. If it wasn't for the fact I wasn't alone in the house when I finished up episode 5, I more than likely would've cried my eyes out. This would fall under the category of "Things I would never do, under any circumstance" clause of my personality, but somehow Life is Strange broke down that wall and I'm still feeling the effects of the game's ending over 24 hours later.

I doubt I would ever, ever play this game again. But not because I thought it was boring, or lackluster. Instead, it's because of the emotional anguish it brought to me. A bittersweet type of agony, I never want to experience again, but am glad I did. Now excuse me, I have more self loathing to catch up on, because.. reasons.

TL;DR This game emotionally destroyed me, I entirely do not regret playing the game, regardless of my soul being crushed through the myriad ways delivered throughout.

Life Is Strange is an imperfect video game and the actual mechanics of playing it, including the time rewind, can become annoying of frustrating, especially when the development team tries to borrow from another genre. But the game makes it easy to create a connection with Max and to care about her choices and trials, a rare feat, and that means any fan of narrative-driven experiences should try it out to see how he deals with the feelings of the protagonist and the impact they have on Arcadia Bay.
